@clear ferry I've actually currently got a split electric/oil system. Oil only comes on when it's colder than -12°c otherwise it's electric. Although due to not using electricity at "peak usage temperatures" I get a fairly substantial discount on normal electricity, but higher rates when it's below -12°c

@rotund sphinx depends what you want to control. You can also use homeassistant to control other zigbee hubs via their interface (like Hue/Ikea Traadfri) but then it's going out over the internet rather than locally controlled.

and it doesn't just turn your power lines into a network, they're just cables between powerline "modems" more or less. So any lamp you would think you can controll with powerline, would need a full powerline adapter built into it anyways. I'm not sure it's a great idea...

Maintainer wasn't lying when they said it was... a bit of a mess. Which often happens when you start out with a small idea and then just shoehorn in new stuff into it. Hopefully I can make it into something modular, deprecate all the features that go into the core library, and see if I can't make it into a maintainable thing

But the term COMES from the fact that, if you unplug a computer from a network, it can no longer communicate with said network. If there's no physical connection, aka only air, between two network nodes, they can't communicate. That was the case in ye olden days when people coined a lot of the networking terms. Then that term, in of itself got the definition "isolated computer and/or network"

But the heritage of how it came to be is still baked into the word itself, if you just look at the component parts, and ... that's pretty funny

lol whats up with forums and agressive mods? im on two forums ipcamtalk and plex, and both got mods from hell. I just posted in the plex forum wondering if plex tried to fix a long term codec issue that require a hardcoded workaround, and of course a mod steps in and saying if workaround is not for me then kinda f off, even if its a plex pass (paid) feature. Really @late gate , I know 8 people who have had cancer, three of them in family and all had help within a month, heck my family has had a lot of medical stuff done, it hardly ever takes more than a month to get stuff done, free hospital choice etc, just get the government to send you to the other side of the country 🤷‍♂️
