Hello, I'm searching on the net since some days and did not find a step by step procedure to upgrade my original CM4 2GB RAM/16GB eMMC to a new CM4 8GB/32 eMMC. All my datas have been moved on the M.2 SSD inside my Yellow box. I think I can not just replace the CM4 right ? it will not boot corectely since it is not a Light version of the CM4. I have a full backup for sure. So, what is the best way to upgrade ? Thanks for your help.

Maybe it can help. I ordred this CM4 https://www.berrybase.ch/raspberry-pi-compute-module-4-8gb-ram-32gb-flash
and sorry for my bad english 😉
- create a backup and download it
- wipe the Yellow with the blue and red button method
- change the CM4
- install HAOS
- move data partition to the NVMe (if it doesn't show up, you might have to remove the partitions on it)
- upload the backup and restore it
@thorny heart many thanks, it seems to be clear for me. Just the point about NVMe, how to "remove the partition" ?
Easiest way would be a NVMe to USB adapter and using the PC.
Alternatively using the USB-C serial console and Linux partitioning tools.
Another method might be rpiboot with the mass storage option via the USB-C to access the NVMe from a PC.
When I restore a full backup, it restore IP adress of the box, password and so on too ?
All settings (except the data partition movement) are saved.
@thorny heart ok, so I can install HAOS with minimum username and password and when I will restore, I will find all my actual password restored to access the box right ?
@thorny heart this is a good news, you save my life 😉
I can use this to remove the partition ? https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/sandberg-usb-32-dock-for-m2nvme-ssd-ssd-hard-drive-accessories-24193048
or this that is low expensive ? https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/lc-power-m2-housing-lc-m2-c-nvme-m2-hard-drive-enclosures-12005378
Both should work
