why would that be out of scope? It is a sql statement collecting data, whether it updates a single value in the sensor state or pushes the data to a file does not seem all that different. Either way, not wanting to go into a lengthy discussion. How would you propose a solution then as I would copy almost all of the SQL sensor code, just add 'create file' to it.
