Hi, I am not an expert, but the purpose of the secrets.yaml file is to remove secrets from configuration.yaml because typically people would share their configuration file, and obviously, not the secrets... Still secrets are not encrypted in secrets.yaml.

#

For configurations created by config flows, I am not sure people need to ever share that information, because precisely, the config flow avoids having to deal with yaml...

You should definitely repost this in a dev channel, like Rob said, but I'm also curious to the answer.

From looking at other integrations, it seems pretty common for integrations to store creds in their config entry. However, this does kinda seem like bad practice so I'd be curious to hear another answer.

I know there's also the concept of "application credentials" (go to integrations and click on the 3-dot menu in the top right) which I've only seen a few integrations use.
