tfw you wake up and it's 27 inside... What's the point of living nearly at the north pole if it's still over 30 outside 😠
Thunder here <3 I got a headake but the temperature is ok
We had thunder and lightning overnight again, but the temperatures are reasonable now
Bought two ikea motion senzors
Bought These Xiaomi Motion Sensors and 2 contact Sensors
I want thunder 😞 😞 😞 😞
@hushed basalt they are quite useless imo, atleast with ha
@dark sparrow Xiaomi 4 lyfe
@orchid rose to be neighbors with 🎅?
i wish xiaomi stuff was better translated as I really like their product design, and functions
if their Hub would speak english I'd get one of those
Like having a micspeaker and a led ring integrated into it is just such a good idea in my opinion
is that english?
The Xiaomi motion sensor is an ok motion sensor, and a rubbish light sensor. Their contact sensors are cheap and work well
@dark sparrow that is all I hear whenever o pair something with the hub
The only word I understand is APP
ah
yeah, i wish xiaomi would embrace the global marketing more
first off everything looks so clean and secondly they have a nice take on things.
or rather generally chinese stuff has interesting takes
for example the Broadlink RM Pro has a integrated temperature sensor
quite nice for automation
Also im currently contemplating of trying out the Mi Router
166km away from Santa @clear ferry
Not too sure if I would choose the Xiaomi Router as my main router
Yeah Huawei would be a better choice 😄
Pfsense 4 lyfe
Would love to have a pfsense box - but WAF 🤷
quite happy that I'm allowed to use the old laptop for HA
not as my main router, i got a fritzbox cable, was thinking of a router for all my smart home garbage
Multiple pfsense boxes
Thought on buying one (MiRouter) a year ago because you can flash openWRT on it
I have literally no idea what openWRT is
an router software you can say
Ah
after its a minimal linux system you can do a lot of things with it
https://openwrt.org/
interesting
There is currently only one router I would BUY regarding the wifi power but I'm annoyed by 2 devices Router-Modem
Wrt, haven't heard that in 10 years actually
bought one of those before that release model and would not hold over 50 clients on wifi .... it is currently in the box in closet
Mh I dunno anything else in comparsion to wifi
unifi HDnano ap's
Specifically I have a Fritzbox 7590 and right the next room the Amazon Fire TV has only like 20Mbit and even Games and Fakebook on mobile have loading screens
So I bought a Denovo Ac1200 set to extend wifi and it increased not by far, I still can't watch good Plex stuff there
Wifi is such a unthankful bitch
Yeah if someone is up to paying a few k'ish€
wth is a kishe
i think i got 1500 ish usd dollars in mine
Yeah and I pay 90€ for 2 years rental of a FritzBox
LOL and wifi is bad 🤣
Yeah but good wifi for 1410€ more is not the deal I was looking for 😄
well.. I payed 200 for my ubnt setup - super happy
Mh maybe I should ask at work if the exchange the ap's to newer models somehwn, I think it's only uniquity there as well with like 20 ap for 2 floors
you only need an ER-X for poe and an UAP-AC-LITE for example - ditch your fritzbox lol
yea lite does what up to 50 clients or so
I can only wifi to wifi or DLAN, no ethernet between the rooms
When I was researching Ubiquiti APs I remember reading that the specs are a bit high. The lite starts having trouble around 40 clients. Which was fine for me.
one HDnano will give you 250-300 ft of wifi if you crank it up
to be fair - your client also should be able to transfer this far
how? 4 clicks when I remember right
the thing got 2 x2 antennas inside
My whole flat is just 66m² and it's just about to have a good quality video stream and browsing in bedroom and checking news when shitting
i dont know mm(2) but you see the signal strenth at 100 foot so i am guessing you could do one
one ap i mean
whats a 100 foot about 33 meters or so
1m² is 10,7639
while were in topic internet - f. you A1
https://i.imgur.com/IwAyNch.png
got more ping then download speed yaay
lol that looks like cable internet
yep
I've got the IKEA motion sensor working
Link quality of ikea devices is attrocious though
so Vasiley you want me to get that AP, and where would I put it? Right beside the router as additional AP or rather via the anyway existing Devolo set via DLAN+ethernet in the bedroom?
ap from router ....centered as much as possible
but i am not sure of how to hook up without cloud key and ubnt gear
?
well i have ubnt only and you adopt gear to the system
I now my opinion doesnt count but still 😛
get yourself an cheapass modem, put it tu single user and login via PPPoE or so on your new UBNT gear(ER-X when it shall be cheap, USG when it soesnt really matter) Place the AP near the fire stick or whatever you use to stream and when you like you can still add another AP via DLAN
there you go ^^^ and you do count
Having an AP beside the FireTV in bedroom requires to use DLAN because internet is in living room
and you can run the software to adopt on your pc - I used it only one time - to set up the ssid - after that I just stopped it
that thing of te AP near the streaming device is from Linus tech tips.
they tryed game streaming back then
It sounds logical to me tho. I have not yet tested the bandwidth via ethernet at the receiving DLAN node in the bed room
Maybe I have terrible lines everywhere and only get 50Mbit there from the actual 100
😄
Ac1200? not more then 1.2mbits
Yeah AC1200
@hearty depot 1.2Gbps 😛
The bandwidth which the adapters could transfer doesn't matter in the first case. If the electricity lanes are and terrible condition and 50 other building aspects still could affect the transfer and even lower it to no transfer at all
really? dont belive it - got an AC2000 and 18mbit was the higest of all feelings (building out of 1910)
Looking up AC2000 reveals to me Wifi 2.4Ghz tho
And again, it's still up to the lanes in your wall tho
isnt it a combination of 2.4 and 5 that they come up with the ac standard (naming)
AC supports both I think, but not together
Actually yeah, I only took a 2 seconds quick view
Of course, if you go for an 80 MHz channel on 2.4 GHz, better hope you don't have neighbours 😛
But I see it is a wifi bridge and not DLAN
i dont mean toghter but the rating on router .......2.4 at 400 and 5 at 800 ....so its a AC1200
Yeah
Just like the 1000W bassbox in your local store 😄
The kind of maths only a marketing droid could come up with
no shit huh
What about the: Amplifi AFi-R Mesh Router
ha? this thing does interfere with wireles?
https://amzn.to/2Gx086h
sadly i dont even know the rating on my AP's lol
i set one up once ....played hell then realized it had to be on same phase ..... duh
same - understood the conversation wrong probably 🤷
@hearty depot yeah I was talking about "Devolo 1200" which is the product name and you came up with AC2000 so I googled "Devolo AC2000" and those are wifi bridges 😄
aah!
I chatted about tat a little a long time ago - could have been sjlabby. he was happy with it
fixing to try these bad boys out this week ...waiting on amazon to deliever https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078NN1J4K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Interesting
Yeah, I saw that... curious
I loved Because of this, a cron job is setup ... to restart the Avahi service every minute
Nothing like some mcguyver engineering
is that just another way to say "haha" you didnt backup?
Was an interesting read. Although much easier with ESXI or any VM
@clear ferry my ikea motion sensors are working pretty well
What didn't you like about them?
ooh i just stumbled across some github commits working on GHome local execution
for HA
Party time!
People behind a CGNat rejoyce
wow 10 scammer calls today, not picking up, but strange with so many. im not waiting for any calls from south africa or equador
Scammer calls? I haven't had one of those in atleast 5 years, send one my way
Me neither. Not since I registered to the national registry of people not wanting marketing calls.
I think we have that too, but I have never registered
It's great. After joining it's illegal for them to call you. And it actually works.
Apparently we can do it for addressed commercial in the mail too
load of 10 when I stream a show with plex 🙈
I defenetly have to do something against this .. - not shure if I should rather convert or just upgrad 🤣
Are you running Plex on a pi?
2011 macbook - but feels like it
Mhmm.. I'm actually impressed https://vid.pr0gramm.com/2019/07/27/035bb7e401508ba8.mp4
Depends if load is due to transcoding, CPU load. Without transcoding CPU usage is almost non existant
And why do u Post a pr0 link 🤦
Why not 🤷
I think my problem is that the fire TV can't directplay the .265 wich I encodes with
Correct. Get a good Client or good CPU.
End of the year a new nuc gets released - not to far away.
Not having to transcode would be the better Option..
recommendation?
The Nvidia thingy is the only one I can think of
I thought on a Roku too - but don't know if it would handle
I have a shield as living room device. Yeah it's nice. But I know someone posted me a Box once for just 100 bucks tho.
I think there muß be recommendations in Plex forum and reddit sub plex
So i got this wooden project, i need to measure/draw it a bit more so i can get the correct numbers. Any nice free tools or cheap ones for the mac?
This showed up in my recommends, i like looking back on the old automation tech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pm33KB2Th9M

@hearty depot never transcode, except as a last resort for weird files
I use an apple tv 4k with infuse app.
Transcoding reduces quality a lot, besides the whole having to buy particular server hardware etc.
You're better off optimising shows rather than real time transcoding if you have to
What's the best Lovelace card anyone used
Picture Elements 😉
someone have an go to ffmpeg or handbrake-cli command for optimising a show?
Im quite fond of the tiles-card. https://github.com/rodrigofragadf/lovelace-cards/tree/master/tiles-card Shame it is virtually unmaintained.
cant ask too much more from a $50 camera
Pretty good
up to 13 cameras now ....i think i will stop now
those two trees look ideal for a hammock
pretty entertaining thou watched a racoon play in yard last night
i have put one there but squrrels used it for a runway
haha okay
gonna to put these boys up monday and see how they work ...got one camera thats going to be about 150 meters and didnt want to trench fiber throu gravel https://www.amazon.com/NanoStation-NS-5ACL-US-802-11ac-Airmax-Radio/dp/B07GPQKLXW/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Ubiquiti+NanoStation+AC+Loco+5GHz+airMAX+ac+CPE+with+Dedicated+Wi-Fi+Management+(NS-5ACL-US)&qid=1564313021&s=electronics&sr=1-2
hope the are not a b*tch to set up
@dull chasm heckorino those are some big trees
LOL they are pretty old
Looked like redwoods to me 😂
nah just pines
a magnolia and some gardenia's
trees are not bent ....just a wide angle lens
yea i got two 20 ones inside and cant really complain
Think that is the 720 stream im running now
Never had issues with the poe
well poe works but doesnt seem to be enough for nightvision for some reason
but with regular psu works fine
Hmm, strange, never had issues with any cams I have had, what kind of Poe power is it? I used procurve power injectors at first, but nabbed a Aruba switch with Poe integrated from work later
Which cams are those? In atxbyea's case, I'm just assuming Xiaomi, but which model? 😄
thanks
the beseders i was able to put them on poe but used a poe+ to 12vdc injector and they work perfect now ...guess the network port is flawed for poe
@orchid rose kkmoon China stuff for me
hmm, is there a camera that would be able to send data through an open wifi network btw? Could install in the boat for the heck of it, but having 4G for that just isn't worth it imo
Hmm, how are they configured?
Only know my boss's cameras, he just connected them to his WiFi and he gets notification on movement, otherwise the camera isn't streaming as far as I understood, but you can open the stream any time
They are power connected, but WiFi based
but where does the camera connect. Through a cloud service or something?
So he gets notified when the moose enters the yard of his cabin 😂
Yeah, he uses the dlink app I believe, which uses a callback from the cloud server
So no port openings
alright, that makes sense
I'll read up on that, I guess it could be kinda neat to see what's going on in the harbour
@clear ferry did you try to see if your cameras got the backdoor login open?
Haven't listened to the podcast. What was it about?
oh you mean he had set up a boat automation system? I saw some links to something like that
@late gate no backdoor, but they called home to an ip address owned by Amazon EC2, but I found out that was a subscription service you could enable, but it only sent like 1kb every 4 hours, so I didn't bother analyzing it, just blocked it in the firewall
@clear ferry ah, just a lot of cameras out there with the backdoor login default/tluafed. as a hidden admin account
yea i noticed
hehe lazyness :p
@clear ferry stop going out to camera and point the middle finger at me 🤣
🖕 ❤
😅
I don't believe it, brought my server back from the dead a second time
however i need to get serious about fixing it properly haha
what smartplugs do you guys use
these work great with zha
SYLVANIA SMART + ZigBee Indoor Smart Plug, Works with SmartThings, Wink, and Amazon Echo Plus, Hub Needed for Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant
yep and they are repeaters for zigbee
I have four of these in use at the moment:
generic chinese tuya plugs
they work really well and don't take up much space
What do you all use plugs for
(schuko outlets are recessed so you only see the thick part sticking out)
@hushed basalt non-smart lamps
To be honest I'm not sure what I would do with smart plugs
I don't have any lamps :(
plugs are cheaper than bulbs so i have all my standing lamps on smartplugs
i also have a fan and a led strip on a plug
I think plugs vs smart bulbs are about the same here in australia
Even more expensive sometimes
Anything with an AU socket is automatically more expensive for some reason
Yeah I don't really buy off the domestic market
smart plugs cost at least 20 bucks here in NL while these plugs can be bought on aliexpress for 10 bucks
as for smart bulbs I like mine to be wifi-based so the cheapest is a 13 dollar yeelight off ali
I only have like three light sockets in the apartment though, everything else is standing lamps
tuya plugs are also sold on the european market but at 2x the cost
I've used bays like those in the past. Not the highest bay count, but not terrible
Weirdest are the ones that use pull out trays, with disks that go in vertically
Of course, I didn't try to shake the data off the disks...
@clear ferry probaby just a bunch of supermicro servers
I wonder how much a rack weighs when it's full of 3.5in HDs.
looks like you can fit about 600 drives in 40u
Oh it is a rack
Confusing perspective, I thought it was a single chassis
But that would be impossible at that width
Then the density isn't too big, I install 5u chassis with 70 drives each for 3.5inch or 48 drives per 2u for 2.5 inch
858 lbs for 600 drivces. less than I thought.
Depends a lot on the drive though, I have felt older SCSI drives that weight atleast twice that of a modern one
yea. I would exclude old models. who wants old tech.
I could find you a 200 lb 10MB HD if you want. heh
Watercooled racks weigh in at 1800kg without water if memory serves right
The MCS gen2 with 4x c7000 that is
i just noticed hgst's website is gone. the content is on western's now.
I actually didn't know they were bought
Yea . they seemed to keep that tidbit well hidden.
Apparently Wikipedia says they were forced by the Chinese government to keep the business` seperate due to antitrust since 2012
Very neat - finaly virtual desktops on Chrome OS
I wish Chromium OS would get support for Android Apps
@hushed basalt Check out the Kogan 4 pack of power monitoring smart plugs. Easy to flash over the air with Tuyaconvert. Cheap and AU certified. https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-smarterhome-smart-plug-with-energy-meter-pack-of-4-kogan/

@young sigil I wish on products like this they gave the specs or the PCB layout lol
No manufacturer is going to give away their IP. Fortunately it's easy enough to reverse engineer. https://community.home-assistant.io/t/australia-electrically-certified-hardware/32074/234?u=tom_l
I had that on my A8 too
It's a bit cocky, but I like it
What OS should I try next for my backup server? Had Debian, Ununtu, Arch, Mint, and Gentoo 🤔
Genthree
first search hit: Wellness and Health Coaching
Well, get to it
your brain can store massive amounts of data, so treat it well
post-it notes.
it ll only do that when you challange it.
but the post it note in front of me reminds me that I have a hairdresser appointment tomorow 😉
If you already had Debian, I don't understand the problem. The only alternative for that kind of stable, well known and universal Server OS would be CentOS but I couldn't even tell you one important difference except for Yum vs apt which are just the same IMO (tho I find apt more logical)
Altough the backups I would go with don't need anything else than SSH/rsync/Docker
This feels appropriate here, via r/ProgrammingHumor 😄
haha very funny ``` ssh admin@10.0.0.128

An D-Link NAS 🤦
What do you guys think if this mozzilla webthings gateway: https://iot.mozilla.org/gateway/
@clear ferry You can 3d print a car now?
Apparently
Wow. The future is great!
Made my first smart doorbell
Zigbee switch. When pressed it sends on the signal and blocks any more for 10 seconds
The sends a TTS to google home, as well as mobile notifications
I'll add in blinking house lights as soon as I set up some nap time room blocks
Could make a blinking script, and use the automation to tell it how many times to blink, that way you can use the script for other automations too
I'm using node red
Not sure I know enough about Mozilla's Webthings to really have an opinion on it... doesn't seem to be doing much different?
I think most of my lights have a blink cycle parameter
So I could just pass that along as a variable
hassio homekit. Got it working but now it has stopped recognising the names when spoken through siri but still works in th ehome app. Anyone heard of this before?
Do you mean Home Assistant, or are you referring to some add-on
For Home Assistant try #330944238910963714.
For add-ons try #330990055533576204
Hello Tinkerer. I have had it working for ages. Using enable:
- homekit in my config .yaml
ah I see the link is where I go. Thanks. Still new to this lol
Hint - read the channel topics 😉
Does anyone have their hassio reverse proxied and have esphome up and running? I am having issues with this set up and not sure where to ask.
night all
hows the shipping for aliexpress and gearbest to us?
variable
@coarse spoke both #330990055533576204 and #551843558676758569 is probably better than here
@white radish "us" is also very vague
U.S
That made more sense 😛
haha yepp
While gearbest itself is a shop and has epic EU shipping, Aliexpress is a B2B platform so it may be good or maybe you receive nothing. Just the same as ebay beside that you fight china and not a company in the same country (ebay) if you don't receive it
I always get my money back with Ali if I don't receive my items🤷
Sure they're mostly very polite and respectful, but I remember a case where I bought 2 Tablets for me and my girl with pretty good Hardware for below 100€. Ofc it was all faked, I had to get several apps to get deep enough into the system to proof and even ran benchmarks. I told them this is scam and they better pay me back my money without any returning and so shit. I even went to the police. I think after a month or so they gave up
It was annoying tho
Oh they excused by "we accidently flashed the wrong firmware" (the firmware stated the hardware which was told in the offer) 🤦
Anecdotally I've always found Aliexprerss orders to arrive way faster than Gearbest, but I guess that could depend on the Aliexpress vendor.
Maybe depends on where you live. While Aliexpress sellers usually use standard shipping and everything faster costs mostly much much more or isn't even offered, with Gearbest you even get Germany express for just a few bucks, arrives in 2 weeks. Also Gearbest relabels the packages at the borders so you have not to pay taxes
Yeah probably should have mentioned that was standard shipping for both to Australia.
If I want quick, I choose banggood - you have a faster shipping option than alie and gearbest, for a few extra pennies
Banggood is not faster than Gearbest in my country, so you can't generally tell that. But Bangood is not bad tho
Well they at least state on their website a quicker shipping time but I think my yeelight strip exceeded this time
im mostly looking for aqara sensors so nothing crazy expensive.. just wondered if shipping was accurate. seems like i would want a reliable source either way
might pay the ole amazon tax if its only a few bucks
never had issues with any of the sites mentioned here
just avoid stuff that's clearly fake and remember that the shipping can be quite random at times. Times vary from a week to two months in my experience (to Europe)
thanks for the input everyone
Which do you recommend for ordering stuff to Australia?
Heatwave in Europe, and this is the walk back from lunch in Dublin....
Very welcome rain?
Tried looking for stuff on banggood, found nothing I have recently bought
Nah, we have had fairly OK weather. Monsoon rains like that benefit no one.
@clear ferry Back of the Four Courts
I enjoy the sound of rain, but not the rain as much
Our rain is liquid though
I was way off then @strange vapor
i would prolly wreck there ...no idea what the signs mean ...but beautiful pic
Ireland is very nice, I did enjoy living there
You’ve been everywhere, man
I bet @dull chasm has been more places than me 😛
Makes sense
I have 18 I think, no military
I’ve been to one country other than home lol
dont count @clear ferry you wasnt getting shot at
I would like to do Vietnam, Japan, China in one swoop, the flight time is zzz
@dull chasm valid point 😛
I love food, so I would go for the views and the food 😂
if you stayed in a village or city it may be ok ...i was mostly in the jungles and it is misable .... thai food is the worlds best imo
United States and Europe are big ones I wanna do but hard to plan - too many places
I might do a euro roadtrip one year, get to cover a lot in three weeks
Want to do the same in the US too
Yeah I’d want 3-4 weeks in either but that could cost a bit
Had a college get a deal with a company in the us that delivered motor homes, if he picked it up in Chicago and delivered it in las Vegas within 2 weeks he rented it for $300 or something
That was really cost cutting for him
And driving around Europe is cheap, both renting and eating, unless you come up to Norway 😛
Airbnb is pretty vast in Europe atleast
That’s a decent drive and then you are in Vegas
Also yeah cool
I probably wouldn’t go to Norway, too many colds
Looks pretty but I’d die
You could stay at my parents Airbnb, see the northern lights if you go in winter, or the midnight sun if you go in summer 🎉
But we might break our record of 4.5 meters of snow if you go in the winter 😛
I’ve not really seen proper snow and I’m okay with that
Snow ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
I went up Mt Kosciusko in summer and had some snow mush on it
The more the better
we get a inch everything shuts down
Every second year the lightest snow falls here and melts on landing
@dull chasm Dublin got three flakes the year I lived there and just shut down 😞 @strange vapor
🤣 would be same here
Sounds about right!
London Heathrow calls my father's place of work the years they have lots of snow for advice on how to handle it 😛
Get proper snow two years ago, and the only I could get out of my place was that it was on the road to the largest army base in the country, so they got all the recuits out to clear the road.
Oh, and more importantly, it was also where the largest horse feed distributor is, and I live in the area of Ireland where all the major stud farms are!
My car the fifth of June 2006 if memory serves right
I remember it because it was my birthday 😛
And my parents garage in January I believe
This happens once every 10 years and people lose their minds:
I'm a bit 'meh' after living through a lot of this.
This was my hometown in 1997
@clear ferry did you sort out your rss parsing
It got pretty cold today
Almost made it to 6 degrees
Got to 19 in the afternoon though
I ended up subscribing to Usenet instead 😛
Seriously, Google?
Would I be considered crazy if I containerize my PC with a Windows Installation inside one of the containers?
Windows and containers 🤢
Nah, the supervisor will be linux but ill have one installation of Windows Server inside a container
Can you even run windows based containers on a unix based host?
@clear ferry #551843558676758569 is an archived channel, and hassio I'm ignored.
#551843558676758569 has a link to a server you can get help at
If you're being ignored in any other channel, it's probably because you're not posting enough detail to help, or the people that can help aren't around
I have a problem will result in either you being ignored, or if you're lucky, somebody pointing out that you're not going to get a response with that kind of post
Okay given the recent events , google home BT going sideways , I need suggestions for good/afforadable BT nodes to use instead.
yes sorry I thought I'd be a good boy and post to the appropriate channel
saw your reply though - thanks
It's HA related... so #330944238910963714 would be the appropriate channel
Or maybe #general-archived
rly!? thought it was mostly for technical matters
You do read the channel topics?
#the-water-cooler For chat around things that aren't Home Assistant related...
FINISH HIM!
I read that earlier, almost fell of my chair laughing
@clear ferry containers4lyfe
@hushed basalt They've a tool like anything else! Personally prefer small VMs with proper networking for services I care about, but containers are epic for dev work!
Then again I was poisoned on the idea of containers by having to deal with Virtuozzo! Took a while before I was able to look at container wrappers like Docker without breaking into a cold sweat! 😱
I use containers in vscode to build my dev environment it's great
But i loveee containers for services
I need to break into kubernetes though
It's amazing what you can squeeze containers onto
I'm running my full home stack on a QC celeron 1.6ghz syno nas with 8GB
And it mostly works
Except when I try to docker-compose up 14 services at once :D
😂
Watching these extreme coupon shows makes me wonder, why doesn't everybody do that, even if you only did it once a month you would save a ton of money
Best luck with a coupon in Norway is we get s single carton of milk for free if we bought a lot of milk last month

I assume its a lot of effort
Well if getting your daughters to cut out some newspaper coupons and organise them in the correct order is efforts
I'm more worried about their storeroom OCD level
weirdly specific that only your daughters can do it
It doesn't feel grammatically correct to say "your kid" as a non gender specific term 🤔
Nor "your child" or "thou offspring"
What do you know of English, you speak Barbie 😛 ❤
I watch some BBC
Your nic doesn't have a driver in macos you mean?
I'm guessing they only include drivers for the actual hardware they sell, which is easy when you sell five products
Not using anything additional with my Mac Pro
I have a customer that only uses macs, they have so many drawers of usb extension stuff for them it is insane, i reckon around 400 bits just for Ethernet, hdmi, usb, etc
My girlfriend prefers macs. My only previous experience was using our school macs to play cod 2
I don't have much experience with them I own a 13" one I bought 15 years ago for some testing and I integrated them in AD2003
Still going strong?
I have it in my closet, it works atleast 😛
Closeted mac user
Hi folks, I'm new here and thought this is probably the best place to introduce myself. I recently started working with home assistant as part of a (electricity) demand response project, we are implementing some of our project as a HA custom component. I'm based in Scotland/Ireland.
@jaunty maple be warned, we are all weirdos, we bite and we always like to do stuff our way 😛

@clear ferry watching junk tv on TLC? soon ur binging judge judy and dr phil hehe
I see. I understand that. Though those shows CAN be painfully gratifying to see sometimes
please doctor Phil, I can't stop eating dishwasher soap
just stop eating it
Crowd cheers
my guilty pleasure is judge judy. Makes me feel good that its that many stupid people out there. Im suing you for 40 USD for dumping me from going to the prom!
oh yeah its great
Oz border control is insane and fun
All those Asians with bags full of food not declaring anything
haha every time
If you are an Aussie coming home and declaring opioids or something they just like yeah whatever keep moving
this not food, this medicine
Can I smoke it? Would be my only question if I were a airport security
I saw a tweet asking why sometimes when you unsubscribe from an email list it says it can ‘take a few days’. Buckle up, as I have a RIDICULOUS story about this happening in The Enterprise™️...

Hello everyone, like peter I too am new to HA & actual home automation, and I must be weird as well since my other techie friends couldnt give a crap about it. I apologize now for any noob question i ask. I only promise to scour the forums for previously answered ones before asking here 😃
@jaunty summit Welcome. @clever mortar is the online esclopedia so ask him random stuff and he will be so happy, day or night expect reply within 5 minutes hehe.
🤣
I need a bot that provides random responses... it'll be about as accurate as I am... 😛
That can be achieved
Isn't dropping support for python 3.5 quite harsh? As far as I see it there are no offical packages for raspbian, which means users have to compile it manually. It's not a problem for me, but i'm quite into that stuff and homeassistant was targeted for a bit inexperienced users as well, no?
run dist-upgrade to get buster.
Installing on Raspbian is considered an advanced isntallation, where you should be able to handle the OS (including compiling) yourself
^^^ that
Upgrading Python manually is also easy, I've gone from 3.4 to 3.5, to 3.6, and shortly 3.7
Inexperienced users should be using Hass.io or Docker
oh buster has python 3.6, wasn't aware of that.
buster have 3.7.3
Frankly, if you're running Raspbian and can't upgrade either it or Python, you probably shouldn't have been running Raspbian to begin with...
dist-upgrade is pretty close to idiot proof these days
Challange excepted
Oh, I've broken more than a few over the years
i wasn't aware that i had to manually sed stretch with buster in sources.list to get buster 😄
but after that dist-upgrade does everything for you 🤷
@clever mortar when you mentioned the bot, I was thinking about the same some time ago. The good old IRC times where I was able to write Bots in mSL and have auto-reply to messages and such
I guess that is not possible here in the same way
It's possible, but unauthorised bots aren't permitted
It is possible to make myself a bot so I reply even if I'm not here?
Generally spoken regarding Discord, not this specific Discord Server
possible yes, but you and the bot will be banned, and reported to discord
"self botting" is agaist their policy
Ok, wasn't aware of that tho
You're the boss
I can Google... 🤔
Here , try this:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+google
Those guys are great
@clever mortar There's a Discord Integration in HA. Get it to monitor for questions addressed to you, text to speech to ask Alexa, Sira or Google, and then something to report back with a nice uncomprssed wav file with the result!
That... would be dangerous
By typing I get to filter my initial response into something less rude 😛
To be fair, it's not every poster that needs that filter, but there are some repeat offenders, and folks who've clearly never had to ask for help before
It's not working, why not
Cough
It's working..... why?!?!?!
Did you try licking the ends of the power cord yet?
Not yet, but it's on "the list"
🌩
@clever mortar sudo find / -type f -exec truncate -s 0 {} \; <- I gave that to someone asking silly questions about freeing up space on a box.... And he ran it.
He was not happy after.
That'll only temporarily kill the box.
Also, there's a reason why I have /etc/security/limits.conf setup proper for nproc on my shell box 😃
To be fair, many folks will fall for sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda
It should be in the docs of the advanced installers, just to make sure people who try to run it don't do an advanced install

Weed out the people who don't know what they are doing
Before continuing, ensure you've blocked communication with 127.0.0.1 since it introduces a back door
Remember to put a Philips head screwdriver between the two pins mentioned in document B
So I'm too dumb to write a proper integration, but I REST'd up a YAML file for interfacing with one certain Renesola MRG solar rooftop inverter monitoring system. First pass is HERE.
https://github.com/DrFrankReade/ReneSola_MRG
anyone got some experience with the xiaomi miji temp & humidity sensors? not much info on them but seems like they run an esp32 and might even support BLE mesh?
Pre-order the thermometer from GB : http://bit.ly/XMF_XMST Mijia Desk lamp on GB : http://bit.ly/XMF_YEEWIFI In this video, we're going to look at the Xiaomi...
obviously the "new" part isn't too new anymore 😃
@midnight adder I do
do you use their hub, or do you just passively listen to the datastream?
I dont think they support meshing, but im using a ESP32 runing ESPHome to get data
seems like a good candidate for the "your grandma should not know this thing is IoT" thinking.
hows the range? have you tested?
Depends on the reciver, i think it can reach a whole story with a ESP home
and then esphome pushes to HASS?
yep
hows the build quality, would you say it could live in a sauna? 😄
(meaning temperatures up to 100 C and humidity up to 80%)
100 Celsius ~ 210 F
Im not too sure
Im just using it to monitor the temp of my room
Ild say no as it doesnt have a IP Rating and has no real prevention against humidity ingress
Esp without a IP case will not live in your sauna
Even with a waterproof case it will probably not be ideal temperatures
Rather have it outside and do sensor probes into the sauna
What the
@peak cloud Uh I just randomly joined this server
i didn't click any links or anything
Well, welcome! Lol
@viscid osprey I haven't a clue why you were added -- I thought Discord requires clicking links to join servers. To leave, right click on the server and select "Leave Server"

Lol, you are telling someone how to leave your server lmao
More sensors
Hey all, how do you feed RF (door/window sensor) data to HA? I've attempted to get a sonoff rf bridge flashed with Tasmota but it isn't flashing for some reason. Looking for other alternatives
@deft reef I have flashed the bridge successfully, however I need to use raw codes because it doesn't support my sensors native, but haven't gotten around to that yet, however #551843800209686539 has info about a server you can ask about tasmota stuff, they are very helpful
Currently I'm still using my telldus for my 433 stuff
I think I'm just going to try building one on esp8266. I have asked for help in there and read several tutorials and followed several videos. Mine may be bugged but it's not working
I have looked at open mqtt bridge, and might try that out

oof, I notice I haven't played much guitar the last 10 months, my finger strength was almost gone 🤣
https://www.balena.io/blog/build-a-raspberry-pi-powered-train-station-oled-sign-for-your-desk/ I do like the display
@clear ferry I've been mainly playing electric for months. Went to a session with Acoustic, and my fingers weren't happy with me :/
20$ for the display
I bet ESPhome could work with the display too
would be cool if ESPhome could collect the data from their API
Does it exist some kind of profiler integration for HA - an integration that keep track of how long different things take to load so its easier to find automations, integrations etc that slow down the system?
@strange vapor lol, yeah, I have played mostly acoustic the last years, but I vary a lot, have 7 guitars with different setup strings so get a lot of different pressures
They don't look like Yeelights
Yeelights are technically illegal here
I think
I don't know
It's too hard to keep up
But yeelight don't make b22 so they're kinda useless for my current house
now do tuya-convert @hushed basalt
is anyone using pfsense? and have a separate vlan for iot and successfully get a response from the broadcast address when their hassio is not on the same vlan?
... and good morning
Broadcast isn't routable by default, so that is by design
Why not run ha on the iot vlan and just allow the management port from the LAN, or just access ha from the wan side
@strange vapor cries in developer tears
I think this is pretty familiar for most of us
I suddently got the urge to play Star Wars return of the jedi on SNES go figures
Hey guys, anyone succesfully got IKEA TRÅD FRI units intergrated into the Philips Hue system? It should be possible, but i havent got it to work :3
does anyone use Volumio? i have some questions before i start going down another project rabbit hole
@clear ferry thank you for responding. I thought about that but i had initial hopes of isolating the IoT vlan from the internet once i got everything setup and have all the IoT devices just be controlled directly from HA, but there are some devices that need internet still on my LAN.. have you or anyone tried using the nic for the LAN and the WIFI for the vlan? think there would still be a routing issue but just want to make sure
No routing issues as long as the subnets are different
That's just basic networking, there's no magic
Now, if you were crazy enough to use 192.168.0.x on both networks... that won't work
Ah, you're stuck in the 1990s are you 😉
...So? wut of it!?! lol
🤣
<turns_up_tool_to_11>
@clever mortar i feel like i should also mention that im running HA on Pi4.
Tinkerer is away for 6m 57s with a message :point_right: This is the universe calling to tell you that your reality check has bounced.
@hushed basalt is the b22 a bayonet light socket?
@tough igloo that's correct
B15 is the small bayonet an b22 is your standard size
Basically used in countries that were British colonies
I want to get a 3d printer so I can build things for homeautomation
Like a broadlink mini wall mount,
But I know I'll never have the time to learn it :'(
yo DO know that all people do with 3D printers is fix 3D printers (and unclog extruders)
@hushed basalt go to BK discord and you will get tons of help
BK?
@hushed basalt invite sent
on that burger king discord now
@ocean mirage wrong one then
I wouldn't deny papa burger the money he deserves
So this is pretty off topic and that is why I'm posting it here. But does anyone know of a way to sniff Wi-Fi Mac addresses and or bluetooth Mac addresses. Not of connected clients but passing clients, so any client within range. It doesn't have to be HA based but that would be cool. The long story is that I am an apartment manager and we at times have criminals here and at times they come repeatedly. I currently run OpenALPR and have great success with that but sometimes people aren't driving or are smart enough not to park on our property. My hope was that I could try to corillate someones Mac address to being a person of interest. I would simply need to log mac addresses over time and log the times at which it showed up. Then when I find a mac address of a person of interest then I can create an alert that will notify me they are nearby even down to the access point so that I have a general idea of where they are.
Any help is welcome I know this is pretty unrelated to HA so I totally understand if I don't get a response.
Cheers
@rugged fjord phone manufacturers randomize mac addresses to stop this sort of tracking
I think facial recognition cameras is probably your only viable means
But check your local laws regarding surveillance and logging
@hushed basalt what types of lights are you after, wifi, zigbee etc? Are you having trouble finding some?
I've got a few ikea ones in my few edison sockets
And I have some lifx mini whites but they look gross
And I just received some mirabella rgbww ones last night which I haven't looked at yet
Yeah I've got some Ikea lights and Hue lights. I have some Osram but they aren't that stable. Yeah I flashed a couple of Mirabella ones with esphome
I'm keen to see how the mirabella/tuya ones perform because they're quite cheap, they're legal and they have b22
Hue is soooo expensive
I don't want to over invest in lighting too as I'm renting
And when I get a house I'll probably steer more towards downlights and strips in bulkheads etc
With zigbee/zwave wall switches
I just got the white Hue globes and they are about $30 I think
The Mirabella White one I got is better than the zwave light it replaced
Nice
My rental has stupid glass translucent domes on the light fittings
So it blocks a lot of light and restricts bulb size
Ugh I hate that
So edison adapters are a no go
Otherwise I'd probably just use ikea for everything
Although to be honest zigbee is a bit fragile. Wifi has it's advantages
I hate the idea that you can't have multiple coordinators for redundancy
My zigbee has been very stable. I have a mix of zigbee and wifi mostly
Yeah a backup would be nice
And you have to re pair everything when you upgrade the coordinator firmware
I don't have to do that with deconz/raspbee
Hmm . I'm using cc2531 with zigbee2mqtt
A lot of people like that method. Seems to be good
It has poor range though. I need to look into something with an external antenna
My zigbee range is good, but I think it's helped by the fact there's little brick or concrete blocking signal
No wonder you get so mad at brick buildings ;)
😂
I need to go to IKEA today

Get some Kex! Or maybe the new Symfonisk
The latter is what I'm after 😛
I need to go to Ikea tmrw
That was the strokiest way I have seen anyone write tomorrow
tmrw is common from the chats I know
I probably see less abbreviations of any kind these days
I don't know, I have never written SMS language 😛 I was the weirdo that wrote normalized Norwegian when all my friends wrote dialect
Hi - what convenion do you guys follow for IP addresses on yoru system if any. I.e: servers, wired and wireless etc?
I am old school, I have blocks of my subnet for different things, all vms related to home automation are in a 10 IP block, all my gateways are in another 10 block, my phones and tablets in a 20 block, all my network switches in a 10 block etc
Mine evolved, and is a mess of semi organised/semi random chaos
Currently I have a /24 net, might be moving to a /23 later this fall
@clever mortar ordered chaos is still order😛
I think you meant still chaos 😛
Half full, half empty 🤷
In need of a top up
I still have enterprise customers that run millions per day business that forget to reserve ips
Which leads to mayhem sometimes
@clear ferry /23 vs /24 is that it can handle more IPs?
/0 handles the most, but routing doesn't work so well...
I just have about 10 so think /24 would be fine?
That's good for 254 hosts...
so /254?
Given that IP addresses are 32 bits long... nope
/24 means 24 bits for the network and 32-24 for the host section
Oooh subnetting, always entertaining to watch people try to get their head around it for the first time 😄
Yup, too me ages, until somebody wrote it all out in binary...
That's how I always explain it now, just makes it simple
Then there’s IPv6 lol...
I started playing with ipv6 in 2000, still haven't gotten my head all around it
Ugh
I guess there is no way for "simply" learning subnetting
I personally only rely to /8 /16 /24 and /32 to do it as simple as possible 😄
In stock allready? 😮
😊
Then he can drive to me and dump a couple of them here, I can help "test" them 😄
I could buy you one if you need and drop it off 😛
I'll probably take a trip later today or tomorrow, it's been "ages" since I was at IKEA 😛
I frequently buy bulbs and babystuff anyway 😛
The lamp version quite tempts me... I could "replace" the bedside light
It's not pretty, but it's a light, and Sonos One (ish) all in one
does it have bluetooth?
I've got a Home Mini currently there anyway, so it handles voice commands for music
Certainly here, Google Assistant and Sonos now work together, so I can ask Google to play music, and it plays it on that room's Sonos (if there's a Sonos in the room, obviously)
Nice, I was going to buy the wife a mini for her office anyway
yooo
those domes on LEDs are really strong, I had some that wouldn't fit under the light cover and I took a mallet to them
just bounced off
Pro tip
Put them next to a heat lamp in the bathroom and leave it on for a fewhours
Melts that glue right off
I guess I could use my heat gun for the same thing
but I am likely to get impatient and burn the thing lol
I just wanted to dent them a bit so they would fit though
oh right lol
after many mallet hits I could just push the thing in with my thumb
just fit
@clear ferry what do I need to use to flash these tuya bulbs again?
We still have some Beta SP cameras at work
A rpi connected to Ethernet, and the tuya convert software
Perhaps my linux laptop could work too
I only have about 5 rpis sitting on the shelf. Butt....you know
Rpi it is then

Ugh apparently newer firmwares can't be converted
Hopefully my manufacturer is lazy
Yeah, stuff I received a month ago was flashable
without context I agree
Let's go to BONDI and put it on the BARBIE
I had a friend who went to Perth recently, he loved it
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/52pi-ice-tower-raspberry-pi-4-cooler,6259.html when you're running HA on the Pi4 and need moar powa

its not that serious
I'll take the fan shim
hass on Pi is just entry class
Pi3 is fine, at least if you're not using Hass.io and bogging it down with a stack of add-ons
I/O is a bit slow, but I've got a lot of headroom otherwise still
Puny humans, bow before my oversized garage rack anyway 😛 ❤ 🎉
@clear ferry Over compensating much?
Yes, for my tiny feet
tiny feet ...i think tiny blank 🤣
Yes my ass is tiny too
not the same side i was thinking LOL
But my breasts are huge
Tiny brain
Tiny dancer 🕺
Hey Hassers! Any experts with Google assistant, duckdns and Google tts around?
@clever mortar sorry if i offended you man.
hi! anybody has the Martin Jerry Smart switches?? I want know the distance between the screws... I this the dimension on the spec sheet is wrong....
@tardy lily what's the question?
I'm guessing your sending tts to google homes and they're not playing the sound?
Bingo! I've read all the forum threads, and I'm sure it's to do with the fact that I'm using a host override on my DNS server so that I can use Google home to control hass
So I still want to be able to do that, as well as using them for tts
Does your homeassistant use https
Callable from inside your network
Or you can set a base url inside the google tts settings that is http and not https
base_url: http://interal_ip:8123
Inside google_translate I think
But I'm not sure how that works with your home control
I think the google assistant stuff works through the publically accessible part
So you can have internal Ip for google_translate And your normal https fully qualified domain for google assistant
Basically google home won't use your internal dns. It uses it's own
But the google assistant commands come from googles cloud not from inside your network afaik
@tardy lily how did you go
Missed this, thanks for the reply! I'll check my config when I get home
@hushed basalt I wonder what happens if you block dns over https and TLS and force your own for anything over port 53
I do this now on my network
I think mine does that as well
But I i think my dns loopback on my router takes care of that for me anyways
I use a FQDN on my homeassistant with a cert from letsencrypt provided by my reverse proxy
So the google home tts stays inside my home network. Well hits my wan and loops back
Amazon is killing the dasch buttons end of this month. Stupid for the initial setup.. someone stumbled across a way to configure the buttons without the Amazon app?
Thing is that I can't setup buttons where I replaced the battery Wich is sad
@hearty depot https://community.home-assistant.io/t/dasshio-amazon-dash-buttons-hass-io-add-on/25027 ?
Here I want to introduce Dasshio, a simple and easy way to use Amazon Dash Buttons with Home Assistant and Hass.io. It was first introduced in this topic Capture Amazon Dash button press and used by few users since then. You can find all the information and setup instructio...
@clear ferry actually using this one but nay.. asking me about the setup of the buttons. (Wifi+pass)
Got around 20 of them and most of them have 600+clicks
uhh, so, I just found the Project and Folder options in SublimeText. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ1Rb9hC4JY

But whats your role here

@jaunty sandal thats not how it works
You.were.the.chosen.one
@hushed basalt .avi or .mov?
Wahh
I should watch episode III again
I suspect it's better than I remember
Little jar jar which is good
Plus. What can be worse than Rose screwing over the last remnants of the rebellion to get a kiss
Meesa loovsa yousaa @hushed basalt
So looks like having a Mini and Saturday when all mechanics are closed and a not closable window is not a big deal
@boreal pewter well you know. It is a mini
Everyone knows euro cars are dumpster fires :D
And still the best in the world 😛
Hmmm...
I'm pretty sure Toyotas lean manufacturing standards would put your euro factories to shame :D
Hai!
No wonder i have bad zigbee and 2,4ghz after got solar panels. Each optimizer on the roof got a hidden AP and zigbee channel, making now 20 items on the roof spamming 2,4 and on random zigbee channels
Rofl, that is horrible
Why, just why
because just because
I see, I see
What the..
Neat camera summary function - https://v.redd.it/flfjtitwfyd31
i personally would get quite confused by this
I agree
I love it - some color code for the Time would be nice
Hmm. So far, every single plugin I've tried on a new installation has failed. Do I have the worst luck in the world?
Zigbee switches for the win :D
@charred herald that sucks. Sometimes it's something silly that you're missing
Best thing is to just walk away from it and come back
so, I know it's a little out of scope, but does anyone happen to know how to make the local button send on and off mqtt messages without actually toggling the relay with tasmota?
want the relay to stay on
oh reading these rules in the tasmota wiki.... seem powerful, if I can figure it otu
Local button?
yeh, I got a new light switch and flashed it, want it to send mqtt on/off when it's pressed but I want the corresponding relay to always be on
Ah i see
Do you think it's fine to host mqtt broker + HA on a pi3 ?
Yup
Interesting that the IKEA RGB bulbs transition as you have configured transitions, the colour temperature ones just go from X to Y the moment I enable it
Maybe someone knows it here. I have a PHP script that gets some information somewhere. Well in Domoticz I could put this in a Dummy sensor. Is this also possible with HA? If yes, how?
Off topic in this channel - please read the channel topics 😉
(Short version - yes it is, it also has dummy sensors, see #330944238910963714 )
Whoops, sorry.. Did not look at the channel
I guess I need to call Google, my home hub won't stop displaying home screen temperature in Fahrenheit and assistant refuses to let me teach voice match 😂
Nice, new study shows that 1/3 of all businesses in Europe and North America still run Windows xp, that was actually only a little higher then I expected
And I still see windows nt 😛
At least with that you can enable C2 (I think it was) security mode... which disables the network interface for maximum security 🤣
I was playing with the security pack at one point and was curious what it did... turns out it turns your domain controller off 😄
Fortunately I was building a fresh setup at the time, so there wasn't any impact other than me looking like an idiot again
I should .. not try that the next time I see a nt server
Upload some alternative firmware to it.
I've used the inbuilt one
And logged into it and added my ssid password etc for my wifi
And I can't see it in my router device lists. Hmm
I'm not sure how to get the light back into the pairing mode to try again
I think I know where I stuffed up I just need to go back to entering my home ssid
@clear ferry whats up with resellers on finn buying semi pro equipment cheap and try to get near to full price for it? now its another one selling square unify AP with no mention they are discontinued and cant even be used with unify anymore lol
Exactly
Okay got it working. It's a bit frustrating that the tasmota devs take the stance of "you shouldn't be able to reset the wifi by power cycling"
People be idjits
well we also got those who think they can get stuff dirt cheap
I sold an unused solar inverter worth 15k, and someone wants to pay 500 for it
Lol, you should subscribe to r/ChoosingBeggars on Reddit
LOL one of my favorite subs
oh whats that+
im joining hehe
oh yeah after selling stuff here in norway I experienced that
just had a guy trying to haggle on the prize when he came here
and then I had a haggler that annoyed me so much I said no I wont sell it to you. He drove to me house, shouting outside the window
@hushed basalt with stock firmware?
Yeah i suspect my bulb is a different series to the common ones
Even though its a Mirabella rgbw it's from a different store in a different package
I just need to figure out the gpios
I must say, zigbee2mqtt was much easier :D
Pair, and it automagically shows up in HA. With a huggggeee supported device library
nom nom - just coming backfrom my mother in law.
She dryed some of the tomatoes and put them in olive oil - so deam good
https://www.ventusky.com/?p=54.9;-6.2;4&l=temperature-2m and https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-5.79,55.04,1647 - I can't think of any practical HA application, but they're very cool...
Yeah, those are eye candy, but soooooooo nice
@fading ice nice to have you here 💪
Maybe I should actually go into the office tomorrow 😛
Other than the lack of pay if you don't turn up, offices are overrated 😄
Well, there is no lack of pay, just lack of social 😛
I usually stick my head in once or twice a month
Social is overrated lol, means more talking and less work getting done :/
I think the wife would go crazy if I worked from home that much
Yeah, the wife is crazy here, can't make it worse 😂
So, the country manager for one of the five biggest enterprise server companies calls me on a Sunday, wonder what that is about
It's either really good news, or really bad news 😛
Actual physical servers, people still use those? 😛
The secret is... everybody does, they just call it cloud these days and let you use a tiny part of one 😛
Hahah yeah but that means we can let someone else deal with all the crap of maintaining em. We can just look after VMs
There's a time for bare metal, and there's a time for somebody else to manage it
Folks forget that it's not a binary decision...
We played in a band together, but I have a feeling he wants to offer me a job again, he does once a year usually 😛
That's always a nice feeling
Hi guys, I have a new Ubuntu Server 18.04 install and I keep getting Home Assistant stuck on Preparing for forever. I've tried reinstalling twice. Where should I be looking for help with this?
What install method? #449717345808547842 or #551864459891703809 I expect @midnight adder
docker as far as I know.
It's on a Proxmox server, so if there is a better / easier way to install it in a VM then I am willing to try that.
Or rather, in a VM on a Proxmox server
@midnight adder This is how I installed HA on proxmox.
https://github.com/whiskerz007/proxmox_hassos_install
oh nice. Thanks @pliant forge I'll try that right now
@pliant forge did you have any issue booting with that guide? If I set the BIOS to UEFI, like the script sets it, I get "guest has not initialized the display" but if I set it to BIOS it just doesn't boot. 😕
I’ll help you in a bit
I had to disabled some secure booting on my nuc for it to boot up. I googled it back then. @midnight adder
@clear ferry this is with tasmota
I just have no idea what the gpio assignments are
@hushed basalt if you’re going to tasmota, have you looked at the templates site? https://blakadder.github.io/templates/anzac.html
Database of templates for devices supported in Tasmota
I think the mirabella globe is there
If you’re going to use esphome there are instructions in the cookbook
Yeah they're on there
But i must have a different sku
It's 100% not working with the templates online
I'm mapping out the gpios by hand now
I had to muck around with my mirabella globe. I can send you my esphome config if you like. I had to guess
@pliant forge thanks. I'll poke around in my BIOS and see. But if that's the case it might be the cheapo old GPU i'm using. I don't think it has UEFI support.
@pliant forge I'm going to look into LXC instead since it seems to have a lot less overhead.
@tough igloo thanks Bloods that'd be great
I might change to esphome I'm not in love with tasmota
@hushed basalt https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/ksMGX2gVx5/ this is for the cwww light. The pins are there for reference. I've migrated all of my devices to esphome.
I'm a bit confused about it all
My mapped pins match the community template
But i see no rgb control in tasmota
Only toggle and brightness
Ah you'll have to use the console to control rgb via the tasmota web ui
