I've determined the cause - this is flex-grow: 1 in chrome and changing it in firefox debug/inspector to 1 sovles the display. Not sure why its ending up 0 in ff though

I know I saw similar screenshots during the beta, don't remember what the resolution was.

interesting - that problem was ok on firefox and not on safari - mines ok in chrome, and not in ff. Can't see any reference to a resolution 😦
