if it helps, I'm going for stuff that has promising potential for upgrades on ZB3.0 (like the aqara stuff) or thread stuff. I want as few ecosystems as possible ^^

When I started with buying devices I had some Z-Wave and some Zigbee. I ditched the Z-Wave (I only had like 2 devices) and while at my apartment focused on Zigbee. Bought the SkyConnect Dongle when it came out because of the promise of Thread/Matter, and am trying to go forward with Thread/Matter only - like you the less ecosystems to manage the better. Also avoiding Cloud based systems as well when possible.

Same here. The only reason I have a homepod mini in the house is for basic siri voice commands. If I can, i'll ditch it for HA in the future (not sure it's quite ready for wifey yet lol)
