i have a problem,my mqtt server get rs 485 modbus sensor's data.it's hex data,what can i do?😬
Anyone running NGINX with subdomains?
Is it possible to use variables in the configuration?
spesifically for server_name and ssl_certificatepath
@last plaza sorry someone else may have recommended it - but check out https://troypoint.com/install-set-iptv-fire-tv-firestick/
cool.... thanks @wraith temple
pretty good stuff - on a firetv too - big WAF (although the UI isnt as good as X1 on xfinity, about on par with direcTV)
free 24 hours - but then you pay for it
i'm ok paying $55 for 3 months (assuming is around for that long)
plus using a VPN works fine
oh ok...
good to test the streams etc check you have enough bandwidth
upload speeds are not usually very fast
i dreamt that i was scuba-diving again ... it's been some time since i last dived
What's everyone using for online backups these days?
facebook maintains all the backups online without being asked for free 😉
I use rclone with a range of providers, including Backblaze B2
I use Veeam to make an image to my Windows 7 box
@clever mortar are you using rclone with encryption for B2?
I am
Cool. I´m using FreeNAS Cloud Sync. It uses rclone but does not offer encryption
One could do it manually but...
Yeah, I'm old school - I like running a bare OS and doing all the fancy stuff myself so I've got full control
I like FreeNAS, but I'm much happier running FreeBSD instead 😃
Yes I´m way too lazy
It is apparently in 11.2 Beta so I´ll wait
But I´m in love with ZFS
That's why I'm running FreeBSD - for ZFS
Omg... TV on in the background for noise... Playing with HA configs, looked up and the film on is "Naked nuns with big guns" 😂
Norks all over the screen
lifetime pornhub sub huh
if you ever owned a fat ps3 don't forget to submit a claim for the other os fiasco before april 15th - http://www.otherossettlement.com
In re Sony PS3 “Other OS” Litigation
just submitted mine. took about 2 minutes
and here we just look at the apache startpage

@dry cairn posted a message that is more than 15 lines. It is now available at: https://hastebin.com/quwobesiyi
neat
oh wow... it does it automatically for you now.. that's sweet
lol
I royally screwed up....
I sat up NGINX to handle SSL to my HA a couple of days ago, that part works really good.
BUT all requests that HA saw was from the NGINX server which is on the same subnet as HA.
with this config, some one could have had easy access to my instance :P
http:
trusted_networks:
- 127.0.0.1
- 192.168.2.0/24
@light trout i did the same thing when i first set up nginx
Looks like ill have to buy some more nodeMCU's soon
trying to move Plex over to docker and getting the following error ```ERROR: Named volume "home/glenn/docker_files/plex/database:/config:rw" is used in service "plex" but no declaration was found in the volumes section.

@peak cloud whats with the DFW/TX?
Dallas Fort Worth, Texas?
agreed, San Antonio is MUCH nicer
lmao @dry cairn no, actually the horror channel! Wasn't very horrifying tbh lol
@vast dove My general area, as @clever mortar guessed. 😃
It looked rather like an airport trigraph/IATA code
guys anyone with some experience with Neo coolcam products please?
Hmm, im tempted to write a privacy policy for my home now
Have you guys seen these: https://developer.movidius.com. Seems like there are some interesting possibilities
I think I have water in my ductwork (in my slab foundation)... every time the heat kicks on the humidity in the house starts shooting up
thanks, zwave temp/humidity sensors
@copper glacier let me check
sweet, thanks
why hassio on ubuntu
you are trying to install hass-io?
don't worry... there are several options you have. Do you feel comfortable running commands? If yes, you could set it up venv
if not, docker would be an option as well.
im open, just trying to learn. Ive grown up on windows & mac tbh
it all depends on your expertise and comfort level on various things
you will learn linux pretty quickly... I'd suggest you start with this option - https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/installation/raspberry-pi/
that will work on Ubuntu without any changes. just run the commands as it is specified in the page
start from "Update the system."
don't worry - feel free to ask questions, that's why we all hang out here
@last plaza did you see the i will google for you in general..... too funny
LMAO - just saw that!!!
ive got to the point about changing to a virtual environment
when i try and enter /srv/homeassistant $ python3 -m pip install wheel it states that srv/homeassistant is a directory
@copper glacier you have to be in that directory to install
@copper glacier not that it matters at this point, but in ubuntu the package is avahi-daemon
I think
yup
I might build it my self as the one on the playstore has ads the Dev sets this, i think he counted the paypal link as one
acording the playstore
Home Assistant in Docker (not hassio) any downsides to it?
other than lack of host controll 😛
On a Pi, the usual impact to performance, on a proper PC not so much.
Beyond that, yeah, the usual Docker behaviours which are good, or bad, depending on your perspective
Installed docker in a VM yesterday xD
My ESXI server was short on recoources so I though I can probably dockerize some sevrives 😛
hey all, i am trying to do a generic install of home assistant on Ubuntu server. When i enter $ python3 -m venv .
i get venv: error: the following arguments are required: ENV_DIR
What does python3 -V show?
3.6.3
Weird
hi all.... i have a network issue that has me totally ???? can anyone help and do I just set out my issue in this chat window (sorry I'm new here)
Well, if you don't explain your problem, nobody can help you 😛
Normal setup: windows 7 machine on 192.168.1.246 can putty and vnc via powerline connector to router and 2nd powerline to pi on 192.168.1.108 and can also see homeassistant pi on 192.168.1.147. Today winows 7 has destination host unreachable on pinging 108 but can still see router on 254 and HA on 147. Another windows device logging on via wifi to same router can see all three....
108 is working fine and is accessable from 254 router... I Just dont get it.
win 7 machine had a dreaded update this morning... have rebooted many times and done troubleshoot on interfaces... it continues to see 254 router, 147 HA device and see 108 as unreachable.
108 pi also did update this morning when I reb
rebooted it
router connected devices shows 108 connected. it just doesn't seem to route win7 traffic which is on same powerline group as 108
the 2 powerline devices are working otherwise win 7 would not see 254 router etc and router woudln't see 108
Have you restarted the powerline devices?
Have you rebooted the router?
yes to router several times, no to powerlines... will go do that
thanks for interest Tinkerer
bloody powerlines BUT IT MAKES NO SENSE 😀 cheers dude
Means that one of them had a corrupt ARP cache
Hehe, the chain of tweets in Matthew Garrett discovery of Linux on that Norton router is quite funny https://twitter.com/mjg59/status/982370675007500293
The answer turns out to be to email opensource@symantec.com, an address that's not in the device docs and which tech support didn't appear to know about
what is the thing you are most proud of that you did with HA?
automating ceiling fans and blinds
Not needing to use the UI.
@light trout totally agree
i am prolly 90% there between voice commands and it just happens
My UI is so minimal now, I could probably deactivate it :P
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ludeeus/Home-Assistant-Config/master/www/current.png
really? wow! @light trout
damn really
To be fair, I don't think I use it to the degree that you do 😛
@last plaza LOL he is saying you got too much stuff LOL
@dull chasm @light trout @hazy rose mine is not much https://raw.githubusercontent.com/skalavala/smarthome/master/images/skalavala-smarthome-dashboard.jpg
😂
@light trout dammm that looks nice
damn thats not much but you gotta fix your online stuff like this
@last plaza wtf just wauw
I have to admit - the most painful part for me was the z-wave! Without @clever mortar I'd be doomed
I got like 35 z-wave devices at once, and ran into so many problems
I just read a mountain of crap documentation and forum posts
lmao
it turns the online stuff yellow
Once you've done that, it makes less sense
I don't think I will ever get to 100% voice only for lights, my name is too Welsh for most smart assistants
Automate first. Voice second. Manual last 😉
@clever mortar yea the only voice i have to use to to switch modes of the house from day to sleep... one day i willl figure out how it can tell the diff but too many varibles right now
I use voice for light over-rides, but not much else
holy cow thats a lot of stuff on your default_view
How do you make items turn yellow??
create binary sensors @Stringyb92#6054
@peak cloud significant other?
Something that pops my mind right now
Where the hell is Bruh gone to? Is Ben still alive?
@junior forge you see that guy with man boobs and dale says only weekends and you think of bruh......damn
well just the facts LOL
good question
nevertheless... Where is Ben?!
Should we start a campain, hanging out "wanted" posters on the streets?
Hey I'm looking to transfer a file in the order of gigabytes from computer A (me) to computer B, P2Ply. Computer B isn't that computer literate so I'd rather just point them to a piece of FOSS and have them click a couple of buttons without much further troubleshooting.
My question to the group is, with so many options available, does anyone have one they prefer using?
Both of these should work ```
{{ states.light.living_room.attributes["brightness"] }}
{{ states.light.living_room.attributes.brightness }}
@junior forge Ben's still alive.. new job apparently .. You can still find him on twitter https://twitter.com/BruhAutomation - @cunning garnet
bleh thank god he stopped his crap videos they caused nothing but issues
I like that git hub has a stl veiwer https://github.com/newAM/LoadCellOccupany/blob/master/LoadCell_Holder/LoadCell_Holder.stl
Has anybody tried using an RC522 RFID reader to read a Disney MagicBand?
I can read Disney Infinity figures, and am going to automate HA greeting my kids and telling them about their day when they put a specific figure near the RFID reader. I really wanted it to work with MagicBands though
what's the lowest price the Xiaomi vacuum has been? Anyone know?
the current lowest price was just below the previous lowest value
check camelcamelcamle
camels dont run to asia only amazon 😛
apparently they are about to support the xiaomi electric rice cooker LOL wonder if that kettle is far behind 😛
Whats the best way to set a light colour after a certian time without turning it on?
AFAIK you can only send a color command at turn on
ubuntu updater core getting an update....i guess v18 is around the corner now
doesn't seem so
I've been running Edgerouters at work for "some time" now - they're rock solid, never had a problem with them that wasn't our fault
The only thing I don't like is the lack of a built in RTC
" never had a problem ... that wasn't our(my) fault" too often the story of my life .... lol
Glad to hear that, which one would you guys recommend for home use?
It's the story of most techies lives I think 😃
but whenever i go down the path of trying to "fix" my problems on my erl, i end up rolling back to a backup before i tried to "fix" it and then address the real issue ... lol
The UniFi Security Gateway for your firewall, AP HD, AP AC Lite, AP AC Pro, or the new AP AC Nano for the access point as your needs dictate, and appropriate switch @pliant forge
... because that wasn't where my problem is
I'm probably going with the USG (since it can do dual WAN), AC Nano when it comes out, and eventually a 24 port switch, plus one of the PoE ones
Speaking of internet access, my google wifi point in the living room just dropped for a second...for no reason
hmm
First sign of any instability I've had in the last 3 weeks.
do you guys think 150€ is a good deal for a 3 pack of UAP-LR UbiQuiti Unifi AP Long Range SWX-UAP? some guy close to me put them up for sale
Thx
Watch that for most people, the LR units aren't the ones you want
I'm debating getting a USG to replace the edgerouter, just for better integration with the unifi interface, especially if i get one of the unifi poe switches
Sure, you can pick up a signal further away, but the chances are your device can't talk back
hm didnt think about that, good point
I've learned a lot lurking on the Ubnt forums
my house isnt going to be that big anyways lol
I'll have to check those out, I only started looking into their stuff last week
But I see many people recommending them on reddit and the forums
anyone have experience with Unifi Outdoor AP ?
@amber bramble It seems USG cannot do gigabit with DPI.
yay gearbest round 4 is here 😛
@shy comet anything good?
2 more air purifiers....i think i have a problem 😛
they are actually really helpful in a house with pets
i still need to setup my leak sensors under the sinks but that involves cleaning under them first lol
xiaomi?
@shy comet GB deals still on?
@proven flower yup xiaomi
@last plaza yea air purifier is like 136.99 ($6 higher than i paid for)....motion sensors are still at $10 each....the others are on sale but not as low as usual
yes - that's what I see...
yea i was going to pick up some more of their temp sensors but it needs to drop a lil more so 1 is free instead of paid for 😛
im still waiting for the plant sensors to be in stock
hmm i need to setup my plantlink sensors again and start using them....i think others have used their rest api for updates
which one is that/
3-4 years ago they were on clearance at home depot at $17 per bundle LOL
including the hub...needless to say i cleared out my home depot haah

Amazon is bringing eveyrhting in house they can. They sell products cheap and make money from the services. So you know thats what they're going to do.
i'm not paying em for having a doorbell
but if you already have Prime and they wrap the services into Prime, 👍
so semi-related question ... if i don't have paid ring service, will HA still show dings and motion? or is that lost as well?
damn. SONOFF is so great with tasmota. I modified a light in my kitchen, built the sonoff in. wired the switch to GPIO 14 for toggle and bam. no one knows it's there. You would not know. Except if you looked in the HomeAssistant instance where you can now trigger the light 😀
thx @slim vortex for the videos! that was the input for looking into this! 👍
for all the IT nerds our there did anyone attend blackhat or def con in las vegas?
Catching up on my RSS feed backlog I spotted this from yesterday: https://www.androidcentral.com/whats-home-assistant-and-why-should-home-automation-enthusiasts-consider-it
Closing sentence: I think anyone with more that a couple smart gadgets and even a slight interest in taking the next step really needs to check Home Assistant out.
Guys, if MQTT is only ran on my private home network, do I need to password protect it?
Lol
That was my thought - I do get para
Oh I love a learning curve.... I've setup a pass, added the lines in the conf to disable anon access and the path of the pass file, but I can stull use pub and sub to test it. No mention of auth
Did you restart the service? 🤔
Yup
Need, no. Should, yes. Same as you should use TLS still
I want to spend all the money on home automation and networking gear
Okay why is everything based on linux so damn complicated?? It's 2018...
It's easy
Well, it's easy if you've got familiarity with unix 😛
But, the same could be said of doing your own engine maintenance of your street racer
True, but if I have some thing that has dependencies, I don't want to hafta go and find them and download them separately - and they have dependencies and so on... It should pull them all in one
Spent the whole evening so far playing search and chase
So, that's usually the purpose behind package managers - aptitude for instance is very good at that, while apt-get isn't
And FreeBSD takes it to a whole new level
Oh currently I'm on KmanOZ's KmanSonoff. It reads so easy lol, until you find that the few files he shares depend on about a hundred others
Lol
with chromecast is it possible to set a cover image when playing streamed radio? The Hass and chromecast UI look so empty without any image when playing media
Question for people who develop stuff, whats the comment standards that can be parsed by a program to be used as documentation for C
Folks, using my USB dongle, with 3.3v, should my Sonoff basic LED come on? The red power LED is on, on my FTDA dongle, and if I hold in the button on my Sonoff, then plug in, I get no blue LED on the FTDA. If I don't hold the button in I get the blue LED. Flashing seems to complete, but then powering it back via the 3.3v FTDA, still no LED on the Sonoff, and nothing showing on my WiFi connected devices
Hmmm tried switching RX and TX, that failed. Changed back and the flash succeeded. Tries changing baud rate to slower, got errors. Changed back to 115200 and the flash succeeded again. Just no LED on the Sonoff. Gonna power it up to the mains, see if it just didn't get enough juice from the FTDI to power up the LED
hmm an option to stop/start your containers (Docker) from a panel might be a nice one too.. (although you can use portainer)
@violet brook how about as a switch? 😜
https://github.com/ludeeus/custom_component_hadockermon
you read my mind
About the whole Tinkerer everyone ping the otherday, why was @everyone permission enabled in a non #announcements channel
I want to ping the admins, but i dont feel like it worth it
so you can ask dumb questions 3 days later
@quaint tapir - glad to help. @dry cairn that guy has too much hair to be me
@pure vine It was enabled for mods in the event that they needed to use it. It has since been disabled and is now only able to be mentioned by admins.
To reduce the chances I do it again 😛
@light trout it tags them as switches, would it be an option so that it can give them entity's like switch.docker.* would that not make grouping easier?
@violet brook Ill see what I can do, but how about switch.container_* instead?
whatever you want to name it 😉 as long as you can easilly group it its fine ;p
otherwise you get that..
and i never know when i spin up a docker for something new again 😉
btw, the examples show an 192.168.x.x address, if you run the default ha-dockermon that would imply that anyone on the network can manage your containers, so its nicer to use 127.0.0.1
Well they can :P
The component also support mulitipe ha-dockermon instences so there is an need for 192....
only no username/pwd support for it yet to keep that "closed" ;p
dockermon has that, I have it on the docs for v2 😛
i can have random folks on my network via guest wifi, rule of thumb is to keep it all nicely closed for myself (bit nerdy..)
Then you should be able to seperate the guest wifi to an differnt lan 😛
toesjee, or how the french call it ?
Something like that 😛
i never got that to work properly, even though i have unifi. It should work great but what i wanted didn't work..
the more funny part was moving unifi including dhcp to my NUC, only my NUC had dhcp too, well if you restart the NUC.. well you get the id 😉
dhcp to get ip that is
🤦
We could call it a "Tinkerer" event.. ;p
Maybe a dumb question, updated to latest version.
Got this in log:
Invalid config for [discovery]: value is not allowed @ data['discovery']['ignore'][0]. Got 'philips_hue'.
What to do?
discovery:
ignore:
- philips_hue
@gleaming valve It was intentionally removed in 0.67.0.
@peak cloud okay, that easy.. Thank you, where in the docs can I read it? 😃
@gleaming valve It is not in the docs yet, but I just proposed we make the changes after replying to your message 😃
@peak cloud thank you, then I didn't miss it! 😃
Here is the GitHub issue, though: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/issues/13880
Its kinda lonely in the voice chat 😦
I'd join, but all you'd hear would be the sounds of a boy screaming (in laughter thankfully) at his friends on X-Box live 😛
LOL
lol
Hi all. Random question. I’m looking at making a temperature sensor. I am looking for a waterproof sensor in which I can solder on a DS18B20. I need it to be battery powered also. Has anyone got any ideas ?? Thanks
@copper glacier There are plenty of waterproof temp probes that use 1-wire protocol I think.
get a probing sensor
@copper glacier a wemos d1 mini and the ds18b20 .....easy pisy
Hi; I would like to know the best way to use a switch in order to receive signals from "smoke detectors, movement detectors and windows (crash) detectors"
Do you have any recomendations ?
Thank you very much
All your examples sounds like binary sensors would be better than switches
but.. when we are talking about switches is a "hardware" where all the binary sensors are connected.
is that correct ?
or am I wrong?
Not necessarily, all switches are devices, but not all devices are switches
then; where do I have to connect all these binary devices?
Power + some communication channel would be a good start, like MQTT/WiFi/RF
Thank you @light trout
@serene mortar I had never really looked into what Bloomsky is until i was browsing your repo. Has your experience been good with it? Looks very intriguing
good deal ... i was looking at netatmo but was always weary because there are some negative review points that seem to be more than noise .. and well ... cost
@serene mortar Hi, i was following your code for the 7 day forecast on Dark Sky. It was showing the days of the week yesterday, but today it has gone back to showing Third, Forth, Fifth. However when i click on the sensor it shows the actual day name. Any ideas ? Thanks
ive just moved the automation to my automation.yaml file and rebooted but nothing
clear cache may be
it shows the same across all devices,
would it be because ive ran out of my 1000 calls to Dark SKy for the day?
seems the only different thing
just so that I understand correctly, you are not seeing the right friendly_name
friendly_name do not require darksky calls
The person who came up with bright blue LEDs should be tortured with a dull spoon....
No blue like burning out my eyes blue
yep thats it
those are 10w uv blue
its just not as bright because its in the radio
those led's will leave a shadow on your retina lol
Why can't they just make dim soft white LEDs?
they do
Blue just needs to die
there's no bath/shower/sauna mdi icons? 😢
and no armchair icon either...
Just made this for my Default view
Uses the met office definitions https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/datapoint/support/documentation/code-definitions
It also sends a notifycation when the Metoffices UV forcast changes
@orchid rose : Font Awesome has them lol, not sure if HA supports FA yet tho
would be great, the google one is lacking lots of stuff
HADashboard uses font awesome, you could always try using a dash instead?
I like the standard look of the UI fine so I don't think it's worth to start with dashboard or anything
would be great to have something like fa support though
Hmmm not looking like HA supports FA - there's a feature request but doesn't look like it's been fulfilled
ye, saw that as well. Sad
You could rob the icon, and set it as a local image
Bit of a faff but would look the same tbh
local stuff doesn't support the colors etc, right?
I posted the icon set for you 10 min ago, but ok...
I saw that crusader, but no clue how to implement it lol. Any accompanying doc? 😛
Download to <config>/www/fa.html and use fa: as prefix
thanks a ton, I'll try that when I have time
Oh nice, thx
Does hassbian use docker when you ssh in?
Anyone here know what this is? https://imgur.com/a/VwQVq (The Blue component)
It looks like it’s just a capacitor... idk though

Because those are ceramic capacitors around it
Gathering Opinions: What's the best security camera to use with Home Assistant? I'm looking for one that shows video on the HA Overview page and can use motion detection as a trigger.
anyone know how to integrate telegram bots in to a group chat?
@slim vortex I'm happy with my hikvision (I'm using the mjpeg feed + an mjpeg proxy)
that's 2 votes for hikvision. I'll have to get one.
DS-2CD2142FWD-IS is the model I have
thanks
couldn't get the fa icons from above to work. Can anyone help me out? I put the html-file to the folder and used fa: as prefix but no error and no icon
Going back to the blue LED's, they were really difficult to invent, and without them we wouldn't have blu-ray devices. The bloke who invented them had to do so at his own expense when his employers stopped the project, but when he succeeded they made a fortune off them.
He had to sue them in the end to get any kind of real bonus, he won but had to use the payout to pay his legal fees, so didn't really get anything.
He did however win the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2014, along with 2 other scientists who did the early groundwork in the 60's
that would have been a real sad story if he wasn't awarded the noble prize
blue leds are cool, m'kay
notice subwoofer eats 40-50W while idle - quickly automate it to only turn on when watching a movie and time is before 23:00
41.7€ per year saved right there
@orchid rose what kinda sub u got?
some used Dali sub I bought with a blown amp and put a Hypex DS 2.0 on it
nice I have a Dayton Sub-1500....love it but never paid attention to the wattage usage lol
thats pretty funny lol
@shy comet this is blue:
that is indeed blue but what about light blue 😛
Super light blue like almost white? 😛
like almost grey 😛
hahaha

Open Reach recently put up the FTTP infrastructure in my area
Ah, if you read through the details, you'll see it's not going to mean FTTP for everybody, they're going to leave copper in, this is just about the telephony component
yeah, Im glad they are moving to VoIP it might slightly improve copper connections becuse you not having to juggle broadband and phone
when you don't have a 3d printer and need something in a hurry 😃
@pure vine so I work for a construction company and we've just put FTTP in on a development. it's an interesting conundrum so we tell them it's the future, super fast speeds etc.. they move in, ring up Sky (or whoever) and are told that they currently don't operate on that network (in fact they haven't had a need or an inclination to installed the fibre switch gear in the local exchange).. the customer rings us up, tells us they want to go back to "standard fibre stuff"and we tell them "sorry 'mam that's no longer an option on our developments, however bt do offer the service"
Hmmm, BT or nothing - that's a pretty hard choice 🤣
That said, for 500 Mb/s down, I might put up with them while waiting for other providers to catch up
Exactly, so I ended up having to try and negotiate with sky networks team as we were getting so many complaints.. We're the first developers on a 4000unit scheme, so only about 300 houses are built and occupied currently. Sky basically said ring us again when there's over 2000 people there and we'll consider it
Somehow, with Sky, I'm not that surprised
Lol, yup!
Sky are odd, they are try and be special, like you have about 5 choices with BT FTTP including Zen
Also sky are rip offs for broadband
@midnight adder
is there a list of color names that google home understands?
someone is suggesting it is only html colour names @orchid rose https://www.reddit.com/r/googlehome/comments/6cnf2x/google_home_understands_html_color_names_phillips/
not nearly all of those seem to work though. Could be also my shit pronunciations though
and the subreddit has a wiki https://www.reddit.com/r/googlehome/wiki/hue_colors
reddit: the front page of the internet
actually now that I'm testing it the html colors do seem to work. Must have been the hue colors I was testing previously
so it seems to be more than html colors, but less than hue colors
I guess I just need to learn few of the favorites to use
git pros: I accidentally rm'ed my hass folder and copied over a backup... now git status / commit works no longer... "fatal: unable to read 68c7c2e37d1c1bc88...."
is there a quick fix?

That's wonderfully evil 👍
Well, most ecosystems based upon trust are broken, but it's good that you've called attention to it
Now we'll just have to wait, what, 5 to 10 years, before somebody fixes it, or develops a replacement protocol 🙄
10% of all the key requests in Europe (and not only europe) where handled by my little server (for months!)
That's pretty good going
Well the issue at hand here
I could easily created relations between keys... person A requesting keys for person B
maybe even the other way around
you know you are a big nerd when you are about to "go dark" from social media to avoid spoilers for a movie 😛 anyone else planning to do the same for Infinity War lol
I went dark from social media, and no spoilers here 😛
haha
I follow people who dont spoil stuff and dont realy care if it is spoiled
Is the aprecium role for letting users upload images to channels with it off
@pure vine yes
so if you have android and use Google Now and plan to watch Infinity War.....do not use the feed until after you watch it....spoilers are already showing up
Yup, I've seen the headlines 🤷

What’s the cheapest you guys have seen the Yeelight Smart Light Strips?
Is the question too random? 😂
@vocal rampart posted a message that is more than 15 lines. It is now available at: https://hastebin.com/avucufafuv
ask in general instead
did that
🤦
@Borys#4961 what port is it running on, i had issues if it was running the emulated hue on the non-standard port
Oh, hes gone
Lets hope he comes back later
Damn it has been a while since I've learned a new programming language
I'm kinda feeling like an idiot using Google this much
what language are you learning?
I'm trying to use Python on a more serious level now... I can read it pretty darn good, used it for small stuff in the past
and even did PR's on existing code
but creating an app from scratch... well whole new thingy
@mortal yoke check your settings?
Oh I can change it globally, but that isn't what I want
It is my OCD talking. Lol
It is a per server setting as I remember. And the option isn't available here
I'll just deal if it is not desired
@mortal yoke I changed it
@last dirge tyvm
Can someone tell me which part of this code is the update interval for the MQTT messages? I got it to work, but not sure how often it updates: https://gist.github.com/mtl010957/9ee85fb404f65e15c440b08c659c0419
looks like it L128 and then a force at L134
alright and there seems to be some system that just prevents the updates on serial monitor if the number doesn't change
seems to work. Now I'll get a google tts message in Finnish when the sauna is up to temperature 😃
That is good, assuming you live there, otherwise that would be confusing 😅
haha
i was thinking same thing ... i was like finnish ...sure would not know what the heck she said
if she's talking you doing it wrong
anyone in OC area?
as in Orange County? @short zodiac I am in the SFV 😛
My homeautomation and network packed up for the move all in a nice hardcover suitcase
Anyone done much digging into riot.im and/or Matrix in general? I like the promise of it all, for sure.
It looks like someone set up a bridge to the old gitter.im Home Assistant room, so there must be a little curiousity.
i've tested it out a few times
@rugged fjord I can't paste img in #330944238910963714 :
raspberry pi listening for 433mhz remotes (elekcity), POSTing over to my home assistant install via /api/states/binary_sensor
I think an MQTT bridge is probably the more correct solution here, but it works and it's fast
@wintry eagle looks good are you using 4G for you internet connection?
Yeah
Do you have any issues getting back into your network from external locations as you will have a double nat to get through? @wintry eagle
Oooh, just noticed I'm a Jedi! I always wanted to be a Jedi!
☝ the force is strong in this one 😃
You definitely do.. it looks so sad and blue right now
@north bane is that the mqtt event stream stuff?
@dusty pasture traffic from some openmqtt GWs -- mosquitto_sub into ccze for colors
@north bane I see that in the command, I was just wondering what was publishing those things 😄
@dusty pasture https://github.com/1technophile/OpenMQTTGateway/wiki
cool, thanks!
https://about.clasohlson.com/en/media-press/press-releases/2018/clas-ohlson-launches-smart-news-for-the-connected-home/ These works with HA, they are just repackaged Broadlink (SP2/SP3) switchs 😃
pack of 5 for SEK 999, is not bad 😃
You can probably find some use for 3 more 😛
maybe if they had some monitoring functions as well but just for switches I got couple of lamps and maybe one amp I need to turn on and off
dimmer would be nice as well but can't have everything I suppose...
These are 16A, so they should be able to handle aplliances well
Clas Ohlson bringing to you today what chinese sold you for 25% of the cost yesterday
well at least it takes a couple of months less to get it 😄
anyone know how servo motors work? I'm thinking of making a nodemcu project to turn the timer knob of my sauna. Will it stay locked in the position it was turned or will it go idle and let the timer run as normal?
don't trust my engineering and coding skills enough to just let it be fully controlled by nodemcu 😄
it'll prolly stay since the manual clock prolly has not enough power to turn the servo
hmm, any way to get around that?
other than trusting myself in not fucking it up and burning down the house that is
remove the ancient manual thing and let the mcu do it and a set of relays
it's a rental so I'd like to stay away from most of that, but yes that would be the best way
well prolly a timerand a temp sensor somewhere
should be pretty straight forward I guess and can steal the power from there as well
temp sensor is connected to another switch which I don't really need to tinker with. All I need is to be able to turn it on
ye I already have a temp sensor on a nodemcu so might as well put it in the same one
couldn't find any ready made solutions that go up to 80-100C temperatures so had to diy
i'd use the one from the sauna
yeah could use that one as well I guess but yeah I need to open it up and see how it's all connected
prolly inside the heater
there's some internal temperature sensor somewhere, but not sure if I want to do anything to it tbh
well prolly a good idea to use those
I could just leave it as is so it cuts off the power the way it does now and just have the turn on/off function. Not sure why I'd care to know the internal temperature
So you know if it's on fire 😛
by that time it's a bit late isn't it 😄
but you woould know in ha
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lp0_on_fire - you never know when you need that kind of warning 😉
would have to know what type of a sensor it is etc to do anything with it anyway 😄
that engineering humor though
pretty sure that happened
I've seen smouldering start courtesy of an old line printer - never quite got to the fire status before it was dealt with
i had an old minolta 3 drum laser that would cook paper
Yeah, I've seen brown paper exit a few old lasers
Newer ones seem to be much lower temperature
Old school thermal wax printers were also fun hazard sources
hrhrhr
just remembered that the sauna is a three phase system so I might have to do some reading before I move forward with my idea 😛
anyone else using nginx?
my cert seems to have renewed, but having issues connecting - certbot-auto confirms uptodate
is there any other steps folks are aware of?
u try restarting nginx after the change?
thats usually all i need to do when i update mine. i do mine manually as I have other apps in other devices that get updated
anyone here that can help with fstab in stretch?
@maiden estuary the diskusage of home assistant
I have just remebered i have some giant Directorys that used to be minecraft servers
haha, I was going to say if thats all Home Assistant then somethings going wrong 😛
Also, OpenReach poles are CE marked now
Ahh, it's mainly because BBH ltd is owned by the Finnish company scanpole http://www.scanpole.com/
@maiden estuary i found what was using all my disk, it was the log for my discord bot
@orchid rose not fully read the back story however if you are looking at turning on big loads like a sauna or hot tub then you could consider using SSR (Solid State Relay) can be triggered from 3 - 30vdc and can switch 250v ac upto 100A depending on SSR you buy so I use a 5v dc supply switched through a relay (Sonoff ch4 Pro) to drive my 2 hot tubs sauna and heat pump. hope that helps sout if you need to know more.
cool, thanks I'll read into that
dead easy and very cheap SSR £5 - 20 40A - 100A ebay or amazon
I always go for at least double the rating of the current I wish to switch
can u give a link to one? I'll do some research tomorrow when I have time
Finland, so 230V
UK ebay but are available most places
love Finland been ages since I was last there
it is worth putting the higher switching ones on a heat sink
so ST hub v3 LOLOL
While I am planning for smartthings in my new apartment, I found ST v3 hub is now approved by FCC last week. Should I wait? https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Samsung_SmartThings_Hub_v3_(STH-ETH-300)
with apparently less RAM than gen 2 :/
shouldn't be that high current, I'll have to check
experience is the higher the rating the longer they last and the cooler they run - mine have been working for over 7 years
it'll be something like 6kW I think, so that's 26 amps in three phases
oh you switching three phase they do do a three phase version
hmm, okay
you can do it with three singles but nicer with one unit
yeah was thinking about doing it that way but those look much nicer 😛
I have used these on a food extruder to control heaters and switched on and off many times per minute and they were great
I'll have to open it up to see how it's built to see what to do
My understanding of electronics is pretty poor, but what could possibly go wrong.. Other than burning down the building...
well if you want any further help shout
Is it possible to have the relay on the negative end of the circuit? In a three phase system there's no current there, right?
that's the theory at least, right?
there is current every where it flows up the live cable and down the negative on single phase
on three phase it depends on how its connected delta or star but there is always current flowing in one direction or another
be careful if in delta as the voltage wil be close to 400v
ye
but as the loads are equal the current should be close to zero there right? If it works as I think it does
a 250v shock nips but a 400v shock bites big time
I'll make sure I'll turn off the shit before I start tinkering with it 😄
if you draw up how it is wired i will take a look and answer your question fully
the one I opened up was three phases each running a resistor with a shared ground
the one I have, I'm not sure about, I'll have to open it up
sounds like a star setup but sketch it up when you get chance I tend to look on here most days so if you @ me I will see it
in such a case the only current running in the negative end would be the currency difference between the resistors?
@bold osprey that first SSr you posted needs active cooling
even at 12v 20A it gets hot as balls
at 30A the cooler needs a fan
@dry cairn ok they do ones that only need passive did not check the full details - I have 20 40A and 6 100A SSR running on basic back plate of the panel for the 40A and the heat sinks for the 100A switching and been working many years
but well spotted thanks would hate for the wrong one to be purchased
some googling seems to confirm that it is usually a star setup in these
i got that 1st one you posted running it on a 3d printer and it needs active cooling
i have melted one before 😛
haha, gonna watch out for that
you are better than me then lol I do tend to use a double rated SSR to the load as it does keep the temp down
can one of you say if I'm just flat out wrong in thinking I could avoid the warming issue running the relay on the negative end in a star setup?
still needs to be able to handle the full current ofc in case something goes wrong
good question
i'd just cool it lol
i put a fan on the heatsink that turns on when the relay switches
the star point is used as the neutral and can be used as an earth point but the cables going back to the star point will carry current and this only cancels out at the connection so yes you are wrong as for current to flow it has to have a closed circuit
hmm, okay
and you would be breaking its flow
I need to dash now as been on the go since 03:00hrs but check the set-up message me and I will find a link to explain it to you
I'll need to get my head around it. Just started to understand what the point of a three phase system is anyway a few weeks ago 😛
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the help and ideas!
welcome night all
now that I think of it, a perfect 3-phase star system wouldn't even need a negative cable to run, so having a relay there would do nothing
@eager trench well its no secret i am not a hassio fan
this is third times. whenever I updated from hass.io web-gui. raspberry won't boot up.
and when I ping it.. it said sever fail..
@pine wind fouth time it is hassio 🤣
you may be too impatient. Pi3B?
Pi3B. yes.
@pine wind you don't happen to have any Broadlink devices do you?
does anyone know a good device tracker
@shy notch - hows it going at Ubiquity? enjoying it I hope?
yeah, still can't believe they've invested so heavily in a product that isn't in there wheel-house but hey.. great news for us 😛
glad your enjoying it though!
Still trying to find a new balance
Now that I work during the day on Home Assistant, need to find different hobbies for evenings and weekends 😉
get to your desk like you know where it is..... do all the fun onboarding stuff
haha, get your self a drone 😛
+1 for the drone!!
Fishing
better yet, build yourself a drone... 😉 more fulfilling
haha well I won't be able to carry that around
So we're travelling and working right now
Used to live in San Diego
But now in NYC till July 5th
then will move to Denmark, Netherlands and Germany for the rest of the year
Back in SD in January
Since all my work is in the cloud anyway
traveling sounds like a great hobby 😃
@last plaza seeing that pic and who has been in the room this afternoon it is hard not to think about my old bot command ~wisdom that linked to this blog post https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2016/01/19/perfect-home-automation/ definitely enforces the correct use of input devices
i am one of those that is in the camp of using both a smart switch and smart bulb if i want more than dimmer control of the lighting style ... one of those beta vs vhs discussions that never end
if you must....discourages but allows if necessary and looks nice
may the 4th be with you today! 😉
That's the state of the news today. No good news! 😭
May the 4th be with you guys.
Well, somebody did! 🤣
well props to that old fart for getting some
good on Logitech for updating quickly!
LOL no doubt
anyone available for some basic troubleshooting?
Im having issues installing from scratch. I cant seem to make it past the update stage
Try #330944238910963714 (hint - read the channel descriptions)
Yelloooooooo Mods, the myusps package is asking for the older myusps 1.3.2 install instead of using the current myusps 1.3.2 install. message: "myusps 1.3.2 has requirement requests==2.12.4, but you'll have requests 2.18.4 w wich is incompatible."
.backup
Be sure to regularly, automatically, back up your Home Assistant install. There are various critical files and configuration options (like the Z-Wave network key), plus all your time. Hass.io has snapshots, and for unix type installs see https://blog.ceard.tech/2017/10/backing-up-home-assistant.html. Oh, and most important of all test your ability to restore regularly.
Anyone used Simplepush.io in the last few months? Looks closed now
Morning all
I have to replace my home alarm and want to incorporate it into hassio - any suggestions on the best way to do this I can wire the hardware to a second Pi with AB Electronics IOPi boards and use MQTT to send sensor and switch states to hassio or is there a better way? Every door has a sensor and every room a PIR sensor
Definitely use homeassistant!
So much more flexible than any off the shelf security system.
Pretty sure somebody on the forum posted their write up of replacing a wired alarm system with a bunch of ESPs and integrated to HA via MQTT
I'm running the mqtt ha panel. Have another python app I wrote for any authentication required for alarm (RFID details, Bluetooth MACs.
Of course, asking in #330944238910963714 would get you more @Pete#3802 (hint, read the channel descriptions)
My RFID scanner runs on a NodeMCU
@clever mortar @thorny swallow i think you guys are looking for this. I remember this guy was on the HA podcast. https://www.vcloudinfo.com/2017/06/building-my-home-alarm-system-hardware.html
Tinkerer is away for 21m 5s with a message :point_right: I reject your reality
Hmm, something is making me doubt that Openreach
@vale shale Thanks.. that looks interesting. I've already got my alarm working pretty well. I'm using ha mqtt panel as the master control for it; but my RFID reader is ESP2688 based and I have my own python app that does the authentication of tokens (that i'll be moving to appdaemon soon)
@thorny swallow hi I am looking to change my broken alarm system and want to have access to all sensors door and pir. Was thinking of using a Pi to read conditions and mqtt to message. How does your system work as sounds like you have it cracked
@clever mortar I posted in general too but as I wish to build it on hassio though here was good too
Tinkerer is away for 12h 34m 20s with a message :point_right: I reject your reality
@vale shale thanks for this article.
😁
Anyone running a Synology with btrfs?
@agile sinew How has it been working out for you? I had a NAS-pocalypse at home and I need to reprovision my volumes. Btrfs support was released years after I had initially set it up, so I never got to play around with it.
Been working fine so far
Does anyone know of a decent 3d printing shop online where you can upload your design and have them print it and ship it out to you?
any windows users here take the april update yet? saw a few posts about it being a bit of a mess lol
I did. Biggest issue is I had to reinstall my RSAT tools at work
ah ok and thats a non-uwp app huh?
i heard those are the most impacted by this....almost sounds like ill have to reconfigure kodi 😦
@shy comet i have had issues with my machine randomly feezing
wow really? is your PC fairly new?
thats odd i had 2 machines with btrfs take a shit last night
and my nuc is kinda funky

wonder what announcements are being made today
When does it start?
im excited we can finally say "turn off this light and that light" instead of "turn off this and turn off that"
ok these assistant calls are really crazy right?
yeah those are going to be weird
it was pretty awesome though lol like it becoming more of a REAL aassistant if it can do that
prank call potential lol
yea I was just thinking id love to listen in on that call
digital wellbeing? wtf lol
for anyone interested....ADT-2 sign up form......https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdtcy_AeWAuwGlFF1nxbieoxPeuRPDICGucicWcVbMsi5knYg/viewform
just switched to eero - but while integration is figured out - is it possible for a DD-WRT router to be on the network and see everything that is connected?
i'm guessing you could have the DD-WRT router do DHCP, and disable eero's. but wondering if there was another way to authorise the DD-WRT router to see all the traffic (and thus report out what is/isnt present 😉 )
got a $25 amazon gift card. what kind of HA gear should i blow it on 😛
anyone here can help out with a nodemcu? Are all the d1,d2,d3... connectors the same? I can't seem to get my BME280 sensor to work on D3 or D4, just 1 and 2...
my guess is they are but I'm pointing to them wrong in the code
Has it been brought up that "WAF" is a pretty non-inclusive term?
I don't personally care, but my friend is doing some woodwork and asked a question about which design would be better. I asked what the WAF of both options were, and then had to explain that. Which was odd for a same sex couple...
PAF - Partner Acceptance Factor
FAF - Family Acceptance Factor
(given the UK term "faff", the latter seems quite appropriate)
Noob Acceptance Factor? 😛
personally i treat WAF as more of a joking and yet serious subject since its more about consideration than anything
but everyones experience is so wildly different....some people literally dont want their spouse to change a light switch while others are ok with it
new google assistant voices are live now FYI
setting is buried in google home app, where u set the weather preference
seems to work. Put mine on the second option now
the conversation thing (hot mic) isn't available yet though is it?
they sound like crap nothing like the demo they showed
they finally updated the routines as well so you can make your own instead of the pre-made ones
not that i need them now that i use HA 😉
@dry cairn yea the male voices seem to be less digitized but female #5 seemed good enough to me lol
the hot mic is def not avail yet as you will see the lights on google home stay on indicating its still listening
@gilded dome i h onestly havent played with routines yet lol i guess i dont have a need for them
I think they sound just like the demo. And the wavenet voices have been available to mess with at https://cloud.google.com/text-to-speech/ for a while now. The duplex demo was completely different.
i cant wait until the assistant can screen calls to get rid of robocalls and telemarketers and wrong numbers lol
that can actually happen based on the duplex demo too
yeah, those were obviously recorded phrases able to be remixed as necessary and intended for a specific task.
still very cool
yea for sure, I was a bit mindblown when it used the word "um"
the "duplex handling interruptions" here is funny https://ai.googleblog.com/2018/05/duplex-ai-system-for-natural-conversation.html
wow those other ones are cool
it looks like Multiple Actions are live for me now too....previously i had to say "turn this off and turn that off" now i can say "turn this and that off"
nope she ignored me 😭
same here.
i think the light is suppposed to stay on indicating its still listening
I assume the lights will stay on
yeah lol
I just wasn't looking at mine when I tried it just now
i just came across this good summary too: https://www.blog.google/topics/developers/all-io18-announcements/
haha yea
im just happy i dont have to say the entire command each time
all i really want now is the ability to react off a google home timer in hass
https://www.instagram.com/p/BimnSEOhDNu/ 70 more rick and morty episodes!!!!!!!!!!
saw that lol
thats more than double the amount of episodes they currently have too....31
Is there any cookbook for automation or script ? like I can use as reference
@pine wind there is a cookbook on the website and you are also free to browse on github, many users have their configs online for you to look at and refer to
The cookbook is a list of example automations and can be found at https://home-assistant.io/cookbook/. The cookbook also contains links to find people's GitHub copies of their installs.
There's lots of examples throughout the docs
wow.. awesome. Thanks.
Guys, anyone use a HA-compatible wifi module for remotely controlling a ceiling fan?
Would like to get that added before the summer
Where are the australian accents and english accents?
polly
My current domain subscription is about to end.
Now browsing for another company to take my money 💸
Anyone got an opinion on a company that is considered "better" than the rest?
I'm now using one.com
I'm very happy with name.com - they do basic DNS hosting if you need it, and support 2FA (which IMO is a key requirement these days)
I actually use Route53 for my DNS, for historical reasons, since it costs peanuts
I see route53 is in my history, must have looked at it before :P
will ceck name.com also, thanks 😃
I like too that they have an option to email me on every login - for the really paranoid 😛
Route53 has a good API allowing you to integrate LetsEncrypt DNS challenges, do dynamic DNS, and all sorts of funky stuff I barely understand
sold!
Cisco Unified Communication Server sucks to upgrade.....
Then don't do it ;)
@light trout I have to, its a lab system for a customer issue
Just say you did it, and go for a beer instead 🍻
lol
We do have a kegerator in the kitchen, but I don't drink beer....
I prefer hard liquor
I wish a "recessed" light switch existed. A standard switch, set deeper into the box. So that way I could have a physical on-off switch but buried behind a lutron pico remote.
My ceiling fans use the wink zigbee modules, so i wired them always on and put a lutron pico remote where the switch used to be. but there's been a couple times they've needed power cycled and it would be great not having to throw a breaker to do that
especially since the idiots that wired my house put 2 entire bedrooms (lights and outlets both) plus a bathroom on a single circuit
wow talk about old school....Battle Bots is back!!!
battle bots was great
i wonder if they'll put the episodes up online afterwards. i don't have tv service anymore 😦
🤐
lf> LED gurus with experience in long led runs, help is appreciated and if is willing to help, I can offer payment for his/her time.
Anyone here crazy enough to connect a sata blueray player to a laptop using a usb 3.0 adapter
@pure vine physical media? Is this 2005? Haha. Sorry, I can’t help.
@celest pulsar try and get decent surround sound out of Netflix, I also like to have physical copies of my media edit: I may have realised that was sarcasm after sending the message
Haha. Yep. That being said I Store all of the movies that I care about on my nas drive encoded with surround. So I do keep “physical” copies per se.
@pure vine
I have some ripped as MKV's to my sever, but problem is, Blu-ray's are huge
I do find it interesting how Kodi has the best audio codec support out of of the devices in my setup
man, the ubiquiti uvc-g3 cameras have shot up in price quite a bit
i like my ubiquiti cam, but $180 is steep. Kind of makes me want to look at other options
also they don't come with PoE injectors anymore :/
never used the injectors
i can get 3 of them for the price of a uvc-g3 and form the videos i've seen posted the image quality looks pretty close
anyone got recommendations for a decent 16 port PoE switch?
Anyone using Ikea pir-sensor? Whats the batterylife on that? It says 2 years, but I have 2 ikea remotes and those say also 2 years but battery died after 6 months.
@dry cairn you deal with a lot of ubiquiti gear right?
@amber bramble I have a crap ton of PoE injectors for sale on my Amazon store...
i managed to find a unifi switch 24 port PoE for MSRP instead of $200 above MSRP so i ordered it, should get it today
hoping its the model that supports both 802.3af and ubiquiti's passive poe standards..
For anyone in the UK with a freesat compatible 4k telly(this was only announced in January and there are not a lot of compatible boxes) there is a UHD test channel on number 998
obviously this is a hammer operated computer
Lol
🤦
they will kick you in the nuts for 1k
wth you doing?
?
they be pissed lol
well what can i say
gonna be short lived knowing your payment history
well lemme know how that works out
you have no idea what you in for
you'll figure it out sooner or later
and you don t pay
bad business model
🤷
Just tried some cucumber habanero hard cider
alright time for Deadpool 2 in Dolby Cinema 😃 opening nights are my fave for comic book movies!

Any Cloudflare users that want to test a component to update DNS records? 😃
HassIO for Android TV (In development) 😄
Sorry about the portuguese text... but i guess you guys kinda understand
Nice @twin axle
A little video preview how it should work
Im not a very good designer
but i guess it fits for the daily use
And ofc... everything thx to the HassIO restAPI
❤
From the comments on every update, people must be doing something wrong if their broadlink thing breaks every update
@twin axle it only supports hassio and not regular HA?
@light trout Hass.io contains a Home Assistant Instance but is an implementation of it I think
so there are some differences in how it's used - some custom utilties and install specific config, plus some flexiblity limitations
but also some bonuses for ease of use
@willow widget I know the difference 😉 my "post" is missing a /s 😛
lol = )
@willow widget Also https://www.home-assistant.io/faq/#home-assistant-vs-hassio 😉
A didn't realize the UI went away - cool
Hass.io is more a "wrapper" for Home Assistant, to make life easier for those who want an appliance like experience, than an implementation of it
Yeah I knew it added a bunch of extras and runs in a container - Thanks for the link - that clarifies it a bit
No worries
@magic pilot works with a stock version of HomeAssistant ... Even on local network or even remote ;) ! Cheers
I am running HA on RPi3, looking for an upgrade. I like Intel NUC but isn't it overpowered just to run a HA instance. I have a QNAP TS-251, while running docker HA instance the CPU was at 95% so I don't want to go that route. Any thoughts are appreciated.
What are you guys running HA on.
RPi 3 😉
I think I burned my SD card today morning.. And for the past two weeks I had to restart the PI due to the crashed
crashes*
It really shouldn't crash unless you're using a mobile charger instead of a power supply, or your power supply is poor
SD cards should last at least a year even under heavy writes, at least if they're decent ones
Lots of folks have upgraded to NUCs though
I will replace the charger, but I believe it had enough juice.
2.4A minimum, able to sustain at least 5V
If it's massively underpowered you'll have a blinking red power LED
sudo vcgencmd get_throttled will show 0x0 if the supply is good
Good to know. I was using the USB of a plug adapter, probably that could be the reason.
2.1A I believe
Almost enough, but whether it can sustain 5V is the other question
Lots start dropping the voltage as the amps increase
There was RF transmitter and DHT22 hooked up on the GPIO's, may those needed more jucie
Almost certainly
One more thing I noticed is my logbook got useless after 1 day, is it common if using the default sqllite?
Not normally after a day in my experience
Normally takes me about 5 days for it to stop behaving - it's the speed of the I/O (or lack of) causing timeouts I think
16GB SanDisk - Ultra 32GB class 10, is considered a good card right
I have the smartthings bridge, there lot of mqtt going though it. Will try selectievely excluding stuff
Thankyou @clever mortar
No worries
You can move the database to a USB thumb drive, that's what I did
It buys you a little more I/O since it's now over two devices
is it easily configurable to do so
Pretty easy
You need to shut HA down for a bit of it, and for the last bit if you do it you need to reboot
shit.. I am using Hassio is this possibile?
Ah
