Im in a bit of a bind with that

#

The acoustics of the open floor plan around the living is terrible

dull chasm
#

well mine is not perfect but fixing to build in 5 years ..... audio is first on list in design

clear ferry
mild tapir
#

When I built, I shouldve considered audio more. I had some serious sound proofing done but my main focus was things like RF Shielding, Electrical, and Plumbing.

clear ferry
mild tapir
#

Balls to the walls on surge protection, RF Isolated rooms, and plumbing taps to water main and sewage in every room just for things like my aquarium.

#

oh yeah and fiber + cat 6e to every room too

@clear ferry i think you are american by heart and you just cant accept it

Just tried NodeRed for first time, man I like it. My TCP Relay Controller configuration worked first go with no issues. Even has PLC integrations for Siemens S7, this is my new fav thing.

#

not sure why I wasn't using it already

late gate
#

Node Red is fun, and good at automations, but I just dont feel comfortable with it. I like the thought of having devices and automations in the same system

clear ferry
#

Node red has nothing to offer me I can't do with HA really

#

Yet

rare condor
#

I agree. The problem is this distributed IO relay controller relies on direct TCP socket communication and currently HASS TCP Component does not have TCP mechanisms beyond requesting a value at set interval.

#

The device will post messages randomly thus I would need to write some code to handle this or use NodeRED

clear ferry
#

Sounds like a classic corner case

rare condor
#

Honestly I would be better making a PR and improving HASS's in built component but it can't support every context and this use case is out of scope of what the component is designed for i.e. simple polling of dumb TCP devices.

Pudding?? That looks like bread lol

clever mortar
#

Only in way that a cracker looks like bread

rain swift
#

yes, I dunno what they call it pudding

clever mortar
#

Black pudding

#

Pudding is a type of food that can be either a dessert or a savory (salty or spicy) dish that is part of the main meal
...
In the United Kingdom and some of the Commonwealth countries, the word pudding can be used to describe both sweet and savory dishes.

#

There's also the less well known white pudding

#

Haggis is also technically a pudding

scenic radish
#

Interesting. I've always thought of pudding as only the sweet dessert

rain swift
#

I'll try it

scenic radish
#

S'mores over all anyway

rain swift
#

if it's not scottish, it's crap!

Oh there's a leftover biscuit in there too

rain swift
#

git you an airfryer, freakin awesome

scenic radish

Ah yes, the new-ish marketing term for "convection oven"

#

I think my fiancee and I actually registered for a convection toaster oven

#

@mild tapir that's a ballin monitor

#

That costs more than my server, networking equipment, and display for my desktop

rain swift

call it anything ya want, it's pretty sweet. πŸ˜„

tidal bronze

@scenic radish new ovens and microwave comes with that

scenic radish

Yeah, the one I have is a cheap $25 one lol

#

Works well tho

#

You end up getting that one "free" line with T-Mobile?

tidal bronze
#

Totally spaced out on that. Must look into it next week. Thank you for reminding. πŸ‘

scenic radish

Heh, no prob

tidal bronze

Testing out these Ikea remotes. Pretty nifty.

scenic radish
#

Which ones

tidal bronze

5 button ones got a deal on eBay.

scenic radish
#

Ah nice

tidal bronze
#

$8 a piece

#

Was looking for a Ikea zigbee plug ended up getting these. 🀣

#

I need some sort of a zigbee powered device. πŸ˜€

scenic radish
#

Heh, I might have to look for some of those. I got two ecosmart Zigbee remote/bulb combo packs from the home depot for $5 each a few months ago

#

I only wanted the remotes. They're a little janky and because of how button presses are handled on one button, it really is only functionally a 3-button remote instead of 4

bitter pawn
#
#

all you guys know you need this product in your lives.

mild tapir
#

I feel like this is for like

#

babies

#

@scenic radish They aint cheap monitors but damn are they worth it

tidal bronze
#

@scenic radish that sounds like a nice deal.

#

@shy comet any way to call a channel on tivimate through HA ?

shy comet
#

umm you can send adb commands through a service call...might be able to just send the channel numbers while tivimate is running or launch it and then send the command

dull chasm
tidal bronze
#

@shy comet can surely open the app but don't know how to send CH

dull chasm
#

not sure i like that time graph comparision

tidal bronze
#

@shy comet what I am trying to do is get CH audio only to outdoor. πŸ˜€

dull chasm
#

open door ...turn up audio real loud .... success

tidal bronze
#

Was pretty easy for DirecTV boxes but seems like a challenge on IPTV

mild tapir
#

I love me some IPTV pukes in multicast and IGMP

shy comet
mild tapir
#

When I had U-Verse it was a PITA to get U-Verse TV (IPTV based) to work without their damn AIO Router/Modem/Wifi AP/Switch box shit

shy comet
#

yea those things were closely connectd lol

mild tapir
#

Whats shit about is that you dont actually need that AIO Box

#

All that thing is doing is 802.1X auth to the Fiber ONT

#

Funny enough, over VLAN 0

#

If you have AT&T Fiber, its still the same method

shy comet
#

yea i have att fiber, gotta use their modem but they at least have ip passthrough so i can use my ubiquiti stuff

mild tapir
#

Setting the firmware on the AIO back to 1.0.14 or something allowed for an exploit to enable root ssh. You can grab the 802.1X Auth certifications and run wpa_supplicant

#

Im using Ubi stuff right now. Ive bypassed the router

#

Its USG-3P to Fiber Terminal instead of IP Passthrough

scenic radish
#

Ok so someone here mentioned biscoff cookie butter...found some at the store today, it is incredible

mild tapir
#

@shy comet If you ever wanna do it yourself and bypass the damn thing, let me know. Current docs on how-to are such a mess.

#

IPv6 works too.

scenic radish
#

IPv6 is bae

mild tapir
#

IPv6 is the only option now

#

You cannot get an IPv4 AS anymore.

#

Many server hosts are IPv6 only now

scenic radish
#

I run dual stack for remote access to my stuff

mild tapir
#

In addition, they are stripping companies and entities of IPv4 slowly

#

In an effort to speed things up

scenic radish
#

IPv4 for WAN purposes can die in a fire

mild tapir
#

Bingo

#

With things like Prefix Delegation, its so damn easy to setup IPv6

#

Ill go so far as to say, its easier than IPv4

#

Cuz fuck NAT

#

Now if only ISP's would do it correctly 😠

scenic radish
#

I kinda cheat and funnel everything through NGINX which just proxy_pass to the LAN IP regardless if connecting over IPv6 or 4 heh

#

ipv4 for LAN to LAN comms is fine IMO

mild tapir
#

I do the same thing with Traefik (which is just proxy pass'd nginx with fancy shit for containers)

boreal pewter
#

Lol haven't experienced a big well known dedicated server hoster that is ipv6 only

#

Some countries don't even use ipv6 yet

mild tapir
#

Yeah its a mess

#

Adoption is speeding up rapidly however

#

If you have T-Mobile, you will find it prioritizes IPv6 and sometimes only allows IPv4 on Roaming and not normal downlink

boreal pewter
#

Depending on country tho

#

Depending on on contract too

#

Depending on additionally offers as well

scenic radish
#

I do find it funny that ISPs hand out /64 blocks like candy lol

mild tapir
#

T-Mobile is 99.82% Adoption of IPv6 and 100% Deployment across all their networks that can sustain it.

#

Then we have AT&T...

scenic radish
#

But we also have enough ipv6 addresses to last beyond when the earth is destroyed

boreal pewter
#

64 only? Got a 48

scenic radish
#

I have 3 /64

mild tapir
#

Well, its actually how IPv6 is designed. It was actually built to hand out /64's to consumers on the normal

scenic radish
#

Could get up to 16 since I can request a /60

#

/56 didn't work

boreal pewter
#

You handle your client network a 64, per network, thus your provider needs to give you more than a 64

scenic radish
#

Yeah

#

I have a /60 prefix

boreal pewter
#

Like my router gets a 64 itself but a 48 for dhcp

mild tapir
#

ISP prefix is /32, Customer Site prefix is /48, LAN Prefix is /64, the rest is interface ID which is the other half

scenic radish
#

They wouldn't let me request a /56 😠

#

Not that I need it lol

boreal pewter
#

I also implented ipv6 but stopped at all my docker services, like Adguard, since I would need to redo the docker network 😩

mild tapir
#

ISP:ISP:XXX(/48):(/52)(/56)(/60)(/64):YOUR:INTERFACE:ID:ADDR

#

Docker and IPv6 is a fucking nightmare

#

oh wait I forgot

#

/23 is Registry prefix

#

@scenic radish The ISP you have is prob using /56 as location assignments

#

Like assigned to the local router stack

clear ferry
#

@mild tapir if you love IPTV you'll love the Norwegian isp Telenors implementation, igmpv2 for video and igmpv3 for EPG and other stuff, or the other way around, I gave up getting it through my pfsense years ago 🀒

scenic radish
#

Oh that makes sense @mild tapir

#

I have Comcast

mild tapir
#

Yes they are

#

IGMP Proxy is all sorts of fun @clear ferry

#

Ive spent so much time on it I know more than I want to about it. If you need help and wanna try again, let me know

#

I have a pfSense box and OPN sense with IGMP dual version proxies setup

clear ferry
#

Never got it to work at all, so just stretched the wan in a seperate vlan around the house

mild tapir
#

So far I have it working on pfSense, OPNSense, USG-3G, USG-XG, UDM Pro, UDM, ASR Routers, Juniper Routers, and Arista

#

Ive been writing loads of documentation

boreal pewter
#

Oh there are Bose Audio sunglasses, why didn't you tell

mild tapir
#

Mainly for Ubiquiti shit since they cant get their heads out their fucking asses

#

lets make great hardware at a great price and use our customers as QC. Oh yeah, everything is forever beta, IPv6 was an afterthought, we dont know what IGMP is, and our software engineers are actually hardware engineers so dont expect them to do a good job

#

And we copyright GPL code and sue people over it then lose millions of dollars in counter-costs

#

to top it all off, we have no sense of release schedules since our leadership team is engineers and not management team grade employees. Also, if we dont wanna keep supporting it since we just keep jumping to the next best thing every year, we will EOL your shit only 2 years after purchase

#

grr

#

Im gonna say it:

If your hardware is great but your software is shit: your product is shit.

#

Yeah thats all I got for now unless you wanna talk about their SSH exploit they refuse to fix /endrant

scenic radish
#

πŸ‘€

mild tapir
#

I do find it cool I can run pihole without pihole on their gateways

#

thats kinda nice

scenic radish
#

SSH exploit?

mild tapir
#

Oh boy ive been fighting them for half a year on it

#

Im about to release it to the wild tbh

scenic radish
#

I have an ER-x, should I be concerned

mild tapir
#

So the first mistake was they rolled their own encryption for Cloud based access

#

No, Edge equipment is not affected

scenic radish
#

Ah, good to know

mild tapir
#

Its also worth noting, ive been keeping close eyes on the situation and so far no one has found it.

#

However, this was because they are practicing defacto security through obscurity

#

They are such a small marketshare holder no one has tried some serious attempts at breaking it

scenic radish
#

Ugh

mild tapir
#

So they ignore a ton of issues

#

Enterprises that know whats up refuse to use their stuff and as a result, there is no real large push to get some serious pentesting done

scenic radish
#

I'm pretty interested actually, mind sending me a DM with a summary?

mild tapir
#

Yeah, ill write it up and send you a DM
@mild tapir - Self Reminder, Write up SSH Exploit Dossier send to Tediore over DM.

scenic radish
#

Thanks, whenever you feel up to it of course

mild tapir
#

Its honestly pretty shitty what Ubiquiti has done over the past few years

#

Im expecting them to go bankrupt thanks to their latest legal fiasco thats eating them alive

#

Recently they tried to use COVID as a form of delay to discovery... well now they are just refusing to cooperate. The court is roasting them alive

tidal bronze
#

@scenic radish where did you find the butter ?

scenic radish
#

Jewel

mild tapir
tidal bronze
#

@scenic radish what's that ?

mild tapir
#

Greater TL;DR - Ubiquiti tried to use copyright against Cambium on GPL code and the code was requested in discovery to see if its GPL or not. They are refusing and delaying. They basically stole open source code and privatized it then used it against another company to maintain and gain marketshare. Now its biting them in the ass

scenic radish
#

Oh sorry lol, it's a grocery store. A little more expensive than average but sometimes I go there since it's smaller than the cheaper grocery store I usually go to @tidal bronze

#

@mild tapir lovely

tidal bronze
#

Copy. Going to find that today. Sounds too interesting πŸ˜†

mild tapir
#

Oh and if you havent heard, at one point..... they had millions of dollars stolen from them from a scammer

scenic radish
#

Wtf

mild tapir
#

Oh yeah its amazing

#

They are so god damn bad at this

#

They dont even use their own equipment internally

#

its all Juniper

#

I wonder fucking why

scenic radish
#

It's seriously unreal

tidal bronze
#

Gotta be πŸ‘

#

Unfair man.

scenic radish
#

It's not even a spread, this is just a straight-up dessert in itself

mild tapir
#

prob gonna try sticking Nutella in it to

#

and get fat

#

Overall, despite the appeal of pseudo software defined networking and the price of Ubiquiti equipment, I highly recommend avoiding them at all costs.

#

If you want an alternative for WiFi with and a controller, Zyxel and Grandstream (Yes the one that makes ip phones)

With an all-access pass and gmusicproxy, you can download all the music ( I mean anything availble ) from G Music

pretty damn good ....quad is gonna make me go broke with audio ...its all his fault

tidal bronze

It you run through DAC 120ms plus.

you could take a look over to deezloader -not the biggest of all libarys but flac not in gmusic_player context

dull chasm
#

thats 3080 to 1080?

mild tapir

Shit like Enhancers and Lipsync will add latency/lag

tidal bronze
#

But strange nothing at all on zone 2. @dull chasm

#

Same source

dull chasm
#

pure direct does it cancel any video processing too ?

tidal bronze
#

Turned off that too. Tested on the 2nd 3080 as well same shit

forest edge
#

what's money in the pocket compared to being able to hear the slightest fart from the third backup singer

mild tapir
#

Honestly HDMI is a POS spec for reasons like this when it comes to audio

dull chasm
#

something on zone 2 has to be more direct ....only thing that makes sense

tidal bronze
#

That's what I am leaning to. But party mode goes to nuts with Chromecast

dull chasm

@forest edge about 30k

forest edge

so a tractor lol

dull chasm

yep so my audio buying is on hold for now

your neighbors can still see you run out the back door with a weapon

next couple of years i want the 51 acres next door

tidal bronze

How many tractors is that ?

dull chasm
#

@forest edge but there are no neighbors here just cows

mild tapir
#

Actually wait, how are you testing Audio latency on HDMI?

dull chasm
#

@tidal bronze one big one

mild tapir
#

Is there special tools for this?

tidal bronze
#

@mild tapir using CC latency adjustment

forest edge
#

you really wanna hear mooooo all day?

dull chasm
#

better than neighbors bitching

forest edge
#

lol

mild tapir
#

Ah. I presume your endpoint doesnt have Auto Lipsync Sync communication

tidal bronze
#

Nothing to do with lipsync. Audio only application

rain swift
#

just because neighbors can see me, doesn't mean I care....

mild tapir
#

yup still gonna hate HDMI for audio I guess

rain swift
#

they be like, oh lawd he's at it again.

tidal bronze
#

@mild tapir I don't like HDMI at all for audio but it's getting pretty hard to find CC audio units. For serious audio I only use vinyl

rain swift
#

don't the high end systems user fiber optics yet lol.

mild tapir
#

My biggest issue has always been DSP. The DSP on all these damn receivers is a PITA and adds funky out of sync zoning and shit

forest edge
#

if my neighbor shot a weapon on a regular basis next to me, I would sell oil drill rights and place a pumper on the stretch of land closet to them

#

let them listen to that thing go all night as a payback

mild tapir
#

On top of it all, HDMI is just a poor spec for audio applications

rain swift
#

if my neighbors shot weapons on a regular basis I'd be at their house with a 12 pack...

#

and my own stuff.

tidal bronze
#

@mild tapir not on aventage. Party mode or main zone sync will take care of all sync issues on all zones.

mild tapir
#

Huh, I need to look into that then

#

Right now the only real HDMI based deployments I have is HDMI over IP to control all my TV's and such

tidal bronze
#

My issue is when AVR units are in sync keeping standalone CC units in sync with them because of this main zone HDMI delay. But if I am running only AVR units throughout the house no sync issues at all.

#

Just need to find a few more CC audio units on eBay and call it a day.

mild tapir
#

CC being Chromecast right?

tidal bronze
#

CC is Chromecast and CC AUDIO the discontinued analog audio only CC devices. I love them. No lag whatsoever

mild tapir
#

Yeah the one with the standard 3.5mm jack right?

Yep

Can you make your own CC audio out if a Pi Zero and a DAC hat
@hushed basalt yes, i have seen guides on that

Totally not worth it

So planned obsolescence but they tell you up front what they plan on doing and you still buy it anyways?

#

Shieet, Apple is going all in

scenic radish
#

Apple is also going back to ARM lol

rare condor
#

back?

#

ARM is the future

#

x86 has served its time

#

RISC all the way

mild tapir
#

They also demoed to us at AWS their new Cluster Server Platform they have been working on

forest edge
#

windows going to arm too

mild tapir
#

Its all ARM and its dense af.

#

Made for k8s

rare condor
#

whats with the ARM hate? seeing it all over the internet

mild tapir
#

Change is hard

#

In reality, the only issue is going to be legacy systems that will basically be stuck on older hardware and can no longer be lift and shifted over to new hardware to avoid re-dev costs

rare condor
#

I love ARM Assembly, I had to write video driver and frame buffer handler in ASM was straight forward

mild tapir
#

There is some legit issues with the instruction models that have been noted but they are all like super specific nuance cases

rare condor
#

But MACs aren't running A. enterprice legacy crap B. old software.

#

Apple always forced your hand

scenic radish
#

Ehh I guess I just prefer x86

mild tapir
#

Well as Sonoma said, Windows is moving a lot of their products to support ARM

rare condor
#

ok but why, like you prefer CISC?

mild tapir
#

Then we also have all the linux builds for ARM... so on so forth

scenic radish
#

Software compatibility mainly

rare condor
#

fair

mild tapir
#

In reality, its the future. Things will just have to catch up

scenic radish

Though I suppose that would change in time if ARM becomes more popular

mild tapir
#

Similar to the death of IPv4

scenic radish
#

Heh

rare condor
#

Ok but no techical reason

scenic radish

Nah

rare condor

just because its well supported which is damn reasonable reason

rare condor
#

Do you need linux?

#

How much IO?

#

Like some Linux SBC use as low as 160mA

mild tapir
#

Look at the industrial market for such things

#

they love them low power SBC's

rare condor
#

traffic monitoring so just a 10/100 NIC is all you need and a semi decent cpu?

mild tapir
#

Depends if its a Transparent Bridge or a literal middle man sniffer

rare condor
#

yeah need more context

mild tapir
#

Transparent only 1 nic else might need 2

rare condor
#

Beagle Bone black only has 1

#

so I assume 1

Orange Pi Zero Pulls under full synthetic loads + WIFI max 730mA @ 5v and only cost <$10AUD

You could setup these BGP Optimizers, Edge Cache, and Gateway systems to link between your internal sites to increase speeds and better use avail bandwidth

hushed basalt

Speaking of VOD and AWS

#

My god is prime video for webOS a piece of hot garbage

Prime Video is actually being used as a testing ground for PoC stacks for AWS.

But... Whos a better QA team than your customers

hushed basalt
#

Good thing no one watches it anyway :D

mild tapir
#

They eat the cost of giving you some stuff to watch since everyone has prime just to get use out of it for data

#

They use that to build newer VOD Platforms for AWS. That and analytical data ofc like your genre habits which get sold away but who cares about privacy right?

hushed basalt
#

Data brokers be like shhh, don't draw attention to us

#

The amount of people who go "If Facebook wants to know which tv shows I like who cares" if disappointing but not surprising

hushed basalt

One of my friends started as a SA in Melbourne late last year

#

I hope he doesn't get eaten

mild tapir
#

If I had to give him advice it would be keep your head down and opinions to yourself.

#

If you wanted to work with AWS and have fun, cloud consultants like Onica are much more rewarding

#

AWS is just a stepping stone on the resume

hushed basalt
#

Have you read Gene Kims Unicorn Project

#

I'm trying to get a junior position at the local "rockstar" consultant firm here

#

But covid has put that on the back burner haha

#

:'(

mild tapir
#

COVID has ruined lots of fun opportunities sadly

#

Its really dissapointing

hushed basalt
#

The big 4 accounting consultancies are firing a lot of their consultants

#

And I know a lot of them have huge lifestyle creep

#

Earning big salaries with big expenses

mild tapir
#

But yeah I had it in audiobook form.

#

It hit some really hard nails for me

#

Lifestyle creep is going to be checked for a lot of people by the end of this

#

Lots of life lessons are being dished out

hushed basalt
#

The one thing I note is the sensei talks about technical debt taking down even the biggest companies

mild tapir
#

Yes. Pieces of Google have fell to this. Apple is also eating this.

#

Microsoft most of all

hushed basalt
#

I worry a lot of companies undervalue how important their tribal knowledge and practices are in their workforce

#

And will shed a lot of people

mild tapir
#

Top it all off, you have AT&T finally eating shit over technical debt

hushed basalt
#

Then end up being run by armies of people who have no idea what they're doing

mild tapir
#

No documentation? Turns into legacy that never dies

#

Instead it kills you

#

Tech is moving so fast it's hard to keep up

scenic radish
#

The Amazon shopping app is terrible too, at least on android

mild tapir
#

Code monkies and floor keepers are not real talent.

hushed basalt
#

Did you write this lol

mild tapir
#

Hah. No but i can say it's too true.

#

And funny enough you are not first to ask.

#

I really feel the write up though. Amazon is killing their talented workforce and I fear with so many systems relying on it.. it may become a hindrance

#

@scenic radish iOS one is in house development. Android was outsourced to a Pakistan based team

hushed basalt
#

Are you familiar with wardley maps

mild tapir
#

Yeah. Seen them in business development meetings and training

#

Strategy building or some shit

hushed basalt
#

Steven Wardley is very in love with himself, so I take his stuff with a huge grain of salt

#

But some of it makes sense

forest edge
#

messing with this bayesian sensor.. head is about to explode lol

scenic radish
#

@mild tapir interesting...

hushed basalt
#

One takeaway is don't outsource your business differentiators

mild tapir
#

This is how it's supposed to be done...
This is what we do instead...

Management red flags 101

#

@forest edge probabilities is fun tho

#

What are you trying to predict with it?

forest edge
#

was just messing with it using my pir/motion/weather as the entity observations

hushed basalt
#

The amount of times I've seen companies try to do their industry equivalent of building their own power station instead of buying it from a utility...

#

Like my old shitty job. The management/owners would only spend about a third of a week actually working, which is fine do what you want. But the limited time they were there they didn't do any management, market research, reaching out to clients, stratergising, or any sort of guiding plan

#

But would just jump on whatever low level shiny thing that caught their eye at the moment, contract themselves out for jobs where they would spend 3 days prep for 1 days work and simultaneously bring down the market rate for the core business, and try to fix and insource everything themselves when it's just commodity shit

mild tapir
#

This is why I love watching the Ubiquiti dumpster fire. They actually tried doing all of the correct management things but just suck at it. Task failed successfully kinda shit.

hushed basalt
#

I haven't read much into ubiquiti

mild tapir
#

I have never seen a company fail the other way like they have

#

TL;DR Hardware Engineers are not C-Level material or good software engineers

#

Or lawyers

#

But they tried

hushed basalt
#

Lack of diversification?

mild tapir
#

Oh yeah and had 40 some odd million scammed from them

#

It's more lack of experience and competencies

#

And their company is like an L2 flat network

#

With no communication

#

So you get shit like Edge series and Unifi that don't really work together

#

Even though they tried...

#

They even rolled their own encryption

#

Like bruh...

hushed basalt
#

Urgh

mild tapir
#

Networking equipment and failure of the fundamentals?

#

Yikes

#

Oh yeah and they left debug mode on lots of shit exposing tons of stuff

#

Totally production ready amirite

hushed basalt
#

I just have a unifi AP

mild tapir
#

It's a spawn of some hobbiest network hardware homelabber that wanted to make Networking gear at market disruptive pricing but bit off more than they could chew

hushed basalt
#

Their other gear has zero interest to me

#

I see a lot of that in the homelab reddit/discours

#

People with a shitload of knowledge and experience in hardware

mild tapir
#

Half their staff is marketing

hushed basalt
#

But zero big picture skills

mild tapir
#

I'll say it: If your hardware is good but software is shit

#

Your product is shit

#

You get what you pay for in this case.

#

For just as good and cheaper with controller with same capabilities: Grandstream.

#

Want the full kit? Zyxel.

#

Zyxel is what Ubi wanted to be but failed to be

#

Ubi just has lots of marketing

hushed basalt
#

I'll remeber that

#

I'll need to kit out my house when I am not renting

#

It pains me being a licensed cabler and having to use wifi around the house

mild tapir
#

Oof

forest edge
#

if the hardware is good and the software is shit is not as bad the reversal.

hushed basalt
#

1 x 1 = 1. 1 x 0 = 0

#

No matter which way

mild tapir
#

Go try to setup IGMP on Ubi equipment and come back to me. I'd rather know it's shit right off and return it then find all the quirks in software later on

forest edge
#

hardware in question can make all the difference in the world

mild tapir
#

And Ubi leaves that taste of "almost but no" which is frustrating

#

That and all the exploits that expose shit

forest edge
#

you guys are talking about very specific but my statement is more general

mild tapir
#

It honestly just depends on situation, equipment, use case, and so on

Basically an IDF in the street

Main cables from the exchange (say 400 pair) come in and get distributed to say 50/30 pair cables distributed to peoples homes

Now the NBN has mostly replaces the main cables with fibre backhauls

So people's internet is still running on these monstrosities. And those highly skilled soldering jobs
