I surely could have better formatted that, but the general problem is that my zwave js add-on crashes every few mintues (and I tried Zwave js UI) but it does the exact same thing.

I think it started with an update on thursday, and i can't figure out what else to test. I know there are a few failed nodes in my network that i haven't removed, but now i can't clean that up at all 😦

#

Would love any ideas. I'm running ZWaveJS 0.1.93 and recently tried the HA beta to see if that helped anything so i'm currently on Home Assistant 2023.10.0b3 but that doesn't seem to have improved anything

There are quite a few issues and forums threads covering this. Are you using a VM?

narrow valley
#

Yeah the standard haos on a RPi4

autumn terrace
#

that's not a VM then. what controller?

narrow valley
#

yeah i suppose it's dockerized and not a VM. It's a Nortek/GoControl HUSBZB-1

#

and i've tried switching to ZWaveJS UI and disabling soft-reset but i get a similar behavior

autumn terrace
#

If you disabled soft reset you wouldn't get the same error

narrow valley
#

yeah it's not the same, but it still fails at about the same point, let me get the other message to see if it's more instructive

#

there's a narrow window when it does actually work and can control my lights and such, but it fails like this repeatedly every time just after starting

#

hang on

#

realize i've got soft reset turned on again somehow...

autumn terrace
#

If soft reset is disabled, but it still tries, I'd submit a bug

#

You should also turn on debug level for driver logs

narrow valley
#

it tries to reset the driver and fails and dies at the same point

autumn terrace
#

what version of zui?

narrow valley
#

2.0.1

#

Do you know which project that bug likely sits with?

autumn terrace
#

node-zwave-js. you don't have the latest though, so there's a possibility it was addressed.

#

if you want to submit an issue, it will require debug-level driver logs

narrow valley
#

Is there a way i can update just that component?

#

(i have to run, appreciate the help and will follow up in a bit)

autumn terrace
#

no, you have to wait for add-on maintainer to update. it usually lags behind (of course), time varies.

#

You might want to just rollback to backup (if you have one) of the prior working version and wait for these, if you're in a bind.

narrow valley
#

ok went back to an older Addon backup and it works fine, except now it's not compatible with the zwave integration so i'm trying to figure out the best way to roll taht back

autumn terrace
#

with 2023.9?

#

If you use the Z-Wave JS add-on, you need at least version 0.1.88. If you use the Z-Wave JS UI add-on, you need at least version 1.15.9. If you use the Z-Wave JS UI Docker container, you need at least version 8.23.2. If you run your own Docker container or some other installation method, you will need to update your zwave-js-server instance to at least 1.31.0.

#

I guess if you don't have any version inbetween the most recent broken ones, and 0.1.88 / 1.31.0, then you might be stuck w/o downgrading HA

yeah for some reason it dropped the connection to my nas and i've got a few months with very sparse backups 😦
