What's the best way to test this?

Setup the Cast integration, then run one of the blueprints or cast it manually via an automation. Call Service -> Google Cast: Show lovelace view.
I have a pretty locked down network, makes me wonder if something is not being broadcast correctly, but what is interesting is that casting audio from HA works fine, and every other google home casts fine, also I can cast from my phone to the Nest, so what ever is blocked must be specific to video and HA...

Just tried it on my Nest Hub Max via nabu casa and, when I swipe to the right it minimizes the cast screen with the play button on the bottom but home assistant also correctly says playing
