ohh so it'S tuya under the hood
cool! alright i'm try them. i was going for the lohnsonho but damn those are thick
i'll do the same. looking at my apartment, i've got places where i need them to be as small as possible but in others the lohn..the fat ones, are great
Just follow the tuya convert wiki
well, thanks! guess i'll disturb you when it's flashing time ๐ or maybe not. it depends
And add the right template, and calibrate
And boom nice
Guess I have to open up the one that died
But it has a screw, it isn't glued
So should be feasible
i hope it that for you. i did read the wiki and it looks not that simple to open them
@clear ferry They're baby plugs! One of the few good things the Irish got from the British were the proper manly three pin plugs ๐
Big as a fist, very practical ๐
13A of 240V goodness ๐
Can you even travel to the lodge space through those? https://i1.wp.com/78.media.tumblr.com/151b814b2c6482df4cc969a67755e9e8/tumblr_inline_oy4q8pY9221qi2cac_1280.gif
Nisuoc Ym Si Siht
So i bought both the lohnsonho and the super thin one! see you in a month ๐

Just upgraded to 96.1. All OK except why the 20 space gap in the sidebar between 'Hassio' and 'Developer Tools'??
I am not running docker so it makes something a little harder has anyone seen a guide for adding ESPHome tot he intergrations manually?
Well... that's a little off topic in this channel ๐
oh ..
Sorry you are right I didn't ..
It's ok, you're hardly alone there
here is the link: https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/installation/raspberry-pi/
Ok, venv install, we can help you over in #551864459891703809
got it ... thank you for being kind much appreciated
hehe.. I dont have to name a file .sh to run it .yaml works fine too I guess
somebody meight know If I even can move dockers from one host to another?
Isn't that like... the point of docker?
I dont have guesed so ๐คฃ
I thourght the point was that it is easy deployable
just guessing that I can packup my docker-compose file and the folder i got the data stored in
Well I do have a friend who could probably answer that question
I think you might know them
Here , try this:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=moving+docker+container+to+another+host
Have forced TV, BluRay and some other media devices to always go via a Squid Proxy. Most common hit, by far? http://connectivitycheck.gstatic.com/generate_204
More actual traffic done to the likes of Netflix and Youtube for obvious reasons, but I can be pretty sure I always have connectivity to gstatic.com ๐
hmm.. wish I could use mini graph card as a badge in lovelace
@hearty depot what's the docker question
if I can move them to a different machine - tar'd the opt for and copyed the yaml - not a tragic when it won't work. But still curios
Linux-Server.io Dockerfiles btw.
Just to lazy to set up mariadb and nextcloud again
backup config + persistant storage, move that to new host, install docker, setup containers on new host (compose or docker run) then ๐ฅ the old host.
tip: we do have a #449717345808547842 channel here ๐
Where just in the process of backing up the files and dropped the question. Only don't know what is ment with back up congig.. oh probably also the persistent storage!
Compose is such a neat thing
.away zZzzZzz deam so late here
Underknowledge is away! zZzzZzz deam so late here
Config congig would be your compose file
Are your volumes mounted
Config is usually the data volume
Most lsio containers have it in /data in the container
So I create a bunch of backup folders on on an external hard drive of my stretch install. Install buster, go to the external hard drive and I can see everything but the folders I need. What am I doing wrong?
When I go back to my stretch SD card, all the folders are there.
@fluid ocean sprinkers are AC so you can't get the wires backwards.
Hey guys, anyone familiar with how to hookup a sprinkler?
but i think you should be more specific
heheh ...so there is probbably a common wire
the first two look like the're from the AC adapter
so i'm guessing that powers the timer
3rd one has two wires going to it, a red and dirty grey
the other 8 probably go to solonodies (1 wire to 1 solonoid)
the other solonod wire probably goes to the AC and they all tie together with a wire-nut.
oh yea.
maybe there are two solonodes on that zone?
got a volt meter?
Yep!
turn it on AC and go to town ๐
hehe
i'd try to the first two
then a combination of one of the first two and 3-10
that would be my guess
turn the dial?
oh, if you want to turn one on manually...
just connect the sonolnoid straight to power
i'm guessing 1,2 are the transformer?
yes exactly
yea. connect the sonolnoid to 1,2. the water should start flowing
the 3-10 terminal are basically switches
3-10 probably switch one of the 1,2 terminals.
i'm guessing 2 since its next to 3-10
so if you put a sonolnod on 1,4 and zone 4 is on, the water should flow.
all a guess of course
no...
2 wires on term 3 proably means 2 solonoids.
you should have 2 wires for each solonoid. there are probably more wires somewhere with a wire-nut.
i would try taking #9 and connecting it to 1 or 2
that sounds like a plan
Thanks man
i have homeassistant running in a docker
cant figure out how to add a addon
hassio?
yea. thats not hassio which is why you don't see addons
hassio is rpi i guess
im almost done with my thermostats
you can install addons without hassio, its just way harder because there isn't a gui doing it for you. you have to do addons all manually without it.
any docs on it?
those are most all the ways you can install home assistant
which is why its so confusing. it sounds like you did column #4
then you probably want a VM with hassio
with 16GB, etc
16GB is monster? I guess it's all relative ๐
true.
hehe
Not even a baby monster, but in relative terms to my Pi collection
and NUC, and nVidia Jetson, and Atomic Pi...
anyhow. just need to know what files to modify to add the repos
thats it
im after heaty
to have nice schedules
Umm. you need more than repos. you need hassio. https://esphome.io/_images/hassio_repo.png
hmm
time for a VM I guess
let me try this...
Hey does anyone know if an ultrasonic distance sensor will disturb my cat
considering they can hear it (i think)
#diy-archived may have folks with both ultrasonic sensors and cats
There are easier ways to disturb your cat
Cats are naturally disturbed...
Ultrasonic cat?
Haha, well i made a automatic catfeeder ( will post on the forum later) and I wanted to measure the pellets in the container and i thought ultrasonic distance sensor would work for checking the level
Also yes, but it is his birthday today so no bully the cat
Ugh has anyone lately moved from Android to iPhone and a guide for me?
Its been a little while, but the only real thing I did was transfer contacts
what are you having trouble with
I actually just want everything that is possible as lazy as possible ๐
Guess that train has gone since I can't use the initial "Transfer from Android" option
What exactly do you need to get from your iPhone?
I even struggle with WhatsApp right now and that's just the first thing
play the a n g e r y birds
Im a former apple sheep and i can tell you its fairly hard. Most stuff you can get is your owned music, contacts, photos, and if you wanna pay 5$ for a 3rd party program to transfer whatsapp data
ANd if you're lucky some of your apps back up to an iCloud independent storage
That's stupid
Oh I see what you are trying to do
Thats apple
I never really bothered trying to move app data over, but also I've never used WhatsApp so I am not really sure whats on it
Well, lucky me is selling all my data to cloud services like google photos etc.
But apple doesnt make it easy to leave their garden
but quite easy to move over into to theirs
Yeah I remember last time I wen't to Android from iPhone it was a pain to get the contacts off the phone
when I wen't back to iPhone it was easy
not really, as theyre mostly synced up to icloud anyway, and if not, iTunes is there
Yeah I think I had to use icloud or something
the hardest part is whatsapp and app data.
Which I hadn't set up previously
an iPhone without iCloud wut
Never considered a need for it
i personally think its worth it alone for the find my iphone
As it renders your phone useless to thieves once you lock it
Is that on by default?
if you set up icloud it should ask you for it, if not then its enabled by default
I can't remember but I should check that
let me check if its enabled on my 6S (which ive set up yesterday to set up homekit for my mother)
Yup enabled by default
Guess I have it then, so I'd just use icloud webpage to do its thing?
yup, using icloud.com you can lock an iphone
cool, thanks for the info
and its funny that you mention itunes too, cause I don't have that installed anymore either lol
In the age of Spotify barely anyone does
Thats why iTunes (atleast for mac users) doesnt exist anymore
I do like some things about Spotify but it doesnโt have everything and I like browsing my own music
I have been using plex
Yeah you wont fit a streaming service that has everything someone needs
For sure
spotify is keeping me only due to their SPotify Connect feature which (for some reason) no one has copied
I did have Spotify premium in addition though, for a while. I like the random playlists and daily mixes and stuff
Spotify connect?
Ye, where you can select different playsources
For example when im on my pc, i can control my phone's spotify
or on my alexa
and vice versa
Oh yeah that works well
It's annoying to integrate though
I tried switching to Deezer, GPlay, Youtube Music (god YT Music is awful) and none offer that and i really value that feature
I'm not sure if it's to prevent DRM
I got my Pi as a Spotify Connect receiver so I'm happy
I could never get it to work if either device was on ethernet
Works flawlessly for me
It's hard coded to only work on the same SSID afaik
Well I needed to add my credidentals
I believe deezer offers lossless free, thatโs probably one reason itโs so popular to pirate from
I've done all the credential stuff etc
Lossless music is awesome on my V30 with its Quad DAC
Are you using hassio or something independent?
But it won't show up on my ethernet computer unless I access it on my phone first
Hm thats weird
Yeah it's on purpose
if its on purpose I'd have the same Issue wouldn't I?
Is your computer on ethernet only?
any experience locating script kiddies who spam deauth on the 2,4ghz band?
You could trace them
tip how to disable the laptop screen an a fresh debian 10 install?
As long as they stay on the call for 60 seconds
But if they're behind 7 proxies it's harder
@late gate this is what you need though
@hearty depot https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/399739/disable-laptop-screen-and-use-only-vga

@clear ferry Seed /dev/random from /dev/null and you'll be gtand!

I love it !
Anyone here who got experience with using a different router than the one your provider gave you?
I got a IGW3000, but I also have a ASUS RT-AC66U, with way more features.
Yes
I know there is something called bridge mode, but seems like everyone on the internet, says that your provider have to set that up for you. However why is that?
No they don't
If your router supports it, bridge mode turns your router into a modem, so you can connect a router behind it
What if it don't or at least you can't find any settings that seems to do the trick. What would my next step be?
Depends, with some ISPs you can just replace it with another
Hmm I guess I have to wait for monday to ask them then
I don't see the option to change the mode
Google will likely tell you
A quick Google suggests it doesn't have bridge mode
Well thank you then, I'll contact them on monday then ๐
Admin/ mod am i permitted to post my minecraft server here?
aw thats a bit hurtful but rules are rules!
Hi guys, is anyone in the mood to help a noob wrestling with NFS please? Original problem over many weeks lead to doing a complete rebuild (raspbian lite python venv) a couple of days ago... since then got hass running but cannot put my configuration.yaml or automations etc developed over the last few years onto the pi because I couldn't get samba to show on windows. After 2 days of fighting with that this morning I went with recommend to use NFS - I have followed all instructions but am missing something simple: '''

'''
So close with those quotes
To format your text as code, enter three backticks on the first line, press Enter for a new line, paste your code, press Enter again for another new line, and lastly three more backticks. Here's an example:

sigh. tried to watch animated gif but I get secure connection failed.
pressing enter for new line... in magic edit function just seems to post again?
Then you're doing it wrong
so it can't be 'enter for a new line' per the instructions then...
3 back slashes?
Nah, that's just what I typed in there
sorry for being dim
will try and edit above to correct now ๐
๐
Samba though... should be trivial to work with on Windows, at least compared to NFS
had samba working with previous homeassistant install for a couple of years... so I agree. NFS was a move in frustration... need to get my automations up and running... plants dying etc.
scp allows you to copy those over too
If this is a new Pi though... why not install Hassbian?
thanks just reading up on scp
Don't use it all that much, but https://github.com/billziss-gh/sshfs-win is handy.
Allows you to "map" a drive to ssh
oh thats cool
same but i'd quite like the Explorer integration - if only so I can right click and 'open with vscode' ๐
ah thanks very much guys. Got the important files over with scp thanks @clever mortar and will have a look at these alternatives - thanks for the helping hand!
huh, turns out i had an old vaio in my basement and I guess i have a new small server
What's the general feeling on the sidebar? I can't stand how it opens when the mouse moves over there. I feel it should have open and close states but not auto move from closed to open
@dim ginkgo sidebar was just revised a few hours ago and is going to make it in 0.96.3, you can check the discussion in #devs_frontend-archived . But basically it's not going to expand on hover anymore and there will be an option under the profile page to hide it completely.
Oh, amazing. My exact wishlist ๐
@mild cloak thank God for that... someone actually finally listened!
Does anyone know of any b22 smart bulbs
That aren't Hue or Lifx $$$$$$$
Zigbee is fine, preferable infact
Tradfri
Pretty sure Osram do some too
Ah, damn it, they're all screw fit aren't they
Time to change the bulb holders ๐
Actually... Osram do have at least one https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B019LRQE02
Don't know if it's Zigbee though
Bayonet is a very UK centric thing sadly
Well, that's the UK's fault again ๐
Edison was a jerk though
Like the parts of the world that use our mains plug ๐
Edison cooked that elephant, pretty cool way to have fun
I do like screw bases though
I always felt like I would break the bulb getting it out of a jammed bayonet
Theyโre pretty tough at that angle but I know what you mean
LEDs solve that though since itโs just that plastic
I think I prefer bayonets but itโs all close enough
@hushed basalt Google gives me quite a few offbrand hits for b22 ZigBee
@ocean mirage screwed for life, I have never broken a bulb screwing it for 30 years
I stuck my finger in a bayonet when I was a kid
Light sockets are pretty dangerous when you think about it
Iโve never broken a bulb either lol
I used to test light switches with my fingers when I was younger
Started doing electric work around the house at age 12
Well it was your house by then
Pff, I moved out when I was 16, but I didn't own until I was 23 ๐
But most electrical work in all houses my parents have owned have been done by me ๐
I cut my fingertip and now I can't shred
Woohoo have my baby monitors showing up in homeassistant
Shame the camera has no inbuilt audio noise detection
@ocean mirage just do Tommi iommi
I'll have to remove more for that to work
but its the only instant solution
constant agony will do
I remember playing so much pink Floyd in 1998 that I actually bled from two fingers
Since 1998 I've never had the issue, gained thick skin
Yeah lol, David Gilmour has made me bleed too
but not two
pretty much all I played when I started lol
I still can't play comfortably numb after trying for 20 years
@hearty depot that's better ๐
from https://gitlab.com/ludeeus/pycfdns/blob/master/pycfdns/__init__.py to https://github.com/ludeeus/pycfdns/blob/master/pycfdns/__init__.py
First solo I could do okay when I practices it, the notes are the easy part
second one I could get the notes but getting it to feel right is a big task
The discord preview just plays a section of a guitar solo for the first song but it sounds cool
Is that the broadlink @hushed basalt ?
I need to figure it out, I have a temp sensor in the same room as it, so hopefully I can use that to regulate the temperature of the AC controlled by the broadlink when I set it up
I have no idea what to set as the domain though
In node red
@clear ferry there is a temperature sensor component but I'm not sure if it just shows up in the front end
My integrated ac shows both set and sensed temperature I believe, so should be able to do the same with a emulated climate device I guess
This oven. - https://i.imgur.com/ioLyoNJ.png
hass is a really unfortunate name when Germans come across it without knowing its a shorted version of home assistant
Given hass is the word I see used in place of home assistant a lot
Yup, that's been discussed before. Like the confusion of Hass*
Unfortunately, we're kinda stuck with this mess ๐
Yeah, just mentioning as I have a German I know not in the home assistant community who saw my retweet of a hass.io addon tweet and has pointed it out too
mhmm.. Someone having expirience if laptops are cool with coconut oil? ๐ค
wut
Wive had a bowl of it standing around... she spilled a little (much) over the keyboard ๐
might be a pain to clean up but I suppose it'll be fine
Good day everyone. Need big help with new version. HA was up and running for quite awhile on a PC, today had a big issue with the hard drive so I decided to make a new install on a Raspberry Pi.. got it up and running after fighting to get the IP address I wanted, installed some addons, dropped my old backup config in it and apparently there have been a lot of changes since 0.83.3. Firstly, I had to set up my old mqtt (built in one) with no password cause of a crappy device that couldn't use passwords now I'm completely lost with the new mosquitto settings
currently waiting on a restart but I have a feeling my config has broken things
You forgot to read the channel topic ๐
It sounds like you're running Hass.io, so I'd suggest you ask for add-on related help in #330990055533576204
And yes, 0.83 to 0.96... that's one hell of a jump. Hope you took the time to read all those release notes
sorry.. I noticed I put it in the wrong place.. kinda panicked - my ha ran everything.. alarm system, lighting, HVAC.. lol
No worries, #330990055533576204 can help you with add-ons, and if necessary downgrading to 0.83.3
New breach: The Xiaomi user forum had 7M email addresses breached in 2012. Many were on the bbs_ml_as_uid[.]xiaomi[.]com domain and were accompanied by usernames, IP addresses and salted MD5 password hashes. 7% were already in @haveibeenpwned. Read more: https://t.co/KTpM6...
@clear ferry the thing with normal air conditioners is the remperature you set on the remote doesn't control the device directly. It just sets the thermostat in a way
So there's no real way to override the air con by giving home assistant a temperature you measured yourself
Especially with inverter models
So like if the air con thinks it's 20 degrees, and you have it set to 22 but your own sensor reads 24, it doesn't really matter control wise
The air con will just go off it's own sensor
Dumb radiator thermostats are another matter though
Oh cool, I actually managed to help someone with a suggestion lol
Hey, Not quite sure where to ask this but is there any problem in using hassio professionally? I have some people who have asked me to install the automation for their house.
I was wondering if it was okay to do so or if it's a no go zone?
I'm not sure about the license use situations etc, but beware of stuff like that
More from a them holding you responsible for every problem sort of perspective
๐ค
Who is responsible for maintaining updates, hardware failures, integration tests, change of requirements half way through
I've been running hassio for almost 5-6 months pretty stable for most part
Ofc I will be if I do installations
But I have my custom device which I use at my home
If you don't have experience at a freelancer it's very easy to underappreciate how much time is involved in doing something professionally
Sonoffs didn't work for me
So I designed my own
Ahh
I see
I'll keep that in mind before I decide
Still want to know if it's okay or not tho
It's like when people 'make a website' for someone and they think it will take them 5 hours
And it ends up taking 20 and they don't know the client thinks they will get free support and won't have to pay for hosting etc
It's a mine field.
๐ ๐
Sounds like you have some experience
I'll be honest, I've never had any experience like that
Still finishing my undergrad
Thanks tho
Make it clear up front that you are changing an hourly rate for support and that the software itself is open source and free, though there are ongoing fees if using nabu-casa.
I've had a job since I was 9 years old, except for one year at university because there were no jobs available, that has taught me the value of my private time from an early age for sure
I was fucking dumb at 9 years old, good thing I didn't have a job
๐
I was a paper boy from 9 to 15
And I had a side business of repairing computers
Back when you needed to know what a jumper was
But then you became a real boy
I played Diablo 2, all day as much as possible and my mom went crazy
Diablo2 is the best of the series
I played a lot of #1 even online, but it wasn't half as good
I only played 1 a little when I was very young
too young/bad to get anywhere
Also I got my 2 x 10TB drives today
Waiting for my new Freenas server in the mail right now
What is it?
I looked at a lot of stuff, Supermicro 16-24 bay stuff, but none of them were complete with the latest backplane, so I ended up with a Dell R510 12 bay
I can just throw on some disk shelves later for more bays
cost me $130
yeah fair enough
with all parts included
good price
don't you have to do something hacky to get the raid controller to HBA mode with some of those dell servers?
nah, just a strip of tape and flash it
or IT mode, whatever its called
yeah, LSI firmware
oh okay cool
I remember someone talking about some sort of workaround for the dell servers that once done would pin the fans at 100% because it went to fault mode or something
I didn't pay full attention cause I dont plan to have one lol
@ocean mirage 6 https://techmattr.wordpress.com/2016/04/11/updated-sas-hba-crossflashing-or-flashing-to-it-mode-dell-perc-h200-and-h310/
Ah yeah, pretty close to how I flashed my lsi controller
I got a 10gbe nic for work last week
Haven't got any transceivers for it yet though
$30 off ebay dual port sfp+
which model ?
My motherboard has dual 10gbe but I got no use for it nor any 10gb networking equipment
SFP+ typically about 0.3 microseconds per link. 10GBASE-T latency is about 2.6 microseconds per link.
@ocean mirage your 10gbe is inadequate
Indeed.... it's no supermirco board but it was a good deal
meh, my meeting ended early, and I'm not going to look at a car for 3 hours, maybe I should look into the documenation for HA ๐คฃ
What car?
Found a cheap 2006 passat
some rust\bumps, but nothing serious, I just need to test drive it and read out the memory to see if there is anything I should worry about
@clear ferry Just got rid of a 2010 Passat Estate. Loved that car. Comfortable, and fun to drive.
I've only driven a passat once before, but it is in the price range I'm willing to spend for a daily driver
Had it for six years, and I can't remember any serious issues with it.
I've owned 2x subarus 1800s, 2x volvo 240s, 1x audi 100, 1x audi a3, 1x audi a6, 1x audia8l, 1x golf mk3 1x golf mk4 and 1x tiguan mk2 ๐คฃ
I prefer VAG though since I have the parts catalogue avaliable and I have diagnotics tools for it
I had a Ford Focus before the Passat which I gave to my mother, and that thing is still chugging along. Have a Volvo myself now.
ie, I have zero brand loyalty when it comes to cars! It's what's comfortable, reliable and within price point!
So it is.. what she said

I need to remember to steal a e27 lamp from work
"borrow"
@light trout believe it or not, I posted a question in #developers
huh ๐ฎ
So i can program my ikea bulbs without having to bring my server to the fixture
@hushed basalt LOL ๐คฃ
Don't mind me just dragging a live NAS around the house with a 100 foot power and ethernet cable
@clear ferry #devs_core-archived would probably be better ๐
I never had problems with zigbee on my pi, I could pair any zigbee bulb in the whole house without moving it
@light trout ๐ฆ
Hmm. Zigbee2mqtt says it should be super close
But who knows if they're lying to me
But have the original dev fix it, much easier ๐
I used zha, and my house is like... 25 meters longs with three floors
Can't trust anyone from the Northern Hemisphere
no issues ever
@light trout but he hasn't replied in 4 days! I am getting impatient ๐คฃ
last commit?
That's not to long ago
the samsung acs should be included in the core ๐คฃ
removing taht var will only help you past 1 import error.
There are probably a lot more to work around
yeah, I've tried to look at the docs, hence my question, if I remove the SUPPORT should I also remove the same named ATTR ๐คฃ
For anyone that loves prog, you should check out Transatlantic, unfortunately they aren't on Spotify though
@clear ferry you wanna have that car? I've been looking for months for a decent cheap car and now decided to raise the limit a bit and got something not too old tho
Just picked up a pair JBL Arena 170 speakers. Dude won them in a drawing so he figured he'd just make an easy sale for half the RRP, but he was using the American RRP lol
Other tower speaks I have been looking at sell for 3 times the USA price
@boreal pewter aye, I've looked at double of what this car goes for, still nothing very interesting
Yeah looking for cars can be annoying. Actually finding things that you want
Not the VW guy anyway, rather BMW and I've been looking at 2006-2008 BMW 523i, 525i, but all were in bad condition for prices up to 10kโฌ
Last week I bought a Mini then ๐
Which Mini?
Mini Cooper S Clubman 2018
Is the clubman the long one?
Yeah the 6 door one
Ah interesting, didn't know they made that in the S
Just a bit longer than the common S-5 door, overall just 4,25m tho
Is the S still supercharged?
And split doors in the back
It has 192PS, dunno if that counts "supercharged" ๐
It counts if it has a supercharger lol
Ah maybe I know it as Turboloader?
Yeah it looks like its a Turbochager, as we call it here, not a Supercharger
Yeah it has
they used to have superchargers though afaik
I think it is the model where some things changed due to german co2 and emission restrictions
But power and sound were still alright to drive daily 16km to work and back lol
I will get it on friday hopefully, but exactly the interior was what I was checking the most since I find most cars like Ford, Opel, VW and Mercedes far away from beautiful. So that is also why I bought the Mini and not a comparing X1
So I like what they did there, it's out of just "the standard"
Yeah I am not a fan of the look of the BMW X cars
and if I were spending that money on a big ugly SUV I'd get a volvo lol
XC90 ๐
Yeah something like that
But honestly the X1 and X2 are from the measurement not really big, but still feel very comfortable. While the Mini isn't huge at all I still feel very well in there with over 1,90m body size
X1 and X2 would cost me 55k new tho
And the X4 made the best feeling ๐
What did the Mini cost?
Just below 30kโฌ
Much better
I've never actually driven any of the X cars but I am not a fan
The bigger ones are just so bulky and most people have no reason to have that
My problem was that my girl didn't want to have combi, and the look of a bmw 5xx as limo is just standard. So I wanted to go the direction of "coupe-like" car and actually only the X's do have that kind of feeling. And I don't fit in the 1xx, they're too small
While the mini officially counts as a combi it still is rather a coupe IMO
This is 39000NOK
But it has too much rust, something says clunk in the forward axel when I turn and the webasto needs service
If I could get it for 20k, maybe
Oh yeah, not worth the hassle
Oh overhauling the axel with the parts I think and then ofc on both sides is like 200-300โฌ parts + the work here
Yeah you don't wanna touch that stuff if you can buy a different car though
Exactly
atxbyea's prices sounds so much ๐
I have no idea what its worth
Those type cars are cheaper in your continent than mine anyway
That would be more than I gave for my wife's 2014 Tiguan will all extras last year, so yes ๐
Well sure a 2018's Mini costs more than a 2014 VW ๐
Could have been that you tell that I could buy a house for that or so ๐
So prices look like almost the same just that you guys like more 000's at the end ๐
If you buy outside of the cities, you could get a house for 1.000.000 ish, in Oslo you get a 11mยฒ apartment for that price, if you are lucky
A A8 will set you back 1.000.000 to 1.800.000
New that is
Your country could really just cut the 0 at the end of all prices ๐
Got nothing on Indonesia lol
went there a month ago, 100AUD is around 1.000.000 Rupiah
notice how I use European thousand/million separators for you ;)
Thx ๐
I really does feel odd to use for me lol
Remember buying a pack of gum in Turkey once, was 3million lire I think
Spotted the "Fritz" integration in Home Assistant and set it up as I'm using a Fritzbox currently.
Few small issues with it, so went looking upstream to fix.
Saw mention of SOAP, so I just gave up ๐
I don't remember but Deutsche Reichsmark wasn't better either
Zimbabwe comes to mind
I say that when I wake up
You might want to get a doctor to check that out
If she's good looking the surely can wake up with me in the morning to check that out
I love people who put no effort into selling a car
"Car is ok, just some rust" is all the ad says, and three pictures that are taken with a mobile phone from 1999
Not to mention, not a single picture of the interiors
Worst I saw was the heading "Car" and a picture of the instrument cluster, nothing else
Rofl
People are clearly more education up in Norway
You are clearly not more education ๐
fucc
Can't blame me, my English isn't strong
Down here we speak Australian || cunt ||
(spoilered a naughty word)
YOU SPEAK BARBIE MATE?

I wish we were part of the EU sometimes
The Swedes pay 100nok to import a car from Germany
In Norway it is based on bhp and emissions
So a Passat would cost like 10.000 in Germany, and 170.000 to import

I didn't know you weren't
maybe if you just act like you are part of the EU nobody will notice and it'll stick
Can't give our oil money to the poor europeans
Hmm so these xiaomi sensors are just double sided tape
But you have to rip them off to change the battery?
yeah, but you can just attach any double sided tape to the back afterwards
that said, I have removed and replaced the sensors 10 times already (to get a good placement) without the glue deteriorating
atleast for the door sensors
the temp sensors you twist to get off, so the tape stays on the wall
I don't glue sensors if it isn't necessary, so only door-window sensors
The humidity sensor just lays in a cupboard
I also still have no idea how to fit the xiaomi led strip since if I use the built in glue I'm not too sure if it likes to be peeled off and reuse it when you move flat
the yeelight ones ?
Yeah
I got 6m strip to put on the 3 sides of the bed which are not at the wall
And since the bed is shit and if we move in a bigger flat I definitely will pull that off and move it to a new bed
yeah, the tape was meh
but it stuck just enough on my headboard
which is fabric
but I will probably reposition it, but then I need to stick new tape on it
Guess there is no big alternative with whatever I use. Even if I get some kind of "case" where I could just stick them in without glue I would at least need to glue that again
First world problems ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ

watch it or I'll go into voice chat and pretend I'm @ocean mirage
PUT IT ON THE BARBIE
Iโd listen to that
I'll voiceover a full episode of Home and Away
I got more of the Osram plugs and the connection issue might be gone since each is a repeater
I have three ikea lights I haven't installed
I can't decide where to put them
They won't fit in 80% of my fittings :(
Yeah that's ikea
If the whole room isn't ikea then some stand-alone pieces wont fit
It's the lack of b22 fittings in ikea
If they were b22 they would fit
But with adapters my fixtures are too small
If it was my house I would just put proper rgb strip lights in ceiling moulding or something
B22 common here as well, but mostly GU10 at my place.
Wai u no E14 and E27 god damn
Because there's no way early 20th century Britain would use something an American made
As long as the Yeelights are mainly E27 as a bulb I will choose them ๐ And over here anything else that is not so mainstream simply costs more. Also if I would imagine to use GU10 wifi RGB bulbs to fully replace room lights I would need like at loeast 4 to have as much light as one E27. And our 2 living room lights need 8 each while I can't remember to even find them easily and still then most likely 10โฌ per
I can't use E27 unfortunately :(
I feel like I'll have to hold back on the lights until we move out of here
Shit the Osram Gu10 is 27โฌ lol
We have two lifx mini whites in the bedrooms as I got them free with google home minis
But warm white makes me throw up a little in my mouth
Circadian lightning ๐
It's a crap white too. CRI is probably 60/100
Just cheap. (Yet expensive)
I could fit the ikeas if I took the covers off the ceiling lights
But it would be a bit too ghetto
@clear ferry are you rocking node-red yet?
You can even use my docker image if you like. I promise it won't be a malicious image that spams all your TTS cast devices with {"I love Australia"} on an infinite loop
@hushed basalt You need something more subtle than that...
Then again, the Aussies aren't known subtlety!
Mosquitto bombs
Randomly emits high frequency beeps
When the lights are off
And stops as soon as the lights turn on
Yeah i just noticed
:(
It was working half an hour ago
Where is GitHub hosted anyways
@hushed basalt Put some effort in! Figure out a way of screwing with the bulbs so capacitors start whining at different frequencies, and then play Waltzing Matilda ๐

@hushed basalt Github have their own DCs and if I recall correctly are running everything on Kubernetes
They made a bit deal a few years ago of the mass migration over the Kuberneters.
I need to dig down hard on kubernetes
I need to pull the trigger on some nodes
I was going to get some Dell Optiplexes off ebay or auctions
There are already alternatives..
Over the last year, GitHub has gradually evolved the infrastructure that runs the Ruby on Rails application responsible for github.com and api.github.com. We reached a big milestone recently: all web and API requests are served
Docker on OSX and Windows includes a full K8S setup these days.
Exactly the 2 OS's you don't use for an at least kinda professional setup ๐
I hate Apple on so many levels
And for k8s there are already still alternatives
Yeah
Been playing with https://k3s.io a bit as well. Handy for quick testing
Easy to install. A binary of less than 40 MB. Uses only 512 MB of RAM.
I'm not super fussed about the exact architecture
As long as it's kubernetes api
For professional learning
We just started to move a project to k3s at work
And I want to move my home services onto it. A) my 1.5ghz qc atom nas is sooo overloaded.
And b) force myself to keep it running rather than abandoning it as a learning project
I yet only did the setup to use for the devs and somehow don't get into it too. I would like to move to it as well from my Docker-Setup but I honestly feel like it almost has no sense unless it is multi-node so "podding" has a sense
Bare metal installs all the way
HEY, did you know githubs down
Just scrolled past people doing that
@hushed basalt so if you manage that someday give me a tutorial how to transfer from docker-compose as easy as possible to k3s with a proper network conf and reverse proxy ๐
Slightly odd that they are having an hour of issues
Microsoft probably needed to take it offline to integrate cortana with it
Gittana
It looks like you are pushing something, do you want me to break everything
I made my first ever automation in homeassistant tonight though :D
Node-red. Turn off heater at 11pm. Turn on heater at 6.30am
It still counts!!!
I should go to bed but I know my daughter will wake up in 5-25 minutes
So there's no point :/
Inb4 uselessduckcompany
@hushed basalt But does it play "Advance Australia Fair" as it turns on in the morning?
I haven't figured out how to pipe mp3 to google cast yet
I think i need to set up some ice cast stuff or something
But I feel my nas already has too many things running on it
Nzbget sonarr radarr hydra bazaar plex paperlessOcr, caddy, cloudflare-ddns, rclone, homeassistant, node-red ....
I would check my github for my compose files to job my memory.... But...
Oh zigbee2mqtt of course.
And mqtt.
I'm playing with Digital Oceans K8S setup. Works a charm for basic stuff, and means I don't have to setup K8S at home.
Spend enough time dealing with the team responsible for deploying K8S at work, don't feel too much like maintaining it myself ๐

oi. if anyone is using my gmapslocsharing custom_component, don't update it for like a day or two. looks like google changed the response data and i'm in the process of refactoring.
May want to mention that in #330944238910963714 too - where folks are more likely to notice it
Hmm, I wonder if the rimworld modding community is the reason its discord has this emote
anyone got multiple hue lights in a group (and annoyingly have like 1 or 2 be in a different state at times?)..... wonder what your solutions are
https://twitter.com/resoai/status/1153406145681350658 is damn cool.
I know it looks weird, but my wife is super happy now that she can change heating, hot water and towel rails schedule without editing yaml files. #homeassistant #homeautomation #knx @home_assistant https://t.co/9ZH7nL6WHo
@clever mortar roger. ty.
Tinkerer is away for 10m 9s with a message :point_right: Attempting to persuade the camel to fit through the eye of a needle
@wraith temple HA can address the individual lights outside of a group. For example I have all the lights in my sitting room groups together, but mainly so I can turn them all off at once. The automation setup can address individual lights as necessary.
thanks @strange vapor i feel like a light group in this case is kind of pointless. i wondered if there was anything built into the hue component that checked if the light had turned on
HA gets the status of all the lights from the Hue. If you go into the Developer Tools menu, you can click on States up on top, and see all that's reported for each light
For example, for one of the lights in the room I'm in, as well as seeing that the state is on, I'm also seeing the following attributes:
max_mireds: 500
brightness: 254
color_temp: 443
friendly_name: <snip>
supported_features: 43```
Thanks @strange vapor I was kinda hoping when you turn a light group on it will check that the lights in that group are all on - rather than just send an on command and hope they all respond
Seems like Iโll use Node-Red to verify the lights in the group are all on when the group is triggered
Ah finally the discord I've been searching for all my life. Don't worry I don't have any questions. All my issues are solved via two hours of tracing wiring. I do love home assistant
@wraith temple JB you can probably just send an on command regardless
As long as it's not toggle, it should just set all off lights to on and all on lights to no change
I'm not sure what you gain from a check of status
Think more in terms of declarative/desired state rather than instructional.
As sending on to the light group doesnโt seem to reliably turn all 6 bulbs on
Hmm
And same for off (1 or 2 are left in the opposite state)
not always - maybe once every 10 - 15 times
What service are you calling exactly
That may be more to do with the lights themselves perhaps? What sort of lights are they
So checking state would correct that. I can do it via Node-Red, but wondered if the hue component had anything built in to check for a successful command
Hue ambient bulbs (no color adjust, just Kelvin)
I have them all in a light group
Then light.turn_on
Toggle doesnโt work as if 1 of the 6 bulbs are on, the whole group shows as on, so you end up playing silly buggers with the light switch lol
Lol
I suspect the intermittent issue is probably a problrm with Hue
Are you using the bridge or MQTT?
Hue bridge
I did want to remove the bridge and try zigbee - but that looked too much like hard work
I use ZigBee2mqtt
I haven't used it with lights yet though. Just sensors
Do you get any response information from the group when you send the command
I suspect, if you want a check, it should go after the turn on/off command, not before
As I suspect the issue you're having wouldn't be fixed with a pre check. If the hue bridge is dropping commands etc it won't matter if you check before hand
Not dug that deep yet, was just planning on using node-red to resolve post command - will have a look and report back ๐ thanks for your help
Yeah no problems. Let me know how you go because I'll have to do a similar thing eventually
But my strong guess is Hue is just dropping commands occasionally. Either in the bridge or the bulbs
Never had issues with the hue stuff, but I only have 5 bulbs there
Compared to the 40+ of the tradfri ๐
I only switch with automations
So can you turn on and off a light in your house without using a voice or phone?
@clear ferry bought a car?
Is automation or node red better ?

Nice bed time reading!
Got a Broadlink TC2 3 gang light switch in yesterday. Lots of different info on the web as to how to get it integrated with HA but a lot of that CLI which is not my thing! ๐ . After a few hours of reading around have it working perfect via the Broadlink RMPro+

Yea... that rack mount is too small for the server

I guess thats a way to save money..
Hi all. New to HA, writing my first custom component. Can someone point me to the right room to ask questions about development issues? I've made good progress swimming through the HA source code, forums, etc. But now I'm stuck with a hopefully simple question.
There are various channels for that depending on what your doing under the DEVELOPMENT group. Probably #developers or #devs_core-archived
Ah okay, just wanted to make sure I wasn't being intrusive in those groups. Thanks!
Condolences @clever mortar
Well, what do you expect from the nation that thought that separating from the EU would bring us 3 million a day more money
(and the same person who made that claim is now PM...)
Its not even the nation choosing him
No, it's a tiny percentage of a tiny percentage of a tiny percentage
This is a win for me though, that summer cottage in Somerset is getting closer ๐
I mean we arnt voting for the PM in a genral election
That too
Its just we get things confused, we are acctually voting for MPs
and the MPs are the same
And the lot that win, it's their MPs, voted for by the minority, who get to say what's going on ๐
Its just that we tend to know who the party's leader is when voting in a GE and vote on that
Nothing will ever be as confusing as the US politics anyway, yours is atleast understandable

You need fifteen master's to understand the us elections
I want ours to change to proprtional repsesentation
Read the channel description, this is one of the few things that actually is off topic here.
but thats apparently too confusing for people
@light trout True...
Of course, it's not politics, it's about politics
gets out guide for hair splitting
At least we are not fighting
Yet
No, old 2005 as a daily driver ๐
I remember, though was too young to drive, the old T5 R estates
The ones that would out accelerate a Porsche to 100 MPH
Had s friend who had one of those, fun car
@clear ferry I went from a Passat to a Volvo XC60.
This is only 140bhp, but chippable to 200
XC60 is 190bhp while sitting in one of the most comfortable seats I've even had in a car ๐
@clever mortar its almost like some cars are sold on being a status symbol and not being a perfoming car
You think ๐
I've been in Skoda's that were better build and more comfortable than their Audi big brother
Then again I love my A4
And more expensive cars are harder to repair
@clever mortar My old boss replaced an A4 with a Superb. The Superb was the superior car. Only issue was that it was WAY too low to the ground for Irish Roads.
For the same reason apple stuff can be, its almost like apple used the car indistry as a base to control their hardware
These days, they sell them here with raised suspension and extra protection under the body as standard.
Yeah, I've no idea what I'll end up with when this dies - we got it mostly because when the last car died, it was available, reasonably priced (second hand) and had the key things we wanted
We tend to run them until they're beyond repair, so 10+ years
On the topic of cars, Eletric cars seem to be better at reversing
they just seem to need less effort to reverse up a slightly sloped drive
That's just down to pure torque available in the motors. Most auto and manual boxes skimp on reverse.
Skoda superb is probably the best VAG station wagon ever, excluding a RS6 ๐
Test drove a Hybrid XC90 before getting the XC60 even though it was far out of my price point.
also how reversing is acheived is a bit of a complex set of gears that cant push the same torque
REALLY odd. When in electric, it's RWD, but the engine powers the front wheels. So you could go from RWD to FWD to 4WD while driving down the road.
Something im finding odd, Renault seem to want you to pay them monthly to "hire" the battery
But they seem to do it so they can have the battery back and recycled and you get a fresher battery in their cars
I'm sceptical about the Volvo hybrids, that suddenly turn 4wd when they need extra power, like the Mercedes 4matic of old, if one wheel was outside of the road on gravel it would engage 4wd, at 150kmph
Most people I know who had it pulled the fuse for 4matic
@clear ferry That probably didn't end well?
I have heard horror stories
My family has a mazda cx5 that does that on demand 4WD, it works quite well
In uk winter weather
@clear ferry I know people who have the hybrid XC90 and love them, but it's takes a while to get used to.
Like when it was icy my dad drove the car in some icy conditions and he didnt have any issues
I think on the XC90 hybrid you lost atleast 200 liters in the boot right?
Because of battery pack
@clear ferry Yup, my Diesel XC60 has almost as much boot space.
My family might need to sell our Diesel car as our council is implementing a polition zone stupidly meaning we cant drive it accross the city
Most of my serious driving is motorway mainly on the weekends.. I commute to work as I really don't like Dublin traffic and the office is right in the city center.
Kinda want to push them to get an electric as we mainly use our car for short commutes and the furthest we go is well within the range of most electric cars
Have anyone noticed when the modals is too long it overflows below the browser height? Is this intentional?
@pure vine Norway has a goal of only electric cars being sold in 2025, but that is because the people deciding it doesn't drive outside the capitol borders ๐
Yeah, norway doesnt seem like a nation where it makes sense currently
I live outside oslo and electric car woks fine, though still need two cars
Exactly
Annoyingly the news reports on eletric car sales only using hybrids, its kind of annoying
I can drive 700km in a day for work, that doesn't work electric
Yeh, a lot of mail goes electric here now, and with the electric lorries being announced also city deliveries can do it
just wait in a couple of years electric cars are just as expensive as others
Ireland is a small country, but outside of the Dublin commuter belt, charging points are, em, less common. Looked at electric, but would even up with fun range anxiety if driving down to the parents etc.
Saying that, Tesla had started putting up a few super charger stations
Annother advantage of eletric is your home can be a "petrol station" for the car
There is even a stretch of Norway that has signs that day "next petrol station in 120km, so chargers are even scarser
Yup, if at home. If in the middle of no where with grass growing in the middle of the road, you might be able to find some diesel, might be awkward finding a decent charger ๐
@pure vine that makes sense in Norway, since we have almost free power, but not for other countries perhaps
Nice, flying over to Stavanger tomorrow to look at the car
I can work out of our branch office there while waiting ๐
At least im producing most of my own power :p
I'll look into solar panels if I move house if I accept the job offer I have at hand
No bother now if I will move out next year anyway
Should we be starting the chant of Quit! Quit! Quit!
Or maybe diagonally

I've lost my intense motivation
It's called life
So now I rarely dabble

@boreal pewter flying to see it tomorrow, if I want it ๐

https://www.finn.no/151218994 @boreal pewter
@late gate my colleague has that

Oh dude
I have both cars in HA. nice to have
@clever mortar one could make a Frankenstein esp32 on the webasto for manual integration
๐
Wonder if anyone has done that already
