Issue is that the dimmer also has a on/off property, but I want to ignore it so that the actual switch light button matches the status of the LED lights.

I could not physically connect the switch to the dimmer and use HA to sync the two states, but I like the availability to still turn on/off the lights even if HA is offline

Ok. I achieved what I wanted to do using a light template. Can combine the two entities that way.
