mail has arrived in box (on/off)
how long my kids have been napping (time)
it's just for read-out - no actions for me
i dont understand. this wouldnt be a notification once triggered?
read out?
interesting
not sure if i love that or hate it tbh
lol
what code is required for that end result?
Nothing too serious. It's a series of emojis and templates to get the states of sensors. I'll be writing up a forum post at some point to detail it all out.
In any case.... Regardless of how you implement it, it's a nice passive display of information that you can check on-demand.
yeah
i guess i was thinking more of triggers to automations
not displaying things
makes sense you'd want the latter
I also like having my action buttons quickly available if my phone is in my pocket. The next step for me is to rework my actions and notifications and work toward something like this: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/advanced-control-from-my-apple-watch-using-single-automations-setting-lights-vacuum-temperature-sleep-mode-and-more/238254
that does look nice
i've been holding off because it seems pretty "manual" for settings all this up.. plus my watch is old as shit
maybe once i upgrade it and get a bigger screen i'll revisit and do something like that
saved for later thx
A lot of it can be done on the Home Assistant side, with only some minor "manual" configuration left over on the iOS side.
hey black bear - is there a way to prevent the complications from launching the HA watch app? I asked this before but i keep ending up there by accident and if i'm not careful i accidentally activate a bunch of scenes listed there
i want them to be purely read-only
or as close to that as possible
Short of not having any actions, sadly not. I've had an open feature request for ages to have the list of actions customizable by complication, but nothing has been done to the watch functionality in quite some time.
i can't seem to prevent the watch app from listing EVERY scene, either. i remove them then they come back again the next day
try linking it and adding a forum post on the WTH page
maybe that'll get some fresh eyes on it
can't tell you how many times i woke up our kids by accidentally having those scenes tapped on the watch from those two complications
is there a way to do actionable stuff like actionable notifications where it pops up with a confirmation?
that might prevent it! if possible...
There certainly is. See the link above for an extreme example.
what is the actual action/complication tho?
Not sure I understand the question…. Actions are just buttons. You define the automation they are attached to to do whatever you want. If it want to make them trigger actionable notifications that need to be confirmed before taking some other action, you can do that.
That being said, that’s not an option for the “Scene” actions that are automatically created. To prevent those from being activated, you would need to disable them outright in the app.
That’s what I do. Though, there’s a bug where they sometimes come back, so I have to go through the process again from time-to-time.
do you have a complication on your watch face that launches that custom set of commands?
No. All complications launch the Home Assistant app, which is essentially just a list of all actions / scenes that have been defined.
i see. so that's neat, but won't prevent the problem. i've already added 10 dummy scenes that don't do anything so most of the time i'm safe
