I have installed HA on Pi4 4GB and the beta 64bit version, everything is up and working fine. I have created a ping device tracker and able to track the device.
In the overview section it is showing two entities one is for Person and Other via Device Tracker. Is there any way i can remove/hide any one of them

Hi everyone. I just noticed something. When I go to the Developer Tools/States page..is blank. When I refresh/reload everything shows up normal. It just works for a while....... and then blank again. Any Idea?.. is a theme issue? Chrome maybe.. have you seen something like that..or is just me.

I've been digging through the lovelace documentation and struggling to put together the necessary pieces. I'm led to a question - is lovelace not enabled by default in 0.74? I'm on a fresh install and all I can see is it's mode is "auto-gen" and I can't edit anything in the interface? Am I missing something?
That should have been 0.97 btw.

Anyone know if it's possible to conditionally show a component over the top of another component? I've built a similar vertical stack/picture glance Harmony control to this: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/harmony-activities-volume-slider-and-lovelace/72419 , but have added a Spotify button (as my receiver supports Spotify Connect). Was kinda hoping to throw up the mini-media-player component in place of the picture glance background when Spotify was toggled.

In a wider context, configuration.yaml is never changed by Home Assistant. The automation editor will update automations.yaml, the script editor scripts.yaml and the Customize menu customize.yaml. Everything else in the UI works in .storage/

You can use templates in customize, so you can set icon: rgb_color dynamically.
Just have a quick google for 'home assistant template sensor icon color' and you'll get lots of examples.

Hi guys and girls. I have setup an ESP32 to control my gas central heating using the climate component and it is working well. Maintains temperature no problem. The problem I am having is that I need to be able to automatically turn the hvac_mode to heat to enable start the unit. Any ideas? @fading sorrel ?

Has anyone noticed a bug with the Entities card? In the config for some entities when you click the X to remove it it instead triggers the dropdown. Only way to remove it is to erase the text

hey team , seems to be an issue/quirk with lovelace yaml when you break out the views into separate yaml files.
i'm assuming there is some kind of watcher on ui_lovelace.yaml. if i update one of the 'broken out yaml files' the UI doesnt refresh.
i have to change something in the actual ui_lovelace.yaml then refresh for the change to be realized

Hi sorry for the silly question but I cant figure out where to put the pictures I want to use in the cards. Putting the file in the same dir as all the yamls and using image: /EG.png does not work, I found the hint to put it in www dir and use image: /local/EG.png but that does not give me any success.

Put them in www and use the full file path. E.g. /config/www/EG.png 'local' is for URLs not file paths.
Also you have to restart HA after creating the www directory.

Theres nothing premade for that to i know of. @nocturne dust are you able to control your locks? If so I would recommend button-card as you can put a lock on it so you don’t accidentally put unlock you door.

moreover, is yaml mode the way to go these days? is it approaching deprecation perhaps? the default view seems to use lovelace and it gives me a nice plug-and-play experience for new devices that i'm adding... i do like that. i would also like to dabble in creating more advanced views as needed.

yaml mode vs storage mode is personal preference. The only features in yaml mode that are not supported by storage mode are !include and !secret. ui-lovelace.yaml is the same as using the Raw Config Editor while in storage mode

It seems like if you change the !include file and even refresh the browser it does not re-read the file. only if you remove the !include and refresh and then put it back does it re-read the file.

If you are going to change the image manually, I would just use a different image name. All of my images I have that change are named different and I use automations to change them using input_selects @strong falcon

I select an album of the week and the album art is the image of the picture glance card. The tap action plays the album (via a playlist) on a sonos speaker. I just manually change the picture and edit the playlist each week

There are a multitude of ways to do that. You can create a temporary entity using the HA api, you can push the value to an mqtt topic and make an mqtt sensor in HA, you can use an input number

Hello guys, a little question: I would like to have inside an entities card that runs an automation via a boolean input an entity which would report some text such as "The alarm is set and it will activate at XX" where XX is a variable (so it has to be and entity so that I can change its state). Any suggestions on how to do that?

Either you could do it as a template sensor, or you could include a markdown card in the entities card and use its brand new (in the beta) jinja2 template capability to display the text you want.
Speaking of which, markdown-mod will be deprecated on the release of 0.98, because the markdown card now does all those things (and more) natively.

here is my question I am configuring a picture element card with my 3d floorplan, I have created several images representing different lights on, I have one image with all lights on, I am trying to configure it so when I select different switches the representative floorplan changes to show the one that the lights are on, I have successfully got it to work with one light on against the all lights off image but when I add a 2nd image of a different room, it covers the first image, dispite creating a section only image I am following Aaron Godfrey's instructions/post
