Even some ideas on how best to trouble shoot? I've tried running trace and can't see anything odd.

Hey @ebon rose yes, I created the issue and posted here. Did I do something wrong? I think I have it working now. I was using a legacy service "tts.google_cloud_say" vs "tts.cloud_say". Now it all seems to work perfect.

yes I kept that enable_automation: false from your default settings in the template. seems like the wrong service name was my issue. I got the name from you examples in the repo.

Hmm, that's strange, because in the trace I could see it's set to true
