Why are you looking for a switch?

#

What makes you think one exists for local only?

#

I'd said:

Then don't use anything other than 100% local notifiers
Whatever you're using, apparently the official app, uses the cloud, 100% of the time

ok I cannot deactivate it?

flint locust
#

No

#

You need to use another platform

heady fossil
#

yes the official app, but without a cloud account

that's why i was not expecting it to work outside the house

flint locust
#

You don't need a cloud account for cloud messages to work

heady fossil
#

Ah ok, many ways to get notifications 😀

flint locust
#

I suspect you'll need to set up a local Apprise server, and pick one of the platforms it supports that's entirely local

#

Almost every other option there is cloud based

heady fossil
#

Hm ok..

flint locust
#

And, obviously, install the client on your phone

heady fossil
#

sure

flint locust
#

Or realise that Google/Apple already have far more data than your notifications

#

Or set up one of the encrypted cloud platforms, like Signal

heady fossil
#

yeah I think I keep it as it is

#

no private data in the notifications

#

but it was strange to me

#

thanks for clarify

The docs aren't 100% obvious, but they do mention that they use Apple's Push Notification Service or Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging

heady fossil
#

yeah, it is just when your hosting something on your own it is normally clear that's not reachable from outside as long as you not set it up in your router

flint locust
#

True, but it's not that HA is reachable, it's that HA sends messages to the cloud platform your phone uses

heady fossil
#

so I was surprised to get this message from behind my firewall 🤷‍♂️
