First of all: Multi-PAN is at this point just experimental and has a few issues. We first stabilize the other (more popular) routes such as using existing border router(s) from Apple or Google and the HA SkyConnect in Thread only mode. Once we have that in stable form, we will focus more/again on Multi-PAN. Note that at this point we do not advise it for production setup as it will crash some times. When we have added more diagnostic tools it will also be easier for us to debug those issues.

That said, if you want to use Multi-PAN and use the single radio for both thread and zigbee then at this time I'd advise a total device amount (so both zigbee and thread combined) of 30 as a safe maximum.

Note that in most cases you do NOT need the tread radio of the SkyConnect if you have an extsing topology in place such as Apple homepods that serve as border routers. HA can utilize thos eborder routers independent of Apple Home and it will have a much better experience (thanks to for example TREL) than a single SkyConnect radio.

Thanks - I appreciate the warnings. At this moment I'm mainly curious to explore how the Multi-PAN is architected and what the configuration options are. I'd likely leave it running as a testbed for devices that are doing wierd things.
