Sorry I came back here, is this message for me? with regards to my problem above....sorry I know this is not a support forum...but just wanted to know if this message was for me. Everything boots from the USB to answers your question, so I guess its the latter.

I'll have to figure out how to migrate now, if I'm on full boot from SSD, or do I have to star all over? ok some homework...

to migrate from USB Boot to datadisk hybrid mode...something like this:

#
  1. Backup the system
  2. Re-flash the RPi4 to boot from SD
  3. Install HAOS on SD.
  4. Recovery from backup
  5. Then implement data disk from there
