a panel only loads the first card in a view

blazing nacelle
#

But do i have to add that to each card ?

civic sedge
#

not every card - but every fiew

blazing nacelle
#

ow

civic sedge
#

you stil can set main_config: true
But when you navigate directly to an page its not getting loaded

blazing nacelle
#

oke now im not following ytou

#

sorry

#

๐Ÿ˜›

#

So for only the views i have to hadd panel: true

civic sedge
blazing nacelle
#

?

#

I have to put main_config: true in the raw editor ?

#

Or in a yaml file?

civic sedge
#

you dont use the yaml file at all in storage mode

#

enable lovelace configuration and press on the (+) in the lower right corner

#

then you can paste something like this type: custom:compact-custom-header header: true main_config: true menu: overflow chevrons: true options: clock clock_format: 24

blazing nacelle
#

Yeah

civic sedge
blazing nacelle
#

Ow lol

#

that worked yeah

#

Oke cool

#

And to go back to the default view (because now the iframe panels are gone) i have to remove it again>?

blazing nacelle
#

Yeah but i thought i had to add all the code manually in the cards

civic sedge

I like the clock ๐Ÿ˜›

is it possible to change the font zsize of a title inzide a horizotat stack?

civic sedge

depends on the card I guess

blazing nacelle
#

Because the name is now not displayed corrrectly (to long)

civic sedge
#

you could overrite the name

blazing nacelle
#

Yeah i know

#

But i guess its not possible

civic sedge

Set a custom name which is displayed beside the icon.

mild veldt

@polar kelp I think you'll want to bump up the card size for the more-info-card quite a bit

Yeah...

Not really sure how to handle that. They can change size quite a bit too...

If you copy/paste a raw config file into a lovelace.yaml file will it convert correctly?

elder pendant
#

Convert it to what?

#

By raw config do you mean the UI raw editor?

#

Yes that's what I mean if I copied and pasted from there

Into a ui-lovelace.yaml file and switched to yaml mode

#

The raw config is yaml

There is no conversion

#

How do you implement a custom card?

I followed this

That's custom UI, not a LL custom card

I don't use custom UI

Just a FYI, custom UI is not officially supported by HA

pallid needle
#

@mild veldt I'm working on setting up your cards

#

it didn't work at all

#

it = the custom ui

#

@mild veldt your guide says to add it to the ui-lovelace.yml

#

I'm not using that anymore, I use the built in editor

mild veldt
#

Same difference

pallid needle

will adding it to that file still load?

Yes

There's troubleshooting steps linked at the bottom

only for ptz I would imagine

#

Hi... I'd like to show some binary sensors (motion detectors) on a graph... the history graph does a good job of representing the data... it's just limited, as far as I can see, with regard to colouring... seem to be stuck with the eye busting red/green...

#

I've poked around in web console and it seems its a canvas and I cant manipulate any CSS. I figured I'd have a better chance of styling up the mini-graph but it's designed to handle sensors, not binary sensors and spits NaNs at me.

limpid remnant
#

@elder pendant Thanks, looking forward to templating everywhere. I noticed a "what would you like to see in 2019" admin post recently. Ubiquitous templating is high on my list.

analog aurora
#

It's been a long while since I hacked any JS so I thought I might get my hands dirty again by forking it and having a play... kalkih has nicely minimised the js... I think if I just concat the js source files and debug my way through the code, I'll learn a bit about a few things...

limpid remnant
#

@analog aurora have you looked for custom cards? I can't say I've tripped across one that does what you want, though. You can embed grafana from influxdb, apparently. I've got them both running via hassio addins, but not yet embedde.

analog aurora
#

Hi Jumper... I am running Grafana and InfluxDB and considered embedding, but I got the impression from forum posts etc it was not the norm... yeah, I've been through the custom cards repository... a lot of great contributions but nothing quite up this alley, afaics, except mini-graph, which looks great and I thought might be adaptable... i figure the states are probably turning up as on/off where real numbers are expected and if I could intercept and convert them to 0/1... maybe... I don't know, the history graph does do a nice, concise job of staking up the boolean traces... it just the colours... a few people have asked how to change the colours before in the hass community forums but they've gone unanswered... and probably because of the canvas thing... it's probably relatively hard coded...

pallid needle

@mild veldt can you link me to the mini media player you mentioned?

i am trying to setup card-modder, but its not showing correctly. please can someone advise what am i doing wrong here

polar kelp
#

Yeah. You're posting a picture of code rather than code, that's wrong.

#

Also, if the style variable begins with -- you need to put it in quotes "--paper-card-background-color"

#

Besides that, card-modder is a card, and should go with your other cards, not as a part of the view definition.

#

And --ha-card-background is a better choice than --paper-card-background-color, which is deprecated.

ohh ok

Iโ€™m not sure what to call it, so google is failing me, but has anyone seen a way to customize an icon based off a sensor value? Iโ€™d like something like the notification indicators in android, where the icon would be subscripted with a number, so for example if the UPS sensor was working, I might have a subscripted 3 to indicate the number of packages that were in the system.

I am trying to install a custom slider in lovelace

#

but the documentation doesnt say anything about how to install it

#

i have looked at the documentation on other cards, and you have to add a resources line in the config editor:

#
resources:
  - url: /local/mini-graph-card-bundle.js?v=0.3.3
    type: module
    ```
#
as an example
#
but the part after the ? and the type varies
#
so hwo do i know what to use for this particular item?
polar kelp
split granite
#
Needs more words in there explaining the link, so I can pin it for reference ๐Ÿ˜‰
#
That URL is already pinned, but with no context ๐Ÿคท
does anyone know if it's possible to add a new line in value_template? for example I'm using the following, {% set waste_response = waste_list[7] + '\n\n' + waste_list[10] + '\r\n' + waste_list[12] + '\n\r' + waste_list[15] + '\r\r' + waste_list[18] + '\n' + waste_list[20] %}, none of these add a new line in the gui output on the card
@polar kelp But that only says the same? That it can be different types? How do i know which it is? I can't seem to see mention of it in the readme
polar kelp
@indigo tulip Newlines will need to be supported by whatever you're using to display the value. If it's a core lovelace thing, it won't be.
I hadn't actually checked the page, I'd assumed all yours did explain it
indigo tulip
#
@polar kelp I'm using the default entity or sensor cards
The slider is severely outdated. It still uses polymer. It's high on my list of things to rehash.
@indigo tulip Then I'm afraid you're SOL
#
If I use the ui to configure lovelace how can I backup the ui
#
Nevermind, I found it in .storage/lovelace
steady fractal
#
Does anyone know how I can convert my ui-lovelace.yaml to work with the new custom ui?
mortal cape
#
@steady fractal new custom ui?
#
I think I know what you're asking but I don't want to assume
steady fractal
#
idek, I was on 0.81 for a while and i updated and was getting errors so I switched to yaml by adding the lovelace: mode: yaml to my config but I've been trying to install custom cards and I saw on the forum that someone had said it was because they were using yaml mode so I wanted to try and switch
#
like when I delete that from my config it looks like the old states mode
mortal cape
#
That is yaml mode
#
What you had there
#
You can use custom cards in either yaml mode or ui editing mode
#
But I can't tell which it is you want
#
In yaml mode you edit a file and do not use the ui to edit
steady fractal
#
yeah
mortal cape
#
if you see /states at the end of your url, you are in the old states mode
steady fractal
#
so I had a lovelace ui in the yaml mode
mortal cape
#
yep. And custom cards work with that
steady fractal
#
with a bunch of views and stuff
#
and when I remove the lovelace: mode: yaml from my config I don't
mortal cape
#
because now you have nothing, unlinking your ui-lovelace file
steady fractal
#
is there a way to link my old ui file though?
#
or convert it?
mortal cape
#
yes
#
So, do you want the UI editing?
steady fractal
#
yes
#
I just don't wanna have to redo all my views and cards
mortal cape
#
ok. if you go to the info page do you see a link to go to lovelace mode?
steady fractal
#
no
mortal cape
#
do you see "go to the states UI"
steady fractal
#
yes
mortal cape
#
ok go back to the overview
steady fractal
#
should I have it in yaml mode or no?
mortal cape
#
no
steady fractal
#
ok gotta change that
mortal cape
#
I thought you did lol
steady fractal
#
i did then I changed it back so I could find my light switch ๐Ÿ˜‚
mortal cape
#
while you're doing that, and before you restart...
#
check .storage for a file called lovelace
steady fractal
#
yes its there
#
I have samba share and cant open it though
mortal cape
#
you can cut it and paste it somewhere else
#
I was going to have you delete it, but just in case
#
also make a copy of your ui-lovelace file for the same reason
steady fractal
#
ok just did
#
wait
#
I deleted it
mortal cape
#
the ui-lovelace.yaml
steady fractal
#
not my ui file but the lovelace in .storage
mortal cape
#
right these are two different things
steady fractal
#
yes
mortal cape
#
lose the one in .storage
steady fractal
#
ok good
mortal cape
#
keep the other that you've made
steady fractal
#
thought I wasn't supposed to delete that for a sec
#
๐Ÿ˜‚
mortal cape
#
sorry
steady fractal
#
no I misread
#
anyways I have copy of my ui-lovelace.yaml and deleted the other one
mortal cape
#
so now you've got no yaml mode, you've cleared the lovelace file in storage and can restart
steady fractal
#
yes
#
so restart now?
mortal cape
#
yep
steady fractal
#
k
#
thanks for the help btw really appreciate it
#
ok
#
restarted
mortal cape
#
ok now what do you see in the overview? states or lovelace?
steady fractal
#
the uel says "lovelace/default_view" but it looks like states
mortal cape
#
ok that's because it autogenerated a lovelace view based on your groups
#
so it would look very much like states
steady fractal
#
I can't send images but its all entities cards and everything is there
#
yeah
mortal cape
#
you are in the first mode, where entities are added automatically to lovelace, but you don't control it
#
go to the three dots in the upper right
steady fractal
#
ok
mortal cape
#
and you choose to take control
#
which is the second mode
steady fractal
#
done
mortal cape
#
ok now you have UI editing but you want your old setup back
steady fractal
#
yes
mortal cape
#
so go to the 3 dots again and configure ui
steady fractal
#
ok
mortal cape
#
then go to them again and choose raw config editor
steady fractal
#
in the ui configurator
#
ok
#
do I just copy paste my stuff there?
mortal cape
#
copy the contents of your ui-lovelace file into the raw config editor
#
replacing what is there, yes
#
and then save it
steady fractal
#
LMAO IT WAS THAT EASY?!?! how didn't I figure that out earlier
mortal cape
#
๐Ÿ˜›
#
now to add custom cards, you use the raw config editor
steady fractal
#
thank you so much honestly I'm such an idiot ๐Ÿ˜‚
mortal cape
#
you add resources using the raw config editor and that's it. I had just added @mild veldt 's new radial thing and now I'm going to get back to it
steady fractal
#
thanks for your help
#
wait why are the custom cards still not working? I was hoping this would do it, someone on the forums said it did it for them. I am confusion.
#
if all the cards are in the www folder i just use /local/<cardname.js> right?
mortal cape
#
if that's where you added the files
#
no subfolder?
#
what custom card are you attempting to use?
steady fractal
#
kiosk, card-tools, popup-card, and vertical-stack-in-card
  - url: /local/vertical-stack-in-card.js?v=0.1.2
    type: js```
mortal cape
#
how did you place popup-card.js in to www?
#
I'm just picking one
steady fractal
#
kiosk just lets me add ?kiosk to the end to get rid of the bar. card tools is required for popup card which replaces the more info screen with another card and vertical stack in card lets me make a vertical stack without having them have the lines between them
#
I tried both wget <link> and extracting from a zip file
#
neither worked
mortal cape
#
I like to download the whole zip myself
steady fractal
#
idk if its a compatibility issue or what
mortal cape
#
what is it they are showing when you try to use them?
steady fractal
#
should I delete the ?v= at the end
#
custom element does not exist
mortal cape
#
if anything you can change it to something like v=2
steady fractal
ok
what?
@brave basin here is the solid black off screen https://pastebin.com/pzYSJj7D you will have to adjust card height and border width to suit your viewing screen the sensor entity is so you can tap the screen to "wake" up tablet...
@spare meadow can you take a screenshot of your fully kiosk setup?
and what patch did you add
brave basin
@atomic glacier thank you!! Hadn't even thought of tapping the screen to wake it up so you can shut the camera off at night (or in case it fails). Very helpful to have that as a backup
@brave basin yep...trial and error. Didn't have it at first, but quickly thereafter ๐Ÿ˜œ
@astral vortex Have you tried adding more keyframes? You go from transform: none to transform: rotate(90deg) in a single step - that might make it hard to calculate the intermediate steps. Perhaps a keyframe at 1% with transform: rotate(0) could help?
@analog aurora I made it for picture-entity, but it's totally deprecated by now. The functionality is now built in to lovelace by default for almost every clickable item.
analog aurora
#
ok. thanks... I'm working my way through all this... just starting to get the hang of it really...
Small things I figure out impress myself at this stage ๐Ÿ˜‰
Especially the front end stuff which I ignored for a while, focussing on automations.
polar kelp
Good prioritization
analog aurora
#
One (minor but useful) GUI thing I sorted today was the sidebar icon colour when not selected... amazingly, the css tag is sidebar-icon-color.
#
~ sidebar-icon-color: 'rgba(255, 255, 255, .5)'
#
in all the dark themes I've downloaded so far, that colour is not set and the icons are barely readable when unselected. Adding the above line to the theme sorted it... could have gone gray and less transparent... or whatever...
polar kelp
errant plover
I'd go with function over form personally but agree it does look better.
I think I'll go with this, anyway. It's still an improvement over the default.
@spare meadow what is the name of the fkb patch in the play store?
@polar kelp is it possible to have popups open to full screen, similar to a panel view? Or possibly just add width in pixels instead if % like you did with height? and maybe with top starting at the actual top of screen instead of lower as it does now? Don't know if this is possible. I asked with explanation earlier, but you weren't on.
You could probably play around with styles, like top:, left: etc. It's all css
hello, I've a frontend issue not really 100% lovelace
#
basically in firefox the hass.io page does not render using the current theme color I setup but always in the default white and blue
#
if on same PC I switch to Chrome the exact same page renders correctly following the theme colors
polar kelp
#
The theme is a per browser setting. If its set to anything other than backend selected it will ignore your default.
vivid lark
thanks @polar kelp
but how can I fix this beahviour?
it only happens no this PC and with firefox
same PC with Chrome the Hass.io page is following the theme colors
polar kelp
@vivid lark set the theme to backend selected in firefox
vivid lark
yes and this is reverting all to standard white/blue
but I'd like to use a differente theme
polar kelp
#
How did you select which theme should be default?
vivid lark
#
in the user panel
polar kelp
#
That is, again, a per browser setting. It sets the theme in the current browser.
#
To set the default theme you can call the frontend.set_theme service.
vivid lark
#
this is clear, the fact is that if in Firefox I select now a different theme it works ok everywhere BUT on the Hassi.io page
polar kelp
#
Oh. Is it only one panel that doesnโ€™t work? Like the lovelace interface is working as expected?
@polar kelp @silver crescent you can select multiple lines in the UI editor with ctrl + click on each line you want to manipulate.
Is your version of HA lower than 0.77?
latent moss
#
Those docs look correct to me, but yeah, I think it should be re-written. It's giving too much emphasis on what the steps used to be in an 8+ month old version of HA rather than what they currently are... There's no info on how to access the "user profile menu" for example.
elder pendant
#
I agree with your last sentence, but it pretty clearly says "before 0.77"
azure quiver
Nevermind it is correct, I guess I just didn't know there was a profile page. I looked at the users and persons page and thought that was it.
But I'm good to go now, happy about this multifactor auth too
how many people are still using <0.77 though to where that old method deserves a mention, let alone in bold text? I think it's just causing confusion as like what happened here.
        entity_picture: '/local/printer/black.jpg'
        name: Black
        tap_action:
          action: navigate
          navigation_path: /lovelace/1
#
Also it seems that it doesn't apply the same css rounding or whatever that the rest of HA (like glance cards) uses for entity_picture. have started making custom icons and they show up square. i could make them rounded in photoshop tho but just thought i'd mention it's not really consistent with other stuff https://i.imgur.com/HimmeER.png
mild veldt
#
@latent moss those are badges
#
the rounded ones. that's a possibility, I guess. I'll play around
latent moss
#
i didn't mean the badges at the top of the screen, but scripts or any other entities which have entity_picture specified as part of customize.yaml or whatever. they all get rounded, at least for me.
this isn't the best pic to demonstrate since i spent a long time finding round versions and/or fixing them, but you can kinda see it here (in the "H" history channel logo the HD part is cut off cause icon gets rounded. and the amc icon is a rectangle but the right side got rounded etc) https://i.imgur.com/aM5sIgi.png so the glance card or HA is rounding them by default. Not a big deal tho just something i noticed.
mild veldt
latent moss
#
lol
mild veldt
#
those are state-badge, but I could just apply that style as well
#
that would probably be easier
#
but...I'm thinking I won't do that and just add the style option and then people can style how they prefer
latent moss
#
whatever works best. i was thinking since the main icon was rounded and all the sub-icons were also surrounding it in a circle pattern, maybe the icons should just be rounded too.
mild veldt
#
yeah, you're probably right. not going to get to it tonight. but should be able to get something out tomorrow
