Are your actions configured in the app or yaml?

#

Any difference between scenes and actions?

@valid sparrow Thanks for creating the thread. Wait a sec, I just created an issue describing just that ๐Ÿ™‚

#

https://github.com/home-assistant/iOS/issues/2783

iOS device model, version and app version
Model Name: iPhone 13 Pro / Apple Watch Series 7 41mm
Software Version: iOS 17.5.1 / watchOS 10.5
App version: 2024.5

Home Assistant Core Version
2024.5.4

Describe the bug
No actions can be fired with the Watch App anymore, Watch App is showing a spinner and cancelling after half a minute or so showing a big X for a second. The iOS App debug log is not showing any action and HA is not receiving any events. Tried it with custom iOS actions and scenes. Both can be triggered via iOS, but not watchOS. No difference between server synced or manually added actions.

To Reproduce
Add some scenes as actions to the companion app and try to trigger them via the Watch App

Expected behavior
The actions are fired instantly and confirmed by vibrating the Watch to indicate success

Oh, perfect

No difference between server synced or manually added actions.

#

Tried it with custom iOS actions and scenes.

#

Last try would be reinstalling the iOS app completely... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

valid sparrow
#

Lets try first one possibly simple solution, reboot both devices, before opening the watch app open the phone app.
(All of this after rebooting)

obtuse anchor
#

Rebooting both devices done, no luck

valid sparrow
#

and you still see the list of actions, but they just dont execute and it shows the loading forever, right?

obtuse anchor
#

Correct

#

First one was added in companion app, second and third synced via server and fourth is a scene synced as well, all behave the same

valid sparrow
#

I'll have a look on the code tomorrow to see if I can spot anything, for now if you really need it working ASAP, you can install testflight and use and older version of the app

obtuse anchor
#

Ah is that possible do downgrade via testflight? Awesome

#

I just tried to look in the macOS Console log to find something in the watch or iphone logs, different to filter...

valid sparrow
obtuse anchor
#

I will try to reinstall first, if it does not help I will try TestFlight for now. Thank you very much Bruno!

obtuse anchor
#

@valid sparrow Re-installing everything did not work ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Do I need an invitation code for TestFlight?

valid sparrow
obtuse anchor
#

Thank you! Can you tell me the last build with the old watch app? 2024.4.1 (2024.671) seems to behave the same as the current version.

valid sparrow
#

If can still do it, install 2024.4

obtuse anchor
#

Ok

#

Yes, it works again. I hope you can find the issue and release an official update as soon as possible. Thank you very much in advance Bruno!

#

The old watch app is very fast and reacts very reliably to action triggers. The vibration to indicate success is also great. I hope the new Swift UI version will still be so fast ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜…

#

By the way, I am very happy to test new TestFlight builds if you want to try out a bugfix. Feel free to contact me at any time.

valid sparrow
#

Thanks Iโ€™ll surely notify you

valid sparrow
#

Out of curiosity, do you have your watch connected to your wifi? (not just to the iPhone but really wifi)

Is the vibration on success still present with the update?

valid sparrow
#

Yup

obtuse anchor
#

Awesome

obtuse anchor
#

@valid sparrow Thanks for your PR! I will test the new Watch App as soon as it's available in TestFlight and report back to you!

obtuse anchor
#

@valid sparrow Good news: as you already saw on GitHub, it seems to work fine for me now. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

valid sparrow
#

Nice! Thanks for the feedback

obtuse anchor
#

Hi @valid sparrow, can you tell me when the next official release will be published to the App Store? Thanks! ๐Ÿ™

valid sparrow
#

Probably this week

valid sparrow
#

2024.5.1 is now on the App Store

#

Hi @valid sparrow! Itโ€˜s me again ๐Ÿ˜Š What the heck happened to the Watch action background colors? Is it just gone? I carefully styled my buttons to match the overall grayish look of the watch elements and now the buttons are shining in my face in full brightness with white color (hiding white icons btw.). Is there any chance of getting background colors back? Thank you so much!

obtuse anchor
#

Oh no! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

#

Why?? Is white the only option now? Not happy...

#

Is there any possibility to match the watchOS default colors and icon sizes? Like in settings? That would be awesome!

Widgets and watch were aligned to Lovelace tile card design, thatโ€™s why background color was deprecated. Please letโ€™s close this thread since itโ€™s unrelated and next time use the main channel to discuss.

We received more feedback about the background colors and Iโ€™ll bring the discussion to the design team to find a good solution for all.
