Yeah. Just flat networking. Or just avoid all of that and use Zigbee.
Most of my IOT devices are flashed with tasmota. I usually buy zigbee stuff nowadays.
You can't avoid everything though like cameras or voice assistants. Those are in a separate network in my case.

What do you mean bu flashing with tasmota? You buy a commercial device and then you flash it with tasmota?

Yep. Most of it can't be flashed any more because they use incompatible chips. There are some that come with it pre-flashed. Athom for example. Just search tasmota on amazon or aliexpress.
