Biscoff are delicious
cookie butter???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
You eat reindeer, I am sticking with my cookie butter ๐คฃ
porque no los dos?
Cause amazon doesnโt do prime for reindeer
and there's no way to get that data out of the NVR
@last dirge do you have your cameras integrated with HA? Can you add it as a generic camera? If yes, you can take a snapshot and run it through TF.
they pull snapshots
but I have nothing to trigger it like was suggested
all of the motion detection is done in hardware on the NVR
All you need is an image at the time motion detected. If you have the image, you got nothing to do with NvR.
@modest smelt but... You never connect both PSUs to the same ups... Preferably one is to landpower
Use a PiR sensor, and when that triggers, take a snapshot and run it via TF
@last plaza I have no way to run PIR to where I've got cameras
all of the motion detection is done in hardware on the NVR
@last dirge thatโs crappy way of detecting motion.
Xiaomi?
๐
probably grey-box stuff
If you call something"core network" you are probably rich enough to have multiple PSUs

Anything would work. As long as you know there is motion!
I can set up the cameras to report motion, but they've got the same stupid limitations
they can only send an email
@last dirge just disable the box stuff, pull feeds to motioneye and do detection there, with tf in tow
Thatโs not the best way to do it IMO
they can only send an email
@last dirge how is life in 1950s?
pretty quaint
lmao
@clear ferry I run a not-so-legit side network on a tight budget
there's twice as many water fountains though
corporate hates this one thing
Do or die
@last plaza got an 8 day notice that "hey, we're changing our LDAP servers so you have to update your apps"
cool, thanks for that
Impressive! You got 8 days in advance? ๐
then 30 minutes later we got a 2.5 week notice "hey, we're changing our email servers, so you have to update your apps"
If builders built buildings the way programmers wrote programs, then the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilization.
I'm so glad I don't have to deal with stuff like that
Good for you! But you got your own problems too!
If someone changes something and I have to change something, it's just overtime directly
lol. Job security
I have no qualms to double charge idiots
Youโd think they will learn, but youโd be surprised!
I went from dingy netgear 100mbits to ubiquiti switches in rolling out this network so don't you lecture me atx ๐
Ubiquiti ๐คข
ADB Italia ๐คฎ
๐ Cisco ๐ ๐ ๐
hell no
Keeping in mind the budget
And what central controller does tplink have
Hey, don't shoot me. I just joined and saw network brands.
Sorry, hunting season's open ๐ซ
what is this abomination? https://www.costco.com/cafe-kitchen-hub-with-30-inch-range-hood.product.100509432.html
"on sale" for a thousand bucks
fantastic idea
stick a 30" monitor over something that produces fire and steam
"Access Denied You don't have permission to access ..." from that link @last dirge
lmao I get that on the entire cosco site
Europe :V
yeah, that's probably why
here's the GE version
in many US homes, that spot would usually be taken up by a microwave oven with a vent
Looks like something you'd want to replace every 2 years
Just because it'd be outdated that fast
seems really dumb
Hi All, New here just thought i woukd say hi ๐
@modest smelt Aruba probably in that range
Aruba is 3x more expensive
@main magnet be warned, thar be dragons here
@modest smelt then you have shitty resellers
The entry point Aruba products are usually thrown at customers at a loss
Laugh all you want, I made do with what I had
It could have been worse
8 port stuff
You used the words "network core" earlier
Then I expect 40+ ports of 10/40gbit atleast just as the spine
Yes, we built a new building
it's 22x24p and 4x48p switches
10G switch on backorder
Yeah, that's what I call a distribution room usually
๐
The recent installs I've done have been 9x48 port distribution rooms, a dozen or two of those
yes and what size buildings are those
IRF only scales to 9 switches per control plane unfortunately
Better than Cisco's 2 though
@main magnet be warned, thar be dragons here
@clear ferry toasty
huh interesting, because my myq is broken, in doing some troubleshooting they use tls_psk that really surprised me
must be because the wifi gateway thing is super lower power/slow
warthog goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt
you got it!
if you hear that, you've survived this time
oh i bet w/ psk you can't mitm at all
dangit
There we go!
Got an ecobee3lite, and 2 smart sensors. And THIS should be finally better than that Harmony Lyric T5.
oh you sweet summer child
you may want to consider using the homekit connection method of integration the ecobee. the cloud based approach can be less than stable
Oh?
Cloud ๐คข
Hmmm, I did notice it wanted me to setup a developer API key and such. so, hmm yeah.
i just say it as a fyi, not to warn you away or anything.
Yeah, I get it, it's fine. It's better than my Lyric was, integration hell.
when it works, its great. and the hk way is very solid and local (no lag for polling updates, etc)
Yeah, local in this is better. Heh.
there is a little disparity between the two but you could just use both if you wanted
heh, adding it to HomeKit, seems to be a PITA too though.
it went well for me. hk connector discovered it, the ecobee displayed the code, i typed the code in the ha gui prompt. done
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/homekit_controller/ is the integration i mean
i think it shows up as homekit accessory in the add integration list
Heh. Hmmm.
I might have to see if I can trigger HomeKit scenes from hass somehow. ๐
What in the heck. Why is the "Desired Humidity" 72%?
LOL
And oohhhhh.. If I pair it up with HomeKit directly, I can't pair it in HASS that way, Interesting.
do you live in the amazon rain forest?
LOL
Too dry to be Singapore
Damnit Colin Robinson
I removed the ecobee from homeKit , now waiting for it to show back up as a discoverable HomeKit device for hass....
Funny. It's found my printer.... as a discoverable device. And my Lutron Caseta SmartBridge Pro, as a HomeKit device.. heh
you may have to reset it from the ecobee unit itself
@undone aspen homekit devices can only be paired to one controller at a time
yeah, so I noticed. heh
There we go. Now HASS is using it as HomeKit. ๐
And still has all the motion triggers, temperature readings... Etc.. Of all the remote sensors, fantabulous.
yup. you just won't have the comfort settings (as ecobee calls them) and independent fan control
Hmmm, via the HomeKit HASS integration instead of the direct ecobee cloud API integration?
Now, I'm at least only dependant on the SmartThings HUB for just the Z-Wave/ZigBee devices, and not the house thermostat as well. LOL
Z* FTW
yeah, I don't mind that. And, Even if I did get a... Aeotec Z-Wave stick.. And/or another just for Zigbee too, since I currently use both technologies in my house. I'd have to setup some unreliable hodgepodge setup to get it to work.
or, move my laptop that's currently running HASS, to the living room, where it has no reasonable place to stay.
zigbee and z-wave are mesh systems though, so you could get a repeater(s)
or depending on how many mains-powered devices you already have that act as repeaters (most) you might be good
I could. But, I have no hallway wall outlet to work with for that. LOL
I only have one Aeotec sensor that's plugged in and is in the garage.
O I C
so it turns out i have $43 in amazon credit which means if i were to buy an edgerouter x it'd be $21, delivered saturday
tempting
Yeah. And the office, where HASS is running, is on the opposite end of the house. ๐
should get the EL3 at a minimum
of course i should
that's the cheapest one that can do Gig up and down simultaneously
Hmmm, Possibly could get a repeated on the living room wall where the TV is, because there could be something there.
repeater.
out of my price range unfortunately, especially after just buying the new server
i believe the ERX can do 1G of throughput total so you should still be fine
Oh no, router conversation, just makes me pine for a better set up
router? i hardly know her!
The old ones are the best :p

oh i remember why i never ended up buying an ERx... google wifi doesn't support VLANs (was going to use it as an AP) so i'd need to buy an AP too
ffs
๐ธ
might as well just buy a new router that has a wi-fi radio
it'd be nice if my current router just wasn't fucking stupid
@scenic radish buy a UDM
so now that i've reserved 10.0.0.12 for my server instead of 10.0.0.2, this situation isn't happening anymore: #the-water-cooler message
its worth spending the money on something decent instead of keep buying shitty wifi routers
go get something that will make you realize that webex meetings is trying to connect to the Netherlands over port 53 for some odd reason
and not to adguard home dns server...
reminds me, my abode gateway is listening on port 55023
for what purpose, you ask? telnet

@brisk glen Yes?
matt@debian:~$ telnet 10.0.0.45 55023
Trying 10.0.0.45...
Connected to 10.0.0.45.
Escape character is '^]'.
abode login:
I have abode premium too...
i've tried ncrack to no avail
well, thats a plus
and also mildly disappointing lol
at least it's not listening on the standard telnet port?
security by obscurity?
not too obscure for nmap 10.0.0.45 -p1-65535 though
still makes me glad I vlan the shit out of everything
i mean, i don't have a port forwarded to it
still an internal IoT device can
yah but they communicate out
True
looks at the reverse ssh process
Oh man, I'll be happy when I actually get my bedroom ceiling fan under Lutron control. Gotta re-wire it first, but...
looks at the reverse ssh process
@brisk glen great more stuff to worry about
@scenic radish when you ssh from an device to a server and then can ssh into that device from the server via a port of your choosing bypassing a users firewall
ah right
abode login:
Login timed out after 60 seconds
Connection closed by foreign host.
those damn foreigners
aka any IoT device could easily be turned into an attack point
via the good old standard ssh
Heh, using my motion sensors which were on the ceiling, to do temperature readings, was not.... ideal. LOL
lol what?
Seeings that heat rises.
this is why I use ecobee smart sensors on shelfs and walls
Yep. This is why I bought ecobee. ๐
And some remote sensors on shelves, and walls.. LOL
best part is how it works localy via homekit
yeah, It's nice. So far working with it.
I'm working on adjusting my home climate automation I did in Node Red to no longer do the crazy temperature balancing that I was doing, and just controlling the ceiling fan in the living room to turn on when temperature is higher than the thermostat's setting.
Once I figure out how to get the temperature from the thermostat that is. ๐
For some reason the value I get now is ... "cool" LOL
oh? I tend to let ecobee do its thing
it does a fantastic job and accounts for the humidity
(I have eco+)
@undone aspen if your thermostat is a climate device you want the current_temperature attribute
Yeah, I recall now, looking at my code. ๐
msg.data.attributes.current_temperature
I used to get that data from an input, to target the temperature that way. Horrible hacky ways.
I still need to figure out which dame thing to toggle just for the fan for ecobee
@scenic radish don't listen too much to @brisk glen he is more paranoid than a mcarthyian
Line 85: Unsupported element 'Connection' RIP hassos OVA
climate.set_fan_mode @brisk glen
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
rebuilding home assistent
if its coming through as a climate entity and supports that
๐
support fan mode is 8
lol
Because all users do is complain about it
never!
but its apple so it must be the best possible thing!
hey anyone else having issues with homekit?
I use HA because of homekit
I'm not having any issues. ๐
what a fabulous room, are all these your guitars?
at least my wife does not kill me when I break things in HA because I have basic automatons in homekit
Hah. Well, no freaking wonder it's so cold in my bedroom. 19.7'C, now, while the living room is 22.3'C.
@undone aspen need to get the mean of those sensors that have occupancy
I prefer bedroom to be 12-15c, wife does not
heh
Well, I can now possibly get the sleeping temperature better adjusted, for once. ๐
If, I can somehow, get Alexa/HASS to control the ecobee "comfort setting" mode, to sleep/home/away/etc.. ๐
Hmmm
I'm not seeing how to setup scenes in the ecobee app, for homekit.
googles, one sec.
Hmm yep. Not seeing it as described.
yeah, but there's nothing in there for "Scenes"
There's no "Scenes" area at all.
Yeah, No Scenes.
I wonder if its because you have it directly connected to HA?
I got all my rooms, Backyard, Front Yard, lanai, living room, bedroom, etc... But no Scenes.
I mean, it could be, yes.
time to make your own in HA
tilts his head.
make scenes for home, asleep, away etc
set your desired temp ranges
make automations for time and week day
Well, the idea would be to use HASS to set ecobee to a particular mode.
See, homekit is only issues
@clear ferry they way ecobee does homekit is kinda funky
Also, this is starting to look less #the-water-cooler and more #general-archived
theres an other now?
Seems so.
I have my tstat schedule in home assistant automations along with input_number sliders to adjust setpoints on the fly
Which isn't often
@scenic radish Yeah, that's what I'm trying to get away from. LOL
Ehh, it wasn't bad
It's not bad, but it limits whom can control the temperature.
Because the thermostat on the wall just becomes a point to show that location's temperature, because changing it there would result in... Being automated back to what you set automation to do.
LOL
that sounds like a dream come true
I'm trying to get THAT functionality back in functional. LOL
Worst case, I can add the Developer API back in, use that, only for controlling those factors.
input_boolean to override the schedule ๐
the ecobee is just funky in general
I like, at least, how the ecobee is acurate to +/- 0.1'C, though, unlike the Honeywell.
The Honeywell was accurate to +/- 1'F only.
Looks like ATX woke up Apple grumpy today
that is true, its homekit integration is just funky as hell, a shame its our only local one
Eh,. at least THAT even exists, period.
I had to get Honeywell Lyric stuff working by obscure methods of using SmartThings HUB to integrate it and expose it to HASS.
Imagine THAT garbage.
I donโt have ecobee so I may be speaking out of turn but after you add it to ha, everything in HA can be exposed to homekit.
@green inlet we are talking about how ecobee exposes its settings via homekit
and how its the only local method
@green inlet Well, yeah. API vs HomeKit, API exposes a "Preset" which can be a number of settings, Home, Away, Sleep, just to name a few.
Under HomeKit, this is not exposed, but under the Dev API, it is.
HomeKit, however, shows the Target Humidity, while that doesn't seem to be exposed via the Dev API. LOL
and the DEV api keeps going down
When's the last time you used it?
I keep having to re-connect
Manually?
I'll see if I end up with the same issue, while using HomeKit, and the Dev API.
Funny, everyone ran from nest to ecobee.....now ecobee is slowly cutting off their API?
I ran from Honeywell to Ecobee. LOL
Lol thermostats I say, I only see them if I go south in Europe
I bought my nest like 8 days before they announced the move to google. I stayed with them and now it looks like it is going to work out ๐ค๐ป
Yes, ATX, but you live in the land of fairies, unicorns and pixie dust......what dreams are made of.

I don't want to ever be locked into one solution, and only that one solution.
my requirement is that the API has to work localy without any internet
Yes but now google is promising to expose their entire api and HAss has said they will try and become a partner
what?
How long did that take?
if that API is local...
And, is it still vapor promises?
Prob not but I donโt care about local.
@last plaza these drones are fun af
@green inlet did you not see wink?
wow.
Yes, how long was wink around? I got rid of my 8 tracks when they went out of style. Technology progresses. Besides, google is not wink.
@scenic radish , does it have a remote or you use your phone?
Not intentionally @undone aspen
Remote, they were a deal on Meh the other day. $15 for two mini drones with remotes lol
My daughter is using the iPad we use as our HomeKit hub for school and she found the home app. She decided it'd be fun to turn off all the switches... including the PoE switches for UniFi... Access points turn off, we lose WiFi, important Zoom call drops, and it takes me half an hour to figure out WTF just happened... Good times.
Lmao.....arenโt kids a blessing
I keep my network off of homekit and ha
@brisk glen , thatโs why baskin and Robbins has 31 flavors, something for everyone. I like google.
anyone ever get this? I went to grab some motions sensors in a list on amazon and got this message, wondering if it means what it says, or if I got haxed.
do you have a wish list?
Is that item in a wish list?
herh
So, about how often was often though, @brisk glen ?
several times a week
That you had to manually re-auth it and all?
yes
Dang.
I saw my climate.thermostat_2 go grey.... But refreshing the page it came back to normal.
Temperature does update slower via the API for sure.
good afternoon, would anyone like to talk about setting up my server? Ive just purchased a used optiplex and i am hoping to move all of my pi's onto that box. I've been told Proxmox is the thing to use?
Promox VE is definitely a nice thing to use.
Proxmox, mind you, is a company.
VE is a product they make.
right.
So, like calling Acrobat Reader or Photostop as "Adobe", that's not right. ๐
so install proxmox ve then setup all of my things on virtual environments? or is there a better way that I do not yet know of
"Better" is a personal thing.
right. is there anything better?
"butter" is a fat that comes from cream
And, this is better suited for #general-archived for sure, not #the-water-cooler.
*butter suited
Argh houses/land in my home town are so much cheaper than here
Like $100k for 800sqm vs $1,000k for 800sqm
But no jobs :(
There! At least I can get low battery warnings in HomeKit., ๐
and forever loading when trying to add the ecobee api key via a new home assistent supervised setup
there it is
just takes an age... wow
B A D A P I
It's been pretty stable for me lately
no
giving it a new try
oh look https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/coronavirus/ fails to work
๐
feels like the good old HA days
guess I get to bug poor cogneato in supervised since I broke it by just using the web page to add integrations.....
LOL.
Okay, here's a funny.
I FINALLY got out and tested the Siren mode of my Ring Driveway Flood lights, because I never tested the siren part out.
It's... Not actually very loud.
and its back after a server reboot lol
@undone aspen probably for the best. Don't want to piss off the neighbors
yeah, indeed. ๐
Especially since I'm about to start integrating audible alerts. ๐
It's a pitty though that the Aeotec Siren 6 doesn't act as a Master/Repeater, only a Slave.
Despite you plugging it in.
my abode outdoor siren is LOUD
designed to piss off the neighbors
placed in an area to allow it to be most herd and set off their dogs
heh.
I have a Siren 6 coming, and the Ring flood light, which I will finally bundle together in further testing and designing my customized virtual security syste,.
Oh this is funny.
the attributes coming out of the ecobee for the temperature, is doing very similar to what I was doing for my climate automation.
Adjusting the actual temperature down to point to a specific temperature, calculated by algorithm, so it would keep it on even if the sensor at that location wasn't correct, so it could adjust temperature of multiple sensors to match up.
Yeah, the main temp should be an average of all sensors included in the current comfort setting
Yeah. :)_
I have those switch in and out throughout the day
This breaks /some/ of my logic with the fan control automation I was doing, because that attribute doesn't show me the target temperature I want it. LOL
it.. Might still work in favor though regardless. Hmmm
There should be a set point
I'm not seeing it, not from HASS attributes that Node Red is receiving.
You going through homekit?
I am, yes.
On this one anyway.
Ahhh, target_temp_high isn't available in the HomeKit attributes.
Are you in heat-cool mode?
I am.
Do you get a value back if you switch to heat or cool?
Sheash.. Not sure if I even need heat-cool mode, ever,, In Florida.
Haha
Let me see...
It seems to just show "temperature" as the target, even though it's shwoing 23.7, but is actually 23.5 (on display)
Hmm
So, yeah. HomeKit mode does not provide accurate details, but integrationd oes, in that respect.
Dunno why switching between Cool and Auto mode it just assumes I want 25'C though. LOL
thats bizarre, may be a bug?
A bug in HASS's HomeKit integration?
@last plaza these drones are fun af
@scenic radish yes. Our kids love to play with them in the backyard when I use my big one. Two for $10 - including remote, charger cable and the drone! Canโt beat that!
Screamin deal
who has two thumbs and just spent several hours repairing, rebooting, troubleshooting his ha<>myq integration only to find out his kids hit the gfi test button that the garage door opener is off of?
๐ ๐
lol
Lol kids are the ultimate x-factor
heh
So.....I recently realized I wasnโt using http validation on the linuxserver/letsencrypt docker because I was using duckdns validation. Huge lightbulb......and the ability to discontinue port forwarding on port 80. I went from about 30 drive by hacking a day to about 3 ๐ค๐ป
Drive by hacking on port 80 >= drive by shootings in Compton.
#babysteps.
this is the second time i've had to reboot the host from ssh to get access to HA frontend. I wonder if that's early sign of sdcard failure or if it's something to do with how long the instance remains active between reboots
how's your mini pc working out for ya @scenic radish
@forest edge I like it! Nice upgrade from the pi.
once you go VM running on an SSD, you never go back to a pi.
is anyone running this rf433 stuff? is it worth messing with? I heard runtime is great on battery powered stuff.
which rf433 thing? I have a skylight I want to wire up somehow and I think itโs 433
It depends on what you want to do
My xiaomi aqara zigbee temp sensors last forever. And so do my ikea PIRs
If you have any sort of remote control for a fan, blinds, etc, chances are it's 433mhz
I think my dumb fireplace is 915MHz or something? Iโm reading that my skylight might be an encrypted protocol, so Iโd have to buy a bridge from them anyway, sigh
See if rtl 433 supports the fireplace
Is anyone here running HA on an Odroid XU4?
@last dirge still up?๐
sup?
Nothing. Flipping some burgers so killing time. Been a long day
I'm watching mindless videos on YouTube
out of dash buttons?
Too tired did it quick. Selected the wrong label in Rhino
have you tried the heatshrink cartridges?
Yep
do they work well?
does anyone have Almond working? Are there some docs somewhere that I'm missing?
It's so wild seeing the %age of DNS queries blocked now that I've installed AdGuard. Can't believe that 20-30% of all my DNS requests have been for ads! So damn much advertising!
Itโs cool youโre seeing that data. I donโt think I want to even know
Wow, that's crazy!
How does AdGuard compare to piHole?
Got my first UniFi device today!!! ๐
And now I need more. Heh, such is life.
I would have expected the number to be higher tbh @thick dragon
Atleast if you are in a household with atleast 3 people
Yeah I have a 14 y/o daughter that takes her fair share of consuming bandwidth.
@peak cloud They doing about the same thing.
in general you selfhost the subscription DNS service, Latency is also a tiny bit better then piHole.
Does either support ipv6? I suspect DNS might be faster there
firewalled all ipv6 at home ๐
had a thunderstorm roll through here and my pir which is set to like 1ft was going off like crazy lol
Morning
You want thundersnow
They are snowing down back home
I see new reports about closed roads and police telling people to not drive
So I send them Snapchat about how nice our roads are, every day
๐ถ
The local university webcam says it all
Tromsรธ Weather picture video rain snow temperature humidity wind sun pressure Vรฆr bilde regn snรธ temperatur vind sol.
Our roads are cool too
typical Norwegian dependability right there lol
that first camera is probably sitting on the ground under 10ft of snow
How much do you pay for them?
We have some sort of tax based on the fuel it uses and its weight
i see the myq intergration is brokered again
Question: ~8ball What about MyQ?
Answer: The Sky's The Limit
lol
I have a shelly 1 now, just waiting on the reed switches
finally get away from that cloud bs
OMG why did I wait so long to finally get my first UniFi device?!?!!?
ask @clear ferry ๐
#the-water-cooler message
wich you got?
I got an UAP-AC-M.
@clear ferry Why do you hate Ubiquiti?
I have another UAP-AC-M on order, it'll be here Tuesday. Going to set it up as a wireless uplink to rebroadcast my network to FOH.
yea, why? @clear ferry
I'm not really sure I've ever heard anyone actually complain about Ubiquiti products...
@peak cloud go to sleep ๐
I'm no where near tired yet d00d.
Go sleep
Only on my 4th beer.
Rookie numbers! ๐ป
I didn't start until an hour ago, jeeze.
get your priorities sorted
They are sorted! My network is not on fire.
added firewall? ๐
Firewall is already setup in the router.
But that's been there.
Need to get a hardware firewall. Is that what the USG is? Or is the USG just a router?
so... much.. greeeeeeeennnn
hey guys what is home-assistant-freyes
Here , try this:
http://letmegooglethat.com/?q=home-assistant-freyes
i assume its home assistant to be able to be installed via snap? is it the same version/layout as have on the pi's?
no, it looks like someone's m,odification of an older version of HA
oh
what i want to try and do it run a daemon on the home assistant software itself, any ideas if its possible?
https://www.home-assistant.io/ is the only official source everything else is someone doing thier own thang
What daemon are you trying to run?
just a cryptocurrency wallet daemon
If there is not an add-on for it (for supervised), then you might look into running a Docker install.
hm ok, im super knew to that
(If there is a Docker image available for it)
If not, Build one ๐
Yeah, I don't see that happening. ๐
I never touched docker files - Lets see how long it takes me
anyway, im involved with a cryptocurrency called Denarius and ive built myself a fullon crypto mining man cave and the room is 100% fully automated via home assistant. just wanted to share some images
Hi guys just wanted to post some images of a few things Ive been working on. Ive built myself my very own crypto room. I built the entire lot, and proved to be a lot of work, but well worth it. Just wanted to share my work. Framing up of the room Installation of exterior sheet...
anyway here is the link
so what ive done to fully automate the cooling, lighting, generator backup etc etc etc , its all done via home assistant. So the last 4 months ive been building it all. from scratch. ive had no experience ever in coding
thats only a few pages, but there are many more. the app monitors all the servers, daemons and everything as i run a website, fortunastakehosting.com which hosts masternodes for Denarius
should post that in #diy-archived that's where creative things get noticed the most. also might make it in the next blog about what people are doing with HA, never know!
The forum has a projects section
oh ok, i might post it all there ๐
there needs to be a link to the forums somewhere more noticable
too bad discord doesn't have an ability to like put hot links as a channel place holder or something
There's a work-around for that that we've used before.
Create channel. Post one message containing the link to the forum. Lock channel.
lol
It worked!
You can find the community forum here
i wonder if you could make a category name a link and just not add any channels lol
It's fine, if it wasn't a mod would yell at you ๐
pssh what you did was not nearly as bad as the emoji spam we endure on a daily basis around here
oh im used to it dont worry, im admin in Denarius, the crypto im involved in
been in discord the last 3 years or so
@midnight adder Could be worse , ask @ocean mirage
lol
I was about to send that screenshot!! Hhahah
!!!!!

YOU HATE ME
lol

wow it worked in here

I'm serious: Do not do that again, or you will be banned.
I know
:/
I passed whiskerz
normally, it wouldnt do the thing if it wasnt only the group
apparatnly, if i do @fading zodiaca
it jsut does the name
Well, you summoned 20+ mods...
Beta testing of greenhouse controller still commencing
Well, alteast stuff is safe
?warn @fading zodiac Do not needlessly tag atMod again.
Mimiix#5877 has been warned.
@clear ferry congrats
Uhm did someone tagged me?
Where is the fire?
^^^^^^ did @thick crypt he did a bad bad thing
About half of the mods are brand new as of a couple days ago. So you legit just tagged nearly 20 people that jump at the atMod tag.
๐ฅ
hehe
and @scenic radish slept through it lmao
Can you even see when it's mod and when it's you personally that was tagged?
yes it shows message @low harness
You're right...it could be worse. Just ask @clever mortar (hint: https://buprestidfrilledlizard.htmlpasta.com/)
Who woke me up?
prob me, ive been posting alot the last 30 mins lol
points at @clear ferry
@junior forge i did ๐
I fucked up again.
Discord added a feature.
Apparrantly, if you add stuf , the prefix stays
So i do @fading zodiaca
It still tags me
:/
Kinda stupid
Anyway, Why don't you guys get a postbox?
That you can PM
Theres a bot they use in another big discord(i think it was RDR2?)
That one you send a message which opens a ticket
You wanted to mail my ass a letter? ๐
i'd like your adres and send a postcard.
Would that work?
@peak cloud it's called Modmail
I want the address to send an 80 kg steel furnace
I dont think my delivery guy likes that
has anyone even used atMods properly?
I can't recall a single time needing to ever use it
Exactly
So that modmail
helps
maybe skala can make it work with hsi bot
but more that it just gets forwarded, because a PM works far better then the @ function.
Primary use has been to alert us to spammers/abusive idiots
lol and here i thought we were the spammers/abusive idiots
I will look into that -- not a bad idea at all.
That does look pretty slick
@peak cloud do you see this with last discord update?
4 rules here:
- No HA support.
- No politics.
- No religion.
- Be civil.
!ticket need helpz wit my windoze installation

- Don't annoy the mods ๐
Mine are all there.
Gotta do other stuff than it, sometimes
damn
There's quite a few more past the bottom of that haha
the one under the siren is a folder
Oooo, neat! Didn't know about folders
Just put them inside each other.
I use it primarly to put the ones i hardly use in 1 place
@clever mortar Your #5 falls under #4.
Folders are damned handy
I'm in 24 servers
Only 20 here.
I need to up my ignored servers game ๐ค
23 of them are about cherry flavored food in some form or another i bet
It's crazy how quickly Discord grew.
ITs still a chrome browser tho.

At one point I think we were in the top 2 or 3 servers on Discord.
รญ
No clue
I came up with an app I wanted to create, but have no experience in writing native apps.
I love webapps
hey guys is it possible to install home assistant on ubuntu desktop?
so wont work on ubuntu 18 ?
im learning, dont be a prick, im new here
@midnight adder Head over to #330944238910963714 or #672217570283094017 -- which one depends on whether you want to run a supervised install or not.
MyQ?
Here , try this:
http://letmegooglethat.com/?q=myq+๐
lmao
๐
And i found a app
For a garage?
yes
Aah okay
Cloud ๐คข
@clear ferry Still wondering why you hate Ubiquiti.
Haven't worked with it, but from what I've seen in the interfaces and forums regarding im not very impressed, but I come from enterprise side, so I'm picky
I've always thought it was enterprise, but at consumer prices.
What else would you want to see on a dashboard?
Maybe by the time this virus stuff passes you'll figure out what you want to say?
Dashboards are just gimmicky, can I access the cli onsite with a serial cable and get port statistics and a proper error log? And can I create interface groups to configure 48 interfaces at once from a single parent interface? Or for that matter, a single group that can configure 9 switches at once ? Then we are starting to scratch enterprise, not to mention a decent amount of 10-25-40g ports
In real life we never use dashboards, and the customers that have them have them on a big display that shows the dashboard for 3 seconds every 5 minutes
I need a proper featureset that I can configure either from cli or SSH, with an intuitive cli
I think somebody's aiming too high ๐
Cli onsite with an ethernet cable. Not sure about port stats and error logs. I think it's possible to create interface groups to configure many at a time.
Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't use dashboards -- haha.
@clever mortar someone said enterprise
Don't be hating on my Netgear
prosumer is what Ubiquiti is aiming for though?
I don't come from enterprise, so it's helpful to have some insight on that.
What is your usecase & goal dal3h?
A stable network that is accessible 30ft from the exterior walls of my house.
So home network
You're A-OK with ubiquiti
Anybody trying to shit on ubiquiti for home useage is insane
"But but my $5000 switches and AP's perform better!"
But also with security, and also "parental controls." I have a pre-teen and two 6.y.o.
What I will say though is that the UniFi UI is waayyyy better and more informative than the ASUS UI.
I'll shit on anything Tuesday, for a hamburger today
@peak cloud well, you are comparing barely consumer worthy to something atleast three steps up
So what you're saying is that Ubiquiti is actually some good higher-level stuff for home networking?
What do you run at your own home? This I am very curious about.
My company has 10 or so employees. But we're not an IT company. Surely that matters.
So it's like $72,306 worth of networking equipment?
That's also the yearly power cost in Australia
Where we're going we don't need secure mounting
You should just fill a rack full of UPSs and use it to feed your house
Isn't that what Tesla is selling now?
Powerwalls
Remind me to never advise anyone to work with styrofoam cutting
Looks like spray foam
Yeah the yellow one is
Chose the white one instead
I currently look like a Unicorn ejaculated in my garage
Depending on your definition of Unicorn, that could be a very good thing.

@fading zodiac yes, master?
Hahahaha, a little late to the party @scenic radish
OMFG STOP @fading zodiac
wat?
You rang my lord?
Frenck is enjoying time with his kiddos. Leave him alone!
@junior forge Enjoy!
Maybe you should remove your @ key?
That would be a problem emailing
@low harness Too bad we don't have a lawbot to go in and remove it for them.
"Ermuhgurd, that lawbot went against my constitutional rights!"
@fading zodiac Nope, I live in Enschede
@fading zodiac Haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but saw the PMs. Looks pretty good, except that it looks like it's based on direct messages instead of tags.
For those who don't know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwZ6Lou3uN8
Well
A fireman release photos he took from the scene, which he never released
he did now
I still can't get my head around the fact that for 1: Someone found it responsible to store that much in a liviing area.
It was
But more amazingly
that shockwave on it
on the vid
It feels odd that only the company was blamed and not anyone else. Sure, they fucked up bigtime but he had permits right?
Someone gave those
That was 2 years and 3 days ago?
@peak cloud No 20 years
I was 5.
Check the YT vid
Easy to see what happened there .
Last boom was the one that caused what you see there.
Still watching.
And people still think its responsible to use that kind of fireworks.
Jesus Christ.
The guy you hear is the one that filmed it.
Brave guy right there.
20 people lost their lives that day.
Well that was a miracle
since it was a hot day, most people were outside and where able to flee the scene
And like 4 minutes later, that shed was gone.
Wow. 3:32 = insane.
The last bang?
And that shockwave, wow.
Yep.
really large area of the city center was wiped out
To this day i still don't know why it is that unknown.
"But did it crumbled two towers? ๐ " (total sarcasm)
Seriously, that's bad. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that.
^
They evne brought one from eindhoven?
๐คทโโ๏ธ 20 years ago... everybody remembers who lives here. Dark day. Everybody exactly know where they where at that day
But just insane... like this is not terrorism
Wow, that area is a lot bigger than it seemed in the video.
And what amazes me the most: it is still not known what caused it.
but just a company storing large amounts of professional heavy grade fireworks in the city center, in the middle of housing area
@fading zodiac Our city, as who gives a permit to store heavy fireworks like that on that location. The discussion if they stored more than allowed doesn't matter to me.
We had a similar event in Texas on April 17 2013.
Yeah, to me that's a government level issue (whether local or central is irrelevant)
You shouldn't be allowing folks to store explosives in a residential area like that
(or, shouldn't allow a residential area to approach a commercial area storing them)
airial shot
Now just imagine if that were tannerite in that house instead of fireworks.
~links @fading zodiac
@fading zodiac You can disable link preview in Discord by adding < before and > after the URL, like this: <http://home-assistant.io/>
@junior forge I guess
If you're not familiar with "Tannerite," it's a binary explosive that is made with potassium nitrate and aluminum powder.
The only thing that can ignite it is a high velocity rifle round.
I think it all have lead up to this. Wrong place to build it, storing to much and then not governed up to it.
But it is unfair to only blame the company
I'm going to watch the docu later today i think.
What area is that Frenck? Do you have a maps url?
It is called the roombeek
Looks fancy new
You can just tell what was broken. Look at the new vs old on maps.
Did the peoiple get the houses?
Well it was the lesser income that lived there
So new houses where built...
some people returned, but it took a long time to rebuilt and... it is now a hot, fresh part of the city
so houses became expensive
live is unfair
That's a second one ofcourse. Would you like to live at a place that has such memories
To you*
Dunno
So country is mostly open, but we are encouraged to not travel abroad until atleast the end of August
