Which will have a house on it
And then I'll finally be able to have a home to automate :D
None of this rental approved edison to b22 adapter smart bulbs and devices on shelves
Any Aussie homeowners out there?
Yeah but I probably don't know whatever you are gonna ask
also grats on being able to buy
Rental, meh, for noobs 😛
Atx bought his house before he started shaving
At all?
Well, enough to bother shaving, I had 1mm growth per year at most
Yes, I ruin mostly anything
Or so my wife says

Nice home assistant DIY https://i.imgur.com/b7Fywds.gifv
Works well, I’m not normally a fan of that type of lighting
i would so do that if i had stairs
yes
North America has loads of space, so they don't feel the need to cram houses into as little footprint as possible 😄
All the American houses I see on TV have two floors with stairs that look like they belong on the Titanic and an entry way the size of my house 😛
TV Lies then
It's the various renovation shows that really show you what your average person lives in
Or hoarders? 😂
Are single story houses unusual there atx?
Certainly in the UK they are
In Norway it would be weird
Most houses are atleast 2 floors, sometimes 4
4 damn screw that
Mine is three 🤷
I get the benefits but I’m not a big fan of stairs
Two is normal in the UK, but town houses with (sort of) three floors aren't uncommon
They've got a garage in the ground floor, sometimes a room down there, and then the "normal" arrangement above
Typical modern Norwegian house
Damn, that's a good size
But houses in states are made of paper
Modern houses most places aren't made out of brick/block any more 🤷
Heres me in the UK with a flat roof, bodging a sonoff into the ceiling https://gnxs.uk/08xub
Then a hurracaine comes and it just blow up
Ooooh, magic smoke time!
sonoffs don't need cases do they lol
They used to be here in the UK, but now it's a mix of blockwork and "modern" construction
most UK are brick skinned
Brick houses are usually designer houses in Norway
They just love to put some ugly render over it nowadays
I would love to buy a Tirol style house though, I love those
I'd love something with turrets, no matter how impractical that would be 😄
The good thing with usa paper houses is that the WiFi gets everyplace
The bad thing is the nature
I don't understand houses with "crawl spaces"
It's where you hide the bodies
just seems nasty
I use them to hide stuff that is too sentimental to throw away, but I don't have room to store in reality 🤷
yeah, stuff like @clever mortar said
As I understand it, crawl spaces are best in relatively dry climates. Britain is most definitely not one of those. Also, the frost line doesn't go deep in the UK, so a concrete base doesn't need to be built deep to avoid movement from frost.
I also have network switches in my crawl spaces
Even if it is -30 outside it's only around 0 there
Depends on which part of the UK @somber steppe - we start at merely damp and go through to swimming 🤣
@ocean mirage thought Oz people lived in the bush anyway, and bushfire was just a euphemism

Not sure where to post this, so I'll just leave it here.... My Sonoff is fitted in the ceiling and working with the standard light switch and Home Assistant! https://youtu.be/lotOUQUn4Z8
Guys anyone set up a CUPS server on raspbian? Got a wee project at work and wanna test it
Install CUPS and samba, and just config via web page?
I think so, it's been some time
Lol k, cheers. I'll get a couple ordered for testing
Looking at their release dates, I was first using it before version 1.0...
It wasn't hard to set up back then, I doubt it got harder
Samba was the hardest part, the CUPS bit was easy, other than getting support for random printer #42 installed
Yeah from what I've been reading, seems very straightforward. And since it's not python or anything, I shouldn't need to worry about updates all the time - just set up scheduled patching
Yeah, it's like any other package in that regards
Oh we'll be installing a standard set of 6 models, all from the same manufacturer, fully CUPS supported
That makes life easier then 😄
It does when I'm talking about 2-4000 printers lol
Aye
Any experience with mopria?
Nah, everything I use myself these days supports Google Cloud Printing
Makes life so much easier
You not found the huge spool file sizes in google cloud print a turn off?
Lol, it's making a comeback
As an end user, I have little need for printing monster documents
As a professional, I know people who handle these things 😛
Hahah
I did service in a printing shop once, replaced a KVM in a rack, but the printer was the size of a medium city apartment 😂
The good old days...
Old? This was 4 years ago 😛
Probably still runs
Yeah, I've seen my work's print room. It has printers larger than my first flat
I've seen insides of servers that has better room layout than my first apartment 🤷
I think being sick has dulled my interest in Home Assistant. I was tinkering with my set up daily and now I haven't really touched it for a week
I am surfing the web for hardware suggestions for a NextCloud installation, that is not raspberry pi or other pi like board, something that fits a sub $300 budget.
My thought is to run it on a Fedora installation with a ZFS file system and RAID. I think my best bet might be to look for an used server on Craigslist.
Brick is a horrible wall medium for a lot of places
But we in Australia are in love with it
My house will be double brick simply because I don't have a choice :(
In Guatemala people are in love with brick also. I think it has to do with how hot it gets there during the sunny seasons.
Nah you should use lightweight reflective materials on the outside
And the cavity insulation
Jardiamj... Thought about an Intel nuc?
Such as weatherboards etc
The sun heats up the brick, a lot. And the releases that heat into your house all day and all night
Insulation just slows it down but it's better to not retain that heat in the first place
Blocks the heat getting in though
Another thing no one pays attention to in Australia is air tightness
Just as important as insulation but talk to most builders and they look at you like you're a nutjob
An ideal house would be 100% airtight, with massive shading from the sun when it's too hot and maximum solar gain inside when it's too cold. And insulation good enough to retain the temperature
@hushed basalt, I agree but there is this general misconception that brick keeps houses cool, and most people in Guatemala don't have the money to pay an architect and so most builder don't have the technical knowledge and just copy what they see.
Exactly the same in Australia :(
Even weatherboards over brick would help tremendously
It's just sad that there's this huge public narrative about the cost of electricity, the cost of carbon pollution, global warming etc
And not a single person talks about how half the reason we use so much electritcy is to heat and cool homes that were designed terribly
And it's often hard to get people to understand some simple heat transfer concepts. My wife, for example, kept on opening every window at home when was hot outside because she thought that would coold the house down.
Now, I have a weather station in my backyard and so I kept on telling her not to open the windows unless the temperature outside is lower than the temperature inside the house but it took me a while to get her into that habit.
@jon, I have actually thought about a NUC, and I might go that route. I am trying to reduce my dependency on Google services.
Have you looked at Heat Recovery Ventilation @wary jolt
You need a certain air tightness though
I am reading about it right now, thanks for the info.
It's a great technology. I haven't had much hands on with it but I've stayed in a place in York that had it and I've spoken to a few designers
It's a lot more popular in Europe. Big part of Passivhaus
But they can easily be installed with a summer bypass vent as well
Which basically means when it's colder outside than inside in summer you can have it automatically pull in the cold air
While still filtering out all the pollutants
And then normally you run everything through the heat exchanger. So you get fresh clean air but recover a lot of the energy from your heating or cooling
Watch out for some systems calling themselves recovery ventilators
But all they do is pull in air from your roof space and pump it into your house
A pro tip though if you do get one. Is to install a very large diameter cheaper filter in the ducting before your HEPA filters.
As a cheaper pre filter to stop your expensive HEPA filter getting clogged with crap
Recovery ventilation is quite popular in Norway, but here it reuses the hot air inside to heat the outside air being pulled in, helpful in the winters in regards to air quality and less heating spent
Anyone use Home Panel who may be able to help troubleshoot it?
When attempting to create an account on the Home Panel Web UI, nothing happens aside from getting an error that the websocket timed out
I don't know if there's some manual way to do it?
I also get this error on the HASS Log with the timestamp of trying to use the Home Panel front end: Disconnected: Did not receive auth message within 10 seconds
Raspberry Pi 4 announced https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/
I want one.. Even when I dont need one 🤣
got 2 3b+ and 2 zero W jst laying around collecting dust
For HA I grown out of the pi
yea im in the same boat lol if amazon had it i woudlve ordered it by now 😂
Hey we’re a smart home hub!
Congratulations to our friends at @Raspberry_Pi for launching Raspberry Pi 4! https://t.co/Upj0lE0IfQ
might want to get one now
at least in the US lead times are 2 weeks
correction
element14/Newark is already backordered
its been less than 2 hours
argh, literally just picked up another Pi a week ago cause i was told there wasn't gonna be one this year. oh well. i'll def get this.
and CanaKit was July 3rd about 15 minutes ago when I checked. Now it's July 10
@random cloud seriously, if you want one, you probably should order RIGHT NOW
I think this will be like every rPi launch in the past
They'll be available for the first 10-12 hours and then sold out for months
or hard to get
I ordered one from the pi hut
to... test
also i need to free up a pi for annother project
Hehe
systemctl show -p SubState --value systemctl
$dead
Hey You just faking!
Not sure if it's the best place to share however Raspberry pi 4 has been announced
or it's already been shared
woah
Just a reminder, the @Raspberry_Pi website is running on a Pi4 server cluster with 72 cores, 72GB of RAM, that consumes less than 100W in 1/2 U of rack space that retails for under $1000. Server manufacturers should start getting scared.
@potent zenith you're just over a hour late 😛
hahaha well better late then never :3
@ExtElec @richtamblyn @Raspberry_Pi They're running @Debian buster, @puppetize did the configuration build. No IPv4 addresses were used, they're all #IPv6 only and we completed all the setup without NAT64.
Timing is good as well. Debian Buster has Python 3.7, so less hassle for us awkward gits running HA in a VENV 😄
Now if only the pi4 would have supported 3 monitors I would buy it
Really?
Have not tested it, but probably
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/raspberry-pi-4-b,6193.html
doesn't say anything about more then 2 monitors however looking at benchmarks it does look they weren't joking about ~3x performance
Hmm, could be a good desktop replacement for me then 😛
I was thinking the same atxbyea though not for me however not sure how windows 10 would perform on this once available
I don't mind running Linux, I only work by vpn, SSH and RDP both at home and towards customers
All I require is three or more monitors, and there are not a lot of soc or mini computers that do that 😛
Heck even few thin clients support it, that would also be an option since I run VMware horizon in my garage anyway 🤷
so 2hrs + looking for an awnser by myself. I cant find an awnser 😕
I try to check in an basch script if sysmemd is installed - so if not that it will echo out something like - sorry not on this distro && exit 1
Idea how to accive this?
lol this is so deam typical, 1: getting frustraded 2: Asking for help 3: finding the awnser shortly after
(ps -p 1 -o comm=) =! systemd
Surprised they included USB-C in the 4, thought we might have had to wait till like the 4+ or 5 or something
Even Apple has realised that c is the superior plug 😛
Lol, hopefully they start switching phones over soon
@clear ferry Two Pi running two monitors each, and something like Synergy to share!
I personally don't think a Pi is useful as a desktop
I ran that before, with a Windows laptop, a MacBook and a Linux desktop for 4 screens total @strange vapor
@junior forge the pi4 might be
@clear ferry I have an i7 Macbook pro with 32Gb memory (late 2018 model)... I sometimes wish it had more power...
don't see myself working on a Pi
@junior forge For most of my desktop work, a few terminals and a browser are all that's required. Pi 3 does work at a pinch, will be interesting to try a Pi 4 with 4G RAM when available.
Using a Dell XPS13 for my own stuff these days.
@junior forge my primary desktop is a windows machine from 2009, but I usually work in my virtual desktop which is a triple head 32gb 6core system, what I have in the frontend doesn't matter much, just need something with triple head output on my desk 😛 🤷
@clear ferry LOL 😄
I work on a single screen
and like to have my stuff portable, so I can work anywhere
(have to say, my single screen is a 43" ultra wide monitor)
I used to have 5 screens, but currently have 3, I prefer segregating my customers to their own screen, so I can work on 3 at once
Three screens at work. Macbook Pro and two 24"
Anyone come across good options for multiple output USBC power supplies.
Have an Anker one with single USBC and multiple USBA outs, but not seeing many multiple USBC options
Guessing the negotiating USBC has to do makes multiple output PSUs awkward?
So, question - I was looking at buying my first Pi this week - with the launch of the 4,should I hold off a week or two to allow time for teething issues and to allow software to catch up
Get a pi4, and get it fast #YOLO
Fully loaded 15 inch MacBook Pro
Maxed Proc, 32GB, 2TB
Dual LG UltraFine 27-inch 5K displays
Still need more power although mostly because compiling Home Assistant for iOS takes... a while
Currently build time is like 1.5 hours from scratch but that’s due partially to an Xcode bug. It’s really like 45 minutes. And that includes the Watch app
Got my eye on a iMac Pro in the near future
If I get a Superdome Flex in my garage you can borrow CPU time @flat lintel , hopefully 896 cores and 64tb of ram will suffice 😛
Yes but does it run macOS
It's x86, we'll get it running as a hackintosh 😂
@flat lintel Fan of keeping builds away from desktop. Relative easy to do these day. Compiling for iOS does complicate things though 😄
Yeah I bad builds on TravisCI for a long time but then this Xcode bug and now nothing builds because it just sits there and does nothing for 45 minutes
So Travis kills the builds thinking it’s hung

I know at one point at work we had a half rack of Mac Minis used just a build agents for the iOS app. Seemingly more than a few of them just burnt out.
That’ll happen
I got a generous donation of two racked Mac Minis at MacStadium in Ireland
They’re churning out all 38283847473 screenshots required to upload to Apple for app submission
(It’s really like 240.... for now)
You’re 4 hours late!
Yea already ordered... jk =p
I haven't seen a Mac server at a customer in atleast 5 years, do they still exist?
Sorry sir.
I just watched the release for the 4b.... and might have made a mess
@clear ferry google “macstadium”
They're all just Mac Minis though rather than the Rackmount servers Apple used to do one time.
Oh, only two companies I deal with still use Macs at all, so not well versed in the area 😛
Looks like Cloudflare are having fun today
Aww Finnaly back
@clear ferry some server gore?
https://youtu.be/FS-TkdedN3Y?t=110
Crosstalk's Worst Server Room 2019 contest finalists! Thanks to everyone who entered - I am in both shock and awe at your server rooms, and you have my deepe...
Sorry I broke the internet @Underknowledge#7762
Worst Norwegian ever
@hearty depot Have passed onto some of the more OCD of our Data Centers Ops folk. They may talk to me again some time next decade
Less talk.. Less work 🤷 🤣
I used to work on telecoms mdfs at the exchanges
Tens of thousands of individual twisted pair lines on one frame
No bloody pride though. Privatisation, incentivasation and contractors.. great mix
Rats nest
@clear ferry Thanks!
Found a fourum post form you from 2009 that helped me with a outlook issue 😛
The issue was really related to a missing driver
@atxbyea#0001 I'm looking at a block of land that has fibre
Real fibre run to the house
Lazors in my eyes
what, I posted something usable you say, link it 😛 @light trout
you mean like any block of land in Norway 😛 😛 😛 😛 @hushed basalt
Was from my work computer (not starting that agein today), I Think it was from freak, but not 100% sure, I scrolled though a lot of results 😛
@light trout probably, I think I am the biggest poster on freak, but I might have been surpassed, haven't been logged in for 5 years 😛
Thought you didn't want to use a pi 😛 also what storage you planning to use
Maybe if I buy a VGA666 and attached to the headers of the pi4 I could have three monitors 🤔 🤔 🤔
Meh, only 800*600 resolution
This one worked with older pis atleast
There's also composite video in the 3,5 mm jack
only thing i don't like about the pi4 is the micro hdmi ports
@low harness really? Also an alternate route
Some guy on youtube said so. No idea if it's true, but I guess it could be one of those four-pole thingies.
I'm kind of annoyed they moved the usbs and ethernet ports. I think that means it the cables in my nespi case won't reach
well.. it's composite...
Maybe I'll just do a pi zero and a pi4 and synergy between them 😛
Really like what that does to the spec list, though; USB-C, USB 3, Gigabit ethernet, dual 4k micro HDMI... and composite out... record scratch
Hm... just opened the nespi case up... and I think it could work... 🤔
Didn't old cameras used to have the 3.5mm video connectors
Yeah. It's probably exactly the same thing.
The 90s called and want their technology back
not sure if rest of the world had Scart but I was a common thing in the UK
Pretty much everywhere with PAL had it
Mmmmm scart
I still have the old adapters laying around, just in case the world ends and we need to rig up a crt screen
Component video (not composite) was basically VGA on phono jacks
Scart's still highly appreciated by retro game aficionados.
@jon, I don't know. Today I was thinking NAS box with those 3.5 WD red NAS HD.
But I still don't know which way to go with this.
Good thing about my home being offline and no access to HA is that I can do family research instead, which I have put off for too long 🤣
my ancestry account has been idle for a while
anyone know much about using VPNs on linux?
@low harness we definitely didn't use SCART in Australia
The pi4b looks sweet
Looks like I'll have to buy 4 of them and make a k8s cluster
Is gigabit sufficient for such purposes?
Sick, should fit what you’ve been after then
@hushed basalt you guys just stuffed a kangaroo or emu into the TV and then the audio and video cables into said kangaroo or emu I reckon
That face when someone measures speed in miles per hour instead of koalas per kangaroo
Wuhu, this years vacation money has arrived 🎉 🎉
According to Wikipedia I can only find articles about it in German, Norwegian and Dutch, so maybe not an international thing for sure 🤔
hi everybody. is someone here who can help me out with configuring netatalk 3?
im running hassbian.
wanna have /home/homassistant/.homeassistant as 'drive' on a mac. could do this on old netatalk 2, but v3 is so different in configuring that im struggled...
and i find mostly old version 2 things who doesnt work on 3
@midnight adder about to sleep but my understanding is AFP is dead
Why are you trying to set up netatalk?
Time Machine?
Aye, I migrated two customers last year to smb3
Yeah
Like, Apple killed AFP
It’s still supported but not recommended, especially under APFS
@light trout
Only have to get an overview over some cards
@hearty depot analogue Lovelace?
Round about 😉 - I collected them over years - Just came on the idea to use them for HA
got still an Air port AirPort Time Capsule 2nd generation in my network - as far as I can tell that thing doesnt speak anything diffrent then smb1 🙈
Kill it with 🔥
but..but.. it serves my movies.. ☹
remindes me to add some firewall rules - my network is a mess 🙈
well - rather its just a network - no subnets, very very basic firewall
Started updating some of my stuff to Debian Buster. Has nftables by default with an iptables wrapper around it. First time playing with nftables in anger, and it's really damn nice.
Still figuring out some of the necessary NAT stuff 😃
Omg why is it so difficult to find a modern dedicated print server??? Seems nobody makes them any more
Raspberry Pi with CUPS 😉
Use digital document handling, no need for prints
"The paperless office" - I agree with you, but we do still have some actual paper requirements
Change those!
@light trout prepare to feel your age.... I have a call set up with
Wait for it
Lantronix!
Welcome to 1980
10y before I was born 😉
Awww bless, I prolly have socks older than you 😄
most likely xD
Not sure if it's still the case, but longer than I'd care to admin ago, I was worked in a Pharma Plant. EVERY log line related to the production of the drugs was print out on a dot-matrix printer on a spool of paper.
Common, no daisy wheel?
Every few days, an Iron Mountain truck would come and load a pallet or two of paper.
Yeah we could use alot less paper, but we do still have some legit printing requirements - which is gonna cost us a fortune
Finally have enough spare cash to get a new laptop and I have had my Macbook Air since 2013 and am pretty much apple fan boy. But looking at the Surface Pro 6 I am now undecided... sooo much cheaper and windows based so things actually work with it easier. Anyone have one? Thoughts?
Lol look up Louis Rossman on youtube, he repairs apple devices, and posts amazing vids
About due an upgrade. Have a five year old Dell XPS13 which is getting a bit scruffy. Will probably stick with the same as it has been nice and reliable.
Even after dropping it a few times.
HP 840 G5 here, once I upped it to 32GB RAM it's am awesome piece of kit
I looked at the new xps13 but the NZ upgrade options are lacking cant get more ram or bigger ssd
I would go for an Bulletproof thinkpad
Or again a xiaomi mi ( my wife inherited it... ) But to be honest - I`m already very happy with my acer r11 (chromebook) runing linux (galliumos)
I ditched MS almost complete
sorry, felt asleep in between... there was questions why, so lemme explain: i tried smb before - it even doesnt notice me if connection broke, so i keep on editing and editing and editing and nothing happened. so im mad with smb. afp was super before on v2, i had a drive called homeassistant on the finder. i navigate to the files i wanna edit, clicked on it, and it opens in bbedit and could do my editings on configuration.yaml, in all subfolders i created, even could tinker around in .storage. i'ld like to have this again exept:
- smb grwon up, deactivate the drive if connection break or even notice me.
- afp is really dead.
- there are better options.
hoepfully answered all questions. im ready for discussion and open in many directions. so what do u use for this purpose raspi <-> mac
timemaschine, cups is not needet btw.
Never see problems at my customers that work with MacBook and SMB shares, both wired and wireless, and they work with anything from 4kb to 100GB files 🤔
someone meight know what happens when I add an empty ssh file to the SD card of an pi 🤔
I just edit my img
by itself, nothing
I guess nothing does 🤣
correct 😉
on raspbian (maybe others) a ssh file in the root of the card tells the OS to enable the ssh server.
But that file on it's own on a pi... wel... a pi needs an OS to boot, so it will not do anything
ah ! - I just change the offset! then I get to the right partition
Aww - thats prittey cool imo
fdisk -u -l 2019-04-08-raspbian-stretch-edit.img to check where the partition starts , then the number * block size to mount with mount -o loop,offset=50331648 2019-04-08-raspbian-stretch-edit.img 🎉
would be cooler if that was buster 😉
Ahhh... Let me guess there is a new version of raspbian?

fufufufufuf
https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/
always when I'm finished with something 🤣
You could just use this https://github.com/home-assistant/pi-gen/releases/tag/v1.6 😉
oh.. buster is acutally live 😛
check the site
Raspbian Buster Lite is just downloading
- Probably * yesterday with the release
same +1
trickster
there is a deam big(small) edited sing on the lower right corner 😉
I know 😉
So - ready again - wireless, ssh with keys and settings, instalation scripts, a useful bash history.. what else could I need
Buster isn't released formally for another week and a bit
Not going to really bother doing it until I can get a proper buster install lol
Was released almost a week ago
Have updated most of my stuff to Buster already. No issues so far.
(Probably just jinxed myself!)

Hey guys, this is my first project open-source and I would like know how can I start? and if I find anything I just call someone and wait a answer? I'm brazilian so maybe I wrong in anything when I write, i just need that you understand me, thanks.
Sure. It’s a phishing campaign
I briefly got excited about automating my lower living room shades when I discovered the Axis Gear, then I saw the price 😬
For $250 I might as well get a new motorized shade from Bali 🤔 That price is blowing my mind...
anyone tweak windows terminal yet
Windows might over take apple for developers someday ...now that trackpad. 🤔
What was that site where you could browse 3d print models, and even order them from different providers for fixed prices? 🤔
To answer my own question, https://www.thingiverse.com
@cedar pollen It’s all about those FOUR monitors! 😝
Lol, if a TV and a laptop count, then put me in for 6 😂
I no longer have that setup, unfortunately. That was at my office a couple years back. And yes, it took me 17 minutes to scroll back through my iOS photos to find that. 😂
lol i just have 3 similar to that and a tv directly above it that has a connection to my Nuc
Now i have to decide if I want to use that method to the link I posted or find some other method of installing Home assistant on ubuntu 😃
yea cant give up the full NUC it already has plex running on it, and well I mean I could considering Hass.io has a plex server but how reliable is that? Its more of a keep it self contained or... not..
Still running Windows 7 😮
In your situation, I would try spinning up the VM for Hass.io (using the VMDK image), and go from there.
I have not seen that one... will look for it 😃
oh nice right on the main page ..ha
I keep saying im going to bed.. but ...
uncertain if I broke something or the host is realy down. Hell all I know it could be even possible that I blocked it 😅
E: Failed to fetch http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/pool/main/b/bluez/bluez-hcidump_5.50-1+rpt1_armhf.deb Could not resolve 'archive.raspberrypi.org'
raspberrypi.org seems up
I blocked it with adguard 🤦
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kano1/Kano/master/Spyware_Scrip.txt
secure.document.exe Sometimes they're not even trying
Well.. I think my father would at least click on it
I got an email the other day with the title "Fuck you! I hate you!". That, at least, made me think once before reflexively throwing it away.
That sounds like my typical fan mail 🎉
Since when are Philips Hue sensors fully integrated into HA?!
a few months
Missed it. Should pay more attention to unused entities 😄
😓 more...and more.. and...
think I might have found what's been causing my light to turn on... I had a node-red that turns the light on when chromecast goes to stop... or off state... I think that's been firing over night
I added a check to make sure the projector was on before turning the light on, I've also replaced the bulb so we'll see 😄
That we have to practice a little 😅
so make it hotter and dont kill?
Should probably have rather been stirb nicht maybe 🤔
Better direction - but you still want from me that I make it hotter
I'll stick with Japanese for now, haven't studied German in 20 years 😛
no need for it - I dont know a single german who cant comunicate in english
Das ist so heize?
Ja
Es ist so heiß
I met a few in Essen that didn't know English, but that was 22 years ago
Ja danke, zwei stunde !
All I needed in the internet cafe
👍
I thouhgt ß was officially removed?
I found knowing a bit of German was great when visiting France a few years ago.
The six degrees of separation is quite interesting, I just remembered I am three degrees away from John carmack
Wonder how far I could get with 6
Maybe 🤣 Bigger news abroad as in the country - maybe only germany 🇦🇹
Does anyone else get OCD about the fact that rackmount switches with less than 48 ports aren't symmetrical
hehe I love this guy
https://vid.pr0gramm.com/2019/06/26/c48c28d4a97838e1.mp4
@hushed basalt they aren't?
So like 24 port switches
They always have it off to one side
Exhibit A
Also those patch cables need to burn in a fire
Random google image. Not my worj
you can buy proper spacers rack mounts so you can have it in the center
Doesn't help on that switch, it's the body not a mount on the right side 😛
I prefer my chassis switches
Oh that is a horrible url
Somehow I don't think the wife would accept a chassis switch for the home
Trottle the thoughput to her devices, and say you need it to get fast wifi 😄
$100k later...
Need to up those numbers kid
Urgh cable fail
Why do people do this
Googling home cabinets brings up lots of cablehorrors
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know... it's easy....
Lol let me do it and you ll cry a river
This is my small business attempt
Those modems shit me off those. Screw you ADSL
I regret not getting keystone patch panels though
PITA to add new runs
I know for when I do my house though
My home rack is a bit of a shit storm atm
But to be fair I don't want to buy any proper hardware until I have my own house
Then it'll be neat as
Fortunately I'm not one of those homelab nutters who buy R720s etc so I don't need a full depth rack
My AV rack is deep enough
And it was free
I think people who run second hand 7 year old 1u-2u 900mm servers in their home need their head checked
You mean like my 8 rack servers and blade enclosure, and three SANs? 😛
Yes. But you're a lost cause
So says my wife
Those servers are made for rack density
Colocation and such where you pay per RU
Any sane person doesn't need 30+ servers on 42U :D
At home
Whats your power bill like
It's like $2.50/watt/year here and rising
Your homelab would probably cost me like $15000/5 years
I've got two small servers based on the Intel N series running upstairs. Generally drawing less than 50W between them
Noice
We pay 0.8 USD per kWh here
0.08 you mean :D
Oh yes actually
Even better 😁
Can't trust a euro with decimals
😮 Our minimum tier starts at $0.19/kwh
I pay $0.28
There is something hypocritical about Norway using Hydro domestically while running their economy on oil exports :D
Like Australia being nuclear free while being a major uranium exporter
Never get high on your own supply
€0.205/kwh for my place..
I dont think the math makes sense on home battery storage at the moment
I hope to see that become viable in my lifetime
Moving loads to daytime when PV is running and increasing your thermal efficiency would pay off way faster
And be better environmentally and economically
We've been down at $0.04 a few years ago
I have some handy little arm based machines which are nothing more than a 3.5" drive caddy with a power and network port. Use them for playing with Ceph and Minio.
@strange vapor I should get a moonshot 1500 chassis and run 40 arm boxes
1.3 Kwh per day here. (19c - 24c per kwh)
when nobody is using plex - but that almost never happens
the complete network / modem / router / nas
lets see how much the usg takes afterwards
I hate my life atm 🤣
things you can do against the cold > things you can do against the heat
Yeah. You can always put on more clothes....
Is .95 release today?
should be
Oh thank you. What’s the rc?
Would be actually intressting what its standing for
but you can think of it like an dev version
Thanks for the knowledge!
Hey, which dashboard are you guys using for your tablet?
None
Just the default ui?
Nothing to show, so no UI 😜
Huh? You don't have any devices?
Nope :)
With your options in #frontend-archived that is a good option now
I just use standard #frontend-archived cards and views
Do you know Tileboard @clear ferry ?
Nope
Doesn't this look way more slick then lovelace ui for tablets?
🤷
If you like that Windows Metro style, then sure I suppose
Windows metro 🤢 🤢
It's probably personal preference
If you need/want a UI something is wrong with your automations
Nah, nothing wrong with my automations 😄
I have an old Nexus 7 tablet that I am not using
UI is still necessary for some things, unfortunately
I use the UI for monitoring mostly , but I still have a few buttons that I can't automate with the baby in the house 😛
The only problem I have with my home automation is that I don't have an backup plan
I have stuff hooked up trough very cheap RF switches lol
I need internet. Otherwise I have to unplug my RF switch to get lights turned on
I'm on a tight budget. I should upgrade to zigbee
ZigBee 4 lyfe
Z-Wave masterrace
Z-Wave is for rich people 😄
Or for people who like consistency in their protocols 😉
Can't argue with that
Pff, even Tinkerer has seen the light that is ZigBee 😛
I'm not saying it doesn't have its uses, but I just don't need another thing plugging up my 2.4ghz band
I want to keep automating stuff lol
It's so much fun
But I can't think of anything useful
I'm a pretty heavy TileBoard user
@frail karma Have you used home-panel?
I tried TileBoard, but I can't be asked to code all my devices in JS
I haven't, I like the hackability that TileBoard allows with its javascript 😃
I am going back to Tileboard 😄
Can you implement like a radio card in Tileboard?
Something like this
https://github.com/resoai/TileBoard/blob/master/TILE_EXAMPLES.md has the different tile types
there's an input_select tile that can give you a dropdown
I don't use my 2.4ghz network anyway, all my devices support 5ghz 🤷
Rich kid 😄
Well, 5ghz had been the default standard for 10 years or more 😛
I recently upgraded my router to 5ghz. Was using an classic wrt54gl for over 10 years lol
You have 5ghz iot devices?
Very few WiFi iot devices atm, actually only 2, but I have 25 access points in the garage I was going to use for that purpose with their own access points 🤔
80% of my HA entities are wifi
25 just in the garage, might cause some channel overlap 😛
Lol you can come get a few if you need @light trout, they are msm466 access points
pass 😛
Talking about automations... Is there a quick way to make time ones day based (i.e I don't want my bedroom light turning on early at the weekends)
You can make a condition that says it must be a workday
You can either use a template or this component https://www.home-assistant.io/components/workday/
Hey guys! Don't miss the latest IOT Link update: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HomeAssistant/permalink/2382945661976790/
now with Windows 10 native notifications! I believe it is currently the best way to send notifications to a Windows machine...
@hearty depot how did you set that card up?
What’s the focus of this photo
That suspicious looking orange cone
Probably hiding toys
so wait.. I have to insatll Hasio directly to the NUC hard drive.. damnit.. lol
its much faster thats for sure.
@cedar pollen pff, just do a esxi install on the nuc, then VM with HA
Meh I had an extra nuc laying around
well not extra just moved my plex over to my R720 and used the nic for the Hassio
Oh reminds me, vacation money has arrived, I should order 4x new 10tb drives for Plex
I ordered 2 recently, but I’m running unraid so they’re just my parity drives now :(
Freenas 4 lyfe
i got a snyology so that means im not as cool ha
Not a fan of freenas but whatever works for ya works for ya
As long as I can run plex, sonarr/radarr (and hass of course) :)
Hass currently lives in my prod esxi environment, but I reckon I'll move it to it's own box at some point
@cedar pollen I have a qnap too, but it really was underpowered since day one
yea, i Really only use mine for hosting data.. it runs nothing else .. it used to but ive since moved everything
Yeah, the qnap delivers 20MBps, with two bonded 1g links, the freenas delivers 120MBps with a single 1g interface, with the same drives
yea my Synology does the same as the freenas but its only a few years old
I can do 180 to my array or 550 to my cache over 10g point to point
But that’s cause my desktop is racked with my server
I considered putting a 10g in the freenas, but meh
I have 40g switches in my garage anyway
what you do for a living..ha
Fix and implement expensive big systems
ah..
I work for a compnay that protects, replicates, for all those sysmtes 😃
Mostly esxi clusters, SANs, UNIX, HPC, networking, or anything else in between
I mainly do hardware, not much software side, so that probably explains why I’m drowning so much in here😂
I’m networking, cameras, server deployment, etc
Rj45 10g, I only ever see that when customers need 4 ports total, the heat output is a problem too, so too many ports is a hassle, optics for lyfe imo, I hate twinax too
4 port with Poe though? What kind of devices support 10g and require Poe?
Well, the 2.5g and 5g are usually vendor specific in my experience, so if you want it you would need Aruba switches and Aruba access points or other variations
Just walking past contractors in the street
Putting in new copper joints in 2019...
This is ridiculous
Ah I see lol
@clear ferry what’s your NFS performance like on FreeNAS
I lost my pool today and so upgraded to 11.2 and created a new pool. Now everything feels like it’s dragging.
A bit worried that there’s another drive failure lurking in the system, although smartctl doesn’t think so
I’m seeing maybe 110mb/s on a DD from /dev/zero
any downside of using nmap and pinging every 10 seconds>
I am trying to avoid it but it seems I cant
or may have to modify rules of pinging
A @flat lintel haven't tried, NFS is... For weirdos and old Unix systems, or HPC 😛 😛 😛
I run SMB shares and a couple of jails
@shell trail 10 seconds sounds excessive
@random cloud note... Efforts to produce a standard, which is why I say you will only see it with running same vendor hardware
@clear ferry Yes - eitherway Id like to avoid pinging as much as possible
maybe ping every second until for 5 seconds to check if online and not ping until the switch is toggled again
I am looking at implementing something like this for NAS setuo
.95😁
Help me setup sources? simple harmony hub tv sources
anyone from melbourne?
SMB and NFS is for snobs
I have a series of pulleys connected to my server that release carrier pidgeons each carrying a byte of data
Latency is a bit long though
Can't be hacked though
Interception is a problem sometimes. Those damn falcons
how
@hushed basalt You need Falcons trained as counter Falcons
@hushed basalt Close enough mate
I think we've caught a case of Melbourne weather today
Dont we always
Do you have any hardwired automation stuff
I'm building a house soon but I want to make sure I can make it easy for myself long term
AU Approved Smart ZigBee 3.0 Two Gang AU/NZ Approved Light Switch for Wireless Home Automation Google Home Amazon Echo Dot Echo Plus Alexa Voice Lighting Control: Amazon.com.au: Home Improvement
As far as I can tell these seem to be the cheapest simplest legal way to do lighting in Oz
Yeah I found those too when I tried to look
I don’t really like the look and likely the function of them
I’d prefer something with a physical switch (obviously it wouldn’t be a two position switch or anything cause that wouldn’t work)
@ocean mirage i think a lot of control modules can be switched with a physical switch
So the zigbee module etc just monitors the switch and sees a high/low change as an intent to switch
Yeah I’ve seen those things but then say I turn the lights off through ha and then want to turn them on physically I would need to flick it twice to turn on right @hushed basalt ?
I’ve seen Americans with switches that always default to the same position, and flick up turns on and off, down is dimmer levels, I like that idea but doesn’t seem to exist here
@bronze laurel Thermostat? - Its actually mini-graph-card and I clicked on it - so its just the basic sensor card I guess. you mean this? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/397426163649216512/593481634666250250/unknown.png
@ocean mirage no the wall switches are just gpios
@hushed basalt there’s a forum topic in the HA forums dedicated to Aussie certified smart stuff. There’s a couple of sparkys that seem to know what they’re talking about as well on there
Cheers
Oof 4x10tb external drives ordered, gonna get shucked and put in my freenas box when I get home 🎉 🎉
hi what should i buy shelly or sonoff or other or clone ?
yes
Hey - just got a Raspberry Pi 4 - what operating system should i install? Previously i have used dietpi (built on raspiban) since it is minimal and less writes to the SD card etc. Intregued on what y'all have running? (other than hass.io)
Is anyone aware of means of receiving magic packets (wifi to Pi) and then sending them down Eth0 to sleeping PC?
Magic packets are not routable afaik
@light trout One of my collegues has an early Cray in his garage. @clear ferry only wishes he had proper big iron like that in the garage 😂
early cray? that a type of tea?
I know, my Rx6600 and bl860c i2 doesn't count, I should pick up my customers powered off gs1280 😂
A Cray-2. Used to belong to the Irish Weather service. Mostly still works.
We just bought Cray though, does that count when I am the only guy who works with HPC in the country? 🤔 😛
Didn't even realise Cray still existed in any form
Sure they do, never underestimate the us government and their contracts 😛
Then again, there's propably old institutions like Banks paying silly money for support to keep old punch card and tape programs running for batch jobs.
Exactly
Worked in a Pharma plant years ago with a Digital Vax sytem with Terminals everywhere. All supported by HP.
I still support Alpha servers, but let my colleague handle vax 🤔
Have an Alpha at home somewhere. Just taking up space.
Bringebææærlinerweisse Grünerløkka Brygghus on Untappd http://untp.beer/b34237bd77

I've found a guide which uses something called etherwake on RPi
for routing magic packets

Been interviewing lots of people for sysadmin type roles recently. It's sort of sad the amount of candidates who don't understand the abstractions enough to debug.
For example Docker experts who aren't able to explain what underlies the various Docker network options.
I am still surprised to meet people who don't understand how a vlan works, and have been working as an it administrator for 15 years 🤔
You use vlan on your wireless device
😂
Yup. Asked a candidate a while ago to debug a simple issue which was subnet mask mismatch between two systems. Was told straight out that he was interviewing for a systems job snd that's the responsibiliy of the netadmin..
Lololololll
And I do wish that's the worst answer to a question I've got.
Like a friend of mine, who has no formal education and really is a level1 tech at best, he's had 12 jobs the last 10 years because he feels he's too good for the jobs he gets
So he just gets angry, starts complaining and saying that is below him and gets hated by everybody and eventually fired 😞
Seen that play out before.
Does the new Cloud Alexa configurator allow you to override what name is presented to Alexa?
@valid halo You can generally tell very quickly the Level 1 techs who're going to progress quickly just by the level of debug done before the issue gets escalated.
I see.
From what I understood Level 1s just have a checklist that they follow along until they reach the end and then escalate.
And those who just do that will never get anywhere
Noted.
I'll try to be more than a checklist follower than when I finally get my foot in the door
@valid halo You still using 1P?
That's how we fight. It's true
I still have the scars from the great Zigbee-Zwave slapfight of 2018
would say nay - But hey - I get another google home mini thanks to my 20$ subscription 🎉
It looks like they are rolling it into Works with google assistant
Which im okay with as the normal google home works with it
Zoooooom
Wasn't using it, might as well try to get to level 2, lol
Has anyone transitioned from PiHole to AdGuard Home?
The new integration is intriguing me
That’s his foot
Oh that explains a lot
Because he comes from a land down under
Where women dance and men flounder
Or whatever the lyrics were again 🤔
And he hands me a Vegemite sandwich
Haha you got it
CAN'T YOU HEAR CAN'T YOU HEAR THE THUNDER?

Shout out to anyone in middle /central Europe right now, stay cool
Aussie people will just call it winter
Eh it’s really not that hot in Australia compared to some places
Like India right now
How hot is Europe getting?
They are getting 35-38 today I think, and might be 40-45 at worst some places
I miss the winter..
45 is hot, no two ways about it
Come to northern Norway, we have 7-10 right now
✈
Hope my greenhouse survives, my neighbor is keeping an eye while I'm gone sine the power went out the same morning as we left for vacation
10 is about what my city has been getting to, however I am currently in Indonesia and it’s been around 30 or so and as humid as 80%
So nice
Ooof
I had 38 once in Turkey, my father's shoes were sticking to the asphalt I remember
He lost 2cms that day
Haha the direct sun would be the issue not the ambient temperature
Back home we crack 40 for about a week a year
But you only have bush and gravel! Asphalt is a luxury in Oz right? 😛
Put it on the Barbie!

Oh I try. Tomas. Oh I love your work buddy. Use your cards all the time
Don't know how to fix it on Android, but here's the link for you: https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2019/06/26/release-95/
Clicking "Release note" brings you to /latest-release-notes/ and the redirect from there is probably stuck in the cache pipes somewhere for you.
Thank you!
Got it on my PC any way. Look life 360 is on there.
This little NUC isn't a bad machine for the price and size
I would rather it be bigger and include the power supply though
Power bricks is cheating and counter productive
hello all 👋
Hello, what’s up
@hushed basalt Have had a little NUC vesa mounted on the back of my TV for Kodi duties for a while now. Really damn handy.
I used to have a pal who lived in Hammerfest. She said that was a little chilly at times...
I'll take "a little chilly" to melted sandals any day of the week
As in... down to minus 50 C in Winter
I'd rather be in mild weather than too cold or too hot
Not to get too controversial
Have experienced that @wintry crow not the best, but it's doable 😛
I prefer cold tbh, as I'm hot blooded. I can break a sweat strolling along
On holiday where it’s 30+ and up to 80% humidity for a reason
You can always add more clothes, there is a limit to what you can take off
Oh lord, Ludeus in a mankini
Cock sock
I just don’t like being cold
I can feel hot and perfectly content at the same time
In -50 I don't think 3 jackets is going to help much
It does not :/
She uses electric blankets on their diesel engines, otherwise everything just freezes
Hammerfest won't be -50, not even -30, it's by the sea, but Karasjok can get that cold
Hammerfest is a town?
I grew up in Tromsø, -12 there would chill me to the bone, but -35 inland doesn't bother me at all
Cool name
Had 43 - 47 for about a week @ Rena (Hedmark) 6y ago, that was... interresting..
It is :O
When was that?
2012 i think
That was a cold year 😛
Aye, we had -35 that year
Any Russians in here? It's driving me mad that I can't figure out what tv series a Russian guy next to me on a plane once was watching
The story was two factions of agents or something, trying to make something, one faction went to Finland to kidnap a female scientist to make something for them, they had a guy who did martial arts in a farmer's jumpsuit
The other faction was hiding in the woods trying to stop them 😂
And the story flipped between Finland and Russia back and forth
If you don't sprinkle a little emotional abuse in your support then no one will ever learn their lesson
I used to sprinkle physical abuse in when I had appreciates
flip your middle finger back now go empty those 75 desktops from the van, you can read your wow forum posts later
And that is why you don't have that anymore
Well, one of them died from heroin and the other became a lawyer, not sure who ended up worse 🤷
the lawyer
I'm inclined to agree
I had one that was sent to the storage room to do some work there, he came back super happy...
Nothing of what he was supposed to do was done, but he had tweeted 300 tweets...
@light trout is this you? https://i.redd.it/o91cwyg2u4731.png
😂
Lol
Wonder if I can add drives to my zpool via usb down the line, and expand the sata zpool with usb drives 🤔 I don't see why not, but there is probably some software limitations
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/shpi/shpi-the-only-smart-home-device-you-need ever need? how long have they playing with this stuff?
Has anyone had any luck using an ESP to open a garage door that has Security+ 2.0? It's some proprietary thing that makes it where I can't just use a dry contact relay.
I know opengarage has an adapter, but I have a bunch of NodeMCUs laying around
@amber mantle i think you just need to sacrifice a remote to the gods
And solder the contact to that switch
Or you could buy the security 2.0 adapter from opengarage
I'm not too sure what it does exactly. But it's probably just a switch to coded pulse adapter or something
W̘̗̠o͈̯̰n͇̯̱d͔̭͕e̼r̛̥ͅf͏͍̠u̵̞͓l̬̪̗,̸̺̙ ̦̜͞t̻̳͝e̻̜͜l҉̼̝̻l͎ ͚͍͢m͎̥͓e͇̩͜ ̗̮͝m̤̪͎o̢̜̤r̦̩͡e
🔥
I reached out to them to see what the deal is with the adapter
It's schematics aren't available but if its what I am looking for ill do a writeup and share it
@amber mantle I'd be keen to find out too
I know my opengarage is just a relay contact
So if the adapter talks to the relay on the opengarage it should be operable from any device that can close a circuit. Even a paperclip
Hi all, I'm Luca D'Amico and I've decided to try this software in one of my projects! I'm going to post an error that I get while completing the installation of polymer. Thanks for your kind support 😃
@astral hound Please use https://www.hastebin.com/ or https://paste.ubuntu.com/ to share code or logs.
Omg I am about to die. One of the kids is surely on her 100th time telling Alexa to do something in the past hour.
@peak cloud welcome to being a dad/paw paw
My 8 month old stares at the Google home every time I talk to it, so her first word might be hey Google 😛
mine was DADDY but maybe i am old school
45 annoying bugs to debug, 45 annoying bugs. Hunt one down, patch it around. 83 annoying bugs to debug.
That’s 0b1111111. Coincidence?
"Alexa. Ignore my children."
If only...
If only...
and people wonder why patches take so long. Gotta play whack a bug.
Ooops think my fan has been sending my sonoff crazy, whoops 😄
actually I don't think it is the switch
21:05:20 MQT: tele/BEDROOMLIGHT/SENSOR = {"Time":"2019-06-29T21:05:20","Switch7":"OFF"} that was me flicking the switch
not sure what was causing it to toggle before that
Ohh actually, that 21:05:20 message repeats every 5mins, so I guess that's more of a heartbeat, than the switch being changed
the switch state changing doesn't update in the logs, just the light setting
I'll just a pull up resistor into it when I can be bothered, I'll leave it turned off for now (pulled low)
@spiral latch Please read the channel topics
Sonoff isn't home assistant related, that's why I put it in here
Yeah I pondered over to their discord, I was more just chewing the fat, finding it funny, than asking for help
Wonder if this is any good 🤔
I used their cases in days gone by, they were pretty solid
Hell, that includes one that got bent... after some persuasion it worked just fine
Buja - Vacations is a grate thing - Live on laptop running an Arch 🤣 - only bummer - This laptop doesnt have a pipe symbol on the layout.. alt+y=» maaybe I find out wich key event this is to replace it
I might order one then @clever mortar my freenas is quite limiting with 4 bays only 😛
Lots of bays FTW
@hearty depot have you tried next to 1 on the number row?
Does anyone have both the knowedlge and the patience to remind me why getting HA to give commands to things attached to Google home isn't a thing?
@rare plover Because, currently anyway, Google doesn't allow that...
A glimpse from my previous life: https://github.com/thomasloven/mittos64
Just released to the public, because I don't have the time for it anymore.
@rare plover in a lot of ways you're also adding another layer of abstraction
There's no good reason to just not control the devices directly in homeassistant
There are a lot of things that are only supported by GA, but unless they expose that functionality, it's just a pipe dream
I can't see them wanting to do that though, as it'd make them "just" a dumb hub, and not an interface
Oh, dude. This is Nothing! Google toaru-os.
Brb I'll just create my own kernel 🤓
PonyOS: A Hobby Operating System for Everypony
😂
Also http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/ is a thing 😃
@spiral latch my problem is that the keyboard is an English layout and I'm used the German one - left of the one is ^ & °
PonyOS is an april fools version of toaru-os. Linux From Scratch is just a way to install linux.
On a English UK pipe is shifted on backslash \
English-US not sure, think its the silly key that goes where enter should be
same on Us qwerty it is above enter ....shifted \
ahh so backslash on a UK keyboard is between left shift and z
and above enter on ANSI US
Still waiting for @light trout to base hassbian on Hannah Montana Linux 🤷
It was too old

Almost set up my homeassistant cicd pipeline
Stuck at the last hurdle.
But when it works. I'll be able to just make a commit to my repo and it will copy, build, test and restart homeassistant
Infrastructure as code for life
@hushed basalt I am very interested in your setup
hi, is it possible to change lovelace card mdi icon based on state?
Welcome @midnight adder please take the time to read the channel topics 😉
ok thanks
You'll notice that Lovelace has it's own section, #frontend-archived, where you can ask questions about it, and that this channel is for non-Home Assistant chat
very good, cheers
anyone here happen to own a sony X900F
i was wondering how smart it is
probably a little more then your average rock
some sites say that its a bravia but others don't
What does Sony call it...
both with and without
the youtube videos on the product page have bravia in the title but nowhere else on the page does it ever mention bravia
i'm mostly interested in whether it can be turned on and off by hass
The features page mentions it all over
It's got built in Cast support, so... probably?
Can you buy a stupid TV now?
@light trout not really unless you're okay with monitors
Just don't connect the WiFi or wired network...
Those are pricey
yep
though then again this sony is like $1K for the 55" model
a 55" 4K goes for 750 or something
still overpriced
and fat too
I should replace my 65 with a 82 when they get reasonable 🤔
I think I measured I could fit a 95 in the current location
Or sit a little closer and save yourself some money 😛
I have terrible depth perception and I have a ridiculous living room 😂
@tacit canopy I'm using Drone io
And homeassistant etc is in Docker compose
Repository is in a private GitHub
And I use secrets in drone io to pass environmental variables into drone for docker compose
f'ing btrfs is a curse.
Idiot me for thinking its "stable" . where the hell did the wife killer go. let him out of jail and give us a real filesystem
Wife killer?
reiser
A bit before my time I think
@storm summit , 🤷♂️
"Reiser was convicted of the first-degree murder of his wife, Nina Reiser"
he made a great FS though!
I just googled both Reiser and btrfs.
whats the conclusion?
He actually plead to 2nd degree in a plea agreement
Maybe he's secretly coding in jail to bring is the FS of the future
I am just a little bit more edumacated, that is all
