I saw you mention in the other channel that you already have a SimpliSafe system but you're having trouble integrating it? I wouldn't go with them for cameras or anything, but since you've already got it might as well integrate it, that's what I did. What happens when you try? Is there a particular error message?
I agree with this
Also, there fire /co2 sensors feel really cheap.
It's also not as fast. So think about security verse information. Like you don't want to open s door when it's armed all the time. If that makes any sense. Also the range is incredible on the sensors. They use mostly RF
Yeah the sensors aren't going to update in HA near as fast as a Zigbee sensor since the integration relies on the SimpliSafe cloud. But the primary purpose for those sensors is to update with the SimpliSafe base station and trigger the alarm and they do that very well and reliably.
Also the SimpliSafe app sucks and the integration lets me avoid having to use it.
well, I tried to install the integration, according to the docs I needed to setup MFA - then login using the link in the integration documentation and input the 45 digit authorization code.. I setup MFA, used the link and get a error saying the page address is invalid - so I figured it's broken/does not work anymore....
I'd much rather integrate simpli-safe for all the reasons mentioned (price, range, etc). and yes, I have their water sensors, 3 fire sensors and about 40 door/window sensors, so replacing will be expensive.
Well, call me an idiot - after doing it yet again to document why it did not work here, I just got it to work
no clue what I was doing wrong
but I swear to god I was about to pull my hair out earlier trying to get it to work
Nice
The initial setup can be temperamental ime, it failed a couple times for me too for no discernable reason, but I've been using the integration for a while and the only time it broke aside from WiFi issues was SimpliSafe's fault, and the devs had it fixed in like a day.
that is good to hear - no clue why I could not get it to work earlier - following the exact same steps...
thanks @honest kindle and @limber flare - appreciate the nudge to get me to try it again. This at least lets me take my time figuring out how I'm going to replace SS down the road - I don't like paying them 30/month for their horrid software.
I do agree their hardware reliability and price is great. That is honestly the only good thing they have going for them.
Not sure there is anything I'd trust myself setting up to auto call 911 though - so there is that.
last thing I need is cops showing up and killing me cuz I screwed up a config.
just put "YAML" on my gravestone.
Yeah that's the thing, having reliable emergency dispatch and the associated discount on your homeowners insurance.
Not something you can get with a totally DIY, self monitored system.
yep
