First of all: Nice post!

Note 1: Bluetooth is not used for communication, only for commissioning.

Note 2: About credentials sharing for thread networks: This is a goal from the Thread Group itself so it will eventually come someday.

Note 3: About Thread support for HA, the big fat warning aplies for Multi PAN. The Thread only firmware for the SkyConnect and Yellow is pretty stable but we're lacking all the UI to properly support it, and currently the only way you can use it is when using an Android phone and make sure you do NOT have a google border router in your house (or will never add one). This will be fixed in the upcoming weeks/months where the SkyConnect/Yellow will be a path for users who do not want any hardwar efrom apple/google. But I agree with with your point that the best experience will be Apple Border routers with TREL atm.

Note 4: Make sure to notice that some switches/router shave broken IGMP/MLD implementations that could possibly harm the matter discovery packets so I always advise users to first test with it enabled and in case of trouble always test a round without.

Note 5: You may add (if you want) that we will display the IPv6 address of devices soon in the Matter UI within HA).

@grim cloak Updated article is live. Made all the changes, except #4. Blog post #3 in the series has a whole section on mDNS tips and I cover IGMP/MLD in there, and how it's broke on some switches.

Excellent job, wow. I really, really, really hope people will read this very enhanced explanation of yours to better understand why I'm yelling at them to not mess with their network without understanding what they're doing 😅 .
