Is Biscoff cookies just an American Airlines thing or more an EU thing?

Biscoff are delicious

I know. Have you seen this:

Cause amazon doesnโ€™t do prime for reindeer

last plaza
#

and there's no way to get that data out of the NVR
@last dirge do you have your cameras integrated with HA? Can you add it as a generic camera? If yes, you can take a snapshot and run it through TF.

last dirge
#

they pull snapshots

#

but I have nothing to trigger it like was suggested

#

all of the motion detection is done in hardware on the NVR

last plaza
#

All you need is an image at the time motion detected. If you have the image, you got nothing to do with NvR.

clear ferry
#

@modest smelt but... You never connect both PSUs to the same ups... Preferably one is to landpower

last plaza
#

Use a PiR sensor, and when that triggers, take a snapshot and run it via TF

modest smelt
#

Look at mr rich here

#

Having switches with multiple psu's

last dirge
#

@last plaza I have no way to run PIR to where I've got cameras

last plaza

all of the motion detection is done in hardware on the NVR
@last dirge thatโ€™s crappy way of detecting motion.

Xiaomi?

probably grey-box stuff

clear ferry

If you call something"core network" you are probably rich enough to have multiple PSUs

last plaza
#

Anything would work. As long as you know there is motion!

last dirge
#

I can set up the cameras to report motion, but they've got the same stupid limitations

#

they can only send an email

clear ferry
#

@last dirge just disable the box stuff, pull feeds to motioneye and do detection there, with tf in tow

last plaza
#

Thatโ€™s not the best way to do it IMO

#

they can only send an email
@last dirge how is life in 1950s?

Got an ecobee3lite, and 2 smart sensors. And THIS should be finally better than that Harmony Lyric T5.

oh you sweet summer child

you may want to consider using the homekit connection method of integration the ecobee. the cloud based approach can be less than stable

Cloud ๐Ÿคข

undone aspen

Hmmm, I did notice it wanted me to setup a developer API key and such. so, hmm yeah.

wild grove
#

i just say it as a fyi, not to warn you away or anything.

undone aspen
#

Yeah, I get it, it's fine. It's better than my Lyric was, integration hell.

wild grove
#

when it works, its great. and the hk way is very solid and local (no lag for polling updates, etc)

undone aspen
#

Yeah, local in this is better. Heh.

wild grove
#

there is a little disparity between the two but you could just use both if you wanted

undone aspen
#

heh, adding it to HomeKit, seems to be a PITA too though.

wild grove
#

it went well for me. hk connector discovered it, the ecobee displayed the code, i typed the code in the ha gui prompt. done

undone aspen
#

There we go, had to do it from the ecobee app itself.

#

Not the Home app.

wild grove
#

i think it shows up as homekit accessory in the add integration list

undone aspen
#

Heh. Hmmm.

#

I might have to see if I can trigger HomeKit scenes from hass somehow. ๐Ÿ™‚

#

What in the heck. Why is the "Desired Humidity" 72%?

#

LOL

#

And oohhhhh.. If I pair it up with HomeKit directly, I can't pair it in HASS that way, Interesting.

undone aspen

I removed the ecobee from homeKit , now waiting for it to show back up as a discoverable HomeKit device for hass....

#

Funny. It's found my printer.... as a discoverable device. And my Lutron Caseta SmartBridge Pro, as a HomeKit device.. heh

wild grove
#

you may have to reset it from the ecobee unit itself

undone aspen
#

Eh. I'll restart hass first, see if it gets it.

#

That did it. ๐Ÿ™‚

scenic radish
#

@undone aspen homekit devices can only be paired to one controller at a time

undone aspen
#

yeah, so I noticed. heh

#

There we go. Now HASS is using it as HomeKit. ๐Ÿ™‚

#

And still has all the motion triggers, temperature readings... Etc.. Of all the remote sensors, fantabulous.

clear ferry
scenic radish
#

yup. you just won't have the comfort settings (as ecobee calls them) and independent fan control

undone aspen
#

Hmmm, via the HomeKit HASS integration instead of the direct ecobee cloud API integration?

#

Now, I'm at least only dependant on the SmartThings HUB for just the Z-Wave/ZigBee devices, and not the house thermostat as well. LOL

scenic radish
#

yeah, via homekit controller

#

gotta get a zigbee/z-wave stick boi

clever mortar
#

Z* FTW

undone aspen
#

yeah, I don't mind that. And, Even if I did get a... Aeotec Z-Wave stick.. And/or another just for Zigbee too, since I currently use both technologies in my house. I'd have to setup some unreliable hodgepodge setup to get it to work.

#

or, move my laptop that's currently running HASS, to the living room, where it has no reasonable place to stay.

scenic radish
#

zigbee and z-wave are mesh systems though, so you could get a repeater(s)

#

or depending on how many mains-powered devices you already have that act as repeaters (most) you might be good

undone aspen
#

I could. But, I have no hallway wall outlet to work with for that. LOL

scenic radish

not with that attitude

๐Ÿ˜›

undone aspen

I only have one Aeotec sensor that's plugged in and is in the garage.

this is why I use ecobee smart sensors on shelfs and walls

I'm working on adjusting my home climate automation I did in Node Red to no longer do the crazy temperature balancing that I was doing, and just controlling the ceiling fan in the living room to turn on when temperature is higher than the thermostat's setting.

For some reason the value I get now is ... "cool" LOL

oh? I tend to let ecobee do its thing

it does a fantastic job and accounts for the humidity

@undone aspen if your thermostat is a climate device you want the current_temperature attribute

brisk glen

you can

set up the scenes in the ecobee app for homekit

trigger those

undone aspen

I'm not seeing how to setup scenes in the ecobee app, for homekit.

There's no "Scenes" area at all.

brisk glen
undone aspen
#

Yeah, No Scenes.

brisk glen

I wonder if its because you have it directly connected to HA?

undone aspen

I got all my rooms, Backyard, Front Yard, lanai, living room, bedroom, etc... But no Scenes.

I mean, it could be, yes.

brisk glen

time to make your own in HA

set your desired temp ranges

make automations for time and week day

undone aspen

Well, the idea would be to use HASS to set ecobee to a particular mode.

clear ferry

See, homekit is only issues

brisk glen
#

@clear ferry they way ecobee does homekit is kinda funky

clear ferry
brisk glen
#

theres an other now?

undone aspen

Seems so.

scenic radish
#

I have my tstat schedule in home assistant automations along with input_number sliders to adjust setpoints on the fly

#

Which isn't often

undone aspen
#

@scenic radish Yeah, that's what I'm trying to get away from. LOL

scenic radish
#

Ehh, it wasn't bad

undone aspen
#

It's not bad, but it limits whom can control the temperature.

#

Because the thermostat on the wall just becomes a point to show that location's temperature, because changing it there would result in... Being automated back to what you set automation to do.

#

LOL

brisk glen
#

that sounds like a dream come true

undone aspen
#

I'm trying to get THAT functionality back in functional. LOL

#

Worst case, I can add the Developer API back in, use that, only for controlling those factors.

scenic radish

input_boolean to override the schedule ๐Ÿ˜›

undone aspen

heh

#

That's a possability, indeed. ๐Ÿ™‚

brisk glen
#

the ecobee is just funky in general

undone aspen

I like, at least, how the ecobee is acurate to +/- 0.1'C, though, unlike the Honeywell.

#

The Honeywell was accurate to +/- 1'F only.

green inlet
#

Looks like ATX woke up Apple grumpy today

brisk glen
#

that is true, its homekit integration is just funky as hell, a shame its our only local one

undone aspen
#

Eh,. at least THAT even exists, period.

#

I had to get Honeywell Lyric stuff working by obscure methods of using SmartThings HUB to integrate it and expose it to HASS.

#

Imagine THAT garbage.

green inlet
#

I donโ€™t have ecobee so I may be speaking out of turn but after you add it to ha, everything in HA can be exposed to homekit.

brisk glen
#

@green inlet we are talking about how ecobee exposes its settings via homekit

#

and how its the only local method

undone aspen
#

@green inlet Well, yeah. API vs HomeKit, API exposes a "Preset" which can be a number of settings, Home, Away, Sleep, just to name a few.

#

Under HomeKit, this is not exposed, but under the Dev API, it is.

#

HomeKit, however, shows the Target Humidity, while that doesn't seem to be exposed via the Dev API. LOL

brisk glen
#

and the DEV api keeps going down

undone aspen
#

When's the last time you used it?

brisk glen
#

I keep having to re-connect

undone aspen
#

Manually?

brisk glen
#

yes

#

it looses authorization

undone aspen
#

hmmm

#

How often?

brisk glen
#

too often

#

I gave up on it

undone aspen
#

I'll see if I end up with the same issue, while using HomeKit, and the Dev API.

green inlet
#

Funny, everyone ran from nest to ecobee.....now ecobee is slowly cutting off their API?

undone aspen
#

I ran from Honeywell to Ecobee. LOL

clear ferry
#

Lol thermostats I say, I only see them if I go south in Europe

green inlet

I bought my nest like 8 days before they announced the move to google. I stayed with them and now it looks like it is going to work out ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

Yes, ATX, but you live in the land of fairies, unicorns and pixie dust......what dreams are made of.

undone aspen

When Google took over Nest.. I was glad I never bought into nest.

clear ferry
undone aspen

I don't want to ever be locked into one solution, and only that one solution.

my requirement is that the API has to work localy without any internet

Yes but now google is promising to expose their entire api and HAss has said they will try and become a partner

brisk glen

what?

undone aspen

How long did that take?

if that API is local...

I have a Siren 6 coming, and the Ring flood light, which I will finally bundle together in further testing and designing my customized virtual security syste,.

#

Oh this is funny.

#

the attributes coming out of the ecobee for the temperature, is doing very similar to what I was doing for my climate automation.

#

Adjusting the actual temperature down to point to a specific temperature, calculated by algorithm, so it would keep it on even if the sensor at that location wasn't correct, so it could adjust temperature of multiple sensors to match up.

wet pilot
#

Yeah, the main temp should be an average of all sensors included in the current comfort setting

undone aspen
#

Yeah. :)_

wet pilot

I have those switch in and out throughout the day

This breaks /some/ of my logic with the fan control automation I was doing, because that attribute doesn't show me the target temperature I want it. LOL

undone aspen

#

It seems to just show "temperature" as the target, even though it's shwoing 23.7, but is actually 23.5 (on display)

Hmm

So, yeah. HomeKit mode does not provide accurate details, but integrationd oes, in that respect.

@clear ferry Still wondering why you hate Ubiquiti.

orchid rose
#

atx hates everything consumer grade

#

atx is a hater

clear ferry
#

Haven't worked with it, but from what I've seen in the interfaces and forums regarding im not very impressed, but I come from enterprise side, so I'm picky

peak cloud
#

I've always thought it was enterprise, but at consumer prices.

#

Maybe by the time this virus stuff passes you'll figure out what you want to say?

clear ferry
#

Dashboards are just gimmicky, can I access the cli onsite with a serial cable and get port statistics and a proper error log? And can I create interface groups to configure 48 interfaces at once from a single parent interface? Or for that matter, a single group that can configure 9 switches at once ? Then we are starting to scratch enterprise, not to mention a decent amount of 10-25-40g ports

#

In real life we never use dashboards, and the customers that have them have them on a big display that shows the dashboard for 3 seconds every 5 minutes

#

I need a proper featureset that I can configure either from cli or SSH, with an intuitive cli

clever mortar
#

I think somebody's aiming too high ๐Ÿ˜›

peak cloud
#

Cli onsite with an ethernet cable. Not sure about port stats and error logs. I think it's possible to create interface groups to configure many at a time.

clear ferry

@peak cloud well, you are comparing barely consumer worthy to something atleast three steps up

peak cloud
#

So what you're saying is that Ubiquiti is actually some good higher-level stuff for home networking?

clear ferry
#

For home, sure

#

For enterprise, maybe if you are running a five man company

peak cloud
#

What do you run at your own home? This I am very curious about.

My company has 10 or so employees. But we're not an IT company. Surely that matters.

@fading zodiac Nope, I live in Enschede

fading zodiac
#

Ah okay.

#

I just saw the video of what happened there at 2000...

#

Heavy stuff.

junior forge
#

Yeah that was not fun

#

still a mark on our City, even today

peak cloud
#

@fading zodiac Haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but saw the PMs. Looks pretty good, except that it looks like it's based on direct messages instead of tags.

#

Well

#

A fireman release photos he took from the scene, which he never released

#

he did now

fading zodiac
#

I still can't get my head around the fact that for 1: Someone found it responsible to store that much in a liviing area.

junior forge
fading zodiac
#

I've seen them

#

Looks like a warzone

#

it is , Dale

junior forge
#

It was

fading zodiac
#

But more amazingly

#

that shockwave on it

#

on the vid

#

It feels odd that only the company was blamed and not anyone else. Sure, they fucked up bigtime but he had permits right?

#

Someone gave those

peak cloud
#

That was 2 years and 3 days ago?

fading zodiac
#

No

#

2000

junior forge
#

@peak cloud No 20 years

fading zodiac
#

I was 5.

peak cloud
#

Oh, hah. Explains the potato quality.

#

ELI5

junior forge
#

Someone had a fireworks storage

#

in the middle of the city

#

that went boom

fading zodiac
#

Check the YT vid

#

Easy to see what happened there .

#

Last boom was the one that caused what you see there.

peak cloud
#

Still watching.

fading zodiac
#

And people still think its responsible to use that kind of fireworks.

peak cloud
#

Jesus Christ.

fading zodiac
#

The guy you hear is the one that filmed it.

#

Brave guy right there.

#

20 people lost their lives that day.

junior forge
#

Well that was a miracle

fading zodiac
#

yES.

#

The thing is, you see the start with the crowd

junior forge
#

since it was a hot day, most people were outside and where able to flee the scene

fading zodiac
#

And like 4 minutes later, that shed was gone.

peak cloud
#

Wow. 3:32 = insane.

fading zodiac
#

The last bang?

peak cloud
#

And that shockwave, wow.

fading zodiac
#

Yep.

junior forge
#

really large area of the city center was wiped out

fading zodiac
#

To this day i still don't know why it is that unknown.

peak cloud
#

"But did it crumbled two towers? ๐Ÿ™„ " (total sarcasm)

junior forge
peak cloud
#

Seriously, that's bad. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that.

fading zodiac
#

^

#

They evne brought one from eindhoven?

junior forge
#

๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ 20 years ago... everybody remembers who lives here. Dark day. Everybody exactly know where they where at that day

fading zodiac
#

In the rest of the country, nobody talks about it.

#

Yes, last week , 20 years ago.

junior forge
#

But just insane... like this is not terrorism

peak cloud
#

Wow, that area is a lot bigger than it seemed in the video.

fading zodiac
#

And what amazes me the most: it is still not known what caused it.

junior forge
#

but just a company storing large amounts of professional heavy grade fireworks in the city center, in the middle of housing area

fading zodiac
#

who do you blame Frenck?

junior forge
#

@fading zodiac Our city, as who gives a permit to store heavy fireworks like that on that location. The discussion if they stored more than allowed doesn't matter to me.

peak cloud
#

We had a similar event in Texas on April 17 2013.

clever mortar
#

Yeah, to me that's a government level issue (whether local or central is irrelevant)

#

You shouldn't be allowing folks to store explosives in a residential area like that

fading zodiac
#

from that time

clever mortar
#

(or, shouldn't allow a residential area to approach a commercial area storing them)

fading zodiac
#

airial shot

peak cloud
#

Now just imagine if that were tannerite in that house instead of fireworks.

@fading zodiac You can disable link preview in Discord by adding < before and > after the URL, like this: <http://home-assistant.io/>

fading zodiac
#

@junior forge I guess

peak cloud
#

If you're not familiar with "Tannerite," it's a binary explosive that is made with potassium nitrate and aluminum powder.

junior forge
#

Nice shot @fading zodiac

#

For the record, that is a residential area

peak cloud
#

The only thing that can ignite it is a high velocity rifle round.

fading zodiac
#

I think it all have lead up to this. Wrong place to build it, storing to much and then not governed up to it.

#

But it is unfair to only blame the company

#

I'm going to watch the docu later today i think.

#

What area is that Frenck? Do you have a maps url?

junior forge
#

It is called the roombeek

fading zodiac
#

Looks fancy new

#

You can just tell what was broken. Look at the new vs old on maps.

fading zodiac
#

Did the peoiple get the houses?

junior forge
#

Well it was the lesser income that lived there

#

So new houses where built...

#

some people returned, but it took a long time to rebuilt and... it is now a hot, fresh part of the city

#

so houses became expensive

#

live is unfair

fading zodiac
#

That's a second one ofcourse. Would you like to live at a place that has such memories

#

To you*
