the best way to start with anatomy is definitely circles, pivots and boxes. If you want a particular flow of a pose, I'd reccomend using a 'line of action' (the red line that runs down the chest)

you can build your figure from these pivots and boxes as you can see in the second drawing

if it makes it easier, draw the collar bone in with lines as the neck attaches around the collar bone (I may have made the neck a bit thick in the drawing but the idea is still there)
