Just so I can understand what do you want to achieve, can you, can you share your use case?
Sure, I think I can post a video let me check
Well, My father has a garage door at his office and the automation should send him a push notification asking if he wants to open it when he gets in the area
the thing is that the gps stops updating after a couple of hours and I don't know if he mayybe is closing the app
and if closing the app affects the gps updates how can we mantain in running in the background
Ok, so my initial advice still makes sense, if you create a zone for your father's garage, iPhone can register for enter/exit events to this zone and provide more accurate results
even if the GPS on Home assistant stops updating?
Yup, I don't know if there is another issue in your father's phone, but assuming the problem is only GPS, this zone event's are handled differently by iOS
I'm using the "person.father" enters "home"
You can use this option to debug
yeah ok, nevermind, my bad, you already have a zone
I thought you're talking about "when home people count" is not "0"
the other way around ๐
I didn't knew this local push on the internal server link
haha no, you are doing it right.
If you open companion app settings >> location >> scroll down, do you see the home zone and the toggle saying it's enter/exit tracked?
but by external link he's using nabu casa so no options to tinker in there
Ok good to know he is using Home Assistant Cloud, then it's easier to find a solution
I can see it on my phone, I'll have to check on his phone later
The thing is, the automation works
but I think he closes the app from time to time or something
I think he doesn't realize
and when he gets there again the notification doesn't arrive
In theory iOS should still notify the App about zone changes, can you try to reproduce on your device? Like killing the app before you arrive for example?
This is very helpful to debug too: #1228323606941929533 message
boa ideia! ๐
didn't realize I could test it with mine
I'll go to the supermarket now and test it with the app closed
Cool, let me know how it goes
brb
Well it works
So strange that my fatherโs phone donโt if he closes the app
So I just have to check if these options are active, right?
Yes, it's a good start, also check permissions and everything else, if you dont have access to his phone often, take screenshots of everything in case we need to check later ๐
btw watchout for your location coordinates
damm... I'll have to move again ๐
thanks Bruno, I'll check his phone tomorrow
Hi Bruno sorry for the delay, just happen to have my father's phone at hand... You'll see, everything seems to be normal the only thing that is driving me nuts is this
As you see in the image I always set the tracking on iOS to "Always" instead of "While using", but every time I check the phone It switches to "While Using"
Just switched to "always" again and even the phone notified "HomeAssistant is actively using your location blah blah you want to continue to always share?" and clicked again in Always
everyting up to date (ios and HA helper app)
It has more to do with the phone I think
Perhaps reinstall the app just to be sure
I'll try that, now I have to check android phones in here lol ๐
Let's see how this week goes
aaaand less than 3 hours later it stopped working again...
