i hear things are bad in india right now because most of the big consulting companies (accenture, infosys, etc) are no longer hiring people straight out of college and keeping them on the bench for projects

u gotta caluclate what your raises have been the last 10 years

from my experience you can get 10-12K raise by switching jobs

@shy comet I have a palo-alto firewall at home - which is what we have in our data centers, super powerful and advanced... I get automatic updates of malware/ad lists... and on top of it I use pihole, OpenDNS and local hosts file filtering.... I have not seen ads in my network for a very long time... I love it!

we used to be limited to frontier DSL and comcast cable. then a fiber company came to town and buried a ton of fiber

and it was awesome. fiber to my house. it's only gone down once when a contractor dug up a trunk line

compared to paying comcast $80 for 25/5 which slowed down to 1mbps during peak usage in the evening....

I was so excited - just received a kit and then boom - they didn't send the power adapter so I could use it in the US. So now I'm waiting for that.. Booo!!! I've read how great they are. Will allow me to finish out the motion and door sensor needs throughout the house.

My initial purchase was using Hue sensors.. They work great, but the cost will get ya and slow you down some.

The dimmer switches are cool though. You can actually use them for whatever you'd like in HA

we've been doing "super hero movies" since there were cave walls. I enjoy movies and tv where characters simply talk to each other too, but I'm not spending the money, or dealing with people, babies crying (or not crying), cell phones, and insane snack and beverage prices to watch them. My screen and environment at home is much better for those.

Dude.. literally nobody is telling you to go away, and nobody is complaining about your contributions. One person complained about the fact that every time you mention your repo you're telling everyone to 🌟 it. Your contributions and help are valuable. I folks, I think I'm going crazy - has anyone seen anything about Alexa discovering devices without the Smart Skill installed? I've removed all devices/scenes/groups, and removed all of my skills and I still get Wemo's showing up, showing that it's "connected from WiFi", not from HASS/ST/Wemo/etc.
