#I am running via VM through VirtualBox

What install? HA/OS or generic supervised?
If you're running HA/OS it might be difficult; you would need to attach the storage from the original (non-working) VM to a new VM with a fresh installation of HA/OS, setup, and configured; while the new VM is shutdown I believe you can add the virtual storage from the original VM (so long as the orignal VM is shutdown)
So, basically have to connect a new HA install to the old so I can get to my files for the moment and then remove/replace this one?
I think it would work, but like I said, difficult
IMHO, remote backup and recovery is one of the missing features of HA/OS OOTB
I agree. Or a simple repair tool that could launch in a safe mode.
FWIW, check out github.com/ageathome; not done (yet), but its an all-in-one, completely automated, configuration and utilization of HA; primarily being targeted at seniors living alone with kids who are concerned about their well-being; if you have time to screw around ๐
And if you're willing to swim in deep waters, there is also github.com/motion-ai, the "parent" of ageathome which also includes ability to configure cameras through the add-on; hwoever, it is not "packaged" as an add-on (completely, since it uses additional containers for AI processing of the images); right now using motion-project to handle cameras, but have used Frigate (w/ Coral) and it rocks! Need to start using that.
cool, thank you.
I think there is a remote backup and recovery option for HA, but IDK what it is ๐
