What does this mod do?
This mod allows you to be more specific when selecting an item to decorate at your Craftsdwarf, instead of relying on complicated stockpile restrictions and random chance.

Features:
• Support for specifying the what:

Furniture: Beds, Tables, Thrones, Chairs (wooden Thrones), Coffins, Caskets (wooden Coffins), Sarcophagi (metal Coffins), Doors, Statues or Cabinets
Finished Goods: Figurines, Earrings, Amulets, Bracelets, Crowns, Scepters, Goblets, Mugs (stone Goblets), Cups (wooden Goblets) or Instruments.
Containers: Chests, Boxes (glass Chests), Coffers (stone Chests), Bags, Barrels and Bins.
• Support for specifying the with:
Gems, Metal Bars, Stone, Wood, Bones, Shells, Teeth, Horns
• Support for specifying the how:
Cover ( Encrust (gems) / Stud (metal bars) / Decorate (everything else) ),
Hang rings from,
Encircle with bands,
or Add spikes
• Each decoration type (gems, metal bars, wood etc) uses and gives experience relative to the right professions.
ie. Decorating with gems trains gem setting, decorating with wood trains woodcraft, etc.

That's over 600 specific definitions that you can further narrow down (which gem, for example) in game
All wrapped up in a neat little menu system (under 'SPECIFICALLY DECORATE') so you can get to making the perfect item sooner.

Further updates to this mod could see the addition of Armor and Weapons (for those fashionista dwarves), and containers (when you want to store your ale in style)!

CHANGELOG
Version 2.2.1
Added Support for containers: Chests, Boxes, Coffers, Bags, Barrels and Bins.(so your dwarves can store their ale in style!)
Other changes:
Removed the requirement for items to be unimproved, allowing for layering of multiple decorations on a single item (like in vanilla).
Fixed typo in 'Earliest compatible version' tag that was throwing an error in the error log.

this is a great thank you.

You're very welcome ^^
Standby for a big update dropping tomorrow (hopefully) that should allow you to choose (with the magnifying glass in-game) specifically what kind of stone chests, or what kind of wooden beds you want to decorate, as well as some other QOL stuff.

love this. If I set a "decorate mug" order on repeat though, I get them doing the same one mug over and over -_-;;; Use input output stockpiles I guess to prevent this?

Yeah, I can include an 'unimproved only' but vanilla behavior is to allow multiple decorations on a single item. You can lock the item when it's decorated to your liking, but input-output stockpiles should fix the issue. I'll test that in the next push.
Thanks for the help! 😄

You're very welcome! Let your nobledwarves walk around with very specific amulets made of Alabaster. hanging rings of gold and obsidian, and spiked with bone.

#

In fact, y'all should post screenshots of your gaudiest creations here so we can all appreciate how fancy our dwarves have gotten.

I currently have a bracelet going that is encrusted with five pages of gems.

#

It wound up buying me an entire caravan and much, much more at ~☼16000.

Okay, that's impressive.

Any chance to have an option to specify a single object like when you equip your dorf with "specific weapon" in uniforms?

At the moment, with the way dwarf fortress lets you mod reactions, it’s not possible, but after the release of DFHack, I would hope to release exactly that, yes ^^
