And how do you know the problem is with duckdns? 20 minutes on an RPi4 seems normal to me if you have some stuff running
it happened after i installed duckdns
But SSL works?
@lethal root Ok, I'll move the answer to #integrations-archived @reef ingot , thankyou
mraedis, it takes 15 minutes now. i have almost nothing running
have disabled everything
but that is normal then?
if you can connect to https://yoururl.duckdns.com then it's SSL
i can connect to that address but with .org
Hey all. I'm using the fantastic VScode Addon from @raven tinsel I really love it but I have one problem. I backup my whole configuration to my private gitea Server. I have done this via ssh direkt from the server. Now I want to do this within the VSCode Addon. Sadly when I try to push my changes I get the following error: Git: fatal: unable to access 'https://path/to/my/projekt/': Failed to connect to my.server.tld port 443: Connection timed out. Can someone give me a hint for finding the problem?
Maybe this is a problem with the container of the addon and the network settings of it?
@strange cove You need to do it SSH keys instead of HTTP checkouts
due to the nature of code-server, it won't work with http repos
ah okay so i have to configure this in my gitea installation. I will give it a try. Thank you @raven tinsel for all the good work you are doing for the community!
hey there. I have looked everywhere and can't find it out. How can I give users (that are not admin) the ability to access an addon like grocy or so from the hassio Dashboard.
Here's a sneak peek of the new filter manager in the log-viewer add-on.
@dreamy mural looks fantastic!
Thank you.
It will basically allow you to apply any CSS properties to lines that contain specific text (or match a specific pattern).
Let's Encrypt - Where/how do i enter the config information for this to work? I had it working till the certificates recently expired.
Ah Thanks!
@merry lynx did you restart your HA during this time? new certs don't load unless you restart
It is working now. Thanks for the quick response
Hello
I'm looking to set up https
For the moment I'm redirecting my local address to my personal dns.
I installed the addon let s encrypt
But I can't get it to work.
can you help me.
Thank you
need help with getting motion eye "detection" settings to work on an outside camera. What are some of the settings everyone uses to eliminate false detection?
Hey, has anybody else the problem that the adGuard addon is really slow leading to the router (fritzbox in my case) selecting the second dns server instead of the preferred adGuard DNS running in my hass.io
I already added multiple dns servers and activated simultaneous requests. I also never had this problem when i used the pihole addon
Thanks already
Hey im trying to install zigbee2mqttassistant but it isnβt appearing in the list. Iβm using hassi 0.109.6
It's not a default addon so you need to add the repository first @marble ledge
Toni, never had that problem.
@weary stratus What external URL are you using? Lets Encrypt does not give certificates for local domains
@lethal root i use my external url
Show me your configuration without the passwords and replace the url with something like xyz.com
@lethal root email: postmaster@xxxxxx.fr
domains:
- maison.xxxxxxx.fr
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
challenge: dns
dns:
dnsprovider: dnsxxxx.ovh.net
ovh_application_secret: FdcytgMrKnq48Q376xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ovh_application_key: 7lDeZqxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
But I'm not sure which of these two keys I got.
And i dont know what is my ovh_consumer_key: '' ans where found ovh_endpoint: ''
I don't know what the french word for consumer key is though
@weary stratus did you read that?
basically you curl with the application key
And the response is a consumer key
the endpoint, as far as I can tell, is the location you want to connect to
No endpoint is one of their servers I think
And consumer key is something you get with curl
Thanks. I'll try.
@lethal root could you help me for Requesting an authentication token from OVH on https://docs.ovh.com/gb/en/customer/first-steps-with-ovh-api/
when I go on https://eu.api.ovh.com/1.0/auth/credential, I don't understand what I'm supposed to do
Good morning! About the Ngnix Proxy Manager add-on... Now that its stores it data in the MariaDB, how do I purge data/config if I want to reinstall the Ngnix add-on?
Remove addon, install phpmyadmin, wipe nginx proxy db?
@weary stratus look up curl first
in my opinion, OVH is making it not exactly easy to do dynamic dns updates π
What browser are you using @weary stratus
trying to install hacs to my home assistance, hacs folder is in the custom_components, restarted home assistance, cleared cache, but its not showing up in the integrations page and dont see anything in logs at all about it, is there something im missing?
Did you do step 4?
Step 4 - Create custom_components folder
Open the folder where you have your configuration.yaml file.
If you do not see a custom_components folder in the same folder as configuration.yaml, you need to create it.
Also the next few steps say to use the github token to add the integration manually
It won't magically show up
i got the github token but the configuration for it in integrations isn't even showing up after i search for it
and yes i have custom_components folder, i even used the bash script to install too after my attempt failed
nope, not on the list at all
Well I don't use HACS so I'm not too much of help there
i'm very very new to home assistant but far from my first open source thing i've used, not sure where i went wrong here, did do the update recently and got the new UI page for integrations.
I have a question about the Ubiqiti addon.. My AP is not able to be adopted to the controller. It keeps saying ''Adopting''
Now it seems that port 8080 is needed to communicate. When I visit http://192.168.178.36:8080/ it is re-directed to https://192.168.178.36:8443 (controller page)
Were can I check were that re-direction is installed?
I spoke with the helpdesk from Ubiqiti and they said that that was the problem why the AP is not able to adopt
@blissful acorn configuration page of your ubiquiti addon
Supervisor -> Unifi -> COnfiguration (top middle) -> Network
You should see this: https://prnt.sc/sgnl4y
THx
WIll check
But this is default right ?
8080 is only for communicatiopn
why is there a re-direct to 8443
my screenshot is default
Are you sure it's not redirecting to 8843? Which is the https link
Yes its redirecting
But i spoke to someone from Ubiqti and he said that is not normale.. Because port 8080 is in ''use'' now (redirecting)? the AP cannot be included
Could you screenshot your network config for me?
Well i sort off fixed te problem.. Installed the controller on my ubuntu VM and that was working fine instantly
Can't do presence detection with that though
But you might D:
is it reliable ?
It uses connected devices to your ubiquiti AP, so as long as people connect to the wifi, sure
This is home/not home, not room-scale detection
yes
Super simple question I think, just getting started with HASS, I believe I installed a repository the wrong way for HACS but now can't seem to remove it. Clicking the little trash can next to it does nothing. I have the ssh/terminal addon installed but can't sort out where to go to manually remove it
@hollow cairn there's a bug and it's made it kind of like a game
try clicking on the very edge of the circle that appears around the trash icon
great, now I'm back to trying to get jason0x43/hacs-hubitat to work
when I add the fully qualified github url it adds but doesn't work, when I try just jason0x43/hacs-hubitat, it never adds
is there a special place to click π
are you sure this is an addon?
ah, that's an integration
a custom integration
So, integrations are these https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations
Those are all the official integrations
it mentions adding this in "HACS" which is what I thought I was doing
HACS is a store for all the custom, unsupported integrations
cogneato where can i ask for help with HASC?
I just can't find "marketplace -> settings" in any menu
supervisor -> addon store is what I thought I'd determined it to be
AH
it's a custom integration, which organizes the majority of custom integrations out there into one place
I tried the command-line method recently and it worked well
thanks, that's what I'm following now
man.... that UI looks ugly
yeah...whoever is responsible for that...we should find them and poke them with sharp sticks
That, and the big advertisement for HACS on every page if you scroll too far
You have a good amount of installed stuff there, where many have updates, can you send me your /config/.storage/hacs.repositories file?
sure
That is only in the beta due to the icon changes
command line doesn't seem to work on hassio (the image install on a rpi4
it did work?
nah, it does not have all the tools, use ssh addon
oh yeah...that's what I used
@hollow cairn enable advanced mode for your user, and install the terminal and ssh addon
then you'll have a terminal where you can run the command
I did
maybe it just wont work in the web terminal
let me try through SSH
yeah same result
curl -sfSL https://hacs.xyz/install | bash -
Trying to find the correct directory
Could not find the directory for Home Assistant.
Manually change the directory to the root of your Home Assistant configuration
With the user that is running Home Assistant
and run the script again
You probably do not have a log file for homeassistant yet
if you are in the ssh addon, touch /config/home-assistant.log
yup, that was it, thx
interesting that it's looking for that log file vs something that gets created like configuration.yaml or home-assistant_v2.db
configuration.yaml is not HA spesific, home-assistant_v2.db does not exsist if you use an external DB
ah
usually there is a logfile (unless something changed recently)
buuuut, that is part of HA core, and HACS is not an addon, so if you need any more please use #integrations-archived π
Was Pi-Hole Deprecated because the entire service is broken, or just the Home Assistant Add-On?
@granite adder not pi hole itself https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-pi-hole#deprecation-warning

is there a way to assign a light switch to an area?
Hey so I want to access storage location for one of the addons
is there a way I can access it?
@inland grove configuration > devices. Find the device, and select it, then use the gear in the upper right
I don't see a device for a light switch, like https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/light.switch/
some of my lights have devices where they're dimmers and the zwave component creates a light entity, but for non-dimming lights they make switch entities, and I need to use light.switch above to make lights
that would appear as a switch which you assign an area?
it would appear as a light within the area, like a dimmable light does
but this new fake version of it doesn't...i see
I thought it might inherit it, but apparently not
would be nice. I haven't had to make use of that integration mysaelf
searching for "area" in the documentation is useless, unfortunately
@lethal root i try firefox and edge
(it picks up a bunch of "are a" instances and doesn't show anything else)
hey.. I have a question regarding the MQTT add-on.. when I install it, it looks like everything is fine but I can't sent messages to it because the broker is only listening to the internal network and not the public network. Somehow the service is not published outside the docker network.
Is there something I'm overlooking?
the samba add-on doesn't have this issue btw, I can perfectly connect to that one
Hi, i run HA version 0.109.6, upgraded yesterday. I just noticed that the "SSH-server" add-on has been removed from the add-on store. Why? I used it before on older versions of HA, but hadn't used it for a while because of the migration of HA from rpi to a dedicated Linux-server for performance-reasons. I wanted to reinstall it, but it's gone now.
@obtuse widget It is considered an advanced add-on
enable advanced mode on your user profile
Advanced mode is already enabled. I do that always right after installation.
well that is the only thing that shows/hides it
π
hey @raven tinsel got any tips for me maybe?
I'm grasping straws here.. been battling this for 4 hours
Hey Frenck, when are you streaming again?
will install @unborn sandal hold on
isn't there a way to tell docker to bind the service to the bridge interface?
didn;t see you in a while on youtube
@obtuse widget When it all returns a bit to normal again here @ home
My wife has to work during these times, schools are closed so 2 kids at home
so my work shifts mostly to the evening
yep i know. i also live in Holland π
or try to do stuff during the day, but that is just harder
my wife also, she takes care of the elderly
continuous interrupts keep you from getting stuff done
tell me about it π¦
from outside the box?
yes
mind is blown
MQTT Explorer is on my desktop, different VLAN
what am I doing wrong..
are you using a raspberry
firewall in the way?
yeah I'm in the same configs
Need to add port descriptions... adding note to my list π
I converted the vmdk into a VM on ESXi ..there is no fw
it's the bare thing
Starting Nmap 7.80 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2020-05-15 01:33 CEST
Nmap scan report for 10.252.10.4
Host is up (0.018s latency).
Not shown: 998 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
139/tcp open netbios-ssn
445/tcp open microsoft-ds
this is the external ports list
hm.. none of them..
something is in the way, that's for sure
can you try from the inside?
127.0.0.1:8884
yeah .. the DOCKER chain in iptables is my guess
could be
guess docker needs the ports opened also
ok good luck i'll try to get sshserver back here π
anyone have the buttons vanish on their custom roku card after updating it?
yeah but the ssh add-on had disappeared from the store here dunno why
Frenck told it's advancee mode. But i always enable that
i'll try disabling then reenabling now.
maybe it helps.
thanks you too
the buttons are still there but I can't see them.
try google π nn
?
@obtuse widget if ssh addon doesn't show when in advanced mode then you may be on an old version?
i just was able to get things right here. I followed the advice of @unborn sandal and used the "Terminal and SSH"-add-on. I just got it up and running and can log in with SSH again. Works great! Thank you all for your help. Appreciated! π
My duckdns addon was stopped when internet was down, then when internet comes back, it doesn't restart. How can I fix it?
why was it stopped?
i think i crashes if there is a network error
Hi all, anyone having issues with ESP Home and nodes that appear as offline (even if they are not and data is pulled ok)? I am on HA 0.109.6 in Docker. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@dark yoke It didn't crash. After the internet comes back, I manually restart duckdns through LAN address accessing. The problem is how to set duckdns auto restart when the network backs to normal.
Restarting HomeAssistant Server will restart Add-ons too?
No
MyQ, Anyone have any experience with this? It seems that I can't sign in. each time i attempt to it give me an Unexpected error
hey i just installed custom header from HACS and i accedentally put it in kiosk mode, i dont know how to get out of it
Hello everyone. I am attempting to setup the TensorFlow add-on on my NUC>Docker>Hassio installation but keep getting: Unable to locate tensorflow models or label map. Any ideas?
MyQ, Anyone have any experience with this? It seems that I can't sign in. each time i attempt to it give me an Unexpected error
@craggy atlas I'm new to this. What what is your installation? I'm running on Linux Mint VM, and installed Supervised HA on it just a couple days ago. It found the MyQ integration and I simply entered my credentials for it to work
Because I'm testing, I don't have any sophisticated setup on the network (certificates etc) - just straight port 8123
I'm having difficulty accessing my HA server using the domain address on my network internally. From what I gather, its related to my router not having Nat Loopback/Hairpin capability. Some have noted the solution is to use DNSMasq. I've installed the Addon, but I am unable to get it running using the default settings. The issue is related to the Network section where the TCP/UDP is set to 53. If I delete the values....to NULL. Then the service runs, however I have no clue whether it is working properly, as there is nothing meaningful in the logs.
@jade wing hello again! Do I need to setup Doods in Docker in addition to running the add-on?
Rather than tagging folks and demanding help, why don't you just post the question?
I didn't mean to demand. I searched the term doods and saw that you have a lot of experience with it. My bad
Discord isn't like IRC, you don't have to tag people on every response. Keep in mind that every time you tag somebody, they get a notification ping. That can very quickly become annoying and people may block you.
Every time you tag somebody, they get a notification ping
This is, to put it gently, rather annoying when you're getting dozens and dozens a day
So, don't π
understood
Also, I don't use add-ons or #330944238910963714
so, I'd guess not, but you'll have to see what the add-on does
@peak onyx what addon are you using?
DOODS-amd64 by Snowzach
So, If I'm not running this "supervised" thing, how can I use HA as an MQTT-broker? Or is that impossible?
I don't have access to the "addon" button any longer
then it's not supervised?
uuh
If you're not running supervised then there are no addons
in portainer it says im running "home-assistant:stable"
Are you running straight docker?
Ye, I think so at least
does portainer show a supervisor container?
Not a single one.
then you're running plain old homeassistant
homeassistant core
you can find mqtt broker docker images out at docker hub and configure it for yourself
or maybe even portainer's "store" shows one
Hmm
you've chosen portainer's store over the supervisor store basically
and all the "freedom" that comes with that
So, If I want this supercharged version of home assistant, I want what is called supervisor?
and yeah, scare quotes
users would argue over which is the supercharged version
A month ago I installed hassio on an old laptop. Today i did what I though I installed the same stuff on a better computer, but now I cant install add-ons. Thats the short version.
I just want home-assistant with add-ons
What os is the better computer running
Right now ubuntu 20, non server version.
But it doesn't matter for me, I just thought it would work. I'll install whatever is needed for HA to work properly.
The docs for a generic install have been removed. You can still do it, but Debian would be a safer choice vs Ubuntu
you can follow this for supervised
when you get to the Hassio:Installation : curl command
it doesn't work...you have to download the file locally and execute though
then in the directory you downloaded the file to....
run
chmod u+x ./installer.sh
and then install with :
./installer.sh -d /home/<user>/docker/hassio
hi, where can i find the configuration file for motioneye ? on rpi 4
motioneye does not send photo, I need to set it up
do you mean the configuration for the addon?
yes
yes I know, but it's not there
yes
there is only this " motion_webcontrol: true
ssl: true
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
action_buttons: []
"
images go to /share directory last time I messed with it
you want to be careful with that btw
can easily fill up an SD card
are you running on a pi with HA OS?
yeah
you can't simply connect and pass through external drives through docker
you could use a node-red setup for it, probably: https://flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-email-out
@spice canopy I am running Supervised on the default OS. I used
- platform: myq
username:
password:
It shows up in my integration and that is where the issue is for the unexpected error
@craggy atlas are you able to remove it from your integrations and configurations - and let HA re-add it?
@spice canopy I haven't tried BUT, my Alexa app which i just looked at sees the MyQ and can open and close my door
using HA
@craggy atlas interesting. But you can not control it as an entity on your dashboard?
@spice canopy Yes, I can control it from my Dashboard. What i can't do is sign in here. .. hmm I forgot i Updated my HA just now so everything looks different. maybe i just needed to update
strange. Well if it works - then its one of those annoyances we've all come across at some point
hopefully an update sorts it out for you @craggy atlas
Yep, it's working just fine, Now to learn the Overview better to get cards to not go straight down lol
Oh Horizontal stack
@craggy atlas the layout is a bit clunky....but some people have done some amazing work from what I can tell. It's probably to do with my lack of skill
@spice canopy mosy likely the same for me
@craggy atlas trial by fire...literally just got my DNSMasq question sorted and fixed
now I can look to moving onto more complicated configuration with secure http and certificates
Yep, I'm starting on my Automation for when Garage Door Opens it flashes a light
good luck with that....seems doable like with IFTTT
Actually was extremely simple. I haven't tested but
well can't paste images here it seems
strangely they allow for GIFs
Ok, I got it to turn on but not flash
Hi, I'm setting up my remote access to HA. I already have a Netgear VPN solution established (OpenVPN), which updates my dynamic IP using NoIP, and it works fine. I just have to establish it every time I'm away from home to access HA (and get alerts, I suppose). This causes all of my mobile traffic to route through my home router internet connection, slowing things down a bit, and increasing my home bandwidth usage. I'd like to get some advice from others about whether this is a workable solution, or should I add the DuckDNS (with LetsEncrypt) Add-On, or should I add Ngninx, which I understand is more robust and solves some of the HTTPS (remote)/HTTP (local) issues. Any advice and pointers to more information would be appreciated. I've read all of the HA docs on all of this. Just can't decide which is optimal. Thanks!
@green heath similar to Ngninx....I've seen seen other implementations use Traeffik
@green heath if you are confident in your VPN I'd just keep that
You can also use a different dynamic IP solution other than duckdns
@lethal root I am confident in the current VPN, I just don't yet fully understand what I might be missing using it versus the other alternatives, if anything.
I use namecheap for example, but that one's not free (8 a year or so?)
It's all about ease of access really
I have an https domain to access my HA externally
That's about it Β―_(γ)_/Β―
You should be able to get HTTPS for your noip solution I think
Yeah, IDK, it is NoIP, and is free (which is not the norm), because it is provided by Netgear. Not sure I have many options beyond just the VPN.I remember reading that if you use DuckDNS solution, you can no longer access your HA with HTTP locally? It becomes HTTPS always. Is that true?
That's why some people said they chose NGNINX instead, to just serve the HTTPS only.
Yes that was a problem for
The NGinx is a kind of two steps forward 1 step back thing
You present https to the outside, but on your home network it's just http
Because HA itself is http
That's my understanding.
But nginx is https and redirects to HA
I had to use it like that because google tts doesn't work well with my router
Are there any messages from HA that require one method over another. I can get texts already.
If your router can do something called NAT loopback it shouldn't be a problem
the tts problem is that the google tts service is using an external url (e.g. mraedis.duckdns.org) to call a local service
your router needs to "understand" that the service just wants to go back inside
But not all routers can do that
According to a quick Google search, my Netgear R8500 does support NAT loopback.
is there an IDE/editor add-on that supports 32 bit machines?
"File Editor" ?
hmmm...it would appear my issues trying to access my HA server via domain name internally is back again. I though using DNSMasq addon was the solution. Would appreciate any insights on how to solve this problem. My router (Google Wifi) does not support Nat Loopback/Hairpin.
Hi folks! What is the preferred / recommended easy way to backup snapshots? Something like backup to Google drive would be great.
Anyone know where the nginx config file stored (HassOS)?
Please just help me clarify this: If I don't have the supervised version, is it completely impossible to use add-ons?
@atomic folio share folder?
docs should say
@charred veldt The "supervisor" is a docker container. It manages all the other containers that make up a supervised system. Addons are those docker containers
So yes, without the ecosystem that uses that, you have to configure your own. Addons are just software and services which are isolated into containers, which you would normally configure yourself on a manual installation.
any good way to check the logs of a plex addon that's failing to start? the log tab on the addon page doesn't have anything at all
@frail dragon when any addon doesn't start, you check the supervisor logs.
These are on the system tab in the ui
Try starting it again, and then go directly to those logs. You should see why
ah you're absolutely right. i see it now, port conflict. thanks π
dumb question - because i really just don't know, but when I have DNSMasq plugin started, am I supposed to see anything in the logs?
as I surf around on my devices, am I supposed to see that traffic register on DNSMasq?
just to follow up ... DNSMasq wasn't loading up properly on port 53 on my VM. For whatever reason port 53 was taken up by systemd. It can be resolved through these few commands
Hi All, long time user but have decided to start from scratch rather than migrate
Can anyone help with setting up 'Lets Encrypt'. I own a domain and have a static IP so dont need duckdns. Im running hassio on Raspberry PI and have setup all necessary port forwarding (80,443,8231) dont now how to generate certfile and keyfile
@vale isle The addon does that for you
You just activate it with the proper configuration
OK thanks @lethal root
How do I check if 'Lets Encrypt' is working correctly and is secure?
change scheme in base url?
Hey, quick question!
I have 2 piβs, tried to set up room assistant on theme for floor level tracking (upstairs, downstairs) setup a pi in my bedroom and one downstairs in the living, even if I rest my phone on the bedroom pi canβt manage to convince it to take control, it will be detected by the downstairs one...
Something like this @vale isle
http:
base_url: mraedis.url.xyz
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem
It should be a commented block in your configuration.yaml unless you already removed it
Can anyone help with setting up AdGuard?
I've fixed my RbPi IP to 192.168.0.115 using this guide: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/fixed-ip-address/69117
I've also installed HA Add-on
Setup guide in AdGuard panel in HA says I need to add these IPs as my DNS servers in my router:
But when I set them, I lose internet connection completely and can't open any website β I guess that's because I set the wrong DNS
I even tried setting DNS from AdGuard DNS service from here: https://kb.adguard.com/en/dns/setup-guide
And with those DNS I end up with the same result β nothing opens.
My AdGuard log is here (with debug level): https://gist.github.com/denysdovhan/589c40aa55634403008101911be2afca
@warm obsidian Do you have any kind of upstream server as well?
@lethal root my upstream settings look like this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/479349969812324352/711585056883474472/unknown.png
this is default configuration, i haven't changed anything
THere's the problem
It needs to know how to get to quad9.net
It needs a DNS server for that
If your router itself points back to your HA you just get an infinite loop of "idk, let me ask my boss" when you do DNS queries
isn't Bootstrap DNS for that? It's set to 1.1.1.1 in my case
Does anyone have any clue what to put in the platform section when setting up the tuya addon? I am using Brilliant smart, which is based around tuya
@lethal root btw, when i click test upstreams i get: Server "https://dns10.quad9.net/dns-query": could not be used, please check that you've written it correctly
even for default 1.1.1.1 server
I have:
1.1.1.1:53
9.9.9.9:53
And for the upstream:
https://dns10.quad9.net/dns-query
https://cloudflare-dns.com/dns-query
doesn't work for me
@lethal root testing any upstream (even default one) shows the error: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/479349969812324352/711606265960464405/unknown.png
What happens when you set your router to not use HA?
What do you mean?
Do you still get the errors
My router doesn't use adg as dns right now
ah
Did the addon start properly?
So not the web gui, but the addon log itself
You should have these lines:

@lethal root my logs are here: https://gist.github.com/denysdovhan/589c40aa55634403008101911be2afca
how do you set the debug
nvm
Only thing different is this line @clear oyster
Couldn't load filter 1 contents due to stat /data/adguard/data/filters/1.txt: no such file or directory
Did you edit some filter rules or such?
no I did not
Anyone having issues with duck dns in general?
I just came to ask the same @autumn flume , so yes
https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-adguard-home/issues/51 sounds like you could join in deny
I'm not using duck dns in homeassistant just on my ubuntu cloud vm
but website up but resolution failure
I used couple of "testing" websites and they also indicate duckdns to be down
Yeah its down
too bad .. hope they restore it soon .. π¦
Is there a way to get a human readable time instead of the timestamp in the mosquitto addon?
Good, they acknowledge it now
Yeah
Is there a way to get a human readable time instead of the timestamp in the mosquitto addon?
@hot fog
Is anybody reads this: Just addlog_timestamp_format %d.%m.%Y %H:%M:%Sto your config. Works great!
is still ont resolving for me π¦ I guess a bit of patience
ah I see .. then i guess just be patient until they resolve it 100%
is unpaid service so that's the little price to pay π
Is duckdns down?
yes.. still down for me at this time
I've installed the Glances addon but noticed there are no temperature sensors. According to the integration page this is platform specific. I'm running supervised in a Proxmox VM on an intel NUC, do I have another way to get the temperature sensors?
Uh phantom
You are trying to get hardware sensors from a virtual platform
There is no temperature because a VM doesn't have a temperature
.. right π
Guess I'll have to tinker around with Proxmox then, in order to get the actual temps
There is a proxmox integration/addon, but idk what it offer0s
It might be community made
@placid fulcrum https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/netdata/ maybe?
Install ND on the proxmox host and integrate it into your VM
There's probably quite a few more integrations/addons that could help you achieve the same
DuckDNS returned for me now π
What do I put for the platform line in my tuya configuration is I am using brilliant smart? It is based around the tuya platform.
are my automations still going when duckdns is down? And is there anyway to connect locally when duckdns is down?
@weary stratus yes they are, and the same local ip address:8123 you would normally use but with https://
it doesn't work π¦
do you see a warning?
no, nothing
then it's the wrong address or youre using http and not https
i have port 443>8123. So i entered https://myip:443
unless you change it
thanks
Ive installed the ngnix add on installed i can get a https connection locally but not from the internet any ideas, ive opened up port 443
do i need to configure to allow external networks or should it work just out of the box
You forward ports?
so I'm trying to do some analysis of my sensor data
and I found https://data.home-assistant.io/ which leads me to install JupyterLab Lite add on, but the installation fails and then on the page for that I see maintained: no
so I'm confused is this data science portal a supported hass.io thing or no?
I guess this answers it, the last blog post was dec 2018 https://data.home-assistant.io/blog/
well it installed this time...
I'm going to give it a go and see how far I can get
I wonder if anyone has ideas on the Letsencrypt add-on. I migrated from duckdns to letsencrypt/dns/cloudflare, and the logs shows the certificates were updated successfully. I updated the http entry in my confirg file from base_url: https://noidsan.duckdns.org:8123 (not actual address!) to base_url: https://noidsan.mydomain.com and restarted. I'm not able to connect via https://noidsan.mydomain.com nor locally https://192.168.1.100:8123. I can still get in to my config file via Samba share. Any ideas would be appreciated. After today's duckdns outage, I'm looking to move over to cloudflare. Thanks!
Does MotionEye take a lot of CPU power? I am consider installing it on my PI 3b+ but I dont want to bog down the CPU.
@rugged sinew How much cams?
can I make an html/php page on a somethink port ?
heh?
Is this the channel for asking about ESPHome related stuff?
probably?
OK, so I am trying to replicate a Bruh DIY type multisensor with ESPHome. I got the PIR sensor and light sensor (TEMT6000) working, but getting a communication failure with BME280. I read a long discussion on this in the forums, but was wondering if anyone here has any input on what it could be.
Hi folks. Iβve been running AdGuard Home without issue for a month or so now. Today, however, I canβt seem to get out anywhere (or, at least, most) places when connected though Adguard Home.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Any ideas about what could cause it to just stop working suddenly?
hello everyone...I am trying to add a second model to my Doods integration but can't seem to get it right. Anybody have any experience doing this?
#integrations-archived @peak onyx
@rugged sinew in my experience camera stuff on the rpi 3b kills the pi.
3 cameras and I had 70-80% cpu non stop
@faint terrace do you port forward 443 to 8123?
but Doods is an add-on, no?
Thanks @atomic stone. i have messaged you.
You said integration though :P
haha this is truew
@faint terrace do you port forward 443 to 8123?
@lethal root I thought with the dns challenge method that port forwarding was unnecessary? And it doesnβt explain why I can get in with my localip:8123.
Iβll try turning off ssl via samba and rebooting.
Yes port fwd is unnecessary... For let's encrypt
Someone still needs to tell outsiders where to find your ha instance
@faint terrace does your HA instance have it's own external IP?
Because right now what's happening is SOmeone asks "The $IP" for yoururl.com, they get the $IP for your router, and your router goes "That's right, this is $IP!"
Unless you tell your router "When someone asks for $IP at port xyz, what they really want is my HA instance" (a.k.a. port forwarding) nothing will happen
@stiff palm let's chat here
Hi @atomic stone
Thanks for agreeing to help on the BME280 issue. I am getting a "communication failed with BME280" message
I read through the forums, tried everything mentioned there, tested connections etc, but no success. Any idea how to debug this? I am running HassIO
I also have a supervised docker installation on a Ubuntu VM on my primary machine. If needed, I can use that as well.
@lethal root I wonder if what I really want to do is a reverse proxy on a subdomain, something like Traefik where I can point to https://homeassistant.mydomain.com and have it resolve to the proper location within my router/internal network. I have that setup running on a PlexGuide install - but because of that I don't think I can do it twice, with a different domain to the same router IP address.
You can have as many domains as you like pointing to one router
If your router can route them :P
This is why I have the nginx proxy addon
All port 443 and 80 traffic is routed to the addon
The addon sees what server toy are trying to reach and forwards accordingly

have you port forward your router
yes, 8123 and 443
does connect when on the same network? have you installed ngix
you have to install ngix now i couldnt get it to work without
how?

@boreal vale you shouldn't have to use nginx, but you might prefer it

forwarding 443 to 8123 or 8123 to 8123, and the proper http: configuration is all you should need
ports are forwarded to their internal port, somehow i can't set 443 to 8123. I try to access over port 8123 though
Anyone have a few minutes to help me out?
I'm hoping to find some help. I'm relatively new to HA. I've gotten a lot working, but MQTT is kicking my butt. I've read loads of tutorials and watched a bunch of videos. I can't seem to have entities show up. I've tried auto discovery & legacy. Logs and console both show devices connected, but no entities appear in integrations. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Is this the right place to ask?

@little pine have you set your devices to be auto discoverable to HA?
yes
I currently have 2 switches I'm trying to add. Since autodiscovery didn't work, I tried one as legacy. It seems that i've managed to get that one working.
I'd prefer auto discovery if it works though.
I think I spoke too soon. I see the entity in my list of switches, but it doesn't appear to be actually connected to the physical switch.
nevermind. I've got the legacy one working now. I'll just use that approach. Thanks anyway.
has anyone had any luck with installing homekit from apple
I;m having troubles installing some of the hass.io addons. Not all of them but some. i get a fail message saying: Failed to install addon, Unknown Error, see logs.
looking in the supervisor log i resd this:
20-05-19 06:07:08 INFO (SyncWorker_3) [supervisor.docker.interface] Pull image hassioaddons/influxdb-amd64 tag 3.6.2.

this is happening to some of the addons but not all.
Anyone knows a solution?
had this kind of error whith Z2m assistant as well. Eventually it installed but only after several days and many attempts.
Hey. Not sure this would be the right sub-group, but I receive the following error Login attempt or request with invalid authentication from 127.0.0.1 for a couple of days now. How do I find out what this is?
Hi everyone, I would like to make an automation with trigger is when an addon start or stop? How can I do it? The reason is my internet network is unstable, everytime it's down, the duckdns addon stops but it don't auto restart when internet backs. Thanks!
you could create a presence detection to a public IP with ping integration.then create an automation which starts dns addon as soon as the public IP is available again
service: hassio.addon_start -> addon: core_duckdns
Hi guys, I'm trying to work out the influxdb addon. If I wanted to tag each sensor output by it's device what do I set in the "tag_attributes" section in the configuration.yml?
Morning. Im having a problem setting the NGINX addon π¦
Is this the right place to ask?
OK.. its solved. It was giving me bad gateway.. put the default 443 port and ha on its 8123 and it's working fine. I wanted to use different ports and things broke.. but now it;s OK.
whats considered best way to use letsencrypt for supervisor/vm installs? The letsencrypt addon?
the nginx proxy manager is a little more convenient, and will also get cert from LE
the addon
okay will check it out
Would I talk about HACS here?
HACS is a custom integration. Not an addon
Rgr, ty and sorry
so #integrations-archived or the HACS discord
oh they have their own
@sly kindle No one better than you friend!

Around 5K.....
quite a few of us online then
my first time on the discord
I am just getting started on HA
and I dont know if I chose the right channel to ask for help but ill try here first
I did a fresh install of hassio on a raspberry pi 3B
and when im trying to setup samba and access it on windows 10
it throws me an error for ipv6
i had setup the password and interface for wlan0 as im using wifi, default workgroup
but i just cant make it work
has anyone been through this before?
im going to get the log, just 1 sec
@deep gate posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/bhC8HGQBPn/
those are the last 25 or so lines of the log, i will do a ubuntu pastebin with the full log
the full log @sly kindle
did you change the addon config?
just set a username and password for the config
as it wont run on the default config
and when i put them in quotes, after i save it, the config removes the quotes on its own
do you have - fe80::/10 in your allow_hosts? I just realized I don't
but I thought it was there...
yes, its there on the config
it's in the docs
i can remove it and run it, see if it works
as its a fresh install im not afraid of breaking it and starting over
you have your network using ipv6 everywhere?
that's a list of allowed ips...removing it won't do anything to help I think
Connection denied from ipv6:2804:14d:783a:9a22:a472:4121:f7c6:350c:3393 to ipv6:2804:14d:783a:9a22:7acc:f6f1:df47:86a6:445```
is 192.168.0.29 your HA instance?
yeah not sure why it's using ipv6
ive read somewhere about an updated windows version pushing ipv6 host solving
Thanks for the hint @Illes_Eszterhas !
I did not notice that Windows 10 started to resolve the hostname of my ubuntu server to its ipv6 address after the update to 1809.
I had the allow host setting set to the ipv4 range and was therefore denied access since the windows update. The Samba log showed this as well.
Solution? Disable ipv6 in ubuntu or remove the allow host samba setting. Disabling ipv6 in windows 10 does not seem to be a good idea. Apparently, at least edge and store apps demand it.
an user said that on windows version 1809 its pushing agressively for host resolving using ipv6
but im lost on where to go with that info
it says remove the allow host setting...but not sure what they mean
yeah I am stumped on this one
how are you trying to connect?
are you entering the ip address in file explorer address bar?
windows network tab
no
don't bother with the networks panel
open file explorer and type this in the address bar \\192.168.0.29
or..whatever your ip was
(with the backslashes)
thank, entering it through IP Address worked
and then just pin that to your favorites or map it
now we know if somebody is getting that ipv6 denied, its most likely somebody trying the network tab
well, you can pin the individual directories like config
yeah the ipv6 business confused me or I would have given you that advice straight away
now i know
yeah, that one also got me stumped because everyone that i saw setting up was doing the same as I was
thanks for the help again cogneato
Hey guys, I hope this is the right channel to ask but is the DuckDNS Addon supposed to update my IPv4 and IPv6 record? Currently the script doesn't update my ip address records and I have to do it manually or with a script in my router. It's not the best solution since my home assistant box and my router of course don't have the same IPv6 address.
That's exactly what the duckdns addon is supposed to do
So if it's not, there's obviously something wrong @sick minnow
Well, it generated the certificates which is great but I don't know why it doesn't update my ip address records.. There's no error in the log. Where else can I look?
Can anyone help with a husbzb-1 nortek on hassio running atop Virtualbox? USB device doesn't show up under hassio but does under VB?
Evening All,
Has anyone had an issue where the homeassistant/home-assistant docker image doesn't show the custom repository option?
Looks like the issue is that i only have ha-core, no supervised. Is there a formal docker image with supervised? I can't find anything and the only forum I found led to a document missing the information it says to look at.
@haughty temple a supervised installation begins with having the supervisor, not with having HA
And installing on generic linux is currently something where the docs have been archived
I keep getting Disconnected: Did not receive auth message within 10 seconds when I use the NodeRed Addon in my logs. Base install nothing setup apart from password
Very annoying as its cluttering logs with entry every few minutes
@sly kindle so basically the recommended install on the home-assistant.io/docs/installation/ page where it says docker for anybody already using docker under recommended installs really means, docker if you don't want to use any form of a custom repository? I want to integrate an LG AC unit using the ThinQ system.
"docker if you don't want to run a supervised install", yes. You are running only the "core" of Home Assistant and you would add other containers (available out there) to extend/add other software and services. In a supervised install these other containers are "addons" and are more integrated with HA.
i think i'm gonna migrate my install to the full HA to get the full integration of HA.
trying to figure out what i was missing here showed me a ton of things i could use but it all started with an AC unit lol
I don't know that there is an LG thinq integration though.
there isn't a formal one
there is a highly positively reviewed custom repo though that does it
which i can't add in core
is it this? https://github.com/ollo69/ha-smartthinq-sensors
no but i'll look at that one
the sampsyo one had a last commit of 9 days ago so he seems to still be supporting it
is a custom integration better or worse to use then an add-on?
integrations are things that built in to HA. You add a configuration for them and then they are activated, basically. Current count is 1582 integrations https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations
Addons are docker containers that follow a template for HA, and those add anything from your basic tyipcal software package like samba, to more complex server/services like...plex media server or wireguard VPN tunnel, Visual Studio Code editor, etc
So what you are looking at is a custom integration. An integration that isn't officially part of HA, but sort of "side loaded"
Not better or worse.
I use a custom integration for my sprinkler system...
But you don't need the supervisor and addon support to add what you are looking to add
@raven flint you might try a ha core rebuild ?
if this is a token issue
I will try it
@sick minnow did you get any further?
@lethal root I looked through the logs of the containers but didn't find anything useful.. It behaves like it wouldn't have a function to update my records. For now it works with my router updating only my IPv4 but who knows how long it'll take until my providers shuts down IPv4
Are you sure your token/ login is good?
Every 5 minutes the container prints this into the log:
[09:36:37] INFO:
Every 5min exactly.. But no info is given
I'm using the same token that I'm using in my router
Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the addon
Good idea, give me a few minutes to do that
Still the same after reinstalling, empty INFO blocks in the log..
The certificate generation, etc. worked fine though, it just doesn't seem to update my records
The LE part is kind of separate, so that's not weird it works
What's your config? Without the token
lets_encrypt:
accept_terms: true
certfile: certificate.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
token: xyz
domains:
- '*.xyz.duckdns.org > xyz.duckdns.org'
aliases: []
seconds: 300
@lethal root That means that it includes all subdomains in the certificate, because I have my home assistant at home.xyz.duckdns.org
I found it here: https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/issues/336
@sick minnow it can not update the records when you do it like that, if you want to generate certificate that way, use the duckdns integration to update the records
Hello all! I'm using the "Unifi" add-on for device tracking. Is there some way of "cleaning" the tracked device/device tracker list?
For instance, removing duplicates or changing names which are no longer active.
@lethal root Well, I have home, plex, nas, and other subdomains currently and my hassio works as a reverse proxy for those
@dark yoke Is there any way to get subdomains working and update my records?
Get ssl through the advanced nginx proxy, and use duckdns only for ip?
Yes, the nginx proxy "attaches" ssl to everything and redirects it to my local server (plex for example)
no
Not that nginx proxy
The duckdns addon generates the certificate that my reverse proxy uses. It works fine so far, I'm just not sure if this is the best way to handle it
My nginx proxy manager generates the certs itself
Are they self signed ones?
No, they are through let's encrypt
How did you manage to do that? You use DuckDNS too, right?
Nope, I use namecheap
There are two nginx proxy addons
The second is a bit more advanced from what I can tell
I'm guessing you use the first and I the second
I use "NGINX Home Assistant SSL proxy"
lets_encrypt:
accept_terms: true
certfile: certificate.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
token: xyz
domains:
- xyz.duckdns.org
aliases:
- domain: '*.xyz.duckdns.org'
alias: xyz.duckdns.org
seconds: 300
This seems to work without errors.. Do you see any issue in this?
The first requires you to get your certs with another addon
The second does it on its own
I don't have experience with alias in the ddns
Give it a go? What's the worst that could happen :P
Well, it seems to work fine, it updates my records and I can still access it without a certificate error.. But the certificate could be cached
You can see the issue date, no?
In Firefox you can look at a cert closely
It has a not before: part with date and hour
I can only find the date in the file system, ls -l shows it's created today but in Chrome I cannot find the exact date
Ls -L should have an hour as well?
10:42
That seems to be correct, just some minutes ago
I installed firefox and it says Not Before 4/10/2020, 8:51:33 PM (Central European Summer Time)
Seems like it is cached
@lethal root It wasn't as easy as hoped.. After restarting the SSL proxy it told me that I don't have a valid certificate.. Too bad
I highly recommend the proxy manager
So use the duckdns for ip, and the proxy manager for per-(sub) domain certs and ssl
Does anybody knows which folder is /share for hassio on raspberry ? I am trying to create the /share/nginx_proxy/*.conf file but not sure where to save the file.
hi guys, since 110 i found that i'm not able to edit my esphomes through the addon, seems the edit button doens't function anymore... known issue??
No problems with esphome here.
English please?
help setup bticino my home?
Hello everyone
What have you already done so far? Where are you stuck? What's the problem?
i started now i downloaded and installed the image on raspberry 3 b +
it's my first approach to the system
Are you able to connect to the web interface at http://ipaddress:8123?
So you see a supervisor tab bottom left?
67/5000
I'm still waiting for it to start
is the configuration complicated?
159/5000
Devices and services are represented in Home Assistant as integrations. You can set them now, or do it later from the configuration screen.
naw here
mow
now
but I can't find any bticino or openwebnet device ..
Mraedis
now I'm supervising
could someone help me with a clarification on duckdns? I've gotten the addon installed, duckdns setup and the token and domain in the config (Supervisor > Duck DNS > Configuration). I have also set accept_terms: true for use with LetsEncrypt.
It's my understanding DuckDNS addon takes care of the LetsEncrypt side yes?
Secondly, do I need to update configuration.yaml still? The DuckDNS Documentation doesn't say to, but everything I find online is doing the config manually and not through the gui like I did. DuckDNS is working for other ports I have open, but not for HA for some reason and I think it's due to something I haven't done that needs to be done.
DDNS takes care of the LE yes
And you need to edit your configuration to use SSL
That would be the part with the:
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem
ah ok, I wasn't sure if that was still needed or not
Also the base_url
and the base url doesn't need https:// or the port at the end correct?
Just follow the example in the comments (unless you removed it?)
http:
base_url: example.duckdns.org:8123
there wasn't an example in my configuration.yaml file
That old an install, huh?
weird.
Anyway
the port at the end is up to you
That's what the router forwards are for
right, which I can handle
thank you! It's updating to 0.110.0 right now. I'll test that after it's done
thank you!
np
yup, that did the trick
π
Hi all!
I am having some trouble with the NodeRED add-on lately.
I have a serial port device plugged into the Raspberry Pi (hosting Home Assistant). The serial port registers at /dev/ttyACM0. I would open this port in the NR addon and filter out my data and push it to HA entities. This worked for about a month, until 3 days back.
Now NR says :
"serial port /dev/ttyACM0 error: Error: Error: No such file or directory, cannot open /dev/ttyACM0"
I have tried restarting NR, HA, unpluigging and replugging the device, etc. to no avail.
I can cat /dev/ttyACM0 from SSH and see the data coming in
So the port exists and responds
I can see it registering on lsusb and dmesg as well. Any pointers what I can look into?
Posting this in the #node-red-archived channel
hi, trying to get the nginx proxy manager running. i have mariadb installed but for some reason this add-on wont start, shows nothing in the logs
Do you have anything running on ports 80,81, or 443?
can it not run concurrently with the NGINX HA SSL proxy?
No
The nginx proxy manager has its own proxy
So you would disable the other one
and just use the nginx proxy manager
Yeah, you'll want to change the port
got it
For something where you can't like emulated_hue, you want to just put 80 from the proxy manager somewhere else like 84 and then port forward 80 on your router to 84
That way http to https redirects still work for all external requests
yes, got it, very helpful thanks @granite osprey
now to figure out how to get these cameras work in HA
Enjoy!
its only internal, not exposed to the outside
Hey all, this might be noob question. I am trying to add the Lovelace animated weather card
duh, ok as I tried to copy and paste the error, I saw the UI updated . I copied and pasted weather.yourweatherentity
the UI, autocompleted as weather.home
I cannot believe no one has thought about having a version selection when installing an addon, so there must be a reason why this is not available. At the moment there is a problem with the zigbee2mqtt addon where the latest version has not been pushed to dockerhub, being able to select the previous version would be handy to install the previous version.
Anyone know of a Amazon Package tracking plugin
I keep getting
Disconnected: Did not receive auth message within 10 seconds
when I use the VSCode Addon in my logs. Base install nothing setup apart from password
Very annoying as its cluttering logs with entry every few minutes
In supervisor: 20-05-20 21:13:58 ERROR (MainThread) [supervisor.api.proxy] Client error on WebSocket API Cannot connect to host 172.30.32.1:8123 ssl:False [Connection refused].
You'll see those when you restart HA and node red is trying to connect to something that isn't there. Then they should stop when HA is back up
@raven flint
They are coming up every minute
well after boot
going to take a look at iptables and Ubuntu 20.20 docker support, this isn't happening under HassOS
you're on Ubuntu?
Ubuntu 20.20 Supervised
mmm
Debian is going to be a better choice for a supervised install, as it will be more neutral than ubuntu
That's more of a strong hint wink wink than it is a rumor
too late now have setup VLANs, Serial Devices, Ubuntu specific software
π
but I think I can fix this
You might check the community repo discord since it's a community add-on. Maybe the 10 sec message is familiar to someone there
Does HASS store logs persistently, as its generating so much output worried about disk space now
@sly kindle Would you recommend moving to HASS OS for better support?
For the best support, yes, since that's what the project is. But I understand the needs of a supervisor on Linux install and have run it that way in the past.
I will try and move eventually
Hello
Anyone have HACS? I have a giant "HACS" logo at the bottom of all my lovelace pages after the latest update
Latest update as in latest update to Home Assistant itself
And that was a weird issue
I nuked all of Chrome's history and reloaded everything
problem seems to be solved
@boreal stratus Iβm seeing it too, even on the iOS app. Did clearing chrome history fix it there too?
I didn't check iOS yet
Well, the iOS app is freezing with the latest update
And as soon as I said that
it updated
It's always a cache issue π
Anyone know how you're supposed to get "on/off" values from switches into grafana?
I can get numeric values like temperature and energy usage easily, but I can't seem to get it to pick up switch state
hi there, I'm a bit confused by the new Internal & external URL handling of 110. i used to have the DUCKdns and NGINX addon running to have my HA locally accessible via http and remotely via https, how is this affected by 110?
do i still need NGINX or is it enough to specify the duckDNS adress in the gui as external URL?
I am using monitor addon (https://github.com/Limych/addon-presence-monitor), which runs a bluetooth presence monitoring script. The addon relies on MQTT, I'm using "Mosquitto broker" for it.
When I restart Home Assistant, I don't receive any more updates. This github issue (https://github.com/andrewjfreyer/monitor/issues/297) says that I should trigger a restart of the monitor nodes via MQTT when HA restarts
How can I restart the nodes?
Does anyone know if the VSCode addon is running locally on the server or attaching to a "Cloud" version of VSCode?
@strong bridgeme ta @lethal root
And now I run slap bang into the Samba Addon not doing anything. I seem to have lost the ability to configure it. You used to do this using the Config section below the top part of the page, this no longer exists though. I'm assuming it is the config that is broken because samba refuses to start and I just cannot find where I need to go to put that right.
@modern hound set your gaze to the top center of the addon's page
they have been broken out into tabs...info, configuration, logs
π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£ What a dumb arse I am! I really could not see them for looking! Many thanks @sly kindle Hopefully can fix this now .
I'm not seeing the "add new repository" option in the add-on store. Anyone else having the same issue?
Apparently it's just moved to the top right on the page
Anyone with a Verizon router having issues setting up SSL with DuckDNS? I have DuckDNS and the lets encrypt cert, but when I visit my duckdns domain I get directed to my router login page
I have forwarded all appropriate ports I believe
@rain dragon what are you forwarding?
I got it figured out! thanks
sweet
Silly question. I am using Custom Header, and the instructions say "in the options menu of Lovelace" to start configuring it. I cannot find "options", where is this?
Hey all, I'm running the PiHole add-on in version 4. Everything works fine, but if PiHole is not running, traffic is not handled anymore by my router (as in the DNS is fully dependant on PiHole and doesn't realize it can simply use the router).
Can anyone think of a way to have the router DNS as a backup to automatically use if PiHole isn't running?
How do i automatically log in to Phoscon WebApp (the web ui of the deCONZ) plugin? Is there a setting I missed. I have to manually enter my password every time.
Hi folks, I hope I am posting in the right place (new user). I am trying to set up mosquito and in the config I keep getting the error "Failed to save addon configuration, [object Object]" any help would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone on that has any experience with ESPHome?
Hi i have the ngnix installed, i can authenticate and login but my data fails to load after that on the app on my cell connection or computer on the wan as well. Everything works fine on the LAN but not the wan any help is appreciated
I solved my issue. Apparently I had to turn on fast_connect in order for the NodeMCU to get and keep an IP from my Unifi APs.
@wooden stone you can always put two DNS servers in any device I know of
@drifting sentinel sounds like a port forward/DNS issue
Anyone ever experienced the VSCode addin disconnecting after a few moments? I open a file then after 10-15 seconds I get a "Cannot reconnect. Please reload the window.". After this nothing works until I refresh the windows and it does it again. Not a huge issue as I can just use VSCode locally against the Samba share. It would be good to fix though then everything can be done in one place π
tasmoadmin doesn't like my SSL cert either. Works for Home Assistant but does not seem to be liked by tasmoadmin. it says ""ssl_stapling" ignored, issuer certificate not found for certificate "/ssl/fullchain.pem". My CA does not have any option for stapling anything.
it is on my OpnSense Firewall. Create all my certificates there. Was just trying vsc 'cos it does syntax highlighting which is useful with YAML
@modern hound regarding VSC its a known issue w. no fix, I have the same issue: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-vscode/issues/96
Did anyone else lose the configuration options for custom_header in the latest update?
ta @steep zealot I will swap it out for "file editor" for now. Just thought with me being rusty at YAML it would be good to have something syntax check me π
@jovial acorn custom header is a custom integratation. not an addon
And yes, it needs an update as far as I understand
I apologize. So it's supposed to be in the integrations channel? I looked for custom integrations but it was archived.
custom integrations are unsupported integrations that cannot be found here https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations
And I'm a little wrong here because custom header is a UI lovelace thing, so #frontend-archived is an appropriate place for that
@jovial acorn
Right, thanks!
hi I am trying to add a new add on repositories, I paste the URL in the add link but it does not add it when I press add - I have been away from HA for a while as I was looking after my father as he ended his life so not sure if something has been added to control changes - any help would be great - thanks
You could start by telling us what happens when you click add. Are there any error messages (either on screen or in the logs)?
no error messages see a small circle then nothing
I am trying to install Tasmota back up
hi! how do I access the admin HTTP api within the nodeRed Addon? I want to read the number of nodes.
I imagine there is an admin menu config for the addon, no?
I don't know what you mean by that?
For the addon, what does the config section say about network
There are username, password, port, secrets, but that doesn't tell me how to access the API. meaning where do I point the HTTP request node? localhost doesn't work.
Maybe this is a question better suited for #node-red-archived
π when I asked that question there, I was directed here.
Hi, I'm looking to to factory reset Hue bulb using TouchLink for Zigbee2Mqtt, but log says 'Failed to reset'

does anyone know how to configure the mosquitto addon? I can't find the documentation
this is it as far as I can tell: https://github.com/home-assistant/hassio-addons/blob/master/mosquitto/README.md
OH! there's a new documentation tab... got it
hmm... this mosquitto broker doesn't seem to work as well as the other one

there don't seem ot be any options to set to change anything.. how is it different the the one Frenck released? Or do I need to back back to that one even though it's deprecated?
Yep.. I go back to . Frenck's addon and it works.. The official one doesn't
well not for me.. and I can't see what I can change?
do you use anonymous?
yes.. and that's set to true.. I also have a user, and I've added them
ssl: false
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
broker: true
allow_anonymous: true
mqttusers:
- username: user
password: pass
readonly: true
topics:
- '#'
that was for the depreceated addon
nothing complicated
and here's what I tried for the official one
logins:
- username: user
password: pass
anonymous: true
customize:
active: false
folder: mosquitto
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
require_certificate: false
unless I have to remove and re-add the integration?
I use the default. So no anon. And no legacy logins. The users in HA itself can be used as credentials by your mqtt devices
So I just install the addon, hit start, then go to integrations page, add the mqtt which should be appearing at the top of the page, and then done
hey Guy's I played around with previous versions of Home-Assistant and as everyone I love it.
But somehow in the latest version that I installed as a docker container I'm not able to find the "addons" section in the web gui or even where to put an addon folder in the container. Where did you hide it ? π

hi all
it is about let'sencrypt, sslforfree is no longer free for wildcard cert
i am trying to use the official addon LetsEncrypt but having an issue
i will be using Google DNS Challenge as i do have a google domain account
i got this error Encountered 403 Forbidden with reason "accessNotConfigured"
and it asks me to enable "Cloud DNS API" which is a paid service
is this suppose to be?
When did this all happen?
u mean sslforfree?
Yes
just few days back
u could try to use https://www.sslforfree.com/ to generate a wildcard cert
i will force u to register an account and it is a paid service.
@weary stratus you didn't install supervised, you installed #672217570283094017 with docker
Only supervised has addons
any idea about Cloud DNS API?
to use Lets Encrypt addon with Google Domain, i must subscribe this paid service?
Seems to me like you need to either move to a different domain provider or pay for the cloud dns
$0.40 per million queries per month.
So $4.80/year?
Because I doubt you'll get a million queries
ya.... for managed zone it is $ 0. 20 price/month
