There's various pinned messages, but the TL/DR is that the only caveats are with Sonoff's end devices (many are problems), Osram's Zigbee 1.2 range (they're terrible) and some Tuya gear

Thanks. Does that mean I can grab bulbs from Ikea and they'll be controllable directly from Yellow, without any intermediate hub?

I still need to decide whether I want to go the bulb route, or search for in-wall modules that work well without neutral and control whole lamps

I'd recommend in-wall over bulbs - then wall switches "just work"
