#Light sensors/approach to support automatic brightness
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Oh, I have one of those IKEA sensors! I don't think I can read the light level directly from it though?
I just checked and you are right, it doesn't expose that information, even though it does track it.
I get an "Illuminance above threshold" entity, true or false
exactly
And only when the motion sensor is in night mode
Right now my best solution is an IKEA shortcut button with a picture of a light on it. Pressing it overrides the automation and puts all the lights on at high brightness.
I do the same. I have a scene that I slowly transition into 30 minutes before sunset, but if it's dim outside, the button will just set the scene immediately.
I also had a vibration sensor with no other job to do, so thumping the table does the same ๐
haha ๐
But these IKEA buttons are cheap, small and easy to just place where you need them. I even painted mine to make them fit with the color of (my wifes) choice ๐
I ended up on that forum thread as well a few minutes ago - without getting me much further
And going full on custom ESP32 is maybe a bit too time-consuming for what I can invest in this right now ...
I don't see from the graph why the tuya was bad. Maybe just net sensitive indoors?
The review on this says that reported lux values keep going to 0 https://www.amazon.co.uk/BOROCO-Temperature-Thermometer-Hygrometer-Intelligent/dp/B09V2W1KN1/ref=asc_df_B09V2W1KN1?tag=bingshoppinga-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=79989653859496&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=m&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583589123110263&psc=1
