#POINTS NEED TO MATTER

Points need improving, I am aware that in future updates different modes will incoporperate points from ramming etc more but I would very much like to see more done with the derby's, total points earned instead of just wrecks, last man standing etc

but also before that happens points distribution needs looking at, often it doesnt make much sense how the points are given out, from me ramming an opponent and them getting the points, it giving out points for "ramming" when it is in fact a Tbone, it not counting hits to barriers and spins etc it needs to be more accurate.

I think total damage dealt would be the most simple and consistent to be used as points for derbys.

Last Man Standing has a byproduct of playing evasively, which potentially rewards you the most by not participating in the wrecking.

If its points focused by dealing damage, suddenly evading only makes you more of a target for points and not participating also means youre not gaining any positions on the scoreboard.

As for the bonuses, i think theyre fine if they were more consistent, agreed, as they could contribute better for points. Otherwise theyre probably best off as a simple talley and some xp bonuses.

simplicty of the point bonuses isnt the issue, the accuracy is, i like how they are but if i ram someone they shouldn't get the points etc

I agree, the accuracy should be definitely improved but it's not necessarily a trivial thing.

I feel like the "Tbone/back ram/front ram" problem could be solved by tracking the pre-impact velocity vectors of both cars compared to the vehicle body direction vectors (from this point on called D-Vector)
If all vector dot products are around .9 to 1, it's bumper to bumper ramming, if the position of car1-car2 (local offset) compared to the D-Vector of car1 is around 0, it's on the side,

if car1's D-Vector compared to car2's D-Vector is 1, it's a door-to-door slam
If it's 0, it's a T-Bone (yes there's a edge case that you can do it in reverse)
If it's -1, it can be counted as a near miss since they're pointing in opposite directions

You can make a whole if tree of simple comparisons from the already represented data which should theoretically atleast give a good primer on what kind of interaction it was

The message is rambly because of the fact i am currently writing on mobile, and proof reading is quite annoying with this tiny text box

^ a simple representation of dot products

But also yes, I feel like points should be multiplied by damage

A 1 HP clean racing shunt shouldn't be given the same 50 points as a 30 HP start of the race pileup "shunt" just because it's a front to rear bumper impact with very little speed difference at the starting conditions
