Well, that's a general for most adverts... need X years experience in a product that's been around for X-5 years and we'll pay nothing
honestly the whole market is jacked up in terms of fair pay and job reqs
@clear ferry I like going to some new places, depending on where it is, traveling itself? Ehh, I get claustrophobic in a car for too long and last time I flew I thought I was going to die.
then you get into the issue of other countries.
@steel urchin that's shit pay for what would be a senior level developer
again, depends on where you live
you can't really make a blanket statement like that and expect me to take you seriously π€£
in the US
remember, i've hired THOUSANDS of people
10 is a fraction of a thousand, yes?
if you're a senior level java developer and you're accepting that little pay, you're an idiot
if you live in LA, sure 100k is shitty
but if you live in Saskatchewan, that's amazing
45/hr 10-99 is like 75K salary
sure, but you're paying your own taxes and insurance typically.... and one could make the argument "then don't work 1099, and have your employer pay for those"
the way accounting looks at it, is 45/hr is 93,600+taxes+benefits
i've always had my benefits paid for
if not 100% covered, damn near 100%
unless i add my wife, when she was unemployed during a large move... but her employer usually covers hers 100% as well
that's exceptionally rare
i don't think it is
it is
again, i've hired for tons of companies, it's very common
heh, i'm going to just go out on a limb and say i have WAY more experience here π and going to just have to agree to disagree
appeal to authority fallacy but OK
(that's also not how that fallacy works π )
it would be valid if someone else came in and said "codex said this, so it's gotta be true"...
you're using anecdata to prop up your status and using that as a "well I've done X"
then THEY would be in a logical fallacy
so a quick search for jobs around me, and 34 out of 35 i've looked at, all have 100% benefits paid... maybe it's time to come off 1099 for a change π
maybe it's just that i only mess with successful companies, i dunno... but i'm up to 70 job postings, and every single one except the one early on is stating 100% benefits covered
"generous benefits" around here means ~$300+/month for health insurance only
7-10 days PTO per year
and I'm makin nowhere near 45/hr 1099
π
well US healthcare is a joke, so you can't really compare the two
you in one of those states that wasn't shitty about the medicare expansion and actually took part in the ACA exchange?
because I'm not
so i stopped after 135 job postings.. only one DIDN'T say 100% coverage
I'm in TX, they're shitty about everything π€£
the place I've been contracting for for over 5 years now tried to convince me to go perm
with very little retirement matching
Cost of living plays the biggest role is costs in every area but on average people these days can score a much more affordable plan
yeah now matching has never been a thing for me
horrible healthcare plans
@forest edge when I was paying out of pocket for mine before my wife got those sweet government job benefits I was paying like $360/month
for really good coverage
low deductibles, low copay
100% preventative care coverage
HSA has saved us tens of thousands
Alittle over 10 years ago my same plan I have today was costing me like $670/mo but now is under $200. Same plan after job venifits was $340/mo. I wish it would get even better but after the Obama thing it did improve considerably. At least for some
Quite frankly for the last 3 months I've forked out over 15k in vet bills and wish pets were covered under my normal insurance lol
You mΓΌricΓ€ns and your plans
@forest edge I feel that
you can get pet insurance
but it sucks and they deny more stuff than people insurance
so are you all having a measuring contest? Just post your W2's and be done with it lol.
We have pet insurance over here, think for a less than $200 per year it convers mostly anything
@clear ferry so what's it take to immigrate there?
thing i've found after being in IT for a while is its all what you want, I've worked with senior engineers who have no life, so, what good is all that money if people call you all day and night and make you work 80 hours a week.
when you're dead, nobody will be telling stories about that wicked domain migration you did.
I write software
@rain swift yep... that's where i am now... (but try 115+ hrs/week for 20 years)
We don't have the insane us immigration rules
i'm burned tf out
@steel urchin see, no thanks
Work life balance...
that's a new term lol
that's where I'm at now
I average about 40 hours a week
its very hard to have any balance the higher up you go
and, it's also a misnomer
i've seen it so many times
I'm also not exactly junior π
I don't want to be a senior anything, I like my free time.
and I only work 40 hours
Yeah, I could double mine if I wanted to give up the balance... like hell
the money hooks you in man
I have 60hr weeks sometimes, but mostly 40hrs
making a quarter million will drive a lot of people to work extra
meh
you just have to lower your cost of living lol don't buy a freakin mcmansion and insist on driving a BMW
@last dirge you can probably make more here with more benefits
yeah, a lot of people live above their means
and they claim it's "expendable income"
i'm married, we live not too crazy expensive, I buy stuff all the time lol
@clear ferry but I hate snow
umm.... it's only expendable if you have your future covered, you're literally living paycheck to paycheck making 150k/yr π€£
like, my phone bill is $30 a month, my car is from 2010
@last dirge we have had 5 days this year π
who cares I leave work at 4:30 and don't think about it again til the next day, it's wonderful.
yeah i need to get to that
stress of running companies has gotten to me after all this time... i don't think i'm able to do it again for a while
but, if i'm lucky, i can retire waaayyyyy early π
I'm conditioned to wake up a the same time every day, to many years of it. On the other hand, I'm at work before everybody else, so I leave before everybody else π
i'm conditioned to 2-3 hrs of sleep a night, so i don't really have a sleep schedule :S
You're broken
π¦ i am
Or living in an alternate reality π€
I used to sleep 4-5 hours per night
7 to 8 hours here or I'm even grumpier than normal
yeah, i literally "woke up" (i use quotes because i don't remember sleeping), had closed a huge dollar delivery earlier that day, and had no clue what happened for the 3 days prior to that
that's when i decided to take a day off
and in that day, i decided i was done
anybody do MS ActiveDirectory administration?
lol not since the NT days
I also wake up at about the same time every day, I don't have an alarm clock, I get to work early so I can leave early, I can't stand traffic.
Now I have automated lights come on when I want to wake up, but I still wake up whenever I wake up lol.
yeah traffic sucks.... but i can't be the hermit type that works purely remote... i have to be around people. Plus, it's much easier to mentor and lead in person than over chat
but having lights come on really low and warm white has been amazing, eyes get plenty of time to adjust
i'd love to work remote, never found a job to let me lol
i thought i would, too.. but i got stir crazy
I'll find ways to deal LOL
i'd be able to move and live anywhere I want in the US
that would make it worth it
can't stand the big city
What's a big city to you
i had a gig where I was principal architect, literally my whole job was to fly all over the world and fire the teams, and hire new ones, rearchitect the entire infrastructure from the ground up, and leave.... The ONLY person I ever talked to was the CEO and/or CTO of the company, and occasionally the CFO to discuss budgets.. For 2 years I literally never saw a person I worked with, and was going ALL over the damn world and not having any quality ineraction
I go somewhere with wifi and work just to get out of the house sometimes
@forest edge almost a million people where I live.
although that was in my 20's.... now i'm a bit more curmudgeon, and could probably stand to use less people around me π€£
yeah, I hate most people.
i love PEOPLE, i hate individuals
like, i love crowds
people watching, getting into random conversations and shooting the shit... love it
Million isn't bad
yeah but move to kentucky and you get paid peanuts π€£
$20 can buy many peanuts
Tedi will do anything for a peanut
Homer: Aw, twenty dollars? I wanted a peanut!
Homer's Brain: Twenty dollars can buy many peanuts.
Homer: Explain how!
Homer's Brain: Money can be exchanged for goods and services.
i wish tesla made a real economy model... i'm beyond the waving my dick around showing my maserati off.... i want something inexpensive, reliable, low maintenance, and will get me from a to b
Get a focus
get a toyota
i have one
or a honda
dem tariffs doe
ok i guess i didn't mention an EV π
oh lol
figured dropping Tesla's name would have done the trick
any EV with any range is going to be about the same price as a Tesla Model 3 SR+
yeah wasn't that one marketed to target $30k?
I dunno what was that German ev that was the size of a roller skate someone posted in here awhile back lol
the Bolt has decent range but costs almost as much as the Tesla
@steel urchin yeah, but nobody bought the cheap one so they stopped making it
everybody paid ~3K more to get the Standard Range Plus
and a not-insignificant mileage bump
Fear of being stranded does that to people lol
@last dirge just come over here, we have subsided EVs and more
@clear ferry but I already have one though
You can have two!
lol yeah @forest edge .... "I drive 20 miles a day, but what if i need to go 150 suddenly?"
i recently learned that my 2012 scion tC private party value is about $5500 to $6500 so it appears i will be keeping it until it doesn't run anymore lol
we've got a Volt and a Model 3 LR
which could be 20 years from now
yeah my wife's chevy was a total piece of shit, we got rid of it and got a 2019 mazda cx-5, love it
Exactly @steel urchin lol
it does everything except full self driving
i'm gonna drive my car til the wheels fall off though as long as it runs and doesn't give me problems.
every single one has completely fallen apart
same
we shall see I guess.
Austrian cars
specifically korean or japanese
toyota4lyfe
Those things seem to last
ford and chevy is total trash
hyundai has really been stepping up their game
aren't Hyundai and Kia the same family?
Audi pre 2005 plz, or BMW pre 1995
they've got an EV
but now i think only owns 33%
but they only sell it in California
wtf lol. don't get in a crash atx
my wife's side of the family were beemer freaks.... they had, i shit you not, 5x z3s, 2x z4s, 2 5 series, and 2 7 series all at the same house

*bimmer
if they didn't LOOK nice, you'd think it was a redneck house
lol you can tell i have no valuation ofo the company
German engineering any day
Those BMW z models were dumb
Zs were shite
not the Moupes
well, every one of their BIMMERs (happy ted? :P) fell apart and they got rid of them all
the mechanics part of the vehicle was fine
but the interior and body literally rattled apart
my VWs were garbage, too
so, i'm anti-german vehicles
my E36M3 was a cool car but a mechanically needy little thing
i'm just done crawling under a car, fucking with engine bays, changing struts, etc... i don't care anymore... just teleport me π€£
I just take my cars to Sweden and get everything done for 1/4 of the price
eh, i've had enough bad experiences with mechanics, i just learned how to do it all myself
i completely rebuilt my silverado engine
pro tip, never buy a silverado
@last dirge no that would be 1/4 too
Volvos are reasonably priced in Sweden?
Volvos are stupid expensive here
yes, teleport me, most mechanics either have no idea what they are doing, are crooks, or both.
mazdas have been good cars for my family
Only owned the big 3 Japanese
Toyota, Acura, and a nissan
definitely avoiding nissan from now on
I've owned Mazda, Honda, Nissan
and Subaru
from Japan, that is
I've also owned a Chevrolet, VW, BMW, Porsche
and Ford
and Tesla
of course
so i notice this
wondering if i buy a hue bulb only if i could get it working with HA to make that octoprint thing work
My father almost ran a red light yesterday. It's the second time I see him do that.
Really considering a Tesla for him....
Which cloud is recommended these days? Think the last one I had set up was ownCloud, and then there's Nextcloud... annnd.. that's the two I knew.
Also, that OctoPrint hue thing sounds interesting - I might try that out once I get my RPi offloaded ^^
@last dirge just
eh?
"The nation formerly known as Great Britain"?
Cough no politics cough π
Fair ^^
Anyway! Which cloud should I go for these days, anyone? Essentially just for myself + parents.
Oh nothing, it's just been years since I looked into it - wasn't sure if anything had change since then :)
Some new great alternative or such, or one of them selling their soul to McAfee or some such equal silly thing.
oh. That Idk. I'm gonna install nextcloud on my NAS soon
yeah, i wana know if you can have it point to a hassio addon or something, i dont wana buy a hue bridge
I'mma try some googling tomorrow, if no major thoughts on it ^^ Was thinking of trying out Nextcloud of the two.. I think I remember owncloud having some payment stuff for it going on.
Can typically find the hue bridge 2.1 fairly cheap atm if it was. Quite a few around here buying more than one of the "Hue starter kits", ending up with two bridges they don't need. Is how I bought my own a couple of weeks back, some β¬30 or so.
If OctoPrint supports it then there's the IKEA TrΓ₯dfri as well, or any of the fancy ZigBee2MQTT things that I didn't look too much into after finding the cheap Hue.
Issue being that the Hue bulbs, IKEA TrΓ₯dfri bulbs, runs on ZigBee, your regular WiFi router can't talk to them.. So you'd need "something" in order to be able to talk to them, if you go that route. Else there's regular wireless bulbs, but no clue if that'd work with the above.
You could probably use a WeMos D1 together with some w2812b led strip, and do it like that, run it off USB power if not too many LEDs.
Does anyone have any tips for full screen web-based dashboards? Weather, news, etc...
Got a 24/7 running old laptop that just cycles random youtube live web cams at the moment, would want to make it display something useful :P
@steel urchin the Roborock picked up a 55 grain 45ACP bullet it found somewhere in the house
another "drive by" brian?
lol
I used to reload and I had a bunch of bullets that I ended up using in 3d printed stuff as ballast
apparently one dropped somewhere and I didn't realize it
@ruby mauve , about 6-8 months ago I installed DietPi and NextCloud on a Raspi3 with a 500 gig usb Drive. Every week I log into it to do apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. Thatβs it. Never really understood how to save things to it beyond an app? Not sure what good that is. I am sure I am missing something. Anyway, if you learn anything along the way, I would love to know. Thanks in advance.
How does saying the name of a country constitute politics? π€

Is it true that USA KFC don't serve chips?
You mean fries ?
That looks like curly fries
π€£ hmm everyone sells fries
KFC has wedge fries for their bowls or whatevver it's called. not sure they have a "side" of fries tho
Chips are like the best thing ever
that is not what we call chips lol
lol fail
those big ones we call steak fries lol
I have no clue anyways. Haven't had KFC in like ages.
crinkle cut can diaf
That picture had a curl to it. π
you no likey crinkle cut?
no those are the bottom of the dumpster mush of fries
Don't eat fast food anymore. Have no idea what crinkle is. Lol
I never cared for sweet potato fries, although the woman loves them lol
@tidal bronze
on the paleo diet i had to learn to like them, but nothin beats a good russet potato fried
On keto for sometime.
and no @hushed basalt , i did the fail
just started keto myself... it's been ok so far, sometimes a bit of a struggle to hit the fats
Yep. 5 days 16/8 fasting as well.
Hardest for me is keeping the cow intake low. π
@steel urchin what's your protein intake ?
well since we just started, mostly chicken because we had a ton left
Percentage wise

i would like assistant in this but need to know witch channel
#templates-archived would be the rather obvious place π
@urban steppe They tried being that restrictive here, but when it started blocking access to tools we require to do our jobs because they might also be used to tunnel, it disappeared.
Demoing a simple proxy, using the python installed in OSX, which connected to an external https server (sslh FTW) could be used to bypass all their restrictions didn't go down well.
Corporations who try to blacklist their way to productivity are doomed to fail
Or even worse, whitelist
I'm not a big fan of the moat security model though
pastebin is seen as a quick way to leak sensitive info
its hardly odd its blocked
although obviously the stupid thing is there are a thousand other sites and ways to achieve the same thing π
Seems like one of those things that just harms the innocent and barely phases the guilty
eh, to be honest, its a bit like padlocks/door locks
it keeps the innocent, innocent
so I can understand why companies do it
It gives a bit of protection against mistakes.
@mint estuary true, and I understand why they do it and work wise I dont need to access it.
The sslh tool I mentioned about is really good for screwing with IT folk. It's kind of hard to distinguish one SSL stream from another, so a lot of really expensive gateway appliances are blind to it. https://github.com/yrutschle/sslh
Once you have an external SSH connection, all bets are off!
Another really fun one is DNS Tunnelling. Easy to detect if you know about it, but most security tools seem to miss it :/
Unfortunately, it seems a lot of "security" outfits are filled by people who got a basic security cert because they heard there's money in security. They know how to defend against the attacks/compromises they were taught, but aren't interested/twisted enough to look outside the box π’
@urban steppe i just connect to 4g at work
@strange vapor you mean like people who segregated their networks to avoid "hackers in iot" but do full routing between the networks?
@clear ferry I segregate out the networks for IoT stuff and have full routing. However, the IoT and media network has no outbound access except for what's needed, while the likes of FORBIDDEN TOPIC on the server vlan can connect into the likes of the Hue and the TV.
Oh, and the Android TV can connect out via a Squid Proxy, but that's it.
You should work in security then! π
I'm about to set up pfsense as my router at home this weekend, with a managed switch. I know nothing about networking lol
I'm hell on the poor security team at work. I'll happily nix anything that's security theatre rather than fixing an issue, which is really fun.
I'd like to segment IoT stuff on vlans and allow only whats needed to pass through
@mint estuary learn networking, do stuff
Not the other way around
That.. is a poor idea
I'm a very hands on learn by doing though
And will lead to frustration and more
networking seems very academic to me
cool * makes note to reach out to you over 4G when my home internet is down on sunday * π

hehehe
I had to do something. I have 100mb fiber but the internet is soooo slow
and my HA addiction means I have more than my poor little router can handle
and even if my current kit is fine, I can't find out easily whats causing the slowness
so meh
was a chance to buy some shiney stuff and justify it to the mrs π
hah
lets be honest, unless you're pirating stuff (no judgement from me), 100mb is fine
And here's me with my 10Mbps
@clear ferry Outside your Norwegian Socialist Utopia, 100Mb is quite good :p
How is life in 2001 @orchid rose
my kid is only 6months so he's not figured out 4k streaming of Disney+ quite yet either
@strange vapor mmmmm socialist utopia
yeah I figured you must be in a scandi country
uhm ackhyually my 2001 Internet was faster than this
I've had gigabit avaliable since 2015, but I only have 500mbit because the price doesn't justify it
It was 10/10 and this is 10/2
π€’
thought I got 20/10 when I did a speed test lol
paying about 500 a month of your norwegian krone's too
lul
I pay 520 for 500/500
cool but do you ever see over 20 degrees C in the summer? π
My ISP should be able to offer me GigE shortly. Don't really need it but, want anyway π
Yes, usually 30-35 @mint estuary
wtf?
he's a southener
Now I am yes, but we can get 30-35 up north too, happened as late as two years ago

Iceland, the only country where locals have to use an app to not accidentally have sex with their cousins
lol not wrong there
we're watching Ragnarok at the moment
Norway looks very much like Iceland but with actual trees
Yes, and less inbreeding
there is an iceland joke that roughly translates "what do you do if you get lost in an iceland forest? step to the left"
And more civilization and stuff to do that is not just therapeutic and relaxing
I realy don't want to ever move to Iceland but I think its an inevitability
we also found out legally our child doesn't get an Icelandic passport if he hasnt spent 2 years in Iceland by the time he's 18
which sucks
I'm considering moving North and just do home office π€·
I wouldn't know what to do in a snow country
I suspect internal temperatures would be warmer and more comfortable than our dog boxes though
It'll get down to 1-2Β° in winter but your living room will be 8 degrees overnight
Our houses stay 20-24c 24/7
Seems warm for you lot
in Iceland they all have their radiators on but windows open
had to explain to my gf that heating costs £££ in the UK
If I moved itβd likely be somewhere with higher minimum temperatures, not lower
I run hot, so I agree
My internal temperature is very high, so I shovel snow in my t-shirt and have to take off my shoes at work
If I moved somewhere coastal Iβd get lower highs and higher lows
Itβd be nice
But Iβll be here for a good few years yet
My house will climb above 30 if I let it in summer
Winter will go below 10
Yay Australian building codes
My electricity bill is also about $2500 a year :/
Surprisingly I've never seen my condo reach higher than 80F (26.6C) in the summer, and we have days that go over 100F (38C)
@hushed basalt I have $3000-$3500 per year probably
My office can be 40c in summer
But that is because I close the door because of all my conf calls
I have a heat pump upstairs that regulates the temperature
That is cheap considering you heat as well with electricity @clear ferry
Well, currently the cost of electricity is 0.23nok per kwh
Plus 0.5nok for transportation
$0.023 what?
Norwegian dolleroos
We pay one price to the company producing power and one to the company delivering it
That is CHEAP! How many flux capacitors are you running at home dude? @clear ferry
None, just too many servers and such
That's about 5 cents USD
So he can burn about 4 times as much power for me at the same price
Yep
Yeah, 0.079usd per kwh total here
Google says $0.025 π
So given an equal load, atxbyea spends in 24 hours what they spend in about 3.

Expensive in Australia than LA hmmmm
We're Hella expensive
Although with city taxes comes about 0.31
They burn koalas to produce electricity
Plus all our indirect costs
How much is water ?
Oh that thing you want to buy is $60 USD, but you can't buy it from Australia, but there's someone willing to sell it to you for $180 AUD
Cheap enough not to worry about it
We pay fixed price based on house size, think I pay $150 per 6 months
That's half a month here @clear ferry lol
Lol, I'll check
If we gun it we pay about $25/month
If we're reasonably conservative it's less
But we're renting so we only pay consumption
Rates are expensive
Water and power is billed here every 2 months. Summer about $1500 a month
Yeah, my memory was right
We pay local taxes and water 2 or 4 times a year
Electricity every month
Gas every month, water and power every 2 months and property taxes, never ends. lol
Gas is the cheapest
And we don't even have that π
I would not be heating pool/spa with electricity on any given day π
If you paid our prices for power you would ;)
All day
I watched a pretty interesting video on EEVBlog's channel yesterday discussing how poor product design leads to massive load on the electrical grid
pretty interesting shit π
You mean like 110v?
Yes the grid should be 220v that's too late for us now.
Although all major appliances are on 220
So not a a major crime π
AC Pool Pumps etc are all on 220
@clear ferry he's in AUS so no
@last dirge link?
gimme a minute
Let's save 30 cents/unit and stuff the environment!
How can bad and cheap product design kill the environment by requiring vastly more energy generation, delivery and PF correction infrastructure?
Dave looks at the shockingly energy wasteful design of mains powered smoke alarm...
Got some time to burn at the lounge π
that's code in the US and AUS at least
Wtf
they have to be hardwired and they have to be able to activate one another
hardwired with battery backup
Mains are normal here too - also "code"
We just do battery, connected to each other is optional
Any new build or major renovation is required to fit them, and they have to be connected to each other
Connected to central station here brings insurance down drastically.
House fires are rare in Norway outside of December
nothing like flashing red lights when they go off
We are fire capital π So mine are central station connected.
sooo, Chicago? or cali

Dwains Lovelace Theme Hello, I am Dwain. Iβm using Home Assistant for over 1 year now. At the end of the summer 2019 I thought why does nobody has made a theme which builds automatic by a configuration file. I have a own web development company so I thought why not make a own ...

hi guys, I'm making an app that serve as Home Assistant Dashboard, it's look really nice and extremely easy to setup. It's only in beta for android at the moment and I'm looking for more tester.

Either way, you probably wanna post it on the forum. Even in the proper channel it'll get buried quickly here
@clever mortar frontend is for support π

i really wish my work would give me a new laptop already... excel has been stuck at Calculating (4 threads): 99% for the last hour
whereas i'm about a thread's width away from losing my mind
why the hell is the sheet that big?
@last dirge it's a spreadsheet with a lot of formulas referencing a lot of data from a SQL query. Someone else made it. I'm just gonna have to rewrite the query and rework the formulas at some point but haven't had the time to do so
For one, they used vlookup instead of index(match())
vlookup π€’
people usually reach for the tool they're familiar with
hlookup π€’
not necessarily the best for the job
Yeah, that's true
I dunno if this is allowed or not, but I found it both amusing, and sad.

FWIW I've gotten the OG Google hub for $47 new before
Or whatever the hell it's called now
Google Nest hub
dang
theyre like 120 euro here
I'm interested in getting one to replace my home mini in the bedroom
then move the mini to the kitchen
I think the hub looks nicer but I don't know how sound quality compares between that and the Lenovo display
imo the lenovo smart display 7 is nicer
doesn't seem to be on the european market yet
ehh that just looks too tall to me
obvi just a matter of opinion though
though for usability that's probably nice
L O N G B O I
the display 8 you can actually orient vertically lol
lol wtf

5 hour delay because Delta decides to replace the avionics computer while taxing for takeoff. π I would think they check these things airside. Lol.
@tidal bronze are you ready fixing to get some more BOOM BOOM with a additional 5x channel amp
No more boom boom for me. I think little too much now. Lol π
Went nuts last Sunday and added these to the far end of the back yard, chromecast audio plus 20w x 2 and polks on the fence line.
maybe they were using sftp
telnet is probably the most secured of all because everyone gave up/forgot about it
@scenic radish whats the temp outside right now?
30F-ish
really? that's it?
telnet?
Yikes
the one with no security at all?
we're suppose to get like this crazy cold snap from you over night and it's only 30F? lol
if the Chinese gave up on it why would you need security? whats more secure than that? lol
Lol
Security through obscurity, perfect!
Although I wonder how many people could hack a mainframe
It's supposed to drop below 0 tomorrow...night or tonight I think
Happy days for @scenic radish

apparently Georgia (the state not the country) lost all their peaches one year because of something like this

What's the C doing in NC ?
This stuff is confusing enough and @wet pilot go double it.
That's down under
Georgia having a cold snap, while here in Maine, we're still waiting for the seven feet of snow
Cough everywhere in the world except murrica cough
See how outstanding the orange is?
Oh yeah, I hate using the imperial system
Way harder than it needs to convert
But if I use metric no one understands me
So never got increddably familiar
I like temps in F over C
temperatures are whatever I guess
either one works
other measurements where you make conversions often it probably matters more
I wish length and width ect was all one system
I wish tools were all one system most of all
oh god yes trying to guess if something is imperial or metric when choosing a tool
well our flash freeze is under way.. creepy how it snowed all day just above freezing temps so every concrete surface was melted and now looks like that freezing effect from the the movie day after tomorrow lol
people telling you their genital size something normal?
not for any reason but i don't know what else to do because i'm not admitting to a stranger that i want to have sex with them but i'm not entirely sure how big their dick is
easier than using google thats for sure
where is "here"
toronto
As much as I bag on imperial I do use it a lot for measurements
My last industry used feet for distances
feet does sound better than meters lol
it's like, certain "things" people still use imperial for here, maybe it's just in my experience but I'll tell you I haven't met many guys who used cm
personal measurements are still usually feet and inches in australia
yeah, that too. i have never met a single person born and raised here who used anything but ft and in for their height
like i don't even know how many cm i am tall. i have to look it up
i guess personal measurements is a good way to quantify it actually I never thought of that, cos a lot of people still use lbs
for their weight
and i am so sorry i thought i was in another server where that sort of talk was more accepted. i'm going to leave now in embarassment
π€£
Personal measurements in cm feels small π€ π
could be worse some may have to use nanometers lol
I am 165000000000 nM tall
note: When deleting data from influx first make backups. It's not like a normal database. hahah π
I just discovered I accidentally deleted all my temp data had to restore from backups from a few days ago because I didn't realize it. now there is a few day gap. oh well, better than losing years of data.
How does it differ?

One of the best comments I've read on reddit
I should try out wireguard some day
You should.
Maybe I should switch to opnsense then, since pfsense aren't adopting wireguard yet π
Or run a Pi behind PFSense as a dedicated VPN terminator π
hello people!
im having a little issue. I update to version 0.105.3
and some icons, like lights, when they turned on, they change to yellow
after update icons remain blue
yeah, maybe this will be usable in future
any suggestion in how to use "state_color"?
i just add it to my entities on my config.yaml?

What is that even supposed to mean?
thank you @low harness
And the lack of you
we're just not smart enough to understand corruption so it doesn't bother us
i must now commit sudoku
LOL... I am literally LOL at this comment "im having a little issue. I update to version 0.105.3"
sounds familiar
version 0.105.3 of what?
@clear ferry my mech suit sucks
but my bowl of bacon does a decent job of moving it around
mine is too powerful and probably needs a nerf

Hi guys, where should I ask for support regarding the supervisor?
Perfect, thanks!
@scenic radish my program's writing XLSX files and Excel's doing goofy crap
it won't display dates properly if the user chooses the format MMMM DD, YYYY
it ends up just showing the first letter of the month word
can't say i've seen that before
what's the format to make it output the whole text of a month?
MMMM
i just confirmed that MMMM DD, YYYY works on my end in a few different ways, applying a custom number format and by referencing a cell with a date serial number in this formula:
=TEXT(C1,"MMMM DD, YYYY")
put another M on there
it'll switch to just displaying the first alpha
which seems counter-intuitive
no signature required
just loungin
I went to school with a kid that kind of looked like that
he and his now-dead brother (unrelated to the syndrome) have some super rare genetic deformity that only the two of them are known to have
and holy shit, he was apparently a stand-in for Ant Man
when he was an ant
also, he's 3' 11" tall and owns and operates a trucking company
he drives big rigs
that was a whirlwind
and apparently owns the domain worldsfastestmidget.com
that is amazing
he drove a hot rodded '93 Mustang that was super modified for him
nobody but him and his brother were able to drive it
seriously, this rollercoaster just keeps going
he's an interesting guy
it's hilarious to see a dump truck roll up and his tiny little body hop out of the driver's door

err, didn't they do that like 7 years ago?
that's the nv driver, isn't it?
or did they release the proprietary one?
there is a reason there is a community done okish nouveau
proprietary one
they have blobs

Was birthday gift to myself last year. Lol. Yep a few ;-)
I guess there's always an infinite amount of new opportunities going forwards
I try not to worry too much about retrospective missed opportunities
But can't invest anything atm since we need cash for a house deposit
i'm still trying to get the last of the houses on the market so i can start day trading
contractors around here are unreliable and scammers
All the good ones get undercut out of the market

hi, why RPI2 is not recomended?
Too slow to provide a decent experience
Google really can't help themselves can they
What am I missing here
Google made yet another chat app
It's their "corporate Facebook"
But they're marketing it as a collaborative communication experience
So corporate Facebook with inbuilt slack
As opposed to their corporate slack
And their global slack
Yeah their product suite is a bit of a hot mess
I use teams at work, I hate it too
I don't want social media at work, leave me alone, lol.
so basically google plus 2.0?
It literally says formerly known as Google+ lol
knew it
@hushed basalt "formally known as Google + for gsuite"
Currents seems more like a rebranding
I could forgive it if it used hangouts as the chat engine
But I'm pretty sure it's a completely discrete chat/messaging

What do people reccomened these days for wall mounted (or inwall) tablets/tablet mounts? Most of the nice ones I've seen I can't find anymore and the others are just super bulky
My guess would be an android tablet that's easy to root. With a 3d printed flush mounted frame and a 180 degree usb cable
@hushed basalt chips or fries π€
same thing
π
Ew
I do love some crinkle cut though
But only when they retain that soft buttery steaming hot potato texture inside
With some good chicken salt
In new York @tidal bronze ?
Yep
Just daytrippin or staying for longer?
Work as usual π
Most weeks I am here few days
Have never had time to go to the other boroughs though
But been out to new Jersey and down to Atlantic city
