I’d like to share my opinion about health bars floating above the opponents cars in multiplayer. In my opinion they should not be there, and here’s why (let me know in the comments what you think):

First of all, health bars take away certain immersion. I’m fine with the opponents names above the car, but also adding health bars make the environment a HUD fest.

Secondly, it feels like I’m playing an RPG. In a racing game, and mainly a semi-realistic (yet still arcade like), it feels kinda out of place.

Last but not least, it doesn’t improve the gameplay at all. I think you should be able to see in what state other cars are based on their visual damage and how these cars are yet running, but it doesn’t need to be too obvious with health bars. in Wreckfest 1 you can notice this, people are just constantly going to pick the vehicles with the least damage and you get this very weird gameplay flow where it’s “all against the weakest”. Again, not a problem until a certain degree, but it would be better if you have to actually look at the state of other cars.

If the health bar is not going to removed, let’s at least have this option for more hardcore or realism servers.

WF1 has an option in the settings to disable the health bar. Maybe we should have this option in WF2 too? Also an option to disable it on servers upon everyone. We just need some variety, agreed. I like your proposal
