can i get help to downgrade
Share your installation method
im not sure how to get the logs out of the virtualbox unless you mean the logs that virtualbox outputs at the system level
You can SSH in and copy them from putty or whatever you use as SSH client
install, i dont remember the initial way, i think i got a virtual image from HA. and the upgrade was down through the UI in settings
ahh right ssh, one sec
So most likely HAOS. See here: https://www.home-assistant.io/common-tasks/os#run-a-specific-version
ha core update --version previousversionhere --backup
You wanted to know how to downgrade. You can run this via SSH or directly in the VirtualBox window
Since you run VirtualBox I'm sure you've created a snapshot of the VM, right? Right? Whatever you configured.
What error are you getting exactly? Also check the logs: https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/operating-system/debugging/#checking-the-logs
i was using the google backup within HA and the backup whenever it did an update
You could nuke the VM and restore it
theres no error when i try and downgrade. it just says command completed successfully and then nop change in version
The logs it is then
im trying to figure out the creds for ssh
Unless you configured the SSH addon with your public key or gave it a user/password you have none
i honestly dont remember
im going to recover from the backup taken the day of the upgrade
and then i need to make sure i have the SSH stuff setup proper and also take vm snapshots as well as the google backups
Sounds like a plan
its already restoring now
thanks for the help. i thought i was running the commands wrong
Maybe but the fact is that some commands/actions in HA have painfully little response/feedback
