Man I felt pretty accomplished tonight, bought a new energy meter but came with Tuya v1.1.4 so couldn't be Tuya-Converted, managed to open it up using torx screw against 3 dots anti tamper screw, solder on UART connections, remove 0402 capacitor suppressing RX line and flash it with Tasmota before rebuilding it all again. In saying that could have just bought a zigbee model and avoided all this!

I damaged the LED with heat above it annoyingly that was even smaller 0201 package, soldering that was really challenging.

Both Hot Air and Soldering, I found solder was really low quality and needed more heat than usual lead solder 🤔

Most new solder is lead free. Pain to do anything with. If you hit it with 60/40 makes it more workable.

HA is a single place that ties most everything together. I have some automated light timers in the house but the big thing I really like is sending my video feeds into tensorflow and using HA to get notifications when there is motion but only with people are detected

i just like working with an open source solution. i needed some 3-way switches in the house, found some Moe's on amazon for $20, flashed with tasmota and started working with HA no problem through MQTT
