#There’s a z way add on for HA that

Doesn't that mean I'll have to manually install z-way on the yellow? I guess I can, it's just super annoying.

If they can flash the controller from z-way, why can't they just release the binary that does the update without packaging it in their own z-wave controller software? 😠

I did this not too long ago. I installed the zwave.me zway add-on, changed the mqtt port to something which didn't conflict with my existing mqtt broker, stopped zwave-js ui and started the zway add-on. Then I used it to update the firmware and this took several rounds as the firmware needs to update to a minimum version before updating to later versions. Once it was current I stopped the zway add-on and started zwave-js back up.

This turned out to be easier than I thought. Thanks for the tip! I've got the z-way addon installed and it did indeed make the firmware update process a ton easier, once I found the right place to click the right button. Overall I still prefer zwave.js over this UI, so I'm probably going to switch back after this is done.

I've seen that version graph thing before and it seems like... not the best way to convey that information.

Just to follow up on this, I installed the z-way server addon (which comes from the manufacturer) and upgraded the chip firmware. After that the newer zwave-js versions work fine.
