-Zbrush is used for many things : Sculpting, texturing sometimes and even hard surface modeling, tools are really good for that.
-Maya is used for classic modelling/anim/rigging/rendering and is the most used soft by companies for movies, because of good workflows/multitask and tools compatibility. Also it's a powerful soft for animation (mostly like the main domain of maya) some simulation and again : Modelling. it offers some sculpting tools to get more organic objects but yeah, of course it's not a sculpt soft.
