What exactly are you trying to do? The Terminal add-ons are their own container with limited (the advanced add-on with a bit less limited) access to the hosts resources.

I'm trying to locate the IP address for my SolarEdge inverter. I know the MAC address so if I can do an arp scan I can locate the inverter.

I just installed the other add-on 'Advanced SSH & Web Terminal' and that provides access to the end0 device so I can do the arp scan.
