#Hi May I know why it is considered a bad

Looks like the subject change. Will try to read again
There were a lot of points there, and rather than me repeating it all again I just want to ensure you've actually read it
I read it. I had the same question as who asked in first place: how and if it was possible to install Plex media server on the HA. Looks like it's a bad idea, which I accept. Next question would be "ok then, what do I need?"
Looks like the subject changed to other kind of questions. If there are some guides over the internet I'd read them, because all I can find are tutorials on how to install plex software ๐ฆ
- Pi4 makes a shitty server, doubly so for Plex
- HAOS is not a general purpose server OS
Great. So I'd say I need an additional server (Would another raspberry work?) where I can install only the software
That's why I asked if you'd read the posts there, because they were pretty brutal about how shit a Pi is for Plex
Yeah I noticed. I thought it was because Plex would run on the same machine
Well, there were two points
- The Pi is not a good server
- The Pi is underpowered for Plex
If you want a good plex server then that's more #hardware-archived - or the Plex forums - since it depends on your storage and transcoding needs
I see. I thought it would have been easier
Thank you very much for your answers and sorry if I made you waste time
If you want can stream and not transcode then you can get by on a Pi
If you don't know what that means then ... you've got a lot of learning to do
Yeah I guess! ๐
I just wanted a place where to place my tv shows and play them from wherever
but looks like it's harder than i thought
Well, it might be, but it's not a simple answer
If all your media is suitable encoded for all your playing devices then you can stream, not transcode, just fine from a Pi
If it isn't then you need to be able to transcode, and then many other factors come into play
Usually i download stuff, put on a pen drive and then i move the pen drive. If the file can be accessed from the pen drive I'd say they can be accessed from the Pi as well
Without any transcoding
Right, so ... format is anybody's guess... that's what I expected
So maybe it is feasable with the Pi ๐ค
