oh ho! Another clue. I think my ssl cert expired! According to an email from letsencrypt.

renewed my cert via ha addons start core_letsencrypt logs seem to indicate it worked. I guess I'll restart again and see what happens.

I really feel like I'm looking at this process through a mailslot, seems to be running in its own mount namespace, but not in docker...if anyone has docs about how to inspect/troubleshoot this process those would be helpful

ha core restart didn't work. Trying a graceful restart of the vm

bah, failure. Observer still works great on 4357. But still getting an empty reply from 8123.

and....it's working. I tried ha backup restore xxxx and it said error partial backup and all my backups are partial backups....and then I restarted again and it works.

I guess I'll create a full backup now and go to sleep. This has been me flailing. Thanks for watching.

I wonder if there's something about...time...and the new ssl cert. If this was caused by the ssl cert it's not a great failure mode. Anyway, going to sleep for real now.
