I would do it Like that:
Database saves Username for the current round. If the Player joins Back he automaticly gets put into an Zombie and put on the Same position he was before. Round restart clears the Database. (Could be a small SQLite Database would Work too and doesn't require any other MySQL service to Run) Or Just use the cache
