have you honestly ever tried 'squishing' your characters vertically to make them look more natural
living being should have a decent with to fit things like organs in them

I can't use blender myself, but I heard from many people that Blender is simple.
If you have a good teacher, if you are motivated and you are patient, you are going to learn how to use it.
Once you can use it properly, it is worth continuing.
