How are you running HA? On which hardware?

#

I am running on a zimaboard

#

I have used an SSD for boot attached too the Zima board

#

@hushed lodge thank you for the help

hushed lodge
#

Ahhhhh... ok. Yeah, that would do it.

#

So, it looks like it's running out of memory and then dying?

naive sierra
#

Any advice on how to fix this issue?

hushed lodge
#

Hmmmm... honestly, no? What kind of specs does that SBC have?

naive sierra
#

SBC ???

hushed lodge
#

The zimaboard (SBC = single board computer 🙂 )

INTRODUCTION
ZimaBoard is a low-cost single-board server designed for makers and geeks.

Zimaboard has both the expandability of an x86 SBC and the appropriate power of a microserver. With ZimaBoard, you can setup a 4 Terabyte personal cloud in 5 minutes, configure a secure VPN to protect your digital footprint, tune your network with OpenWrt and pfSense, build a 4K media server that runs with Plex, share and collaborate with team members on your files, or upgrade your smart projects across different systems.

ZimaBoard is created by makers who got tired of recurring fees, unfriendly presets, and isolated systems. We want to make the home digital experience more attractive and affordable.

Ok, so I'm guessing the 4GB is kinda tight. What addons are you running? Might just be too many for the board to handle is my thought. At least, that is the first place I would look.

naive sierra
hushed lodge
#

So, MariaDB, Plex and Whisper are probably your biggest culprits.

#

MariaDB and Plex both use about 1GB of RAM each (maybe more depending on usage).

#

The first thing I would do is remove Plex. If that doesn't fix it, then I'd look at getting rid of MariaDB and going with the built-in SQLite3 DB.

naive sierra
#

My question, is why now it runs out of memory when i have had those addons on for a while?

hushed lodge
#

Well, a couple of things really... as HA grows, so does it's memory requirements. But, the addons themselves can also grow as they get updated. If it's MariaDB, it could be your database size growing as well. I think in the individual addons, you can see how much CPU and RAM they are using, so you can check that easily enough.

naive sierra
#

could my Hacs frontend and intregration be hogging it too?

hushed lodge
#

Possibly? But I doubt it. Maybe if you have a LOT of integrations, it might.

#

HACS is usually pretty low impact as it's a storefront and not really an integration or an addon, per se (it is, but it also isn't).

naive sierra
#

ill look into the integration side of hacs only as well. seems like uninstalling plex worked for the moment. giving it 24hrs

naive sierra
hushed lodge
#

You could. Sure. But I think you're still going to still run into possible memory issues. How much ram is MariaDB using?

naive sierra
#

sorry im replying slowly. i work from home as well lol

hushed lodge
#

lol same actually... no worries.

#

I believe you can see the stats in the addon page for it.

naive sierra
hushed lodge
#

Huh, that's not too bad actually. I expected a lot worse.

naive sierra
#

then something else is killing it cause i just lost connection again?
