Tinkerer look at zigbee2mqtt docs, it clearly states brick is virtually impossible using this method as the zigbee fw method is pretty fault tolerent.The only way to screw up is to remove power after the fw file is copied (as you stated)

Its funny how I got into HASS, I bought this $2 smart LED from my Hardware store it was Zigbee based, and I was like "I don't want to buy a $40 stupid hub", so then I setup zigbee2mqtt on my raspi but was annoyed there was no central control then I reluctantly installed HASS. Then I automated my whole house and haven't stopped integrating more things!

yeah thats one of those things i did, two AP's in a 1500sq ft house, one in the garage mainly for outside and another inside on the main floor, set them to not really overlap, i'm sure if you sat in a funny corner you'd lose signal but yeah i had that issue with dropped packets and read going from auto to a set one helped, medium being recommended period
