This is getting more complicated...We need to determine why 443 isn't showing open at all externally.
should I have 8080 or 80 forwareded?
sorry for typos 12 hours into this today alone and another 12 yesterday
I don't have 443 to 8123
that's okay, but I am silently judging you. 😉
Oh, well that's a problem.
external.IP.add.ess:443 -> internal.ip.addr.ess:8123
that comes with the territory i suppose so ill take it!! Besides you have been generous with all the help like all the others that have popped in.
my issue is that i did that and nothing happened I restarted the router and lost all connection and had to go ALL the way to the basement and terminal there to reboot
I like the challenge. Sometimes I drop into a channel like #node-red-archived to help others solve problems as a way of learning.
Well, that's the forward you need...I can't help with your proximity to your router.
How do I find that thread with Blue Jay?
I hate Discord, I don't find it very intuitive.
so not sure if you are using ddwrt or good with it. It seems you are so maybe you can help here.
that is the range forward so no way to port -> port just port to ip
then there is this
stand by, reading docs here: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Port_Forwarding#Port_Forwarding_using_the_Webinterface
but I don't quite understand the source net.
I tried it blank with the vm NOT the bare metal ip in the 'ip address' and 8123
OOOOOOOHHHH
standby to standby
lol
if I https://xx.xx.xx.xx I get invalid client id now
Do you know what device is returning that message?
thats with wan so should be expected as its not the url
if I duckdns.org it works now
trying alexa link now
...rubs hands together.
no go but...... I have aws connecting with 8123 so let me go change some things
If you're able to access your HA instance externally using DuckDNS and HTTPS, you're golden and the problem is AWS/Alexa config now
I could kiss you on the MOUTH!!! not sure what did it but it worked this time
So when you are ready to do this let me know and try to schedule you some time to help you through it
haha, my memory is so bad when it comes time to work on this, if I don't figure it out I'll just come to Discord and ask, maybe you'll remember me and help.
I'm going to be doing Google though
I have google working so hopefully I can help with that
With Google, that processing is still happening in the cloud, correct?
google sucks fyi
Because what I really want is to move voice processing on-prem
yes and no
But hopefully use my google devices as microphones
I haven't looked into this that much yet.
If I recall I created an app for it to function
Yeah, I had to do the whole app creation bullshit to get my Nest thermostat working
I'm slowly trying to get all control on-prem
Matter/Thread should help with that
yea that I don't recall if google was one that you could do that with if so it was really limited from what I recall
What timezone are you in?
CA Pacific here, so we're not too far off, our days overlap somewhat when I do come looking for help
-8
feel free to ping me or dm
cheers, I may do that
i have it on my phone so I should hear or see it
do my best to make time. least I can do for what you put up with.
Also, go to bed,
I have to get all my ports closed and change all those over to internal ips now that will be fun
im probably going to be up for a while
Best of luck, I haven't run DDWRT in...man, I don't even know how long.
what do you use now?
I don't have issues with the forwarding when it wants to work
just the home assistant side will be interesting
they all go to the duckdns.org url and in through the wan
as of now
Meraki currently, but I've been thinking of replacing the firewall with a Ubiquiti and eventually migrating the whole network to Ubiquiti
thats something I need to do better is networking
I work in IT and get a lot of gear free/cheap
funny, my wife hates her job and just today I started her on a course on networking
You don't want this gear, the MX-64 is limited to 250MB/s
ah yea that is old lol
That's my main replacement reason...that and getting license renewals has been getting more difficult.
I'd give you an MX-64 if you wanted one, but you'd have to buy a license that would be more expensive than it's worth.
I've got 3xMS220-8P
they require a license to function?
Yes
wowzers
but I also have a couple of Mellanox SN2010's that I'm going to replace the Meraki switches with
What do you do now?
been doing this home lab stuff for a long time and build all my own pc for 20 years
