Way off topic for here, but don't do a VM backup. Do a backup within HA and move that backup tar file to your Mac.

I know... that documentation IS valid, but just from doing support both here and on the forums, most of the VM issues I see come from VirtualBox. It's still supported, but tends to cause issues where proxmox and VMWare doesn't.
